So she/we chose to go to Slieve as I have not been there yet. Actually, all 3 choices were breweries. The good news is that there are more and more new breweries opening. The bad news is that there are more and more good breweries closing, in ALL my hometowns... My first time in a nano brewery; cool. Today I got (and tried the following), all Slieve brands; support local: Oh, I did not know you had a happy hour M-F from 2-5pm; I just missed it by 13 minutes... Should not have spent so much time outside taking pictures for Yelp, lol. Pale Ale - Good, but I prefer more flavor. This is currently my second "go to" beer after reds. Jimbo Porter - Better, but then I tried the Cookie Monster! I also did not taste the coconut. Cookie Monster - My favorite of the beers, so much flavor. And I am NOT usually a sweet beer drinker. It was not an overwhelming stout, probably due to the sweetness, but you can definitely taste the chocolate and slightly coffee and caramel flavors. I would get this again, but it would always have to be my last beer due to the flavors. Beers that I need to come back for when available are: Your reds, IPAs and of course your "Trinity Tripel." It was our first time coming to the brewery…read more I called at the last minute to see if we could still get tickets and they said we will squeeze you in, now that's good business! We got there a little early to pick our spot at the bar. We were greeted by Shannon the owner. She is a lovely lady and later met her husband Phil. They have owned Slieve's for about three years. They have a spacious building and super clean! The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is no food on the premises to purchase, but you can bring your own food or ordered inn. It was fun to sample Girl Scout cookies and taste beer. We started with 6 tastings but they threw in a couple extra. The event was well organized and the Girl Scouts were there to sell their cookies. I was a Girl Scout 50 years ago. I think a box of cookies was $1.00 - $1.25. I paid $7. Times have certainty changed. The brewery is in an interesting location that I never knew existed before, but now I do and look forward to my return. Thank you for making our day fun and memorable!!!

The patio was full of people enjoying themselves, music was playing, and everyone looked like they were having a great time on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We quickly found a parking spot and decided to check it out. We ordered at the counter, and the bartender was incredibly friendly. He offered me a couple of tastings, which helped me find the perfect craft beer for the afternoon. With drinks in hand, we grabbed a table outside and spent some time soaking up the sunshine, listening to the music, and enjoying the lively atmosphere. Sometimes the best discoveries are the unplanned ones! I'm so glad we stumbled upon Pigeon Head Brewery. The welcoming staff, great beer, and fun vibe made for a wonderful experience. We've been seeing Battle Born Beer available in stores and at various bars around town for a couple years, but now they have taken the next step and gotten their own digs, becoming the newest beer spot in this already beer-sy party of town. The facility is located technically off of Fifth Street, being in a converted warehouse literally right behind The Depot. The joint looks fantastic, perhaps even with traces of that 'new brewery smell' you look for when you go to the building dealership. There is space inside for some seating areas, and some closed off patio areas outside with room for tables and a couple outdoor games. As for hours, the owners are saying they are hoping to be open on Friday and Saturday nights in the near future, with plans to maybe expand hours or even the taproom itself to accommodate more customers. Parking can be a bit tight, given the abundance of favorite dinner and drinking spots around here, but should be very manageable when no events are going on. Today, though, was not the day to see the day-to-day operations, as the owners and staff wanted to kick things off right for their grand opening by throwing a real kicker of a block party! Great music, delicious fare served out from food trucks, cool swag for sale, and taps-a-plenty of their beer. So far they only have the one beer, their flagship pilsner. But this is a pretty darn good one, as it is tasty, smooth, and very easy drinking. Indeed, it is one of those perfect beers for events like this. Plus, with their close partnership to The Depot, look for some of their beers on tap as well. Prices were really good, with about two to three pints being $10, six-packs on sale for $7.50, and twelve-packs for $14. We attended a Yelp Punk Rock Flea Market event a couple of weeks ago. They had a ton of vendors…read moreselling all sorts of cool items and I really good band playing some good ole rock and roll. We had my bestie visiting from Sacto so this was a perfect event to take him to. The one thing that was difficult is we had a very long walk from the parking to the actual event so I wished I had brought my parasol :) it was a very hot day similar to what we've had all summer. This year was so strange weather wise, I feel like we didn't have a spring at all, it was like Winter then Summer. I love the rain so it was amazing for that and to help our water resources. It was very crowded so this proved that this was a great success. They had a cute area for the children with picnic tables with coloring books. This was very wise of the organizers to think of this. I literally squeezed myself into a bench and hung out there until the boys were finished with the beer and band. I just wanted to get home to the pool. My buddy Tomas and Joe were exciting try the different beers and they definitely did, guess who drove home? ;) Fun event! The only thing that could use some improvement for next year was the ticket people had no idea about how to accept my 2 free tickets... It was only $7 per person so that's so reasonable it wasn't worth arguing. Yelp has brought me so much happiness over the years starting in the Bay Area and then coming to Reno. One can only dream of where I'll be next...

My wife doesn't do beer at all, even a little bit, so she ordered up the Smooshed Fruitz an apricot seltzer. I ordered up the Black Gold because I thought it would go with the the Corned Beef Tater Tots we ordered up to share. I also liked the idea of getting a side of cabbage and carrots so I did! The tasting space is pretty tight be comfortable. A hand full of bar height tables and a decent sized bar space are great places to choose to sit while having a pint or two. I am not sure who did the food, I just assumed it was done in house but the food truck outside had a different logo on it, then that logo was covered up with the Great Basin logo. Maybe the trailer is a new acquisition for Local Food Group and just hasn't been repainted. Either way the corned beef tots were perfect. Not too salty or rich, just tasty tasty goodness that totally satisfied. My side of cabbage and carrots was a perfect addition to the meal. It was really nice to be able to get a smaller set of meals that were able to feed. The food was so good in fact that we decided to go back the next night to try some sliders and the more classic corned beef and cabbage dish. But that didn't work out because we were stopped at the door and told to pay a cover for a music event that night. Total bummer because we probably would have spent $50 or $60 bucks on food and drinks easily. It was sort of an awkward moment. Next time I will double check to not go on a night where they require tickets to just enter.
