Was greeted immediately after walking in, it's a sets yourself restaurant. Service was very friendly and welcoming. The serving portions are HUGE. But the food is delicious. The French toast is so sweet and flavorful I didn't even need syrup. You can tell the food was made with quality ingredients. It very much gives hole in the wall restaurant but it's so worth it to stop in and give them a try!

Went here for Mothers Day and Mishae was our Server. We have distorted best Colorado Green Chili in the State at the Western Omelette! I got the hot and Addi got the mild. The Hot is truly very spicy and all their chilis are delicious ! Every meal is made with care and full of flavor! Even the Bloody Mary had many levels of taste! Our server Mishae was perfect and she got incredibly busy as the morning progressed....it was Mother's Day Breakfast! Highest marks for everything! A must visit and regular return!

This place is the ultimate non pretentious brunch spot and now my weekly routine! Some excellent home style breakfast items, huge portions and you can get your mimosas & bloody's too. We especially love that they are dog friendly and have a lovely patio with plenty of shaded spots. The staff is just phenomenal, go above and beyond for their customers.

Great food and friendly service! This is a family diner with regular staff and regular customers. The menu is quite extensive for breakfast and for lunch and alcoholic drinks are served as well. The artwork is eclectic and reminiscent of old route 66 diners. You always feel welcome and the food is reliably good

Stopped in for breakfast. Friendly service and good food. Serving size is large and price friendly. Ranch potatoes were delicious and so was the country fried steak with hash and pancakes.

French toast was delicious the bacon is to die for

I have been searching for a good green chili. Found it. This place has a lot of local love, it was hopping. That's why I have wanted to try it. A big hot air balloon event, Labor Day weekend when I say hopping I mean it. The staff was slaying it and handling it all with grace. The staff was amazing. Very attentive and acknowledged the situation of the mass amounts of people that love this place. So be patient, totally worth it! I can't wait to get back here.

First timer here, loved all the art and pictures of history!! The restaurant was very clean and unique. The menu was pretty long, also the prices were a little high for simple food. But it was good. Four dollars plus for a drink is a little too pricy I say... But I do have to say the service was very delightful. All in all it was a good experience.

One of the best breakfasts I've had while in Colorado. Go online and read the story of why the owner opened the place in 1992. The place has incredible vibe and is so welcoming. Our server Jasmine was super friendly and attentive. The food - so so yummy! Watch out for the green chili - it packs a punch in a very very good way! We spoke with the owner on our way out and told him how awesome it was! Highly recommended!

    Excellent breakfast!!

What a fantastic experience. We were detoured from our planned activity due to needing a tire repair, but then found this lovely restaurant. We had the best breakfast and conversation with the owner. If you are in Colorado Springs, I highly recommend!! Thank you!!

Good service. Wayyy too expensive for a diner. $5 coffee, 4.68 for a sweet tea. A classic breakfast with eggs bacon and toast is $17! And only up from there. Tastes like any other diner

Spicy bloody (perfect mix), and mimosa.

It is an underground restaurant that is dimly lit with Alice in the Wonderland themed decor, food, and drinks. The service was phenomenal. What a fun idea! The ambiance is kind of both chill and yet lively depending on where you're sitting (bar or restaurant). The Alice-in-Wonderland decor, dim lighting and funky eye-opening paintings made it super fun. Our server was very attentive and our meal delicious. The goat cheese balls were a nice appetizer as was the herb crusted baked salmon and the chicken cordon bleu. I wouldn't sleep on their iteration of a "moon pie" either. It is an absolute MUST have! What is beyond WILD and now a bit hilarious is that I was so busy soaking it all in visually that I somehow missed the part about the building being a former morgue. I didn't learn that little fact until half way through my meal. Maybe that explains why none of my photos came out, or why they all came out looking crazy blurred :-/ All of those lost souls still roaming around there? What a concept! Definitely give it a try t if you're in the area.

First off, the interior is really fun and interesting. I sat at the bar. The selection of small batch locally made beer was impressive. I ended up getting an orange blossom beer that was suggested by the bartender. So good!! I wasn't very hungry so they let me order the child's plate and I got brisket. The server suggested I try the red beans and rice. I was a little skeptical because I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans, and had some of the best. I was so impressed, I almost wished that I had just ordered a bowl of beans and rice. The brisket was really tender as well. Very friendly service and food appeared in minutes after I ordered. The smell of smoked meat hit me the second I stepped inside, and I knew I was in for a good time. I grabbed a seat on the patio, where string lights twinkled and a local band was warming up. The brisket came out tender with a perfect bark, and the pulled pork melted like it had something to prove. The burnt ends were the real show-off, though--crispy, smoky little bites of joy. Even the sides had personality, especially the spicy slaw that snuck up on me. Service was friendly and easygoing, like everyone there was happy just to be surrounded by barbecue and good vibes. Parking was a little tight, and there was a short wait, but between the music and the beer list, I didn't mind a bit. It wasn't flawless, but it was flavorful, fun, and full of character--just the kind of place that makes you want to kick back, loosen your belt, and stay a while. Solid four stars and a full stomach to prove it.

Cool Vibe, Average Food…read more I wanted to give The Public House at The Alexander a shot because of all the positive reviews. The setting definitely has something going for it--the building's history as a former movie studio gives the place a unique, hip atmosphere. But unfortunately, I felt like the vibe was a bigger part of the experience than the food. The restaurant was warm inside, and the cleanliness was a concern. Our tables felt sticky, the overall dining area didn't feel particularly clean, and there was a pesky fly flying around while we were eating. We ordered the wings, the Craft Burger, and the Candied Valente Burger. We specifically asked for the wings to be extra crispy and light on the sauce. Unfortunately, they weren't crispy at all--the skin was actually somewhat soft. One of the wings also seemed questionable as to whether it was fully cooked, which was concerning. I will give them credit for one thing: the wings are huge. The ranch dressing also wasn't very good. My wife thought the flavor of her burger was good but said it was overcooked. My burger initially came out overcooked as well, but the staff did fix it, which I appreciated. The burger itself had a nice grilled flavor, but with all the toppings together, the overall burger was just so-so. The fries had a light batter on them, and I think they could have been really good, but they were just average. We also tried the Diet Coke, but the fountain mix wasn't very good, so we switched to iced tea. Unfortunately, the tea didn't taste freshly made either. Overall, The Public House has a cool, interesting vibe, and I can understand why people enjoy the atmosphere. The former movie-studio setting definitely makes it different from your typical restaurant. But for me, the food was average at best, and the cleanliness and temperature inside took away from the experience. Maybe the atmosphere is what people are really coming for--but based on our meal, I don't think the food lived up to the hype.
