    Hatch Green Chili Burrito
    Robert G.

When visiting Colorado Springs Colorado we never miss the opportunity to visit King's Chef Diner. Not only in the food great but the price and service is also great. We usually go for breakfast but have also been there for lunch. For breakfast my wife and I have the breakfast green chili burrito and coffee. I like this place so much I am salivating while writing this review. Will definitely return soon.

If I could I would go e this establishment, attend amazing fresh breakfast cook to order you can sit inside at the counter or outside they have tables or even do an order to go. The food is amazing. Service was top-notch and friendly. We definitely will be coming here again.

This place is an experience! Food network called their breakfast burrito 'Colorado's best breakfast' and I have to agree. It was amazing! And huge. Get it covered in green chili. Yum! My son ordered the French toast and loved it. He cleaned his plate and asked for more. My other son order d the cheese burger and it was delicious too! It's a tiny place but a place you must visit!!

I've heard about this place so had to stop by. Food sizes are huge! I asked for a 1/4 grump but with the eggs on the side. I was told that I would be charged a plate fee to separate the eggs. Ridiculous. I ended up saying no eggs so they took 20 cents off of the meals price. Super fast service and the food was delicious, though. Email address was provided on the receipt for the manager, so I emailed them about the extra plate charge. No response was received.

I was visiting Colorado and was wondering places to try. This place was one of the top spots I heard of online. Looking at the heavy portions, I was easily convinced. Here's our experience on a Saturday morning. AMBIANCE: Parking: The parking plazaa is really small (5 cars about). However there is metered parking around the area. Seating: It's very intimate. There is inside seating for about 10 people inside and about 12 people (3 groups) outside. Feels: The surroundings are the outter ends of Colorado Springs thus it is not an extremely busy area. The diner itself is very intimate, if you seat inside you can easily see and smell the food being cooked. A vibrant place decorated with small business stickers and their awards. The music ranges from pop to hip-hop. Great place for people of all ages FOOD: Breakfast Burrito (Recommend) I requested for all three meats with half and half chile verde and gravy sauce. It was an extremely filling dish. I had to take leftovers home. It was extremely flavorful. I enjoyed the chorizo sausage and bacon combo and the rich cheese. The chile verde gave it an extra kick and the gravy provided a good savory taste. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Fantastic. Good energy, knowledgable information, and welcoming personalities. Their energy made this place extra memorable. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. This place provided a great impression for my takes on Colorado. I enjoyed the creative/style of the menu, food was delicious, and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend this place for people visiting the area. I look forward coming back here to conquer the rest of their menu. TIPS: * CASH ONLY * Portions too big? They got smaller sizes as well. * You do get a sticker for cleaning your plate * You have a choice of Tobasco or Cholula

Excellent food, service and cool vibe. Favorite meal is the Huevos but the pepper melt is a strong 2nd!

This place was incredible!!! The service was fantastic. I felt so welcome and relaxed. It truly describes what Colorado is all about. Easy going and fun lifestyle. I ordered the breakfast burrito and it was so tasty! Had it with the famous green chili and it was perfect. Usually I put a lot of hot sauce on my eggs but this dish was the perfect amount of spice. Highly encourage others to try this place out. I will definitely be back.

If I'm going to dine here it's going to be at this location. It's teeny and comfortable. I love the staff so much. Kings chef diner is exciting because the amount of enthusiasm that pours through these doors for patrons coming to eat. The proclaim the best chili and I will flat disagree, you want chili you've got to travel down to New Mexico hands down, argue with me I really don't care. On the sweeter side I will agree the French toast is just delicious. I wish they'd do away with individual packages syrup and or replace with pure maple syrup. The orange juice is fresh squeezed but very expensive for the serving size and not worth the price. Picture shown is of the mer'l scramble, a dish I tend to stick with.

While driving through Colorado Springs, I knew there was one diner I wanted to go too: The King Chef Diner.  It had been on the Food Network before! Atmosphere: It's a small, purple, castle located on the main road.  If you aren't familiar with, "yes that is a diner," then you'll wonder what you are driving by.  That being said, it's one of the best atmospheres out there! The inside 13 people at the most, and everyone must sit at the bar.  You can watch the chef in the back or talk to the waitress.  Everyone speaks to everyone, and you immediately have to meet new friends.  It's clear that it's a local favorite. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh, with plenty of whipped cream.  I have no complaints. Service: For the entire diner, there is one waitress and one cook.  Which makes sense because it's so small!  Our waitress was extremely friendly, knew almost everyone, and our food came out quickly. Food: King Chefs diner is open for breakfast and lunch, and you can order anything at anytime.  The King Chef diner has unique options such as a breakfast burrito. The portions are huge. The burrito had: The burrito had a flour tortilla stuffed with; two scrambled eggs, sausage, grilled onions, hash browns & shredded cheese. I choose to top mine with their signature green chili!  It was spicy (which I like!).  It was one of the best burritos I have ever had.  I had watched the Food Network episode so I knew to come hungry.  My husband and I had also run earlier and I even I struggled to finish the burrito. I enjoyed the King Chef Diner, and I would go back anytime! I highly recommend it.

The food was great and the portions were huge ! I got 1/2 order of the breakfast burrito with one side of green chilies and the other gravy and was full the rest of the day. I also can't say enough about how pleasant the staff were, even the owner I believe it was came over asked how our meal was but also took the time to ask where we were from and gave us some other good ideas for things to do while in town.

Not bad at all, also not the same. The burger was kind of dry and almost seemed reheated, which is not at all the norm. I was so excited to have a location nearer to me. I went to…read morethe "Order Pickup" area and the guy passing out orders said they were really busy and backed up but it "looked like my stuff was on the grill". No big deal, it happens. So I grabbed a seat at the stickiest table I think I've ever sat at in my life. After waiting for about 15 minutes and never hearing my name, I noticed a guy walked up to the counter and was handed a black bag. Next to the bag they handed him sat another black bag. I wonder if that's mine, I thought. So I walked back up to the order pickup area and asked they guy, "Did you call my name, Barry?" He checked all the tickets lined up and said to me in the most smug tone he could muster, "Dude, I don't have anyone named Barry". And then just went back to doing whatever. I said, "Hey man, do you not remember? I was just up here looking for my ToGo order. You told me you guys were ba..." and he cut me off and goes, "Oh ToGo?" And then walks over to the black bag that was sitting there and goes, "Barry?" I nod, and he snatched the back up and slings it on the counter and goes back to doing whatever. I said, "Hey man, how long has it been sitting there?" He smugly replied (as if I was a burden) "probably like five minutes" When I asked how come he didn't call me he just ignored me. He just turned around and went back to doing whatever, totally ignoring me.I said, "Look man, I don't want to get back to my hotel (about 10 minutes away) and my food be cold." He just looked at me and shrugged and went back to ignoring me, as if I was a burden to him and the store. I said "hey man, I think it's BS you're ignoring me" to which he just turned around and walked away. Honestly he's lucky I didn't pull him across the counter and teach him some manners, because his momma obviously didn't. Also, the food sucked. But I'm not sure if it was because, and as I suspected, when I got back to the hotel both burgers and the fries were cold. It was so bad we didn't even eat it. We just threw it away. An absolute waste of $40 (and if I'm being honest, I'm not even sure if hot the food would be worth those prices). Any way this place sucks and I hope and bunch of terrible stuff happens to that dude.

My choices were 2 scrambled eggs, the sweet cream Belgian waffle, spicy homemade sausage patties & hash-browns. I also ordered their amazing orange juice. Our food arrived rather quickly & every last bite was incredible!! There was very little talking, our waitress checked in at a perfect rate & the cabin feeling atmosphere enhanced the experience. My dad finished his breakfast, while my son & I both took home leftovers. I will say, the leftovers made a wonderful dinner. 3 stars. Stopped in…read morearound 6:00 on a Tuesday evening. We were really craving breakfast food and drinks, and this place met all the criteria. The restaurant itself is in an older building, but there's a ton of seating up front and even more in the back -- it's pretty large once you walk through and see how big it is, so getting a table shouldn't be an issue. There's also reserved parking behind the building, so if you don't see anything on the street, head around back. Service was fast and friendly, and our waiter did a great job. French toast -- my wife's pick. She said it was solid -- probably not the best she's ever had, but good. Pancakes -- came out hot, fluffy, fresh, and very large. Probably eight or nine inches in diameter. Two eggs over hash (+ country gravy) -- super good. I'd recommend adding the gravy to your hash, or getting it on the side so you can add a little at a time -- it's pretty heavy and dense, and there was enough of it that I had to sift through to get to my hash and eggs. Heads up: I underestimated how large their plates are. Once all the food came out, it was clear we weren't finishing it. Coffee drinks -- the biggest letdown of the evening. My wife got her regular cappuccino and couldn't even finish it. I ordered an iced coffee drink with whiskey and Kahlúa in it, and it just wasn't good -- I don't know what the balance was supposed to be, but I'd 100% not order it again. They have a lot of alcoholic coffee drinks on the menu and I sifted through them thinking this one looked like the best of the bunch. Would not recommend it. The other thing was karaoke night. I enjoy karaoke, but I wasn't expecting it -- it wasn't going when we sat down and started up about thirty minutes later, and we were fairly close to the singers. It was loud, and karaoke talent is always hit or miss. This was mostly a miss. Not what we were in the mood for at that moment. Pro tip: Come for the breakfast, skip the coffee drinks -- and know that a weeknight evening might land you in the middle of karaoke. In general, this is a great place to go for breakfast, and I'd highly recommend it for that. I'd return if I wanted a nice breakfast meal, morning or evening.
