Once again we visited the Western Omelette. It is a blue collar breakfast and lunch place that remains a down to earth favorite for my family. It is famous for its chili but we love going for breakfast. We were in Colorado Springs for the balloon festival and had to stop in for breakfast before we left town. It is busy, friendly, efficient and the food itself is quite tasty. This time there were three of us but we ordered two plates and shared. The first was a special. It was a French toast sandwich with egg, bacon, ham and more along with hash browns. A side of green chili too! The other was a plate of biscuits and gravy. I took a photo of the shared plate I had and it was loaded with flavor. We live in the Denver area now but whenever I think of a breakfast restaurant it is this place that I long for! Was greeted immediately after walking in, it's a sets yourself restaurant. Service was very friendly and welcoming. The serving portions are HUGE. But the food is delicious. Went here for Mothers Day and Mishae was our Server. We have distorted best Colorado Green Chili in the State at the Western Omelette! I got the hot and Addi got the mild. I have been searching for a good green chili. Found it. This place has a lot of local love, it was hopping. That's why I have wanted to try it. One of the best breakfasts I've had while in Colorado. Go online and read the story of why the owner opened the place in 1992. The place has incredible vibe and is so welcoming. Buut I always request the medium heat, you're able to enjoy the flavor and ur food, and at the same time you get enough to almost break a sweat. I tried the Very hot green chili, and those are only for the hardcore brave ones. Let me tell you, my mouth was burning for 30min. I can't tolerate that type of heat but be my guest if that's how you roll. The servers are always so kind and I absolutely love the host, he's always so welcoming. On my first visit to Western Omelette server Alma greeted me and we had a friendly visit before I began studying the extensive menu. Alma returned with my water and asked if I needed more time which I did and she went about helping her other tables. She returned a few minutes later to see if I had decided on a meal. I ordered the Yummy Breakfast. As it was mid morning and not very busy my meal was ready quickly. The Yummy Breakfast is a massive platter of french toast, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. At first I thought I had ordered too much food but took my time and ate nearly all of it. I have another favorite downtown Colorado Springs breakfast place I frequent but I will be going back to the Western Omelette in the future as it is very good and a nice vibe. read more

We were regular customers throughout the 90's to mid 2000's. At that time the food was excellent and so was the service. When we were regulars it was packed on Saturdays and Sundays within 30 minutes of being open. Went back today for the first time in years and was very disappointed to see how much this restaurant has declined. And we arrived 1 1/2 hrs after they were open and there were less than a dozen customers in the restaurant. The food is ok but not worth what we paid for it. Their TV scroll says ask for a sample of chile before you order because it is hotter than most people expect. We asked for a sample and barely got a teaspoonful and definitely were not informed of any charges for the sample. I received my bill and gave my card to the server and when she came back the bill was $5 more than the one she had given me. I asked for an explanation and was told it was the sample of green chile I had asked for. No mention from the waitress when I asked for it that I would be charged especially not $5 for less than a teaspoon! What a disappointment. read more

This place is an institution in Colorado Springs, I can't even describe what they mean to me and have throughout my life. The food is amazing and tastes like home, some dining rooms should NEVER change and the omelette's hasn't in years. You want green chili that's gonna light you on fire? Yea, theirs will. The breakfast burrito is my go to, however the huevos rancheros and the Harley are also favorites. You won't be disappointed in anything you order; servers are rad and always nice and plenty of parking. They do get VERY busy, especially on the weekends but it's totally worth the wait! read more
