Szechuwan Garden is the kind of consistently good neighborhood go to for American-Chinese food that we all wish and hope for. I have been ordering take-out from here (phone or online ordering options available) and it's always an easy experience. Everything is always made in a timely manner and packaged nicely. This location of Szechuwan (they have another location in Canoga Park) is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. I haven't dined in yet but it seems pretty modern inside. There is parking in the rear, a shared parking option in the strip mall and also street is available of course. Prices are great for the quality and quantity. They have a lunch special from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm that is very well priced with great options. The menu is vast with over a hundred items and so there should be something to always try or to choose from for specific tastes/needs. Portions are generous and are usually good to be shared. Everything I've ordered has been pretty flavorful. Somethings I've ordered but not limited to: Lo Mein (choice of protein, combo, or veggie) - Nicely cooked thin wheat soft noodles with good flavor and proteins are tender Walnut Shrimp - Shrimp has a slight crisp and yet still succulent Tangerine Beef -Crispy beef with onions and red chilis. Has a good chew, sauce is not overpowering. Fried Wontons - Fried wontons with ground chicken. The filling seemed limited and almost non-existent last time, so I'll be skipping this in the future. Pepper and Salt Shrimp - I would recommend to order this dining in vs take-out as the batter could get soggy if you're doing take-out. Vegetable Egg Roll - Good sized egg rolls with a good crunch and filled nicely with cabbage, carrot and green onion. Sesame Chicken - Deep fried chicken in a house special sauce. Sauce is very good with some sweetness but is not overly sweet. Mongolian Beef - Tender beef with green and white onions. Flavorful sauce.

    Cream cheese wonton.

This is very disappointing. There's nothing inside and these wontons are pretty expensive. I can't really speak on the flavor because there's hardly a filling and it's soo hard and crunchy it almost cut my jaw. I was happy to get them I ordered 2 orders and I'm just disappointed

Brought my friend here for her birthday dinner. Everything was delicious. We had BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Crispy Honey Walnut Shrimp, Shrimp Egg Fu Young and the Pu Pu Platter for 2. All cooked to order and came from the kitchen, fresh and hot and tasty. We had enough to split and take leftovers which were even better the next day and the price was very reasonable. Great customer service. The raspberry lemonade tea was delicious and they kept the refills coming at our request. I will be back!!! Thank you!

The food was great and so is the quality. The service is fast. This restaurant is beautiful. I love their lunch and Dinner combo Deals.

horrible customer service, the ads do not match the prices when you go in they up the prices and add extra stuff. i finished my meal no refills no check up they just came to throw the check at me and demanded a tip and the man raised his voice and said i HAD to tip and i refused and he got upset and talked under his breath upset. 0/10 experience i would not recommend coming to this establishment.

    Nice decor. Very clean.

I've had oyster shooters before and loved them but didn't like their take on it here. Way too much horseradish and the vodka portion was way off (too little vodka) and unbalanced. Oysters Rockefeller - 4 1/2 stars. Quite meaty and delicious, such a great flavor and take on this classic dish. Crab Cake - 4 stars. Quite the large portion, and quite good! Our waitress (who was fabulous) brought out an ice cream Sunday to celebrate the birthday occasion and I have to say it was also fabulous! I didn't realize they had a complimentary parking lot in the back, that's a huge bonus. Would definitely come back here for a special occasion, this spot is solid!

We were able to walk right in and grab a table as the afternoon rush was over. First, it is a cute restaurant with nice ambiance inside. You can also eat outside it looked like, but it was hot so that was not going to be an option. Started with the mini crab cakes and the tuna on crispy rice. The crab cakes had a good amount of crab in them, which was really nice, but they definitely tasted under seasoned. The tuna on crispy rice was great though, topped with avocado and a spicy mayo. Nice crispiness on the outside, soft rice in the middle, good flavor, just a nice bite. For entrees we tried the chimichuri steak sandwich, the French dip and the lobster roll. The lobster roll looks the part but was light on the actual lobster, in our opinions. Felt the bread to everything else ratio was really off, so it feels like mostly bread with some lobster here and there. The chimichuri steak sandwich comes with arugula, gruyere, roasted peppers and grilled shallots and was a decent bite but not overly memorable. The French dip, on the other hand, was really tasty with that au jus and melted cheese. That was the real winner. Overall, nice ambiance, drinks were decent, some misses and some hits. If you go, definitely get the French dip and the tuna of sticky rice, slip that liner roll and the mini crab cakes and up to you on the chimichuri steak sandwich.

The people who I assume own the restaurant, working as both the waiters and chefs, were incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they serve. Since we were completely new to Indonesian cuisine, they patiently answered our questions and gave us great recommendations, which made the experience even better. This is exactly the kind of small business you want to support. The flavors were unlike anything I've had before, and I loved getting to try something so different. My favorite dish was easily the grilled fish. It reminded me of the Filipino grilled fish I grew up eating, so it had a comforting familiarity while still showcasing its own distinct Indonesian flavors. If you're looking for authentic Indonesian food or simply want to try something new, I highly recommend LaaLaaPan. I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.

The balado wasn't spicy, but the sambal definitely was. I also missed having sambal ijo and some gulai gravy, both of which would have made the plate feel more complete. The bakwan jagung had a similarly homemade style. Depending on your preferences, it will either make you miss your mom's cooking or leave you craving a crispier, restaurant-style bakwan jagung packed with corn kernels. The soda gembira, like many Indonesian places here, use Sprite instead of club soda or plain soda water, which makes it far too sweet. The syrup they used tasted authentic, though. Overall, you may love this place specifically because the food tastes like something you grew up eating. However, if your preference leans more toward polished, restaurant-style Indonesian food, it may feel a little underwhelming.

The building called The Chateau, a giant white colonial office complex on Ventura Blvd. between…read moreWinnetka and De Soto, has always seemed wildly out of place in the San Fernando Valley. But after more than 4 decades, this hulking structure reminiscent of a New England governor's mansion, has finally found its true purpose: to be the home of Lobster Guys, a Maine-style lobster shack now nestled in the Northeast corner of the facade. In contrast to the immensity of the building, Lobster Guys is a cozy shop with just 3 tables inside and a diminutive kitchen cranking out a mid-sized menu of Lobster Rolls, chowders, salads and a few other sandwiches. What little wall space there is has been deftly decorated with pieces of distressed, seaside bric-a-brac, giving the place a real sense of New England. And with the Summer sun streaming through the colonial-style windows, you really forget that you're dining between a Porsche dealer and a Target. They've got both styles of lobster roll available (Maine, cold w/mayo, or Connecticut, warm w/melted butter), as well as a crab roll and a version that's a mix of both crustaceans. All are served on the traditional, flat-sided bun grilled in butter. I opted to have my roll Maine style with the cold lobster salad, and found it to be a generous portion. The structure of those buns makes it easy to rest the lobster on its top, making the sandwich look fuller than it is -- but not here!! Lobster Guys really gives you your money's worth of lobster, and that's even with their prices running about $7 cheaper than what's offered at some of the well-known places in Malibu. The lobster meat was fresh and flavorful; properly cooked, so the texture was pleasing. I found the lobster salad to have a bit too much mayo, but it wasn't enough to ruin the meal. A lady sitting next to me had the warm butter version, and I think I'll try that next time. I added a small side of French Fries, and they were nicely crisped and seasoned, though the ketchup dispenser was almost out, and what emerged was watery -- but, as there was only one person working the entire shop, I decided to forget the ketchup and just enjoy them "naked." They were just fine without it. If you want to dine al fresco, there are a number of tables outside, situated in spaces within the colonnade. Again, if you face towards the building, you'll feel like you're on the East Coast (if you can ignore the traffic on Ventura Blvd. just a few feet away). In the end, while the food and service could use a few tweaks, this is a terrific addition to the neighborhood, and a place to get a really enjoyable bite that's just not that common in this part of the city. Do go!
