Sooo.... I was never a big ramen person before. I tried a couple places like Hanabi or Kurobuta in Carrollton but their ramens didn't impress me. One recent chilly day, I decided to give ramen another chance and found Kintaro on Yelp. Although Kintaro doesn't have as many reviews as other places near by, their foods look so good I decided to give them a try. I'm so glad I did y'all!! Hands down BEST RAMEN IVE EVER HAD!! This is a quaint ramen place. There is street parking and garage parking, though I'm not sure about the pricing for garage parking bc I found a 20 minute street spot. The kiosks for self-ordering were down, but the woman who helped place my order was SO helpful and polite. They only have three spice levels: Mild, habanero, and California reaper. I wanted medium, but she told me the habanero is pretty spicy, so she suggested putting it on the side so I could add the spice to my preference, which I really appreciated. The habanero was definitely hot, and I only ended up using about 1/4 of the little ramekin. I can on imagine what California reaper is like! The food was excellent, even though I got it to-go. We changed our plans last minute and decided to come check it out after hearing that this was opened by Jesus Garcia who used to be a sushi chef at Little Lilly Sushi in Fort Worth, a place I had enjoyed when living in DFW more than 7 years ago. Checked into the waitlist just in case. When we came in, I was a little confused, but someone came to help after a moment. There's a one time used paper menu near the hand sanitizer by the door. After placing your order using a kiosk, you make your payment (no cash guys). You grab your receipt and after that you find your own seats. There's a bar area with plexiglass and tables are six feet apart. Someone came over with utensils, napkins, a carafe of water, and glasses of ice not too long after the order was place and we were seated. Very contactless as possible. I ordered a tonkotsu ramen with aromatic lard and added buttered corn to mine. Broth was on the saltier side, bowl was warm to touch, but after you break into it, it was steaming hot, but not hot enough to burn. Ramen portions are generous and has a good bite and was chewy. Chashu pork belly was soft and had a light smokey hint at the end of each bite, but also a bit on the saltier side as well. The buttered corn was sweet enough while the bamboo shoots and mushrooms were tender although a bit tasteless. It felt like the shoots and mushroom were just for texture. The egg is slightly sweet. I think this meal has me well over my sodium intake for the rest of the day and the next. My older sister got a kimchi ramen. The broth is on the saltier side as well. The fried oysters were tasty according to her, but she said she wouldn't come back either. This is a decent place to go, but I would say it was in the middle for me and nothing mind blowing. I'm very new to the DFW area, so when I saw a ramen shop 15 minutes from me, I knew I had to try it! When you walk in you fill your order on the kiosk and pay. The tables were spaced out with added shields due to Covid, which I greatly appreciated. Overall, the look of the entire restaurant was sleek and added to the whole experience. They had one employee working in the front kitchen, but we still received our food super quick-honestly props to him. As for the food, I ordered the Tonkotsu with Muya while my friend ordered the Carnitas Ramen. I have to say I was completely satisfied. The broth was extremely flavorful while still being light. A friend & I popped into the eatery on a Saturday night and we were the only two diners. I'm a little alarmed at this point because of the awesome reviews this place had, yet the restaurant was emptier than my bank account after a Victoria secret's bi-annual sale. Ordering from the ipad was a little confusing---the ramen toppings had the Japanese name so I had to use the paper menu they had on the table in order to translate. They had some issues with the sake machine but quickly resolved it by offering a "more expensive option for no additional cost." I later found out that my original sake order WAS THE MORE EXPENSIVE option and in fact, they offered me a cheaper option resulting in a $2 gain for them. Yeah, I'm bitter about that. Chasudon 4/5 - The best tasting thing we ordered. Rice cooked perfectly while it nestled under a bed of chopped, caramelized chasu pork. Pork Gyoza 3/5 - The flavor was good (not great) and the sauce paired very well with the dish. The pink meat in the wrapper didn't look as appetizing--the only reason I wouldn't give this dish a higher rating. Chicken Karaage 2/5 - Not much flavor and a little dry. It came with a sauce that just tasted like plain mayo to me. Wouldn't order again. Tonkotsu Ramen 2/5 - Nice big portion and I enjoyed the earthiness of the mushrooms and broth. But ZERO flavor here. Added chili oil to see if it would help and it didn't. The pork had a funny after taste to it as well. Although the staff made a costly mistake, they still made the experience enjoyable for us. They were very kind, friendly and made themselves readily available for questions. I'm a RAMEN SNOB so when it comes to rating these places, I can be a little harsh. We were craving ramen and stumbled across this place. It didn't have that many reviews (most likely a new place) but it was already a 5 star! We ordered at the ipad and sat down and waited for our food. The server brings out a container of water and cups The food took a little long for the amount of people that was in there but the wait was worth it! About 7 mins from my house I stopped by right after running errands. Parking for me was really easy right out front. They are practicing COVID safely regulations. Minimal seating for dine in sanitizing station, contactless payment. And you order for your self. I ordered Karashimiso and it was DELICIOUS savory! Right amount of spice and flavor I would not take anything away. I wish there was an option to add more meat or different types of meats. The staff really to them self they don't talk at all. I dined in this time. Tables are widely spaced apart for COVID and staff are wearing masks. Hand sanitizers and menus are by the entrance. You self order by the kiosks. The ramen was amazing!!! We all ordered the karashimiso. Broth was delicious with soft chewy noodles which I loved. The sweet tea comes in a 40 oz glass bottle for $2.00 which is shareable as they gave us chilled glass cups. It was so good!!! Very thirst quenching. We didnt know and each ordered one. I Felt quilty as we basically each only drank half from our respective bottle. Well! I was disappointed to be notified the curry goat ramen I ordered wasn't available. I went ahead and ordered something else the kirashimiso which did not disappoint! I also ordered the pork gyoza for an appetizer because ramen never seems like enough. Lol. Overall I was very pleased. I picked up my order and it was there waiting on me, no delay. Horrible customer service this evening. Placed an order via Yelp at 6:00, and received notice that order would be ready between 6:39-6:59. I arrive at around 6:35 and let them know I'm there. To that, the main cook said he didn't have a ticket for me. So I showed him the email, app saying they accepted the order and the pickup time, and the pending charge on my card. Instead of trying to help figure out what happened they tell me to cancel the Grubhub and then order there. I ordered ahead to avoid the wait, so that would defeat the purpose. Then one of the lady's working there took a very rude tone and said they couldn't help me. Do you not have an agreement with Grubhub? Can you not call to check and see what happened? Guess not! Showed a complete lack of care for a paying customer and didn't care enough to make it easier on me. In the end, I had to call to cancel the order. To say the least, I will never return to this establishment. The ramen is decent, nothing to rave about. I mainly go because it's really the only ramen option near me. We found this gem spot for delicious ramen in Arlington, TX!!! We are from Cali, so finding a good Ramen place is usually very tough! Surprisingly, this place is so good! We got the spicy tonkatsu, reg tonkatsu, and the eel rice bowl! The spicy tonkatsu has a good consistency of spice, not overbearing, and still able to taste the good quality of bone soup! The reg tonkatsu was exceptionally good, because you can taste the authentic and homemade base bone soup! The best part is their noodles! Its skinny type of noodles and I believe its house made (and if it isn't, it taste just like it!) The meat, egg, mushrooms, and everything else in the soup was all amazing! The eel rice bowl was also very flavorful and good! It wasn't too salty nor too sweet. It was the perfect combination of flavor in the rice bowl. Everything was just so tasty and delicious! We have eaten A LOT of ramen. My family of 5 has eaten ramen in more than one state and many locations. It's amazing my 15 year old hasn't turned into a noodle. Kintaro happens to be everyone's *FAVORITE* like ever ever EVERRRRR. We get the tonkotsu with added black garlic lard and extra leafy greens. It's not cheap but it's worth every single penny. The place is tiny but for some strange reason we never have to wait, even on a Friday evening. A yet-to-explode gem maybe? Someday they're gonna need a bigger place. Great little ramen spot in Arlington. Service was fast and friendly. As soon as we walked in a server explained that you order and pay on a kiosk, find a seat, and they bring your food to you. It was nice that you could personalize your ramen on the kiosk. It was a little small on the inside and they were busy but we were luckily able to find a seat. You can see the chefs cooking right in front of you. For appetizers we got chicken karage and takoyaki. They came out piping hot and fresh. They were yummy but a little greasy. As for ramen we got the Karashi Tonkotsu and Karashimiso with extra spice on the side. Our favorite was definitely the Karashi Tonkotsu. The pork belly was soft with great flavor. The broth for the tonkotsu was silky and rich and we actually added more spice to give it some kick. The Karashi miso was too salty for my taste so I added some extra water to the broth and it tasted fine after that but I still preferred the tonkotsu broth. it's an 'order and seat yourself' kinda place which makes it convenient. the food comes out correct pretty consistently and it doesn't take long for the food to be ready either. the quality of food and service is a solid 9/10 overall in my experience. the takoyaki was hot and fresh with lots of flavor. i love spicy food so when i get habanero as my 'spice level', it had the kick of spiciness that wasn't overwhelming the taste of the ramen. read more

Ok, I had high hopes trying this place because of the limited bisque tonkotsu ramen that's suppose to be available during the month of January. We drove 40 minutes (there are other ramen places much closer to us) just for the limited ramen. Well, we get there and it's not available. Then we made the mistake of staying anyway (because we were hungry). So, you use the tablet and order the food yourself. We ordered and had to wait about 10 minutes to get seats. Not a big deal. The problem started when the person who ordered first got her ramen last. Like, much later than rest of us. Seemed like her ramen may have been sitting around and forgot to be served. By the time she got it, the broth was barely lukewarm. We pointed out the problem to the waitress and asked if they could make it hotter (we didn't even ask it to be remade). The waitress said she would bring more hot broth. OK great. Another 5 minutes or so pass and no extra hot broth and the ramen is getting colder. We had to ask another waiter about the broth and then it was finally brought to us. By this time adding the hot broth didn't help much as the broth already in the ramen cooled so much. To make matters worse, the ramen I ordered said it had kimchi in it. It wasn't until the order was brought to me that I found out they don't add the kimchi anymore. What? Why didn't they update their menu to reflect this change? They said they stopped adding the kimchi while back, so I don't understand why their menu still says it has kimchi. It's misleading. This ramen place is a nice addition to Arlington. The guest were welcoming and you order at the front. They also have outdoor seating as well. I ordered the tonkontsu and make sure you get it with the lard. The Bao had a nice Smokey flavor to it and good choice with the pickle with it. The ramen was flavorful and had good blend of all the toppings. The noodles tasted very fresh and good bite to it. Overall, good place for ramen and would recommend.
