I've been here a couple times with others and always had enjoyable experiences. This time I went by myself and got hotpot. Food was great up until I found three separate bugs floating around! I immediately lost my appetite and told my waiter, Kevin. He was pretty apathetic and said yeah that happens and shot a "Sorry about that," as he walked away. First off, ew. To brush it off by saying this isn't the first time is gross, and to do it without concern makes it worse. I get that fresh produce is bound to have bugs, but that's solved by properly washing it off!!! No offer to get a new broth or anything. This is pretty disappointing King Pot. read more

We LOVED King Pot! The ambiance was great- big booths with some privacy, and nice lighting. I cannot say enough great things about our server- I wish I remember his name. I'd never been to a Korean bbq before and my partner had never been to Hot Pot so we got both. Our server helped by just bringing a mix of meats & veggies that he thought he'd enjoy. It helped narrow down the endless options! He was very low pressure and friendly. They also have a buffet style area with 30ish sauces, kimchi (that was incredible) and some appetizers. We're gluten free and most of these were fried foods. I cannot stop thinking about our next visit. Also, we spent 100$ after tip and we're absolutely stuffed. FOOD POISONING HUB! DO NOT EAT HERE! The entire establishment is filthy. They give you plates full of sketchy looking raw meat and expect you to cook them all on the same small burner. Yes, raw chicken, vegetables, beef, noodles, etc. They have an "appetizer bar" open to the public to grab and go, which was appalling. Their "sauce bar" is also open to the public for others to bring their raw meats up to. They have no salt and pepper at the tables, you have to use the community s&p near the sauce bar, which everyone uses with their dirty hands full of raw meat, juices, and bacteria. Let's talk about the service. Julie, the manager, has clearly never managed anything prior to this. When asked for a discount, it was a clear cut "no." We didn't ask for her to wipe the bill clean, we asked for a discount. We ended up leaving and having to eat dinner elsewhere because of how disgusting this place was. (SALMONELLA WARNING) This establishment lacks anything HYGENIC we sat at the establishment for 30 minutes the raw food arrived we were appalled by the rotten raw looking meat and the sauce station that clearly had cross-contamination from raw chicken and raw meat as people were pouring sauces directly on the raw meat with every serving spoon everyone was touching the serving spoons with raw meat and Community bottles of sauces being passed around that were sticky to the touch! Cool experience but nothing wowed me, the grill barely cooked the food and with a 2 hour limit you don't know whether you'll get to eat all your food or if it's fully cooked through on top of that they charge you for wasting food. Waitress was no where to be found half the time, it was our first time so we had no idea what to do, how much to order given we didn't want to be charged for wasting food. My Korean husband said afterwards, laughing, "I felt violated!" ^^ . Yes, this is a Chinese owned and operated kbbq. You poor, deceived midwesterners. Being from California, where there are a plethora of authentic Asian businesses to choose from, let me give you some details: The service. First of all, if you are going to pay that much in California ($30/person), you are going to get a much more professional experience. This place had like 6 TEENAGERS standing around the lobby, getting in the way, goofing off and looking at their phones doing nothing, while our one server was constantly getting our orders late and mixed up and letting the grill get dirty, and SPRAYING TONS OF PAM ON TOP OF OUR MEAT because she didn't get there in time to spray the new grill or something. That was really disgusting. I'm sorry to say it like this, but if it were Korean, that kind of service would never happen. Now the ambience. At a kbbq place, since you are doing your own grilling, it is ESSENTIAL that you have proper lighting to see if your food is actually done cooking - the lighting was very poor and GREEN, so we were always getting up to stare at it up close and guessing if it was done. Not pleasant, especially if you are cooking pork. The table is a problem as well - putting hot pots on the same table as a grill causes the table to be twice as wide as a normal table with just a grill. This makes it very difficult to hear each other, but more importantly, it makes it very difficult to share the meat that's cooked. In an authentic kbbq, the setting is intimate, and the person cooking reaches over to place meat on the other person's plate. It is part of the culture to serve the other people. With this ginormous table, you have to stand up the entire time to be able to reach across the table. Since the room is large and echoey, you also get the noise from other tables disrupting your conversation. Okay, now the food. Quality of meat was good, which is why I gave 2 stars. But, beware, the marinades are Chinese, NOT Korean style. It tastes like the food we get at Golden Wall Chinese. Tasty, but not authentic, so it was a weird experience. In kbbq, you eat the meat with lots of wraps, like lettuce, sesame leaves, thinly sliced radish, or rice paper. They only had lettuce and radish, but it was NOT thinly sliced and not the same flavor. The bbq was decent quality but part of the business model was to make the grill really cold so the food took forever to cook so they could scam you. The grill is incredibly cold with no sizzle and the meat took upwards of 20 minutes for some pieces to only partially cook through. It is impossible to put any sear on the meat and In order to finish the food before we were rushed out we had to cook meat that wasn't fully cooked. The seafood is almost impossible to cook on the grill or tell when it's done. In order to get your moneys worth the food feels borderline unsafe to eat, if our order wasnt mostly beef which can be partially cooked I woudlve felt unsafe eating there. read more

Horrible service - we got seated at 9:30 and they literally gave us 15 mins to order and didn't give us half of our order! We literally paid $70 to to leave hungry - very unacceptable. We had called beforehand and confirmed that they sat people up to 10 PM and closed at 11 PM. My boyfriend left wanting to get more food elsewhere. If you're going to seat people, do them the decency of letting them actually enjoy their food instead of feeling like you're pushing them out. This is by far the worst service I have seen from any restaurant. I would not recommend this to anyone. So excited to have one in our area. Place is quite spacious with lots of booths. We went on a Friday night around 7:00 and got right in. So, you have option of Hot Pot or BBQ or both for $5 up charge like others have said. We opted for just hot pot. On the menu there's different things to choose depending which option u pick. With hot pot there were about 5-6 broth choices. My husband got the Szechuan and I got the second hottest can not remember name. Both very good. My husband liked mine more. So other hot pot restaurants we have gone to (mainly FL) it was buffet style. Here it's a big menu with same concept and you pick as much as you'd like as many times as you want just waiters bring it out in rotations. Be careful though because you can get filled up quickly! We really ordered enough first round but ordered more and were feeling it. Whatever you order comes enough for your group so keep that in mind too. So,there is pretty much every kind of meat and veggies you could want. The meat all comes frozen thinly sliced and you place it in the broth to cook. Literally takes seconds. The shrimp were huge but I found them annoying cuz they obviously come whole with head on. Just not in mood to mess with them so I let my hubby eat them all. Favorites: the dumplings, lamb, brisket, quail eggs, and variety of mushrooms! So, off to the side is a small appetizer area that in my opinion is just meh and not needed. Has French fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fried shrimp and spring rolls. Then an entire sauce bar! Which really can be overwhelming if you're clueless on what any of the sauces are or taste like. I think little cue cards might be nice on what would taste good together. There also was pickled daikon (which were delicious and I ate way too many to admit), seaweed and kimchi and some honeydew melon. The service was spot on and food delivered fast. Knowing what to do with the food (how to cook it and what to season it with, etc.) is a bit of a learning curve, at least for me. What a great experience! This was our first time having Korean barbecue and hot pot, and certainly won't be our last. The restaurant is very clean, with cool neon signs on the ceiling, and even a photo wall for one's insta pics. Thao, our server, explained our choices, how to order, pricing, etc. Throughout the time we were there, she was so sweet and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. She even took the time to explain all the different sauces at the sauce bar. My son wanted Hot Pot and I wanted BBQ, and for $5 more, you can do both. It was worth it for our first time, as we got to try a lot of different things. We got the Thai Tom Ka broth for the hot pot, and a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables. Next time, we won't order so much right away - Thao was so attentive that we could ask for more at any point. Besides the food that you cook at your table, there is a small buffet area with some fried foods, fresh fruit, and two dessert choices, as well as the sauce bar, which also has kimchi.
