I definitely will not order again. i placed a $60 order for food and didn't receive everything in my order. I called back for a hour and finally spoke to with the manager Mike.. After an hour he still didn't return with the products I called and he didn't want to bring it back they just wanted to reimbursement me wanted to be done with it. I orders and paid the money I should get everything I ordered. I called back He told me for two hours they were bringing it back. I called for a third time and he said his lunch orders were priority and they would bring it now. The manager Mike said if you need to call Shawn at 5pm. I'm thinking that the person who first reviewed this diner on this site must have gone to some alternate universe's version of the Kings Valley Diner...because I've never had a bad experience there, and I've been going there since I was a little kid! Way back when I first started going to this great diner, it was known as the Texas Lunch. Back then it was owned by two Greek brothers and was open 24/7. Ownership has changed hands once or twice since then and the diner has gone through a few remodels as well, but those factors have never seemed to change the heart of my all-time favorite diner. My father has been going there even longer than I have, and I'm 31 now, so I'd wager he's been going there for probably close to 40+ years! He's even been known to give a helping hand on busy mornings, refilling patrons coffees from behind the 'bar' section of the diner! If this diner had a Hall of Fame, my father would likely be the first inductee! I'm sure that my father's patronage has certainly contributed to my never having a bad experience there as over the years, all the wait staff, bus staff, hosts and hostesses and even the cooks have gotten to know him...thus leading me to have great service and food each and every time. Regardless of that though, there's nothing on the menu that I've had that was ever bad. I do generally stick to my own usual items when I'm there, but I think that's more because of the (unfortunate...as I live in Philadelphia) infrequency of my visits. I have nothing to complain about with Kings. While the service was a bit slow, it was understandable since we were a group of over 30 people. The service was extremely professional and accommodating; and the food was good and filling. I wouldn't necessarily make efforts to come again since I'm never in the area, but I still think a five-star review is warranted for the seamless dining experience. read more

Decent diner. This would probably be a 2.5 review if given the option. Last night I had the chicken souvlaki with a greek salad...and it was OK. The salad was good - everything was very fresh and there was a ton of feta cheese...which I love. Be warned...if you don't like anchovies...they include 'em. (I happen to enjoy those fuzzy little nasty fishies from time to time...). The chicken in the souvlaki was pretty good - not over spiced like some places. Had some chicken noodle soup...it didn't knock my socks off. Just so so. My colleagues had a burger, steak sandwich and a greek salad with grilled chicken - everyone enjoyed what they had. Fries are good. The main issues were: -when we needed the check our waiter was MIA. We sat for an excessively long time waiting for the check. -the bathroom was nasty -speaking of the bathroom...no soap in the dispenser. yuck yuck yuck.....this is the second time this week that I couldn't wash my hands to the OCD extent that I needed to. I ordered the south of the border omelette and the chorizo inside it was extremely dry as was the omelette itself. The home fires had sautéed onions flopped on top and the rye toast (mind you I ordered wheat), was saturated in butter. My daughter ordered pancakes and bacon and her bacon was limp and unpleasant. When I moved from NJ I thought I was never going to find a Jersey style diner. For many years since 2005 that was the case. With that said this diner surpasses all my expectations of what I have come to expect. This diner is the real deal. Great food, great service, clean, comfortable. I'm surprised to only see 3.5 stars. This is the best diner in the area by far. It is a clean, well-run establishment. The wait staff are always friendly and efficient. The food is excellent with lots of choices on the menu to suit every palate. It is popular with locals and that I think is proof enough. read more

Yea this place had terrible customer service and the food was literally mid it took them 45 minutes after we got water and a drink for them to take our order and yet someone came in 25 minutes after us and was served and their order was taken 20 minutes before ours this is crazy bad for business read more

Have always been happy when I'be gone there in the past, but tonight arrived and the bus boy nicely got us beverages. Then noticed people who came in after us had a waitress take their orsee, and other guests that arrived after us. I walked to the counter and asked if we had a waitress, a waiter came right over and took our order. Then we waited and waited. Finally waiter came over with my food, not my dinner partners. I asked if they had to kill the cow and he said no, just a screw up in the kitchen. About ten minutes later, his meal came out. I then told the waiter that this was the worst experience I ever had there. He then said is there anything else I can get you. Today I ordered breakfast a simple sandwich and a combo. Not only did they forget food after we paid 31$ but they got the order wrong. When we called back the man in charge argued the fact that he was right and I ordered the food I paid for is wrong. So he then proceeds to tell me I won't be serves at the restaurant. Went there tonight while visiting family in New York. The food was awful. The server was rude. When I complained about the two dishes that were returned uneaten, they comped the cheaper meal and expected us to be satisfied. I was not at all satisfied. We ended up paying $50.00 for an order of pork chops, two burgers (one with fries and a kids meal). The meals we returned were seafood portofino and chicken parmigiana. I would highly recommend avoiding both of those. It'd be a better idea to just head to Michael's Diner down the road. Their service is great and the food is awesome. read more

Attention bleu cheese fans: If you want a giant salad heavy with an absurd amount of crumbled bleu cheese, get the NY Cobb Salad. Oh if there is even the slightest chance that this pronouncement could be taken as some kinda complaint; no, no it is not a gripe. I love the stuff. There was so much piled on there though - had to be somewheres in the neighborhood of half a cup- that it made me wish that I was one of these ol' broads who'd squirrel some extree away for later in her pocketbook. You know, the kind of dame who calls her bag, "a pocketbook," for one thing, and also one who wraps up dinner rolls in napkins and makes off with all the pats of butter that she can grab, in addition to all the free diner jellies, etc. Of course I could've takeh leftovers in a styrofoam to-go container, like a person, but we were on the road... and in this heat... OK, so I thought about it. Anyway, the humongous NY Cobb Salad was split between the two of us, and I tells you, I'd get it again despite the somewhat lackluster vinaigrette. Did I mention that there was a ton of good bleu cheese up on them greens? Yes? It trumps weak dressing, as did the generous amounts of grilled chicken, bacon, and grape tomatoes, up on that baby spinach. We also split a fairly decent, not too dry turkey club (cause there's nothing like overdoin it on the bacon, right? It was a double bacon Wednesday). One thing, another compliment, KVD, which I just realize are the same initials as my very own as I type now, is that you cook your bacon perfectly. Wednesday at 11 PM did not seem to see much shakin' in the area, as far as I found through my brief investigations into some late night eatin. Bf and I have become fans of this place. Breakfast is huge and very tasty. For quick filling dinner or lunch try the chili bread bowl. That being said I am not a fan of the corned beef hash as it has a odd taste to it. Thinking it could be a beer added , I don't care for beer so not my fave. The chicken fingers are the standard found everywhere. The staff are friendly and the guy serving breakfast to us was above and beyond. The salad with chicken is huge , think two hefty meals. Came here with my friends the other day. I vaguely remembered this place and realized they fixed the place up. The last time I was here, there was literary mold growing on the ceiling. Now it's nice and white! I got the buffalo wrap which contained tomato, lettuce, chopped up fried chicken. Blue cheese and buffalo sauce. It comes with fries, pickles and cole slaw. They offered soup for a special price deal but I declined the offer. The food tasted great. It probably tasted better than the last time I was here. Great improvements. I will give them a solid 3 because overall they are 1 or 2 in selection and consistency in the Kingston Ulster area. However the servers lack motivation ; and on more than one occasion just plain rude.I find it interesting because i always leave a great tip if the service deserves it. The food is just ok usually not seasoned well and bland. Good portions though but who wants a whole lot of bland.The owner's seem so full of themselves so patronizing and that attitude spreads to the servers. They are like wolves trying to run down the best tips.I sadly wouldn't recommend this diner .However , the only other choice really is stadium diner .At least i didn't get food poisoning thats positive. read more

The Hudson Valley is Big on Diners. This place is one of my favorites. Their menu is large, but not so big that you question how long the more obscure items have been sitting around. The quality is good, one of our favorite dishes was the chicken cordon blu. Giant potions, I almost always had a "Diner part 2" left over for later. The breakfast is solid as well. While the place is a diner, it is not cheesy or sticky like some diners can be, it's a tasteful interior and is fairly large. My only real complaint is the service, it is really hit or miss, and capacity isn't always the problem. Seating can be an issue too, they never seem to have a dedicated host and they don't take names when there are a few people waiting so that gets confusing quickly. If you don't have time for the gamble of the server being prompt, get take out, but either way definitely try it! read more

This is a great diner, reliable for friendly staff, a clean environment, and good, inexpensive food. I've dined @ KVD several times and usually order an omelet of some variety, all of which have been delicious. My recent win was the Veggie Omelet plus chicken and feta; outstanding!!
