Went in for oil change and gave my coupon to the guy checking in. He took it but crumbled it up and threw it to the side. Went to settle my bill and coupon was not applied Luckily I had a photo of it. Was told the guy who checked me in was busy and stressed. I was the ONLY one at the desk! Then Jacob said well the automotive business is miserable and that he was miserable and so is everyone who works there. I was dumbfounded and said I can't believe you would say that. Was gonna charge me $400 more than the dealer to replace my 2 batteries on my Jeep Wrangler. When I said no way and picked up the Jeep they still charged me $155 for testing my batteries which we already knew were bad! They said the fee was to diagnose the problem but it was obviously a battery issue and a simple 5 min battery test would confirm it. The Jeep dealer said they would never charge a customer to test their batteries. The reason people take their vehicles to local shops is to save money over dealer prices but this wasn't even close and they got their pound of flesh anyway! I am a first time customer and had Kirby do an oil change on my 2022 civic. This is the first time I had taken the car to any repair shop that wasn't the dealership. The technician incorrectly installed my splashguard which led to the splashguard dragging. I had to travel for work and was in Phoenix for a while so I could not bring this back to Kirby to get corrected. Eventually I hit a rock and that hit the dragging splashguard, destroying it. I had to remove this to operate the car and noticed that the technician also badly stripped screws when reinstalling the splashguard. Fast forward to today, I contact Kirby and they told me the following: "I've looked back at our records of the service performed. I do not have any notes or indication that there were any issues during the oil change. I trust my technician and he would have indicated a concern with the splashguard. Due to the amount of time since the service and there being no evidence and issue during the visit, there will not be any action made from us pertaining to your splashguard." Take your business somewhere else where the customers experience matters more than the technician notes. read more

Not only are they great mechanics, but their ladies' room is better than a lot of high dollar chain establishments in and around the Arizona Quad City area! They have their prices on an overhead cc TV. Sean, Jacob, and Carrissa handle the front end. All three are patient, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. I've had some oddball things go wrong with my vehicle. Like the catalytic converter went south. The mechanics are all certified and good at their jobs. I've had good experiences in the past with Kirby Automotive but was extremely disappointed with today's experience. I made an appointment on line for oil change and one additional repair. I even received a confirmation text over the weekend. When I arrived at the scheduled time today the rep told me they would have to reschedule for a future date. When I questioned him as to why he said they had "no control over the online system" and they only have it because that's what the "big boss" wants. That is unacceptable! If you're going to offer an online system then at the very least you should have someone looking at it and proactively contacting customers if you're unable to accommodate them. read more

Went to Kirby's for a oil change and tire rotation i have been there before for the same service. I had a feeling the mechanic didn't rotate my tires but couldn't prove it and I paid the bill this time I went in a oil change and tire rotation but I marked the front l left tire. When Kirbys said my truck was was done I went and looked at the marked tire and guess what? it was not rotated I showed them a picture I took of the tire before the service that morning with time and date,they said they would talk with the mechanic I said forget it I would never be coming back I don't trust Kirbys any longer the desk guy said "well that's your choice " these people are dishonest I have heard things about them and Kirbys is full of excuses. Kirby Auto needs to care enough about their customers to buy their parts/supplies at a better/ quality company!!!! I trusted them to put in a water pump in my truck in September 23. Now in November 24 I had to put in another water pump!! Their over priced services were $100.00 more than Metric Motors and that doesn't include the diagnostic charge. Their excuse of Covid and lack of quality parts is a worn out excuse!!! If I could give them a -0 I would do that!! There's too many businesses looking for customers to accept this inferior business. We have taken 3 different vehicles to Kirby Automotive and have always been satisfied customers. Communication is great, prices are great and we couldn't recommend them more. Recently I badly bent the windshield wiper arm on my car going through a car wash to the point it was inoperable. We're in the monsoon season, so I can't drive if it's raining. I called Kia and ordered the part. It took a few days, but I had to call them to find out if the part was in. It was. So when I went to book an appointment, they said the earliest was in 8 days. I pled my case about the rain and there was no budging. I called Kirby. They got me in within the hour and worked me in. The job took 15 minutes!!! Kia couldn't fit me in for 8 days for a 15-minute part replacement. Yayy for Kirby. I won't even monkey around with Kia any more. read more

Had my car checked out after an accident on my way to Prescott. Wanted to make sure it was drivable back to So Cal. They checked out my car for 45 minutes: underneath, tires, engine, and car fluids. Topped off the oil and then gave me a full digital report! All this gave me peace of mind and they charged me less than $25! We have been taking our 2019 Expedition and our Subaru to these guys for more than 5 years even as a new car (the Expedition)! In the 58 years I have been driving I have never been more trusting of a repair shop ever before, until I found Kirby Automotive. That's saying a lot. Jacob, their service writer, is such a great guy and honest as the day is long. They are tucked away in a residential neighborhood off Viewpoint in PV. so are very convenient. We feel really blessed to have found them!!! We have had horrible experiences with Ford Dealerships in the past only taking it to them for warranty work. We just don't trust them! We trust these guys explicitly and have referred many people to them. Anymore during these unsettling times when you can't trust anyone they are a breath of fresh air. Honest, professional, and work that is top rate, and extremely well priced, clean shop and nice restrooms are just some reasons why they are so busy all the time. It might take a day or two to get in but they tell you right up front what's what. Nobody seems to do that anymore. The Heydon Family will always make them our first choice to care for our vehicles. I have been taking our two vehicles to Kirby for three years now and have always been given great affordable service so when my daughter and son-in-law came to visit for Christmas and barely made it to PV because their Acura was cutting out, I took them to Kirby the next morning. It was the Friday before Christmas and even with a small staff that day they got us in and repaired the problem, saving Christmas and getting them home safely on Monday. Went in there for a cooling system flush / power flushing (I knew more about cars than order writer). With a flush / power flushing, the thermostat has to be remove for full draining and flushing. Never got an actaul estimate from them. During the water draining they spotted a minor water pump gasket leak. I got estimate on the new water pump part and labor. I okd that... In my rush to pick up the Ford Van at their closing time, I just paid the $750 bill and drove off. The Van ran much cooler. The next day or so, while filing away the bill in my business cost file, I read the billing and they triple labor charge on the job. With the water pump job, you have to drain the water and to replace the pump you remove everything off the front of the engine where the thermostat is located. Any water pump job, you replace the thermostat also as a 2 minute job and a cheap part. Helps prevents come backs... They charged the full water pump bill plus $75 to drain the coolant and $175 to replace the thermostat also.... I stopped back in there to ask in person why I was tripled charged on the labor... the service writer (guilty look on his face) didn't know why so got the owner. The owner knew what I was talking about (look on his face) but told me he would look into it and get back to me.... nothing! I had talked to them about a front end alignment on the van and possible a $5,000 suspension upgrade for our RV.... but not now! My history, 64 years now, had tools in my hands in the crib, worked at car & motorcycles shops thru the 70's as a mechanic, in 1977 I started my own business designing and manufacturing my own line of automotive products for VW's to race cars....still in business today! Yet another auto shop that takes advantage of customers they think don't know about cars and shop misproceedures! Stay away... read more

We were on our way home from Flagstaff and had stopped in Prescott, when we stopped we noticed our front end of our vehicle had gone significantly down. We thought we had a flat tire. Called the Chevy dealer and their service department was closed for inventory (this was on a Saturday), they gave me the number to Kirby Automotive. Thank god they did! They took our car right in and looked it all over, drove it and made sure everything was good so we could safely make it back home to Phoenix. Brian was incredibly kind and we are so thankful to have found an honest place. Also, we had our kids with us and the waiting room and bathrooms were extremely nice and clean! Stopped by there yesterday with one my tires almost flat, asked the girl at the front desk if someone could check my tire pressure real quick. She said everyone was at lunch and she was obviously unwilling to ask any of the guys if anyone was willing to help me out for five minutes. I needed help, right then. Everyone takes lunch at the same time, who does that? Don't go there at lunch time if you need help. That, and the other time one of the guys used the F word right in front of me and one his employees lost me as a customer forever, and I highly would not recommend this place based solely on poor customer service and unprofessionalism. read more

I needed the repair of a common problem for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 that occurs around 60k miles: Oil cooler housing oil leak. This is a minor problem leaving small oil puddles on the ground but if it fails, all the oil dumps and engine failure is possible. I needed to drive to Phoenix in two days. Being new to the area, I didn't know who to trust so I called the Jeep dealer and the could schedule me in two weeks. Nope. They recommended Kirby. Kirby scheduled me in 3 days. Dropped the car off and the got it done in a couple days because they had to get the part delivered from Phoenix. Repair price was probably on par with dealer pricing but they got me in and on my way. Professional guys there, nice looking shop. Will go back for my next service when needed. read more

They canceled their Saturday hours and yet I will remain a loyal customer as they are worth a little inconvenience. Only thing I can say is they are truly amazing. I have a Hyundai sonata that had a few issues and they helped me non stop to fix multiple problems. They are so professional and on top of everything. They have never done an "extra" service without my permission. I had this issue with the Sun Valley shop next to the post office. Absolutely horrible but Kirby has never done that. Super informative, helpful, caring and treat their customer with kindness. As I will be selling my Sonata I will definitely be bringing my other vehicles here for EVERYTHING. Had a four wheel alignment after putting a lift kit on. Paid $95 for their service. They did not align it properly. Within one week the tires outter edge were bald. Was to bring it back to have it "fixed" but decided to give my business to big O Tire who did it correctly the first time. Just a waste of my hard earned cash. It's hard to find a good & trustworthy mechanic, but when you do, you know it. I took my 2010 F150 to Kirby for a strange front end grinding noise after they took extra good care of my inlaws when they were in town and needed help asap. The folks at Kirby took the day to repair the original issue and perform some PM that I needed done as well. All the prices were fair and reasonable. When I picked up my truck, I noticed the original issue was still audible and I notified my advisor Jacob, right away. He didn't hesitate on his apology and asked me to bring it back right away so they could "make it right" for me. I dropped it off the next morning using the early bird drop and the GM Brian called me back and found the noise also coming from the right side....they had it repaired the same day, but I was unable to pick up. I went back first thing Monday morning to pick up and pay for the extra time they took they spent to repair the other side. Jacob told me that there would be no extra charge because they "should have found the problem the first time". I was taken aback. Unwavering Integrity is what comes to mind when I dealt with the staff at Kirby on this issue. Not only could they have made up some other issue to cover their mistake, they could have also used the opportunity to charge for work that didn't need to happen. They didn't. They chose to own their mistake, made no excuses and made it right at their expense. As far as I'm concerned, they dealt with THIS customer with unwavering integrity and honesty....with me and my family. I have already told my other family and friends in town about my experience with Kirby. I will be using them again in the future for all my PM and repairs. read more

These guys are knowledgeable, fast, and fairly priced. I had just bought a '96 Ford 250 Diesel and was hauling a travel trailer from Prescott to the fairgrounds (89 right by their shop) when I heard a whack and smoke started piling out of the hood. I pulled off right by Robert's Market, parking in the dirt nextdoor. I opened the hood and sure enough, a belt had slipped/shredded and a pulley was totaled. I walked over the Kirby's and they stopped what they were doing to help me, fitting me in just before they closed. The knowledgeable tech told me the belt was installed the wrong direction through several of the pulleys, caucusing the broken pulley. Anyway, they got the pulley and belt replaced in a jiffy, right out there in the parking lot and sent me on my way. Thanks, Kirby Auto! read more

Been going to these guys for years and have recommended them to many of my friends. What prompted me to write this review is one of my friends was having a weird brake issue. She managed to get her vehicle down to them. They checked it out, drove it and checked it out again. Deemed it in great shape and didn't charge her a thing. Not sure what they did to it but it works great now. I've had three vehicles of mine worked on by them through the years. They are the only automotive place I trust fully.
