I have been here multiple times. I always get the jerk chicken or pork. Both are full of flavor and perfectly spiced. Slow cooked throughout the day and the meal comes with rice/beans and cabbage. Get it with a topping of the oxtail gravy for the full experience. Love this place! read more

The food was soooo good!!! My bf & I came here thinking we were just gonna grab sone food to go, but when we got inside, we decided to stay & check it out. We ordered a jerk chicken plate to share, some fried dough balls, 2 patties, and colas, and it came out to $20. There was a cute little area off to the side to sit & eat. There was a tv in the sitting room, and I also liked how there was plenty of space between the tables, because I hate the feeling of sitting two close to other tables. I was at the Kingston cafe in Strafford yesterday always go there to get my curry goat curry goat was always good but this day I went order my curry goat got my food with two others friends and the curry goat was no curry goat so I went back to the girl that serve me and ask her I order curry goat this is not curry goat I said there is no curry in the meat I said I am a island person I know how curry goat look this look like stew goat and she telling me oh the curry is lite and I said there is no curry in the meat the food was bad that day never had curry goat like that . And then on the top of everything she was trying to hide from Me don't want to pay me any attention so finally I said I want to talk to the cook she did not go get the cook she came to talk to me her self . I did not like that at all asking me if I want back my money I said no it not about the money it's the principal be hind the way you went about things with me when I tell you this is not curry goat because the meat does not have in any curry in it all she had to say there was no curry goat that day . Today my co-workers and I decided to go pick up some take out from this place and let me tell you, IT WAS DELICOUS!!! I ordered a small curry goat and instead of rice can give you boiled banana, pumpkin, and a boiled dumpling. The food was delicous!! I also got a mild beef patty and I tried their fresh carrot juice (with stout). These were so good as well!! I will definitely be back. I have driven by this small place many times, I am so glad my co-workers told me about it today- I'd love to eat here every week. The best Red Peas Soup we have ever had in this country - REALLY!!!! The food is amazing and authentic. We have sampled virtually everything from their cornmeal porridge, ackee and saltfish with festival, to oxtail, and curried goat. Recently attended the Jerk Fest in Bridgeport and Kingston Kafe was there, so I said let me visit on a weeknight and see for myself. So I ordered a large oxtail, with rice/peas, cabbage and plantains. Washed it down with an ice cold Jamaican champagne kola. Can you say "fall-off-the-bone" oxtails? The meat was so juicy, tender and Flavorful too! The gravy from the oxtails was amazing. The cabbage was fresh and the plantains were sweet, moist and caramelized! Upon arrival we walked through the small Resturant without being greeted. I introduced myself to a gentleman washing knives and forks with his hands(unsanitary). He seemed polite. He apologized and proceeded to seat us. He took our drink orders.. 2 glass of tap water, a bottled water and when asked for a D&G ( on the menu... Typical Jamaica cola) he asked .. WHATS THAT? To make a Long story short an hour and 25 mins later 3 of us relieved our meal and one was still waiting. He eventually told her they serviced the takeout orders first before the dine in. She replied I'll take something else. After finishing we waited another 15 min before getting up to pay because a check was never brought to us. Had been anticipating going to K.K. for a while. Stopped by today and couldnt be more disappointed. First time there and had a hard time finding the menu, which had little info on it. I got the jerked chicken plate with a spicy beef patty and a ginger soda. The soda was good. The beef patty was indeed spicy but was more bean than beef (store bought?). The jerked chicken was ok, nice and moist with some spice but just ok. The rice and beans were all dried out with little flavor. The server asked if I wanted gravy, I said yes, she asked what kind without saying what kinds were available. I looked around but couldnt find any info on the menu. Had to ask her twice because she spoke too quiet to hear. She went in the back with my plate again but when I got home no gravy. I have had the same dish in Jamaica several times and loved it. This wasnt it. I know its pretty popular so I will try it again even though I was not impressed at all. Maybe its popular because its the only Jamacian type food around.
