Came here last night for some after dinner drinks and this place was buzzing! I've been coming here on and off for years but have not been on a Friday night in a while. I forgot about the live music so it was a plus. The band played a great selection of songs while I was there and they were a good time! I love the cocktails here! 4.5 Stars I went here both in the evening on a weeknight and for brunch on a weekend. Overall I was pleasantly surprised considering I've walked past it for years and never noticed or went in. I also don't drink so it's all about the food for me, and the menu here definitely stands out. Pros: 1. The food is really good! They have some unique items here that I have not seen anywhere else, and there are dishes here that I'd come back for and bring friends from out-of-town to try out. 1a. Philly-style breaksfast burrito (added avocado): This is one of the best burritos I've ever had. It's like the best of Philly cheesesteak with breakfast. The scrambled eggs mix with this miso cheddar cheese whiz to make this perfect "runny egg" blend that is difficult to describe but tastes amazing. There's a few tater tots mixed in to give it a little crunch without being too much, and the grilled onions really make this a delight at any time of the day. I know the description and the ingredients sound a little weird, but seriously this is a phenomenal burrito. 1b. The cheese naan bread is really good, and oddly enough, it is better than the naan at most of the Indian restaurants I've been to. It is nice and toasty on the outside, and then fluffy and soft on the inside with just a bit of cheese to give it amazing flavor without being too heavy. If you get the breakfast plate with eggs, you can also exchange the bread for naan (or just add the naan on the side). While the toast is decent, the naan + eggs is really nice. An unusual combination, but once you have it you wonder why nobody else thought of this before. 1c. Tater tot waffle: What a genius invention. It looks like a waffle, but it's made of tater tots smashed together. If you like a crunchy tater tot that is gigantic, this is the ultimate. It has the absolute maximum amount of surface area, so it's all crunchy "edge". 1d. The ketchup: This is like a concentrated paste that is more sour than regular ketchup. I *think* it would be healthier because it's missing all the sugar. It is really good on the burrito because the acidity lightens up the heavy ingredients and creates this amazing balance. 2. I like that they have an outdoor area that is pet-friendly. It's got a nice little garden feel, and there is a lot of pedestrian traffic so there's a good, active vibe. 3. Good service. During my first visit, there was a minor hiccup, but the manager was very responsive and attentive. On my second visit, everyone was super nice and someone came by the patio to refill water/coffee and check up on us frequently enough. 4. Great location at the corner of Fair Oaks and Colorado, perfect before or after you do some shopping along Old Town Pasadena. It is right next to the free 90-minute structure (enter on Green or Raymond), and the outdoor patio faces the alley. Just steps away if you strategically park in the very NW corner of the garage. Cons: 1. While I really like the concentrated ketchup on the food (like the burrito, or even with the bacon and toast), it can overpower the fries and be a bit too sour for my taste. 2. Because the patio is great for our perfect SoCal weather, seating outside tends to quickly fill up, so go a bit earlier if you can. If you're like me all these years, then when you come out of the garage or walk up Fair Oaks, you don't see KRG because it's in the alley and hidden by the wall of trees. Or you might see people drinking and not realize that it's a foodie's dream in disguise. But this is definitely a hidden gem worth checking out. read more

Ordered a couple Drinks at the bar but was disgusted when the server, who just touched money and the register, picked up our lemons and dropped them in our drinks! We were appalled! Then not only did he do that but he actually dropped a lemon on the bar and picked it up and STILL put it in our drink. CROSS CONTAMINATION!!! Anywho, the food tho was AMAZING!! Hence the 4 stars. Gastropub sounds inviting for both drinkers and foodies and I'm only the latter. This place, prior to Covid, seemed like it was frequented more by the bar crowd. Of course that's not the case now. They were closed for a while earlier in the pandemic but lately they seem to be doing better as they have a great outdoor patio, though it's in the back of the restaurant so many people walking on Colorado may not know that. The food is very good, even though it's a limited menu and what one would think of as bar food. However, I think that their cheeseburger is one of the best ones in Pasadena. read more

This is a great place to cool your jets from shopping in Old Town. I brought my sister, aka the Hawaiian, here for a drink while we were doing some last minute Christmas shopping. If it had been warm I would have opted for the patio which I love. Instead it was a little chilly with our wacky California weather, so we sat inside at one of the community sized bar tables. I think I ordered some kind of Christmassy Ale which was good and my sister ordered wine. I don't know why she would order wine in a pub, but she did and I have no idea what kind she ordered. The bartender was nice and not pretentious which is always a good sign. We kicked back, enjoyed our beverages and just hung out for a bit. I will definitely be back again. read more

Kings Row had a bomb deal with their happy hour since it's daily from 4pm-7pm with well drinks for only $4. And if you don't know what is daily... it's happy hour from Monday-Sunday. After their food and drinks shot up a $1 more, I lost my interest. Don't get me wrong, still a good place to hang out for their craft drinks and beers, but happy hour was what boyfriend, girlfriends and I enjoyed the most. Try to aim the bar seats! It's self serve. You have to walk up to the bar area to order drinks and food. They will give you a number afterwards. So make sure you have that number up, else they will look lost. Drink menu and food menu are hung on the wall, so prepare to look up. There are many craft drinks, and craft beers. Percentage of alcohol is also listed next to the craft beers, so pick your picks! Food... Tried their onion rings. Pretty interesting since they don't use yellow onion nor white. They actually use red onion. Thinly sliced, battered and fried. Not oily. Not sure if the fish and chips worth it's price. It's basically a chunk of fried fish and a bunch of fries. I think it'll be worth it if there was more than one piece of fish. Overall, still check out their craft beers and drinks. As for food, try out their onion rings! I will probably randomly come back if I have no other place to hang when I'm in the area. After dinner, was strolling through Old Town and we cut down one of my favorite little alley of bars when we saw King's Row. Busy, but not too crowded, it looked like a good spot to grab a nightcap. Stepped inside and we were excited to see some old arcade games. We were considering having a serious Galaga battle when I saw a couple of guys & guitars setting up at the bar. We stepped over to the bar to grab a couple of drinks, but 2 seats opened up and we sat down. What was supposed to be 1 round, turned into 2. Why? First, the music. 2 guys and their guitars playing chill 80's/90's covers. Awesome. I heard a little Soundgarden, Tom Petty, a great cover of Tainted Love, etc. Plus, they threw in some originals. Second, the drinks. For some reason, we decide to order Greyhounds (grapefruit juice & vodka). They were FANTASTIC Because they use freshly squeeze grapefruits. Perfect. I had the summer flight (strawberry puree + cucumber vodka) can I get a hell yea? that was the business and then some. Later I tried the bosc and branches (delish!!! even better...) it's pear vodka, rosemary syrup, and some other stuff. Geez typing this up is making me drool. And the food? mmm MUST try the Portebello Fries. It was seasoned soooo well. If you don't like salty foods, it might be a tad bit over salted, but sooooo good with the pesto aioli. This is a chill and fun place to hang out and watch games. They have a great selection of craft beers and the bartenders are pretty friendly. Jenny was super nice and let my dad try some craft beers before he could decide what to get...loved her friendly attitude! Fish and chips were amazing and I was impressed with the fancy ketchup which didn't have any nasty ingredients or even high fructose corn syrup! Happy hour is pretty cool and not too crowded. So, I ended up here on a Monday night, with coworkers and friends to watch the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. It's a ways from my hood so with traffic and the accidents, I got there around halftime. No worries though - they still had beer. And it was still 4$. They also served food. I had some fish and chips as well as some chicken wings. It's bar food. It was edible but I wouldn't go there for just food again. Especially if you're not drinking to dull your sense of taste, or in this case, lack of. It bar food. I wasn't expecting gourmet quality. I didn't get it. By the way, order at the bar and grab a seat. No table service. But, it's a pretty cool, indoor, outdoor establishment. The bartenders are friendly and it was a nice mix as far as the crowd goes. Trivia was fun. 3rd place. Mainly thanks to the teams betting the house on the final question. As for the beer selection. It was okay. Would have liked to see more dark beers considering it's still the weather for it. But, I'm sure the selection is dictated by the regulars' taste. I'm not one of them and I won't be. I really enjoy gastropubs cause of their odd twist on longstanding favorites...that and the vast list of beers doesn't hurt either. Kings Row is large enough to hold a small crowd of people, but I can understand how this place could get packed during the weekends. There's a partition when you walk in, one side being the airconditioned side and the other, well, I call it the sauna. You essentially place your food/drink order at the bar and pay there, seat yourself and wait for your food to be delivered to you. I wanted to try everything. Luckily, I was with my friend who is amenable to my food choices (typical lunch would be 5 different dishes). We ordered the chicken and waffles (gluten free mind you), portabello fries, pork belly confit, crack mac and beef cheek poutine. The least impressive of the dishes was the pork belly, which was reminiscent of filipino "lechon kawali", at a much more expensive rate. I also had trouble with the crack mac. I get that the white chocolate adds that flair to this comfort dish, but I think I would've preferred it sans the sweet stuff. Really enjoyed the poutine with its generous chunks of tender beef and gravy, portabello fries were a half healthy half sinful treat, and the chicken/waffles, absolutely loved that --especially with that bacon'd out kale (?). I would definitely come back again and cozy myself up in the ac'd part of the restaurant, beer in hand, with a tableful of their delicious grub. read more

Chill place with wooden tables. Right next to the parking structure. Been here so many times, finally going to drop a review. If I had a bar to visit, I think Kings Row would fit me. That or the Blind Donkey. The speakeasy is a bit too off for me, I would rather visit hollywood for better speakeasy places. Weekdays are super chill. Kings Row is a great place for drinks and brunch. The outdoor seating is perfect for a sunny morning. You will see everything from dogs in strollers (yup!) to hot moms to college kids. The breakfast items that include egg are definitely the items to get here. The french toast, did not live up to the pictures that we saw posted, and were definitely prettier than they tasted. The egg omelette was solid, the naan breakfast sandwich was also good. The wings also pictured perfectly, but it was mostly skin and bones, no meat at all. A great place to hang. Always try and sit at the bar, especially if you a party of just two people. Found this place to have a small but mixed crowd: a couple of old guys, a family with small children and couples on dates. There was a small chalkboard listing beers on tap and food specials, at Happy Hour discounts it's okay to grab two drinks... or three like me. I went for the Moscow Mule since that is my fav. drink and it wasn't bad, but didn't use fresh ginger puree like NeoMeze, but at $4 it's a deal! I appreciate how they carry Stone, out of my beers enjoy the Allagash White the most (note: chocolate beer doesn' t taste like chocolate). The bartender Josh, was helpful and even cool enough to make small talk, maybe it's the hair but when I saw him I thought of Dr. McDreamy. =) The food served puts a slight spin on traditional British favorites. You have your Fish and Chips, Bangers and Mash and then Bubble and Squeak. I had no idea of what Bubble and Squeak was after a look up on Wiki it's a traditional way to use up leftover vegetables! It gets it's monkier from the sound it makes from cooking in the pan. O_o hmmm doesn't sound that appetizing... The Bangers and Mash wasn't bad but kind of on the boring side, but then again British food hasn't been known to be edgy and exciting. A few dishes on the menu used to bring British culture alive (scotch eggs, in particular). The menu is all American food now. Which is OK - but just a deviation from what I liked. (The onion rings are gone now, too.) The food is still good though. A bit overpriced, but hey - it's a gastropub - that's to be expected. Healthy selection of beers - usually in the $6 - $9 range. Enjoyable pub located in Old Town Pasadena, conveniently in the alley as you exit the Green St/Fair Oaks Public parking structure. Walked by many times and finally decided to stop by, and did enjoy my time. I got their pulled pork sandwich (tons of flavor and tender meat) which was good, but the sandwich is hard to mess up if we're being honest. I also got their Naan bread appetizer (not what you'd expect in an Pub), which had all the right flavors but was a bit starchy and not as refined as the ones in Indian restaurants. I didn't get to try their fish and chips, which I heard was good, but probably will my next time. Solid place, just nothing wonderful in particular. This may be one of my favorite spots for Sunday brunch in Pasadena. Mimosa carafes and live music can really make an afternoon lovely. The restaurant is order from the bar and seat yourself. We ended up ordering a steady stream of food from brunch through sandwiches. There were only two bartenders on this last time I visited and the ordering lines can be long. The stand out dish for me out of what we ordered was the Mac and cheese. Also the wings were very crispy since they are twice fried. Overall the vibe is very relaxed. Dub 8 was amazing!I have been here several times with co workers mostly. This place has a relaxed feel behind it. You gots to love with their is live band specifically like Cumbia, Salsa, Ska and Reggae. This place can easily be over looked because there is a long hall way before you enter. Their patio seems where you want to enter but you pretty much have to walk around to the front to the street entrance. Drinks: I just came here for a beer, we got their Hef. Pretty decent. Atmosphere: the people were cool, especially the band, and the people near the band. Mixed group, no specifically a dominant nationality. My fave area is outside. Easy to walk to if you park in the parking structure off Fair Oaks and Green. We tried the Double Burger with fries. Like everyone says, the fries are YUM. I'd come here just for the fries. They taste perfect when they first come out and taste perfect towards the end of your meal. The burger is really good too. It's been a while since I last reviewed the good ole watering hole, so this update is definitely overdue and so worth it! My bro and I decided to make our nonetheless subdued Saturday a little exciting by hitting up Old town Pasadena and do a little bar hopping - we agreed to only have a beer in each stop, you know what I mean? almost like "The World's End" kind of agenda (if you haven't seen it - go see it), hit one bar at a time to an ultimate goal BUT after the first bar, here comes King's Row, the oinker with the crown - After the first sip of their refreshing Heavenly Hefe, we hung around for a while, we saw a group of dudes setting up their instruments - Live music coming up! - That sure nailed our feet right there and then - and boy are we glad we stuck around. Trio Frio! sure rocked the night! ---so much for having a pint of beer per stop, 5 pints of beer after we were still having a blast! The crowd made it all quite enjoyable to stay but seriously these guys (Trio Frio) really brought their "A" game! After they performed Black Sabbath's War Pig (requested by yours truly) That's it!, f*ck the other bars for tonight, We're staying at King's Row - and there we stayed until it's all done hahaha The bartenders that night were all pretty darn attentive and quick (good job), the craft beer selection was awesome but the Heavenly Hefe sure kept us in "good-happy spirits" I love that beer! Hands down my favorite bar in Pasadena. King's Row is the perfect place to grab a drink after work or for a weekend brunch. They have several draft beers from local breweries and cocktails that are craftily curated on their seasonal menu. I personally adore their rotating slushy or frozé (frozen rosé: the perfect mix of sweet bubbles and ice). The bartenders are always accommodating and give great drink ideas! They also have a growing food menu, I've only tried several appetizers like the fries, but they have extended to salads, burgers, and burritos that I've heard great reviews about. The bar itself is super cozy, with high ceilings and industrial vibes. Seating is limited in the main bar, but there is another room, that is somewhat arcade inspired and really cool to hang out in. Pros: they have live music on the weekends which is such a rare find for Pasadena area. The patio is perfect during the summer to sit and talk and drink delicious sangria. All of the appetizers I have had have been tasty, fresh and decent for bar food. They have a nice selection of wines, beers and cocktails to choose from. Cons: it can get really loud when the bar is full and it becomes difficult to hear the person sitting across from you and makes for a screaming contest. Happy hour prices are not that "happy." Sports pub? Nah. Playoffs NBA game on (Warriors vs Kings) and instead of a live audio feed they have soul music playing. Three guys behind the bar, place is half dead, and when asking them to turn on the game sound: "we are busy serving drinks." California service clearly does not exist at this place. read more

If it wasn't for Shelly I wouldn't be leaving this review. Tequila selection is great, I loved my Cascahuine and my girlfriend loved her cocktail. It was all good until the bartender with the struggle pigtails refused to make a mai tai, he uttered, "No we don't have it, we won't make it". Shortly after I asked the other bartender if they had orgeat, she said yes, I asked about the mai tai and she said yeah of course, and proceeded to make one of the best I've had. KRG nice atmosphere, Friday day night live band and descent drinks. Seating can be a challenge come before 10pm to catch a table or its standing room only but specious venue. Plenty of drink options beers, cocktails and rotating slushy. Long Island comes in a taller than normal glass and pretty strong. Good mixologist and variety of cocktails with cool names. I tried "before the night falls, orange beer, pina colada slushy and white album. I have high tolerance safe to say no buzz for me but know your drink limit. Parking is tight, meters but I recommend ride sharing services. Pasadena Police Park in alleyway ten mins before closing to catch irresponsible drinkers. Security little pushy and rude asking my coworker to finish his glass of water. I have three stars mainly bc the men's restroom is horribly unkempt, smelly, small and maintenance clearly is not prioritized. I personally probably wouldn't come back but good place to socialize and great optics. read more
