The atmosphere is fantastic and so is the wait staff. It's a real nice place with a central location to all the town has to offer. However, the food, not so fantastic and served in small portions. The burger my wife ordered came on a less than fresh roll (toasting a roll doesn't hide the fact it's 2 days old) and the fries were covered in salt and soggy. I, by mistake, ordered an appetizer instead of an entrée and basically about 6 bites of food. Even an appetizer should be more than 6 bites. The quality of it was good, but the size of the portion was ridiculous. I thought twice about writing this but I figured the owner should read this and maybe correct some of these issues before it drives too many people away from the place. Prices are reasonable, and they make a concerted effort to find and use local ingredients. I came here for Sunday brunch with my boyfriend and we loved it. On Sundays apparently they only serve the brunch menu which was fine with us, it was pretty large. I had a great bourbon-ginger cocktail and my boyfriend had their Bloody Mary which was full of lots of veggies and nice and spicy. We had the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer which was one of the best I've ever had. Creamy but with way more vegetables than most and with bread crumbs on top. I had the huevos rancheros and the sauce on it was absolutely delicious. Came with rice and beans, guac, crunchy corn tortillas and queso fresco. It was great. My boyfriend got a spicy Asian shrimp sandwich which he loved as well. The bread it came on was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill to see it wasn't as expensive as we thought it would be, seeing as it is in the heart of Kent. There is outdoor seating on the front deck, as well, overlooking all the cute shops. Will definitely go back! read more

I had wanted to get Jen to Kent for a while; it is in a beautiful area of Connecticut at almost any time of year. Of course, walking around, checking out the galleries and shops, food and drink became a subject so we decided to look around. Now, as a matter of fact, there are only a handful of places to choose from and Kingsley is almost right in the middle of town. We stopped and looked at the menu, it was brunch and we were hungry so we went in. Jen was good with The Kingsley Burger but I wanted to try something from the chefs specials and had the Shrimp & Grits. The burger was in the true style of a great burger: the bread was fresh, burger cooked right and the toppings were of the best quality. She gave it an enthusiastic thumbs up and with a good order of fries and beer, "what more could you ask for?" For me (and I lived south of the Mason Dixon Line for a few years), the Shrimp & Grits was a "spot-on" stand out (yeah, I had a pint of beer to go with that too). Honestly, I was so impressed with how good the meal was up to that point, I splurged (the calories I mean) for the special cobbler of "Fig, Apple & Cranberry with Streusel. Jen and I were glad we tried the Kingsley Tavern. It will be a stop for us when we go back to Kent. We both agreed it was like having a "neighborhood place" away from home. I ate here on a recent Sunday afternoon and liked it very much. We ate outside on a lovely day. The service was quite good; both the hostess and our waitress were warm yet professional. I had grilled shrimp on a baguette with pickled cabbage and spicy mayo; one friend had the cauliflower and cranberry salad, and the other a meatloaf sandwich special. We all agreed the food was very tasty indeed. It was just a bit pricey. My sandwich was $14, but this is Kent. I do think the wine was too high, however. $10 for glass of Chardonnay is pushing it, so four, not five, stars. Overall, it's a place that will not disappoint you. read more

Kent is a lovely little town. Loved finding a restaurant with an upscale menu but casual setting that skews a bit younger. Great cocktail menu, I am partial to the bourbon drinks. The Kingsley burger is fantastic with fried egg, cheddar and bacon jam. Salads were good, my MIL enjoyed the clam chowder. The service is hit or miss though, which is where it loses one star. I came here for brunch and dinner over two weeks. Dinner, the waitress ignored my table many times, never checked on dishes and plates were delivered between guests with long stretches in between. She acted annoyed to even serve us. Brunch was better with the server taking the time to actually explain specials and give recommendations. read more

it is 7:00 pm on may 18th 2019. i can't believe the absolute inattentive service i received from this dive bar. i was prepared to spend a hundred or 2 on wine and dinner with my wife. i was met with unpleasant staff who made sure i was made to feel unappreciated and uncomfortable. the rudeness was so unbearable that after 15 minutes of trying to get proper service... i gave up and left the table. i proceed to call the manager from my car to express my disappointment and displeasure and was met with what sounded like a high school kid who is oblivious to customer service. it was an excersise in frustration talking with this uneducated child. I WILL NEVER EVER SPEND A DIME IN THIS DUMP. I WENT to the fife and drum down the block and had a wonderful experience. Congratulations Kingsley tavern for setting the lowest Bar possible for customer service. read more

Kingsley is good for burgers and they have some very good appetizers. I had the Asian sandwich which was mostly kimchee and 3 small pieces of pork belly. I would suggest they offer some decent house wines- my glass cost as much as the sandwich!! I hope they do well- it is a good addition to Kent.Open for lunch all week would be great too. I thought our Saturday lunch was excellent. I had a special, a meatloaf sandwich on a delicious roll with bacon. My companion had a waffle with zucchini, so yummy. Innovative, but not pretentious. The service was friendly and quick. Would go back happily, if I'm in the area again. read more

From the classic New England clam chowder to the novel fried chicken and waffles with maple syrup to the must have lamb burger. Fantastic gem in quaint CT. excellent quality Manhattan-esque flare with some local standards such as tasty clam chowder. Santa fe salad was huge and delicious. I found this place on yelp after a day of skiing with our two grade school sons at Mohawk. I was apprehensive because the word Tavern made me think is would be more of a bar, but it actually has a very sweet, cafe feel to it. Our waitress was Ashley and she was great. Very knowledgable about the beer and cocktails and made accurate recommendations. I had the tea infused cocktail. Awesome. The food was equally tasty. My son had the grass fed burger and was very happy with it. My husband's meatloaf was huge and delicious. My salad was extremely fresh and simple. The flounder was okay but the sticky rice balls that came with it made the plate. Overall, we loved it and will definitely go back with or without the kids. read more

Great addition to Kent's dining experience right on Main St! The Kingsley Burger is amazing, and make sure you get it with one of Truelove Farms (Morris, CT) eggs on top! Beer can chicken is moist and flavorful, the Asian noodle salad is wonderful and the meatloaf made with local beef is tops in the comfort food dept!! It's our 'go to' spot on weeknights where we love to sit at the bar, meet new and old friends and have one of their many delectable tap beers with our dinner! We like this restaurant a lot -- we've had great steak, mussels, fish tacos, and other things. The wine list is pretty reasonable. The service and atmosphere are terrific. There is a nice bar with a little bar scene -- unusual for the area in our experience, anyway. Only one gripe -- it closes at 9:30 on weekends and that can make it inconvenient if you're driving up from NYC, as we often are. In any case, this place is much, much better than the places on this site before. Try it! read more

He was pleased with the whiskey / bourbon selection, and they had a good lists of draught beers for me. I was lucky enough to hear about this amazing restaurant when I was visiting Kent. My experience at Kingsleys Tavern was exceptional from start to finish. The place was popping and I was a bit worried that we weren't going to get a table but the hostess was so sweet and we got a table on the front porch which was delightful. The decor/ambiance was lovely. The restaurant was family oriented and the staff was fabulous. I could not decide on one meal or appetizer so my friends and I ordered a lot. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I am a San Francisco native and I feel that I have been to some incredible places to eat and Kingsleys Tavern is right up there with the best. The burrata special was so yummy. The tomatoes were the best I have tasted. I also loved the mushroom risotto, the tuna entree they had on special and the Kingsley burger was unique and so flavorful. Another reason I gave a five star rating is the owner Anna Gowan took the time to come over and introduce herself. She recommended a few dishes and it was clear that her love and passion for the food and for her restaurant is why Kingsleys is so successful. read more

This is our third time here. The brunch menu has the most varied choices. I've enjoyed the shrimp and grits, saigon sandwich, grass fed bergers. My guests have enjoyed the huevos rancheros, red flannel hash and muscles. Service is reliable, portions properly sized and prices appropriate for the quality of the food, presentation and atmosphere. For brunch this is the most satisfying restaurant in the Kent, Sharon, Amenia area. We are meaning to come back for dinner and I'll update my review then. Don't be disuaded by the negativity of some of the reviews. We need to support restaurants like this. read more
