We came a few weeks ago on a Thursday night with a party of 5 at 6:30 pm. There was plenty of seating. The ladies who served us were so nice. And EVERYTHING was so delicious. We shared: - bossam pork belly wraps- so good. The sauce and veg it came with were delicious. - pork neck stew- spicy and good. - Since they ran out of lots of the pork bones they supplemented with a bowl of galbi jjim and it was so good/ very beefy and clear broth. Well seasoned and salted. - bibim naengmyeon- we asked for the spicy sauce on the side, but ended up mixing it in. So good and chewy and spicy. They gave us a complimentary bowl of the mul naengmyeon which was also so delicious and refreshing. - seolleongtang- it was so beefy and delicious. The banchan were so tasty. Definitely would come back to try more dishes... and eat the same ones from before haha!! read more

So this is my honest experience of this restaurant from my visit today at dinner time It's not good. It about 60% full. Our food was mediocre at best. We ordered the galbi combo with spicy tofu. Soup was under seasoned and inedible. The galbi was the cheapest flaken cut you can buy at the Korean market. Its was fatty and full of gristle and was not cooked and was raw in the middle. The staff in Korean were bad mouthing and so sour working there it was sad. If you under staffed and unhappy then go to the back and scream and cuss but Why are you so sour and make sure the customers can hear you while passing by with the food and complain it's too busy ? There was one elderly lady maybe in her 80s with possibly her two daughters. They were sitting there for at least 45 minutes when the waitress came up and said I just want to double check your order that's when they realized that the waitress didn't even put their order in they were saying in Korean that please don't leave. Granny is here and we will get the food out as soon as possible and yet as they were leaving the table, you can see them with a smirk on their face. It was disgusting. The worst part is isn't actually even over there must've been a table of 20 across from us celebrating a birthday and they were there before we were and they must have been served at least an hour after us and the waitresses were so rude to them. I felt so bad for that party, but they looked so laid-back. I don't know if they really even noticed or cared. We ended up trying to pay for 10 minutes to get out of there and finally just got our own containers from the weight station a plastic bag and as they saw that we were leaving they finally took our payment Maybe this was an off night maybe there was a different cook in the back maybe they were so busy that they just couldn't pay attention to flavor any of their food or cook it thoroughly. Maybe they were short and someone called in for staffing. All I know is everyone with the prior reviews seem to have great service and food, but this is definitely not what we experienced and definitely not what the table behind us or the table in front of experienced This was by far hands-down, the worst experience. My mom and I were craving Korean food around the area so we stopped by this restaurant. We shared their galbijjim and the portion size was enormous for the two of us. I've been here many times and kept forgetting to take a picture! I finally got to have some alone time and enjoy some comfort food. I was watching one of my all time favorite kdrama called 식샤를합시다 (Let's Eat) and was inspired by the character's posts. Here's a finished plate of their 도가니탕 (Dogani Tang)! It's a traditional Korean soup made from slow-cooked beef knee bones (knuckles and cartilage), resulting in a rich, milky-white, collagen-filled broth with tender, gelatinous meat! So yummy! I love the staff that works here. They're always so welcoming with a family friendly feel and are quick to ask if you want more side dishes too! Wow, this place is really great. I've had kalbitang in many locations and this is the best by far. I really like how they spice the dish beforehand and the meat quality was exceptional, both the kalbitang and the kalbi. The quality of the ingredients is high and the meat quantity was a good value. This is the newest spot for delicious, authentic Korean food in Gardena! They offer a variety of traditional Korean dishes that you wouldn't typically find in surrounding Korean restaurants in the South Bay like their traditional boyangtang (goat stew) and Sunji Haejang Guk (ox blood hangover soup). The owner/chef came out to give recommendations and she was super friendly and helpful. She was so sweet to bring out a seafood pancake made with sea bass for us to try and it was so good! We ordered the Galbitang and dongtaetang (spicy pollack soup) and the portion was huge with plenty of banchans, including some I had never tried before. Pricing was pretty reasonable at about $20-$21 for each of the soups we ordered. The galbi was tender and the pollack stew came with a generous amount of fish meat and included pollack roe which I enjoyed a lot. Overall I really enjoyed this new spot and would highly recommend trying it out! They also open at 7am with breakfast specials Monday-Friday if you're into comforting soups in the mornings. I saw several ajummas and ajussis so you know it's a local authentic spot. It's tucked away in the back of a small plaza to the right of Torrance Bakery and there is adequate parking in the lot. read more

I am so thrilled that the South Bay has this restaurant. So many great restaurants serving good nengmyun have come and gone, and so I had high hopes for the nengmyun here. It was excellent. They make noodles for each bowl of nengmyun fresh from the noodle press in the back, and they are able to achieve that super professional, chewy, super thin noodle texture that you cant get from the supermarket. It was seriously high quality and I am so pleased to write a glowing review for this place. Banchan was plentiful and generous, bulgogi was tender, galbitang was full flavored, the 매운탕 had large pieces of buttery fish... we had a pretty large party there this afternoon, and the service was top notch as well. General Hwang is great for both lunch and dinner. The service is friendly, the ambiance is elegant and well lit with very nice design. The banchan here is top notch. I loved the egg soufflé, their kimchi is spicy and fresh, jelly is fresh, I mean everything delicious. We got the nourishing stew, it had a nice portion of meat and a lot of tendons. The meat was very tender and delicious. Their broth has more depth than other spots. This is my favorite Korean restaurant I have found. Add some salt to your soup and enjoy. Lunch time has an excellent take away deal, around 14 dollars with tax for bulgogi with rice and kimchi. A generous portion of tender , not overly sauced or sweet bulgogi. Was craving some Korean food and decided to try a new place out! The restaurant is really tucked in this plaza so need to really follow your gps. The restaurant itself had lots of tables and was pretty spacious! We ordered their spicy naengmyuen and spicy pork combo and steamed dumplings. Came with a good selection of side dishes. The foods were okay, a bit on the sweeter side but wasn't too bad. So good! Wanted to try some cold noodles because of the heat, my mom ordered the spicy mixed cold noodles which were perfect! Just enough spicy, not overly sweet. Make sure you cut your noodles with the scissors, because they are hard to chew like any other cold noodle place. I also ordered the bulgogi wrap, everything was so fresh and the seasoned doenjang was so good, I couldn't stop eating the veggies! Super healthy and made me feel so good about myself. This place is going to be one of our go-to's for Korean food in the South Bay. I believe General Hwang's is relatively new to the location, as I remember a Brazilian BBQ spot there in the past. Parking is plenty in the plaza. The manager was very welcoming and very attentive to us. He had let us know that soon they will be closing at a later time, which is a plus! My partner and I loved it so much our first try, we went back again in a matter of days. We love the cold noodle + galbi combo, as well as the galbitang. The galbitang is light, yet still very filling. The banchans, such as their potato salad, broccoli, and japchae, are also very yummy! We've also tried their steam dumplings, also very good! Pros- the staff were very nice and attentive, free hot barley tea, the food came out promptly, and everything was so flavorful and cooked perfectly Cons- just one thing for me personally (but other restaurants do this too), is that the menu doesn't go into detail on ingredients for each dish, something to keep in mind if you have any dietary restrictions you'll have to ask. Service is a little slow but perfect for catching up friends. We were not in a hurry or on a set schedule. Food is so good and comforting! Banchans are fresh and refilled when asked. We ordered seafood pancake, cold noodles, spicy pork and galbi. All of our food came out in a timely manner. The seafood pancake was sooooo good with a good amount of seafood. The calamari was not rubbery which id a huge plus!! There were a good amount of shrimp in the pancake. The cold noodles were refreshing with some added vinegar. Galbi came off the bone without trying to yank it off. Spicy pork was full of flavor with just the right amount of kick. We can't wait ti go back and try more menu items. Really great food, and not overly spicy. Their noodles are made fresh to order by a machine in the kitchen, they are buckwheat noodles, very thin and good chewy texture. Was told to eat leftover noodles asap or they've I'll get too soft. Ordered cold noodles...great Beef bulgogi and beef brisket soup (which also had the same noodles)....got 6 Banchan dishes and ate them all. So good! Michael was helpful and spoke English....waitresses were so nice and helpful and tried to teach me how to say tasty in Korean...we were the only non Koreans when we went today for lunch. We came here today after visiting my father's grave on his Memorial Day. My brother made the reservation, and even though it was a 30-mile drive from Anaheim Hills, it was absolutely worth it. My wife owned two restaurants in the past, so I know how hard it is to get everything right. This place nailed it. The décor still carries some of the old Brazilian BBQ vibe, but the food and service easily made up for it. The sea bass soup was outstanding--made with fresh sea bass, not frozen--which gave it a clean, natural flavor without the heavy MSG you find elsewhere. The cold noodles really surprised me; as someone with North Korean roots, I'm very picky about naengmyeon, and theirs was spot-on: refreshing, authentic, and generous in portion (unlike many places that serve skimpy bowls). The galbi (Korean short rib) was tender and flavorful, the banchan was well-prepared, and the service was friendly and prompt. Too many Korean restaurants today focus only on all-you-can-eat BBQ and forget tradition. It was refreshing to find a place that still carries the torch of authentic Korean cuisine. This restaurant is new, but I truly hope they succeed and keep traditional flavors alive. read more
