My opinion of the food is that it reminds me of the so called Chinese Food that we were served, at lunch, in the cafeteria in grade school. I recently ordered and paid for food, in person, at the restaurant. The contents of my order was called out and I received a sealed paper bag that allegedly contained same. Upon my return home, I unpacked the order and found one half of the order that I had paid for was missing. I immediately called the restaurant and advised the woman who answered the telephone that one half of my order was missing. She implied that the deficiency was somehow my fault as I had left the restaurant too rapidly and did not leave a telephone number. I went back the next day to pick up the missing portion of my order and was offered some free rice as compensation. I will not be back. read more

This place has been a mere couple miles away from my house for many years and I never tried it. I'm not sure why but after trying it this past year, I'm upset that I never went sooner! You know when you just have a hankering for Chinese food? Well that was us this weekend. This led us to discover King's Wok which is actually really close by. They have an overwhelming amount of options on their menu. Truly every single dish you could be craving. To make it easiest, each of the four of us picked an item to all share, knowing there would be more than enough food. We ended up with spring rolls, shenaz beef, sesame chicken, and lo mein veggie noodles. There wasn't a dish a didn't like! My favorite though was probably the beef, as it had a real kick to it and it came mixed with a bunch of cooked veggies. Also the lo mein noodles because you really can't go wrong with those. They had plenty of flavor and were great to mix in with the other In terms of service - super speedy. I called in for our order, and it was ready for pick up within 15 minutes. I am a Chinese food aficionado having grown up in New York City. Chinese food comes in four varieties, and Kings Wok excels in two of them: Cantonese and Sichuan. There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants in Milwaukee and I only have ranked Fortune on Highway 100 the only remaining five star Chinese restaurant. That was until I discovered Kings Wok We live very nearby this restaurant, but have always gone to a place in Mequon. I should point out that for the last five years we have only been doing takeout for Chinese food. Kings Wok was a revelation. We went there because of the weather. We wanted to stay close by home. I can't believe we haven't been here since it opened. I haven't heard much about it from anybody. It might be the best Chinese restaurant in the north shore. There is plenty of parking for your pick up, and they are always on time with their orders. There are many features that this restaurant has in terms of food and ordering that make it extremely desirable. Fortune has absolutely the best website of any restaurant you will find. This restaurant has no website for ordering, but if they do, I recommend they find out who designed Forrtune's website and use them. While ordering by phone is not difficult, they are often busy and the order gets rushed. There is a lot of noise in the background as well. The menu is extensive, and I recommend that you pick up a print menu when picking up your first order as it is much easier to envision than the one on the Internet. Both are quite complete. One of the beauties of the Kings Wok menu choices is that many of the entrées are offered as pints or quarts. So basically, you can order the equivalent of an half order compared with ordering only full orders from other restaurants. The portions are quite generous in general, so start with the half orders, and in subsequent orders, if you need more generous servings, then go to the quarts. Further, the menu is laid out beautifully, the categories are clear, and the ingredients of each dish are made very clear. The intensity of the dish in terms of heat is also rated. There is a special lunch menu at a very reasonable price. And there are combination plates for the dinner entrée, very reasonably priced and very generous portions. Now to the food. I find myself ordering the exact same thing every time and I've tried recently to try other dishes that I like. Highly recommend the wonton soup, egg drop soup, and appetizer pork. I haven't had the eggroll, but they look very good. Fried rice is always a benchmark test for me at any Chinese restaurant I go to. This is excellent fried rice. I usually get the pork fried rice which is excellent, but my wife likes shrimp fried rice. We tried it and the shrimp are of the larger size than normally found in fried rice, and are excellent. All of the entrées we've tried, and our guests have tried, have been outstanding. I've tried the twice cooked pork, the pork with vegetables, moo shu pork, beef with snow peas, shrimp with mushrooms, and they were all outstanding. For true disclosure, the only negative that I can find is that the pork runs a bit fatty. I think they are using loin or shoulder as opposed to tenderloin. Other than that, no complaints. All containers are labeled and they use no staples in their packaging which is a pet peeve of mine. Kings Wok is a small restaurant in a strip center of many stores. We were going to do the burger place next to this place but when we saw the open sign lit up we looked at the menu and changed our plans and I'm so glad. We decided to go with a couple of lunch specials and two egg rolls. For some reason the lunch specials only come with the main course and chicken fried rice or white rice and that's it. I opted for the general taos chicken with one shrimp and one pork egg rolls. I must say for a lunch special it was very generous because it took me two attempts to finish it off, no skimping here. The egg rolls were tasty and better than the average egg rolls but a little greasy we liked the shrimp better than the pork. The general taos chicken had big chunks of all white meat chicken in a thick sauce that covered all the chicken and for a rarity it was somewhat hot. The chicken fried rice was probably some of the best lunch special fried rice that I have had. The chicken fried rice had plenty of all white meat chicken with some big chunks of chicken. The fried rice had scrambled eggs, onion, green onions and sprouts like a main course fried rice, some places have nothing in the lunch special fried rice so this was a nice surprise. I would definitely go back for more of the menu and I would probably just do the lunch special to get the chicken fried rice because I like fried rice. read more

Our favorite Chinese place is a bit further out, so I am always looking for a solid alternative that's much closer to home. I believe we found that in King's Wok. While they are lacking in technological advances like a website, they do excel at having good food at a great price. The "go to" dish for us is Sesame Chicken and the version that King's Wok offers is very similar to that of the ones you see at CK Lee further south on Port Washington or Hong-Anh Palace up in Mequon. The best Chinese food to the north of Milwaukee. My go to's are: Salt and Pepper Squid: Can be mild or spicy depending on the peppers being in or out of season, but either way is tasty! Squid breaded and deep fried served mostly "dry style". Beef Noodles: Big fat rice noodles with beef and sprouts / green onions. Has a little bit of brown sauce but also mostly "dry". Walnut Shrimp: Shrimp breaded, fried, and tossed in a mayo based sauce (sound gross but bear with me!). A little bit sweet and creamy. I always get the walnuts on the side because of an allergy, but I am sure they complement the shrimp. read more

We were staying at a local Milwaukee hotel awaiting our flight to Seattle the next day and decided to try this place for dinner based on other Yelp users advice. We opted for the salt and pepper shrimp, smelt, calamari and a Mongolian chicken dish to be split between two of us. The food was prepared exactly the way we asked and was nice and hot and tasty. The service was excellent and friendly and the facility was clean and decent as well. The portion sizes were generous for the price and it looks like they have a generous take out option as well. I would highly recommend this place to anybody in the Glendale or northern Milwaukee area who are craving decent Chinese food at a reasonable cost.
