I don't like my waiter's attitude. I'm deaf. I use note on iPhone to communicate with people if needed because I'm deaf. So Because,I typed "it doesn't taste like Sprite" on note. The people like the waiter can read and understand what I need. She read but she kept asking me face to face "what kind drink you want" I kept pointing with my finger at the word Sprite on my phone. then she turned her head to my DEAF friend and call me DUMB BASICALLY by hitting her forehead with her hand. That's how you want waiters to treat customers with awful attitude? No. No way. I gave this 3 stars ONLY because foods aren't that bad. That's only reason about 3 stars. Last December we had a Christmas Party for a homeless shelter organization, Starting Over. We had a marvelous time. The restaurant was very clean including the bathroom. The food was well presented on a buffet and the buffet was very organized. The food was delicious!!!! And the price of the buffet was very reasonable. The staff was very attentive and polite. The Hostess was nice and friendly when we entered but that the extent of the good experience we had. It was 45mins before closing and they were already out of food. She became belligerent when asked why she didn't notify us that most of the food would not be replenished. When you enter the place it is dim and not so clean. I guess because the décor is old. No proper salad bar. All small quantities of separate items for make your own salad. The fish was bad. Fried fish too salty and artificially made to taste like fish. The steamed fish though good is appearance without salt or any spices. The carbs were bland just steamed. I've drove by they place many times and decided to give it a try today, what a big mistake. They have variety of food but there's something up with their beef. I had heard about the renovations which were very nice. The hibachi grill is a nice addition. However, when we entered there was a homeless man sleeping on the bench outside with his "please help" sign. You could smell he had souled himself and hadn't bathed for quite sometime. Mention of him was made to our wait staff. The food was better than before BUT on the way out, the smelly homeless man was inside, serving himself a plate. My wife told the staff that that was the same individual that was sleeping on the bench when we came in and was told someone paid for his meal. This place wasn't that bad! Honestly, I was expecting less, I swear. Weird, I know but usually whenever I go to buffet's there not all that! This one had ALOT of choice's...from chineese to pizza!! Okay let's start with the food. The food is edible and that's a good thing. The restaurant is a Chinese cuisine yet it's American dishes are subpar to those Chinese oriented. Does it make sense? No. The reason why Kings super buffet is 3/5 is the service. The food is exceptional and the area is crowded. The staff mostly consists of Chinese workers that aren't fluent in English. Therefore, there is a language barrier where they can't understand what customers are trying to say. They don't offer refills or pay attention to customers. First off, it's a buffet so don't expect freshly made gourmet food. But, for the price, ($9.99 dinner per person) you wouldn't expect the variety and flavorful food they offer. True, a lot of it is fried or sauteed (aka greasy) which I expect from Chinese buffets, but a lot of their dishes are very tasty. I don't come here often but when I am in the mood for some tasty but not so healthy eats (and seriously, who doesn't from time to time??) this place won't disappoint, especially at the price point. Just to illustrate the variety of food they offer, here are some staples: crab legs, sushi, french fries, salad bar, salt and pepper squid, veggie fried rice, dumplings, beef ribs, pepper beef, chicken and broccoli, pizza, coconut shrimp, different fish dishes, corn on the cob, etc. They also have a variety of ice creams (including sugar-free), chinese donuts, peanut brittle, flan and a variety of cakes. This buffet is always packed. Each and every time that we passed by there were so many cars outside in the parking lot you would think that they were giving the food away. Last night, we decided to finally go. I cheated on my diet for this place and that is saying a lot. As we entered we were greeted by who seemed to be the restaurant owner and his wife. As predicted, there was a line of people just waiting for a table. The owner approached us, asked how many in our party & gave us a number. He didn't take down our name or anything. The service was fast and efficient. Our waited Tom was always in the look out for empty plates to clear from your table. He was humorous and always had a smile in his face. Well, now to tell you about the food. They have a large selection for EVERYONE! For the sushi lovers they have a variety of sushi which I may say it is not your typical sushi buffet that is filled with a lot of rice. For the sea lovers, they had a nice selection of cooked fish, clams, oysters, shrimp, they also had raw clams and oysters, these clams that are not only steamed, but tossed in the oven with a layer of cheese (delicious), they have all you can eat coconut shrimp, shrimp balls (I recommend) fried shrimp, steamed shrimp, raw shrimp, shrimp with some white sauce that I didn't know what the heck it was but was delicious. And finally... ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB LEGS! My favorite thing to eat in a buffet! For those who strictly like Chinese food, you cannot go wrong here either. You have your typical chicken variety, roast beef, steaks, noodles, rice varieties and more. They also have about three different breads to choose from. They are constantly restocking the buffet. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure to try their peanut and pistachio brittle. They are amazing! They do have a large selection of desserts but out of the 8 or so that I tried only three were actually tasty. Stick to the ice cream, the brittle, and the flan. That is it. finally, if you are vegetarian, they too can accommodate your needs and wants up a large food selection. They have a fairly decent sized salad bar with all the good toppings. A nice variety of salad dressings too! As I started writing this review I was going to give this place 3 stars mainly because I cannot give it 3 1/2 because that is what I honestly think it deserves, but the more I think about it, I think they deserve a 4. Why did I change my mind? Well, I have visited many Chinese buffets that were small, smelly, nasty, the service was horrible. and the food was the worse. And this buffet is nowhere near that. Fool me once... A family member recommended this buffet , and my parents and I ventured there for dinner. I didn't think to check the reviews since said family member was raving about this place and their quality seafood. The variety was what you would expect at any buffet (snow crab legs, stone crab claws, oysters, and shrimp), but the quality was sub-par. The meat of every crab leg I cracked was stuck to the shell (prepared incorrectly) and there were shards of shell inside 3/5 oysters I ate which made for an interesting surprise with every bite. Having not so much luck with the seafood, I moved over to the hot items... Which lacked in flavor and were all lukewarm. I'm a fan because I like Chinese buffet, and King's Super Buffet meets all the criteria fro a satisfying pig out. At one time it may have suffered from the usual complaint of lousy Chinese buffet service. My waitress on my last visit was at least congenial. This is a big issue with me, where at least 7 out of 10 Chinese and Japanese buffets seem to exude a seething hatred their patrons. If you get there early enough (They open at 11:30 am) the cold bar has a mountain of shrimp, crawfish, and mussels on ice. Their sushi is so-so, but if you are after sushi and sashimi you would be better served at Kyojin on Federal Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, or Makino Japanese Buffet in Lauderhill. While the selections at King's Super buffet may be average, they have a lot of it and they keep the food from getting old and hard. Satisfied...is what comes to mind....it wasn't great or extremely bad.....it scratched that Chinese food itch....To get down to the details of it all I must say the renovations did some good....the place definitely has more of an upgraded feel with better bathrooms and more open area upon entering......now as far as the food is concerned I was pleasantly surprised at all of the seafood options available ranging from sushi to fried fish now I will say the sushi was really good but the fried fish sub par and the cakes were dryer than 3 month old weave. I have never been more disappointed, my son has gone to this restaurant for years and decided tonight to take his friend out for graduation join entering the restaurant he was asked to pay before eating , and he did . When he sat down he witnessed people of different cultures come in and seated without Payment. Racial profiling is not okay. A restaurant which as received our business for years no longer will.
