Decided to try something different and Japanese street food fit the bill. Conveniently located in a strip mall off of Vasco at 580 next door to Starbucks snd Dickey's. Was hoping to get a roll but rolls are only available on the weekends. Got the calamari which wasn't greasy but had too much crunchy breading for me. Chicken curry puffs had a mild curry taste and were fried to order so they were hot and crispy, shine through was the Japanese pancake also served hot and fresh and TASTY! It has a lot going on, Mayo, fish flakes and seaweed strips on top and the pancake was made with shredded cabbage and bacon. Loved the pancake but it's rich with strong flavors, this is more a treat or share item. As I'm writing this, the island part of me thinks it would be amazing with a side of rice and a fried egg! Restaurant is clean and new and the staff was very nice and attentive. While dining we had a chance to go over the extensive menu and will be back to try the grilled skewer items. read more

Let me start off by saying the food is good and that is why I am giving three stars. I am giving the servers a 0. The man who greeted us was really nice. I think he was a cook because he disappeared in the back. The two servers need a lot of help. I understand being understaffed, but being rude, forgetting to bring the order, and not checking up on customers is another thing. I was being really understanding in the beginning even after the server walked passed my sushi roll 4 times. I watched my roll sit there for about 15 minutes, so I decided to help. I got up and I asked if it was my roll and if it's okay to get it. The other server said yes, so I did. After I got my roll, immediately after our server came to check on the table next to us, which their food didn't come and told them I'll check on it. Apparently, it was ready too because she came back with it quickly. At no point did she come check on us during the whole time other than to take our order. When I finished eating I waited and tried to be patient for 10 minutes. I was trying to get our server's attention while she was bussing a table but she kept looking away even after she walked off and started talking to the chef. I got up to ask for my check from the other server since she was behind the cash register. I told her I would like the check please and I was trying to get our server's attention then she rudely said there is only two of us. I totally understand, but watching them serve everyone and clean table and not even check on us is not okay. Also, our server forgot my spicy mayo and I had to ask for a cup of ice for my canned root beer twice. The sushi is decent and the ramen was okay but the two servers I would pass on. Walking in, the environment is lovely and set for a relaxing and serene setting; the owner is serving guests and she is wonderful! Very kind, attentive, and considerate of your time. She did a nice job of offering additions to my meal if I would like which was nice to hear. I got the Spicy Miso Ramen and it was amazingly flavorful! The mushroom ans bamboo in the ramen were so tender while the broth had a solid kick of flavor. I've gone back twice since I first had this and can't get enough! Our family of four enjoyed eating at Kiseki on a weekend afternoon. We arrived slightly before noon and there was only one other table seated. We order a few rolls, pork cutlet over rice and a shio ramen. The rolls were super fresh and delicious. The kids enjoyed the shio ramen and the broth was flavorful and not too salty. We thought the pork cutlet was a tad dry possibly due to the cut of meat (lean) but otherwise still delicious. As we left there were 7-8 tables being occupied. read more

I have given up on this restaurant. The service here is so bad that I've had to get up and leave the restaurant TWICE. Once I was with a party of 4 who were starving and ready to order half the menu along with alcohol. however after waiting 12 minutes for our waters that never came, watching people that arrived after us put in orders, we left. The people here are nice enough but they are so horribly inefficient that you need to plan for minimally 2 hours to dine here. If you want to try this place, lunch is probably a better option over dinner when they tend to have more than just a couple tables. read more

Authentic Ramen shop! I kept seeing information and promos about this place on yelp and I couldn't wait to try it! It definitely lived up to my expectations especially the ramen broth that has been simmering for 15 hours. We ordered the spicy ramen, vegetable tempura, chicken katsu curry (which comes with a miso soup and pickled ume!), and the Sakura adzuki washoku Mochi. Washoku means foods of Japan and it incorporates ingredients reflective of the current season. Everything was delicious and so flavorful packed with lots of umami! The miso broth so rich, the pork piece inside melted in my mouth. You can add toppings and I am definitely adding an egg to it next time because I think that would make it even more amazing. The tempura was crispy and still hot when we got home a few minutes later after picking it up. The chicken katsu curry was full of flavor and the pickled ume reminded me of Hawaii :). Then the Sakura Mochi wow! It melted in my mouth and had a touch of tea flavor on the outside something new I have never experienced and it just made me oh so delighted. 4.5 stars! I was super excited to try Kiseki as it's been bookmarked for a while now, and was finally able to make the visit for a Sunday lunch. Note: they only have sushi on weekends, and it's completely worth the try!! I've never had nigiri that tasted so fresh in the area. ***SERVICE: The servers here were very polite, although it did take a while for our food to come out. Unfortunately, we received an incorrect order (ordered a chicken katsu curry over rice, and received just a chicken katsu with rice). We let one of the servers know of this, and they were apologetic and quick to fix our order, even offering us a complimentary miso soup as we waited for our curry which was greatly appreciated. ***FOOD: The food here was great!! I'd come back just to have more of their fresh fish. - Fried Calamari (3.5/5): Served with spicy mayo and laid on top of a bed of lettuce! The salmon tasted so incredibly fresh and fatty. The rice held itself together well and was nicely seasoned. Kiseki - Izakaya Near Me - Livermore, California

Worse than those dime a dozen "bento" restaurants run by business owners trying to make a quick dollar. At least those places make food so simple and impossible to screw up you at least get something edible and inexpensive. Instead Kiseki charges you prices meant for restaurants that have perfected techniques and basics of Japanese cooking that are very underrepresented in the Bay Area. None of the food here tastes fresh. The owner puts bulldog/katsu sauce on all of the skewers instead of using tare or even at least teriyaki and do not offer an option for salt only (a staple of any place that sells kushiyaki). You may ask for salt only but they don't understand why and the food reflects that. The meats offered are of unknown origin, simply listed as "marinated beef" or pork. What cut are you getting? Who knows. The skewer of pork tasted like an overdone chop from Safeway. Oh, they charge $3.50 and $4 for these. Let's not talk about the gizzard. The rest of the food already bad enough. On top of this they serve karaage so dry the meat itself has the texture of gas station jerky. Karaage is so basic and common even milk tea houses understand how to make it. The pieces may be difficult to see in the photo but the size of most were no bigger than a fingernail. Why did you cut it so small? How did you expect that to be juicy? One of the rolls has ikura on it. Never have I seen ikura so pale in my life. How long has this been sitting in their freezer for? If they're buying this "fresh" from a supplier they should open a lawsuit. It tastes foul, the furthest thing from fresh. Don't serve this if you're not prepared to pay a lot for it. You won't impress people who enjoy this and know what it should taste like. This review won't deter the majority of the clientele. And it shouldn't. It's meant to deter people who will be tricked into thinking this is anything like a real izakaya. Just drive over to Kokko instead. read more

WARNING: NO SUSHI ON WEEKDAYS (ONLY ramen or skewers during the weekdays) Come back on weekend if you want SUSHI So I to try a new sushi place during the weekday (Thurs night). Yelp pulled up this place for me in my area and I have never been here, so I thought I'd give it a try. Got here and the parking lot was a bit quiet. A few tables (2) were inside when we arrived. No one asked to check for vaccination card here (hmmm). Staff were all wearing mask tho, so that's good. The place inside seems clean. There was also the option to sit outside (in the parking lot) if you like but we sat inside since it wasn't crowded at all. After sitting down I noticed they were not serving sushi or nigiri on the menu. Then the staff told me they only serve sushi on the weekend. Oops who would've known that looking on Yelp, no one unless you are reaching my review here. So that's a bummer. So I tried out the ramen and skewer. Texture of the ramen was good. Soup was real hot, just how I like it. I ordered Sweet & Sour Seafood Ramen. It was quite pricey but it seems like a good option so I gave it a try. First impression, thought the bowl of noodle was smaller than expected. For listing it for $20 a bowl (which is pretty pricey), I expected a stone pot style of a bowl. Presentation was less than expected. Soup flavor was good, tasted like Thai tom yum. There was barely squid, but had one huge shrimp in there. Fishballs and mushrooms and egg was in there as well. I finished the bowl and I could eat some more. I am a petite size and it wasn't that filling for me. So I ordered a squid skewer. One star off was for the presentation of my bowl of noodle. When it is listed for $20, customers will expect a great presentation. Overall, this place was good and I will come back again, on the weekend to try out their sushi. But the skewer options were nice and there was alot of variety. Service was really good. Staff was polite and very attentive. They noticed that I would need more napkins when I was about to de-shell that big shrimp and came by to drop them off more napkins, all on their own. The hot tea was good as well. If you are debating whether to give this place a try or not, YES, come try it. I have been to almost all sushi restaurants around the Tri-Valley area, and this one is worth trying. We went again on a weekend to try the sashimi. My boyfriend got oyakadon and I ordered a roll and the nigiri sampler. My boyfriends food arrived first and I waited 30+ minutes for my sushi to arrive. The sushi chef was preparing a lot of to go orders and usually for a large restaurant like that there are multiple sushi chefs, so there were a lot of orders. My boyfriend had finished his meal and I was still waiting for my food. One of my rolls came, it was the 49ers. The sushi rice had too much water and was mushy, not firm. I was so hungry I ate the whole thing immediately. The nigiri came, and while everything had good presentation and tasted good, I was pretty stuffed from scarfing down my roll so I could only eat the nigiri sashimi style. The sashimi was great quality. The chef and manager apologized for the wait and gave me a toro on the house. Other than that it was a pretty uncomfortable experience as a diner and I'm not so sure I'd want to deal with a wait like that again for sushi. read more

Kiseki just recently opened and we wanted to give this establishment a try. They serve ramen, donburi, and other common Japanese comfort foods. No Sushi is made here. I had the curry pork tonkatsu and my wife ordered Shoyu ranmen. Curry pork Tonkotsu - 3.5/5 The pork was lightly breaded and crisp. The pork was average, slightly dry but masked well by the curry. The dish only has two items, pork tonkatsu and rice with a generous amount of curry sauce. Miso soup was given prior to the main dish, but no salad. Shoyu Ramen - 3/5 The 12 hour broth prepared for their ramen tasted average at best. Normally, shoyu ramen broth is clear. Their shoyu broth is creamy like tonkotsu broth. The ramen came with the usual standard condiments of pork belly, sea weed, etc, but did not come with soft boiled egg. Overall, the service was good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I used to work on the other side of Interstate 580. We had a 45 minute lunch period. Not much time to drive, order, eat and return to work. Some restaurants would take our orders in advance and have our food ready for us when we arrived. I don't think Kiseki was here when I retired in January of 2020. There had been other Japanese restaurants. I remember coming to one previous rendition with my manager and another employee. We ordered as soon as we arrived and then had them pack it to go because we ran out of time. They weren't even busy. Simply incompetent. This time we stepped in and waited to be noticed. It was just before noon, only one other table was in use. The server had his back to us as he waited for the kitchen to pass him a pick-up order through the pass. It might not be a bad idea to put a mirror over the pass so they can see customers step in. A bell on the door would not be a good idea because the background music while not intrusive is loud enough that the bell might not be heard unless mounted near the pass. At any rate, when he turned and saw us, we smiled and told us to take any available table. We sat and he brought over menus and took our drink orders. The menu is pretty extensive even without sushi or sashimi which is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. The sushi bar itself looked so lonely with its display case not lit up and sitting empty, devoid of fish. There are a couple of dishes that we usually order when checking out a Japanese restaurant for the first time. They are Agedashi Tofu (not on the menu); Mixed Tempura and Hamachi Kama. We got the: Mixed Tempura - 5 - When presented, I thought that the tempura looked thick and heavy and not at all airy. The prawns appeared to be on the smaller side and had not been skewered so they curled when cooked. Many Japanese restaurants serve Frozen Tempura with the Prawns from one vendor and assorted veg from other vendors. You can tell because the tempura batters themselves have different colors and textures. It's always best to attack the prawn first while it's still hot. My Goodness! It was light, airy and simply wonderful. The texture was terrific, the prawn was cooked to perfection. I was tempted to order a dish of five more but I knew I would explode if I did. The veg were very good but the prawn was the standout. Miso Ramen with Soft Boiled Egg (+$2) - 4 - It was a decent bowl of ramen. I usually don't order Miso so the broth was a tad salty for me. A couple of slices of pork, fish cake, Green Onions, and Wood Ear Mushrooms. Gyudon - 5 - Beef, Egg, and Onion simmered in a seasoned sauce over rice. She sprinkled on some of the offered Togarashi and went to work. She said that the Beef was tendor and plentiful. Everything came together well and she really enjoyed it. Service was very good. Our server came back often to check on us. If I still worked in the area, I'd be back often to check out the rest of the menu. read more

We absolutely love the sensational Japanese food and outstanding service at Kiseki. They serve ramen, yakitori, udon, soba, and donburi every day and fresh sushi and nigiri on the weekends. Every dish is prepared with the utmost care and served by friendly staff members. We had a friend gift us an assortment of yakitori, sushi and nigiri with sides through Door Dash, and the weekend we scheduled the delivery, the sushi chef was on vacation so we only had the yakitori delivered to us. All of the skewers were flavorful and perfectly grilled, they left us wanting more. The following weekend, we requested the rest of our order to be delivered to us, and since a DoorDash driver was unavailable and we were just across the street, the sushi chef delivered the food to us himself! Go to items for me is their Yakisoba and Takoyaki. Yakisoba has lots of flavor. I prefer ordering it with chicken over the beef since the chicken is really tender. They only serve sushi on the weekend. I had their sushi once to go, so I plan to go back soon to try it fresh. Staff is friendly the few times I have been now. When they noticed I didn't finish my yakisoba, they asked if anything was wrong. Nothing was wrong, I just was full from sharing my partner's tonkatsu curry. I was a first timer at Kiseki and let me just say, I was extremely pleased with my experience here! For my appetizer, I ordered the chicken gyoza! It was so crispy and the sauce wasn't your typical plain soy sauce! For my entree, I ordered the miso ramen per all the amazing reviews and it was delicious! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was very flavorful. Lastly, the staff was very sweet and the ambiance was great with tasteful music playing. The star of the dish was the soup served on the side - ammazing! Spicy miso ramen - 5/5 Absolutely loved this dish. We ordered two plates of this, one with chicken and one with pork. Both were delicious. Very tasty ramen broth, noodles and fresh ingredients. It was not spicy enough to make any of us uncomfortable, (we were 6 people with varying level of spice tolerances.) We requested them to not put the mushrooms in the ramen (as not everyone in our group liked mushrooms ) and provide it on the side as well as several extra bowls as we wanted to share the two orders of ramen among six people. I absolutely love the food here, I got the shoyu Ramen and it was really savory not too salty but a pretty good amount. For me the portion wasn't too big but for some people it might be. We also got the spider roll which was really good, The spicy tuna roll which is great quality, and the crazy horse roll which we weren't a particular fan of, because there was a lot going on with it but we could definitely see how people would like it. For our starters we got the calamari and the garlic edamame both of which were absolutely delicious. The general environment in the restaurant was really great and it wasn't fussy at all it was very calm and relaxing while still being exciting enough to not make you bored. All in all we loved this restaurant and we absolutely recommend it for anyone who likes Asian food up in the Livermore area. read more

I really liked this spot! It's close, it's unique and the food is wonderful. There is always plenty of parking, and if you're doing a pick-up order, the food is always ready right on time! I also love that it tastes healthy and isn't too "heavy". :) The Takoyaki was amazing, probably the heaviest of the items I ordered, but they're done right! Savory and creamy sauce made it so delicious and hit the spot. I think my favorite was the salmon teriyaki, because they don't overdo it with the sauces! It was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful flavor. They put the sauce on the side so you can do it yourself. Comes with wonderful, fluffy rice! We also got the fried smelt fish, which I personally love, but if you're not into "fishy" then it's not for you. We loved it :) although fried isn't the healthiest, they were delicious!! The green tea cheesecake, although small, was quite amazing and unique and a great way to end our meal! Everything here was amazing and I can't wait to try more on their menu! My sister and I were in the area. I was craving ramen so bad, so yelp brought us here. It's a nice vibe, I was able to satisfy both my ramen and sushi cravings at one time! We started off with hot tea. Then, both my sister and I got a ramen bowl each. I added nori, corn and the marinated egg (yum!). The service was nice. The restaurant was fairly empty so they were attentive. We had my niece with us who is under a year old and they were nice enough to give us a high chair. we ordered her a side of udon noodles, which she loved. We also got takoyaki and a sushi roll.
