4.5 Was a little wary at first with the graffiti outside the front of the restaurant and empty dining room when we first entered the restaurant but all the food we ordered was so delicious. I did finally notice numerous take out orders so I guess most people do take out. I'm not a fan of sweet & sour soup but the one here is so good with large shrimp pieces. Lobster was on point and the noodles underneath were perfect. My 5-yr old is not a seafood fan but loved the noodles. The basil clams were nice and plump which is usually not the case when we order this from other similar restaurants. The only complaint is our table being sticky and it was not the cleanest restaurant nor do they seem to care about decor or ambiance. Service was good though. If all you care about is great food with good portions this is the place.

This place is a little divey but the food is exceptional. The owner /chef learned to cook in Shanghai. He did so for 5 years and has been cooking here for 14. The dining room is large. The night we were there, it was not crowded. The menu is extensive, moderately priced. They have cod, shrimp, clams, catfish, scallops, squid, crab and lobster. They have lots of soups, noodles and fried rice. I had the cod in black bean sauce. It was so good. We also had beef with ginger and onion. Our last item was lemon chicken. Suprisingly good. The location is at Reseda and Sherman way. Not an area I normally hang out in. Parking is spare, on the side and back of the building. Try this place or order out. You will like it. I will eat here again. Support your local restaurants!

Beef, Ginger and Onion!!! The flavors with the beef ! The regular portion size of all 3 dishes where enough food for 2 adult men

Unfortunately, this is one of the worst tasting Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. I can't even understand how it was so crowded. Maybe it's the low prices. The hot and sour soup was OK, but tasted a little weird compared to what I'm used to it other places. The eggroll was fine, typical greasy eggroll. The Kung pow chicken was just bizarre. It was covered in a sweet sauce and was all dark meat so it was very chewy and fatty and skin and to me was just gross. This is one of the first times where I just stopped eating halfway through and left because I didn't feel like finishing my meal because it was so disgusting. At least to me. I don't think my Kung pow chicken should be so sweet. I didn't order orange chicken or sweet-and-sour chicken, but maybe those would have been better? I don't know. All I know is I didn't even finish my meal because the food was not edible to me. Service was fine, the guy was very busy so I never got refills and the food came fast. I'm not coming back here ever again. It was just not even worth the $15 I spent for lunch and I left with a seriously bad taste in my mouth. Not recommended one bit.

The menu is quite large so there's a lot to choose from. The inside seemed nice and cozy with a pleasant simple look. Once I entered there was a register and take out area and I didn't have to wait long; the quote time was correct. I went with some basics and favorites of mine and was pleasantly pleased. Chicken Eggrolls - Four per order. They were good sized. Had a good crunch to them and made up of chicken and veggies (carrots, cabbage, green onion). A little bland inside which is common but the sauces (sweet and sour and hot Chinese mustard) help. War Wonton Soup - Good sized to share. Soup (chicken broth) had carrots, shrimp, cabbage, water chestnuts, chicken, a couple wontons filled with ground chicken. Nicely seasoned. Wonton strips provided on the side as well for a good crunch. Beef Chow Fun - Portion is big. Noodles, beef, green onion, sprouts. The establishment is a little hidden however and located in a shopping center with some other businesses. Parking is readily available. Prices were reasonable and fair to the times.

The menu was on laminated paper which must be a few years old and felt disgusting to touch. I started with hot tea and it was served in a metal cup. I wish they served it in a nice ceramic container for customer's enjoyment. For lunch, we ordered chicken chow mein and their pork and crab dumpling (like a xiao long bao). The chicken chow mein had a boatload of cabbage and probably 10 strips of chow mein noodles. It should have been called cabbage noodles (lol). The pork and crab dumplings would have been a hit, but the dumpling shell had a "soapy" smell. The meat inside was soft and tasted good, but I couldn't get over the smell of the shell. We would have also wanted to try seaweed salad, but it was unavailable on this day. The parking at Northern Cafe is plenty. The staff is also courteous. But given the state of the food and overall feel, I give it only two stars. Truthfully, you can find better Chinese food close by this area. There's Maru Ramen on Reseda and Nordhoff, or Silverlake Ramen on Rinaldi. And no, I don't work for either of those places. All of this feedback is based on customer experience.

Most of the takes are round which is the best for group dining and conversation. On top of the round table, each one came with a lazy Susan for easy sharing of dishes. The staff was super friendly and attentive which is great. The menu is basic and easy to read with a simple layout but nice options. So why three stars? Well the food was hit or miss on this day. It was the first time I've eaten at hot wok. But others in the party frequent the restaurant. One person ordered the sizzling rice soup and said it had been better on other occasions. For the tale we ordered a pork dumpling starter, which was fine. Our main dishes were the orange chicken that was good. The kung pao chicken that was bad. A tad dry and flavorless. Ma Po tofu for a vegan eater which the said wasn't the best representation and for some reason the kitchen didn't add onions to help it be vegan. We had vegetable chow fun noodles that were good. We had sautéed green beans that were sautéed with ginger and not garlic which weee bad. You add it up and there's your three stars. I'd eat there again but be more directive on how I'd want the dishes done if possible.
