We went here yesterday for brunch. The service was great at the beginning but then we waited 15-20 minutes just for a drink refill. I had three bloody Mary's and a mimosa and jambalaya and eggs. My partner had what was called the king bowl (Louisiana crawfish, Two eggs fried over medium, Hashbrowns, Artichoke hearts, Cheddar, Applewood bacon bits, Crawfish BÉCHAMEL). Found this spot through yelp as we were searching for Thursday happy hour deals. Food was delicious and very filling. We loved the crawfish bread, gumbo, and boudin boulettes. Drinks were very tasty, but knocking one star off for service since it did take a long time for server to refill and bartender to make drinks. Came back on Sunday brunch and sat at the bar. I went to this restaurant based on its high ratings. I had a reservation for 7, got there at 6:50. There was a line of 20+ ppl waiting to check in so I opted to sit at the bar. The bar wasn't very crowded (empty seats) and there were 2-3 ppl working it. However, it took me 20 minutes to get a drink, 1 hour to get a salad as I watched ppl all around me get served their food. It took 1.5 hrs to get my entree--red fish which was so overcooked. I couldn't eat the edges of the fish. The meal was $70. In a foodie town like New Orleans, go someplace else. read more

We had to ask for refills multiple times, could barely hear the waiter when he spoke then when we asked for our desserts to go they didn't even give us what was on the menu and he requested a cash tip. We enjoyed it. We popped in before dinner to have a drink. The bar wasn't very crowded at 5:30 on a Wednesday. My wife ordered a Daiquiri and I had a can of Slack Water Brown Ale. The drinks were great and the bartender, Joy was courteous and helpful. The bar top is interesting. It looks like thin slices of the bottom of wine corks with a lacquer on top. Sort of reminds me of penny tile. We ordered Garlic Crab Claws as an appetizer. Really good and worked well for 2 people to share. We'd recommended Kingfish for drinks and appetizers. Very disappointed of this place . I thought we found a good place to eat and that wasn't the case. First of the table we were placed didn't wasn't stable. They tired to use some stuff of paper folds to keep from rocking eventually we said to use one of our napkins and that worked. But second did they same thing and my son had to keep his foot on the table based to keep it from moving. Food - we order boudin balls served on a skillet and cornbread with stuff crawfish. We waited over 30 minutes and had to remind the waiter and when she brought it over the cold.... The Boudin was suppose to be on a hot skillet and she brought it bare handed . Both dish was disappointing and when they reserve the cornbread the texture was like when you reheat bread that's retoasted. Main entrees was not pleasing. This was the perfect place! The place was a decent size, affordable, perfect portions, very nice and attentive staff and very tasty food! We were a group of 8 and everyone loved their dish. We all split the jambalaya risotto app and it was to die for! A few of the dishes we got were the Barbecued Scallop Fettuccine, the Gulf Shrimp & Grits, Fried bbq Gulf Shrimp Po Boy, Seafood Au Gratin, and the Fried Green Tomatoes & Shrimp Remoulade. The host waved my dogs and I in on a hot Saturday afternoon. They arranged seating for us so in the bar so they could cool down and I could eat. Every staff member we encountered were friendly and accommodating. The Gardenhead drink was refreshing and delicious. My dogs enjoyed a grilled chicken breast as we sat in the bar area. I stopped at Kingfish in my way to a work dinner because they have a strong happy hour. From 2 to 7, how can you go wrong? Plenty of snacks for just $5, half price beer and select wines and reduced price cocktails. I was delighted by a sparkling French rose for a mere $6, and even more delighted by the generous pour. I had to try Boudin balls for science and because they were just $5 - they were crisp outside and soft inside and served with a nice mustard for dipping. The interior is clean and comfortable and I found the staff to be attentive and really friendly. It probably helped that I was there on a Monday so not slammed busy. They had great NO jazz playing to go along with cheap drinks - despite the good prices it was a pretty mature crowd. Definitely would return! read more

When the food arrived, all was forgiven. The fried chicken was amazing, the scallop fettuccine had a crème sauce that informed me that I was sadly lacking in the skills department. Ordered the mojito and the fruity mocktail and they were very flavorful. The shrimp caesar salad came out after the main courses, but that was OK. Everything was divine. Just thinking about the crab chop makes me drool. GET THE CRAB CHOP!! However, the second time I went for happy hour and sat at the bar. My girlfriend and I showed up too late for their legendary happy hour so we took a peek at the dinner menu before getting a table. I am SO happy that we did! I wasn't too familiar with their dinner menu but the food blew us away! We started with the boudin boulettes (yum!) For my entree I got the barbecued scallop fettuccine and my friend got the Louisiana catfish Huey. I can honestly say that I couldn't pick a favorite. Nice setup and good ambiance but it had a slight smell of something we just couldn't shake. Our crawfish bread came out with entrees which was a little disappointing but it tasted so good. The red beans and rice with fried chicken was so good I ate leftovers the next day. And the Craklin' Nachos were something new, exciting, and surprisingly tasty. Our one fail was the shrimp dish though. Way too much vinegar and when we asked the manager they just basically said it is what it is. No offer to exchange that dish. We went in to eat on Sunday and we waited 15 minutes and not one person came to asks us for drinks they were not that busy so we waited a little longer .. after 25 min we got up and left because no one wanted to take our order . I went here a little over a month ago when I was in New Orleans and it was a good experience. I went with a group of friends and the waiter did a good job taking all of our orders and he was cool. The inside of the restaurant was nice. We got our food in a decent amount of time. I got the red beans and rice with chicken and sausage and it was good. I wasn't a big fan of the jam on the chicken and it could have been spicier. Also my boyfriend got a seafood pasta and the portion size was soooo small and they wouldn't give him anymore food so we ended up sharing my plate. Overall it was a good experience. This was a huge miss for me. Terrible service and cold food. We were ignored for close to 15 minutes. I had to flag down a bartender just so we could get water. She said she had to "find" our server. When we finally got wine, our server confused the two glasses and told us to try them out to see which we liked. She probably could've gotten away with playing it off like they were intentional. I tried some of the crab cake which was delicious. The shrimp and green tomatoes had really flavorful shrimp. A friend had the beet salad that was overdressed and wilted. I got the scallop fettuccine Alfredo. The noodles were cold but the scallops (all three of them) were perfectly seared and flavorful... and hot. When I told the bartender, he shrugged and said "you're in the French quarter, honey". Alrighty then... Food was tasty. Drinks were strong and good. Menu has a good spread of southern/ American entrees. We had the bbq shrimp po boy and gumbo combo from the lunch menu and the gumbo was really good but the sandwich was dry and not very flavorful. If only the po boy could afford mayo, I think it would satisfy. We also shared the catfish and grits and that was better than the other dish. Catfish was cooked to perfection with a cornbread dusting. Grits were cheesy and rich. It had a dash of yummy gravy. The prohibition punch was $6 for HH and we had 3, lol. I also had a gin drink that wasn't as good. All in all, it was a decent place to eat. Walked in here for brunch. Got seated quickly but service was terrible. Looked around and it seems like everyone was having issues with service. It wasn't terribly busy, so I'm not sure why there was huge hold up. Waiters don't check on you, you're left just sitting there looking around for someone to help. Do not get bottomless mimosas, not really bottomless if you can only get one or two drinks an hour because no one checks on your drinks and you place the order for mimosas and it takes 30 minutes to get one .
