We stayed at the Kimpton and got a voucher for 2 free cocktails to redeem here, which is a nice surprise. This review is written with the angle of original price of the cocktails for fair evaluation. We went around 10pm on a Saturday, about an hour before they close, and almost every table is occupied. This is a pretty colorful place, which makes sense because it is called the Peacock room after all. We got the Emperor and Chariot. Emperor is more like an old fashioned drink, and the Chariot is more tiki and fun. I liked the Chariot a lot more as the cocktail is well balanced. Compared to where I live, the cocktail prices are really good, but compared to New Orleans bars, it is on the pricier side ($16-19) but definitely matches the quality and execution. Service is excellent as the server checked up on us periodically and refilled our waters. Overall, definitely must visit especially if you are already staying at the hotel! read more

I had a hotel credit I could use on this restaurant, so I popped into the Peacock Room for a solo early dinner. The ambiance is amazing, plus velvet, emerald and sapphire tone, glitzy, and feels like a good photo op. The bar and cocktail menu looked expansive. However, I was going to be hopping on a meeting, so I could not partake, unfortunately. A group got this impressive tower of espresso martini and everyone seemed to be enjoying their drinks! I wanted that New Orleans seafood but had late lunch, so I opted for just the crispy gulf shrimp on cheesy grits. I really wished I can hungrier because the dish ended up being very heavy. The shrimp were nice and crispy. The charred Brussels sprouts gave me the false sense that this was a healthy dish because I was getting my veggie intake. The bacon jam was sweet and went well with the Brussels sprouts. I loved the combination of the cheesy grits and the Crystal hot sauce. It was the perfect amount of both and some how led me to understand why Americans put hot sauce on their Mac n cheese and some other cheesy dishes after 30 years of not really understanding the attraction to that combo. I got the marinated olives to go so I could have a little snack later. They were just stuff I feel I could get in a jar... not really sure if I could justify the price. Good vibes abound in the Peacock Room, as it seemed to be the place to be. My colleague picked our cocktail and dining destination on a whim, as it was convenient to our hotel. The random choice was a hit. While my pic was limited to my cocktail (Old Fashioned), I also had the Peacock Smash Burger that came w fries. Quite tasty, although heavy on the salt. Brunch for four as we began our Dirty Linen run. The place is very cute with an emerald green room. All the surfaces are hard and the level of noise is overwhelming with only 5 tables. We orders the brunch tower which was actually the best thing of the brunch. The shrimp and remoulade was great. The pimento cheese was fantastic and we wished we had a pint to eat. Two people got the chicken sandwich which was very large. However the flavor was off point. The gochujang sauce was sweet and had to me eaten with the sake to offset the sweetness. When it was all put together the sandwich was soggy and sloppy. The smash burger was ordered with American cheese but that didn't happen. The pickles were not on the burger and had to be brought from the kitchen. The burger was nothing but a bun soaking up the grease. The party was hand pressed but way to fat to be a smash burger. It had no seasoning and none of the crunchy bits I prefer in a smash burger. The fires are out of a bag but were crispy. Located in the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, it is actually a nice restaurant that has a lot of charm. Located away from the nose and bustle of Bourbon Street, we had a peaceful dinner that is not fried or wholly unhealthy (i.e. greasy). The presentation of the food came was amazing. We ordered the linguine and added meatballs, which was well worth it. We also ordered the shrimp & grits, which included Brussels sprouts. Boy, it was sure nice to get some vegetables in my stomach after eating all that yummy fried food during our stay! All in all, both dishes were delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. I always appreciate the staff's efforts by making simply making eye contact and smiling (which they did). Seems trivial but I think those small things says a lot about a business. The food however was problematic. We started with the focaccia which was toasted with melted butter but also had a side of butter, never thought I would say too much better but it was. The curry cashews however were nice. We ordered the blue crab bucatini, there was no crab to be found and the seasoning was non existent. It sounded promising but even adding salt could not fix the dish. The next dish that fell flat was the spicy shrimp, the shrimp was over cooked, dry and stale. The burger was delicious and the parmesan fries were good. If you want ambience and tasty drinks I would say definitely visit, I am not sure about the food, maybe it was a bad day. read more

I just want to curl up with some bubbles and a book and never leave. I probably couldn't afford to do that, though. Prices here are comparable to those in New York City, with a 15-24 dollar price range for most wines and cocktails. Im finally writing a review for the Peacock Room! I've been here 4 times now and have enjoyed myself each time whether it be dinner, drinks, or brunch. I really like the interior design of the restaurant as well as the creativity with their cocktails. The service has always been good, Moon in particular is an excellent waitress! They serve quite fast and are very attentive. I think they have a good and consistent smash burger. Their cara mía holiday cocktail is divine! Love their truffle fries, brussels sprouts are also very good and crispy. We also enjoyed the short rib- great flavor and it was very tender over the mashed potatoes! A friend had the tuna and said it was very good and she would recommend it. A couple people were not a fan of the shrimp & grits- I didn't try it so I can't comment, but they were not up to par with the seasoning. They also allow you to split the check for large groups (8+) which is a huge pro. Overall, I will definitely continue recommending peacock room, particularly for apps & drinks or brunch. Ive been here for brunch twice with a decent sized group and the service was great both times. The room Peacock Room has a great esthetic and very instagram-able. The food is decent but pricey and not very memorable if im being honest. If im invited here I wouldn't turn down the invitation but its not on the top of my list. One caveat is I've only tried brunch here so Im willing to give dinner a try. We had the deviled egg and it was just OK. I did enjoy the crispy shrimp appetizer. Tried the Peacock Room so we could try the Christmas drinks. The Peacock Room is beautiful and was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We started with the gumbo which was different from the usual gumbo we have but so delicious. It was on the spicy side though which my husband loved. For an entree we had the Chorizo gravy & buttermilk biscuits which was a 10 out of 10. Even my husband who usually doesn't sushi over food said that it was fantastic. The chocolate bread pudding was light,flaky, warm and amazing. We had 2 of the Christmas drinks, Deck the Halls and the Glitter End. Both were festive and delicious. My only complaint was that the keepsake ornament it came in didn't say the Peacock Room but Grey Goose which isn't even in the drink. Our server Hector was friendly, attentive and helpful. I have now been twice, and have really enjoyed my experience both times! Our party of 8 went for a friend's birthday on a Friday night. When we arrived at our reservation time, the hostess told us the previous party at our table was taking longer than usual. She offered us two bottles of prosecco which we enjoyed in the lobby while we waited, which was immensely kind and very enjoyable! We were seated 15-20 minutes later. I ordered the Blackberry Magpie cocktail, Baby Kale Caesar Salad, and Focaccia bread for the side. My meal was great, they definitely use a good amount of anchovies in both their salad and the butter for the bread, but I didn't mind! The service was great and the restaurant is very beautiful. My only note was that it was $$$ for a limited menu, and not out of this world food and drink. My salad-with-no protein, side of bread, & cocktail was $50 including tip. For this restaurant in particular, it feels like you are more paying for the vibe than the food quality. That being said, it was truly a great experience, and I will come back for that vibe when it is wanted! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. This place was delicious with such a cute scenery I loved everything about it. Because it was so cute I was honestly not expecting the food to be as good, but I was blown away by both the shrimp and grits and the goat cheese fondue. The Shrimp & Grits came with brussel sprouts, definitely not your average shrimp and grits, it's shrimp and grits taken to another level and I loved it. The goat cheese fondue comes with an onion jam, which complemented the tanginess of the goat cheese perfectly. The whole dish was so well balanced and the bread was to die for.
