He told me I actually had plenty of brake life left on all four brakes. No upsell. No pressure. Just honesty. That kind of integrity is rare in auto repair. Jorge could have easily sold me work I did not need. Instead he did the right thing. He is a highly ethical person. This Pep Boys location has earned my trust and my loyalty. I will absolutely be a customer for life. Highly recommend asking for Jorge if you want honest service.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I am extremely upset with my experience at Pep Boys Encinitas,…read moreand I hope someone takes this seriously. On Friday, June 5, my dad brought my 2013 Scion FR-S into Pep Boys Encinitas for an alignment while I was out of town. According to him, the appointment seemed to go fine, and an employee even commented that he couldn't believe I was selling the car. The shop also mentioned that the car had other repairs that would cost around $1,500. However, after the alignment, my car began having a serious issue it had never had before. When turning, the steering wheel would get stuck at an angle and then suddenly snap back into place. The car also started losing traction when going around bends, even while driving under the speed limit. This was extremely scary and unsafe, and this problem did not exist before the alignment. On Tuesday, June 16, I brought the car back to Pep Boys for an inspection and explained that the issue started after the alignment. The employee helping me dismissed my concern and said it had nothing to do with the alignment, even though I was explaining that this was a brand-new issue. I dropped the car off at 9 a.m. and asked several times when it would be done, but I was repeatedly given vague answers and no real estimate. To make the situation worse, even though I gave them my phone number and I was the person driving and dealing with the car, they called my dad when the car was finished. My dad lives in Mammoth and was not the person available to pick up the car or handle the issue. I found that extremely unprofessional and dismissive, especially after I had been the one communicating with them. They then told my dad the problem involved a rod or bearing and that the repair would cost around $1,500. When I came in to pick up the car, they again insisted it had nothing to do with the alignment, despite the fact that the car did not have this steering or traction problem before the alignment. I understand that cars can have existing issues, but I do not feel my concerns were taken seriously at all. A serious safety problem appeared after the alignment, and instead of properly addressing it, the shop dismissed me, gave unclear communication, and called my father instead of me. What I find unbelievable is that after I described a steering and traction issue, they still let me leave with a car that did not feel safe to drive. I left feeling ignored, dismissed, and extremely uncomfortable with how the situation was handled.

I had no time to peruse the aisles as who has the time other than getting exactly what you need, right? I went straight up to the counter to ask for a headlight bulb for my car. The guy picked out the right one for me right way and he even offered to show me real quick how to access it. So it was very nice of him to come out with me to my car. We popped the hood and we pulled out the housing from the socket. He tried, he really tried, but I'm not sure if he's not fully awake, daydreaming or stoned or for whatever reason, he wasn't helpful at all. I think at one point I had to stop him from doing something and tell him to do otherwise just in case the light bulb breaks with poor installation! Luckily everything turned out OK, but I think I would've done it quicker on my own because it really wasn't that hard. But at the end, it's the thought that counts. He really tried and I'm thankful that he was nice to do that. Will I come back next time? Hm... I don't know. Maybe, because it's in my neighborhood, but if anything fails then I'll probably head back to O'Reilly's...
