Shout out to the Yelp oracle, Katy C. for the recommendation! I was driving thru and needed something quick. I called ahead to order #2: Bibimbap (Rice, bulgogi (beef), gosari (fern), kimchi radish, soy bean sprouts, spinach, zucchini, and an egg cooked sunny side up). I wish it was closer as I would order this dish everyday. It's so perfect and since I got it to go, I have to appreciate how they packaged it with care - with the sauce on the side in a small container as well as kmichi too! They also have kimbap on Saturdays, which was equally as tasty! I'll have to come back for the 서울 짜장면 (Seoul Jjajang Myun) Noodles in Black Bean Sauce & 서울 짬뽕 (Seoul Jjam Ppong) Hot & Spicy Seafood Soup!

I want to update my review of Seoul Market Cafe since I've been there many times over the years and it is still my favorite no-frills Korean spot in the area. I recently returned to Korea and had some of the best Korean food, and Seoul Market Cafe really hits the spot when I'm craving some jae yuk bokkeum or sundubu stew. The cafe is located within Seoul Market, a small Korean grocery store. The seating area is pretty small, about 8-9 tables, so not great for large groups. You can do takeout though. The menu includes 14-15 items like bulgogi, bibimbap, kimchi jjigae, doenjang, jjajangmyeon, tteokbokki, and more. My personal favorite is the jae yuk bokkeum (spicy stir fried pork), but I've tried the bibimbap, bulgogi, soondubu jjigae, and jjajangmyeon. The jae yuk bokkeum is definitely spicy, but so delicious. The pork is always tender and the portions are huge; I always have leftovers. We also love the bulgogi, which is super savory, slightly sweet, and very tender as well. Meals come with banchan, or side dishes, and you usually get 3-4 and they rotate. We've gotten kimchi, oi muchim (spicy cucumbers), fish cakes, bean sprouts, and more. The rice is purple sticky rice, which is really yummy and always the perfect texture. Ambience and service are no-frills but efficient and quick. I haven't had any long waits for food lately. On weekends they do special features - japchae, kimbap, and vegetable pancakes. All are really good but do sell out. If you like Korean food or want to try something new, check out Seoul Market Cafe. They are closed Mondays.

The cutest little hole in the wall restaurant with the best authentic Korean food! We loved their bulgogi. Large portions with delicious sides. Love visiting the store part afterwards to grab snacks! Can't wait to go back.

Was nervous to go here because I'm not from here (and I have anxiety lol), but they were really welcoming and made me feel comfortable! To the left is the market and then the right side is the restaurant. The food was amazing, non-greasy, well seasoned meat, and fresh veggies. I WILL be back!

If you don't know where to order, where to sit, or what to order, you know this place is gonna be good. Mom and pop shop. Hole in the wall. Yes there's not much seating. Yes it might take a while. Yes they always out of something. But is it damn good? Yes yes yes! One of the best Korean food spots in West Michigan maybe even through the whole state. Trust me. Get the Soondubu Jigae. Eat it with the purple rice. Thank me later. 5/5

This place is an amazing little hole in the wall. It's basically a store, but they have a restaurant in it and the food is so fresh and authentic. The service is done by the store owners and family members with a few outsiders. All were friendly and English is spoken so you don't have to learn Korean to eat there. lol. Would definitely go there again! Seating is limited and it is a little tight, but the food is so worth it. I would go early as they run out of things.

The food is always so so good and authentic. The service is amazing. The guy is always so nice. They have such a great selection of whatever you're looking for. If you can't find anything, just talk to the guy and he will help you out! We come back all the time! I'd rate it 100 out of 100 every single time!

Everything was so delicious! Best bulgogi I have had in the Grand Rapids area ever. The banchan was also a nice touch and very yummy. Amazing service, they checked in many times to make sure we liked everything.

The meals are authentic and delicious. Do not expect much service and the ambiance is very casual. I'm aware some choices are made to keep costs low for the customers that may not be as efficient. Patience is required during 'peak' meal times especially on weekends. Do not sleep on the market selections. They are now offering prepared items on Saturdays but you must get there early or stick around because these are flying off the shelves. Don't forget to try the best assortment of novelty ice creams as well. Can't get this anywhere else!

    Tofu Bibimbap with kimchi

Growing up my family would always come here to get some Asian ingredients and their giant jars of kimchi and their Saturday kimpab and japchae. I forget how long ago they built that little cafe area, but it's a little gem if you are craving some homemade style Korean comfort food here in GR. Since I don't eat beef, I ordered the bibimbap with tofu and they charged extra for that. I think that's kind of a lot considering tofu is much cheaper than beef but since it's a family owned business that we have supported for almost two decades, it'll do.

Hidden not so hidden gem. Quality taste and service. No frills place and you order and prepay before you get your food. My foodie dad that's been to Korea A LOT loved how homemade the food tastes. I got the hot bowl and loved the crispy rice at the bottom. The store as a whole has a lathe frozen section.

Updating to let everyone know I got the black bean noodles and they were incredible. This was a super savory noodle dish with mushrooms, onions, and other veggies. The noodles were heavy and chewy. It reminded me a cross between lo mein and udon. It's a very familiar umami/savory taste so I think lots of people would enjoy this dish. It's very similar in taste and texture to lots of other popular East Asian noodle dishes. Loved it, certainly getting it again!
