We went around 11:30 for lunch. Waitress was super nice and paid good attention to us. The chicken katsu was fantastically fried to perfection and the salad was really good. My only thing is I felt like the fried rice could have maybe used more seasoning to be more flavorful but definitely could still eat it with my katsu. My husband and I randomly decided to try Kiseki and we're so glad we did. The waitress was friendly and helpful, making sure to check in on us regularly (but not too much!). Kiseki is an amazing and absolutely phenomenal restaurant. Came here on 2 occasions and sat outside and inside. When we sat outside, they set up umbrellas and a portable AC near the tables. Sitting inside, the interior was decorated beautifully. Both times, the hospitality and service were amazing, our waiters were very kind. Our food arrived quickly. Whatever we ordered - ramen, sushi, tempura, curry and more - not a single dish didn't meet our expectations. Every dish was unique, all of the elements were amazing down to the texture, flavor, and presentation. It would be impossible to leave a plate unfinished! The food is also priced very reasonably. My best friend and I saw this place last month after our Mtn bike ride in Livermore. We we're looking for a place to eat and saw this Japanese restaurant. We were so glad we came across it. The food is delicious and very friendly staff. We liked it so much that wanted to try out their sushi's and went back on Saturday for dinner and brought our wife, lol. Service - nonexistent. Walked in got seated, waiting 5 minutes no waters no menus, no napkins and chopsticks, I had to grab it from another empty table. I got up and got the menus myself. Waited another 8-10 minutes to order after menus were set down and on the side. Only 3 other tables were there, 1 was waiting for their full party to show and the other were already eating. I'm no expert in Japanese food, but when I saw the 4.5 star rating, I immediately jumped to look at the pictures. It struck me as a red flag when you see that the business owner posted pictures with that white background. I wasn't planning to come here, but my bro and his wife suggested coming here. I clenched my teeth and joined unwillingly. I knew I'd order just a cooked roll just to be safe - honestly would not want to eat anything raw from an unauthentic Japanese restaurant. I also could tell their cooking skills weren't up to par based on the pictures and I was pretty right! We ordered a katsu curry with rice, chicken kaarage ramen, a few skewers and two rolls (spider roll and the some salmon with imitation crab roll). My sis in law got the ramen and said it was good, but I had a piece of her chicken and it was just blah. She didn't look like she was enjoying the food at all, but I'll take her word for it. Anyway, the skewers..wow, tasted so disgusting. The marinated beef was pretty tough, the mushroom one was bland, the gizzard was not fresh and finally the heart one was under cooked - a huge disappointment..I wanted to stop my husband from ordering them, but he too didn't want anything else on the menu because nothing seemed appetizing. I don't blame him. Onto my brother's katsu curry over rice. They must have used the cheapest Japanese curry blocks because I have made this dish before and the color is dark. The curry was bright yellow and didn't taste great. The katsu was super dried and I could tell they tried to beat that meat and was probably freezed for a while! My brother said it was good, but I tried it and it wasn't good at all. my first visit to kiseki was with one of my closest friends who absolutely adores this restaurant so I was super excited to try it out for the first time! the inside of the restaurant was super clean and well organized....I also appreciated how quick and polite the service is here! I ended up getting the curry tonkatsu while my friend ordered the salmon teriyaki. I have to say I never thought of myself as a big curry fan before this but wow! this japanese curry has to be one of the best I've ever had. not too runny or too thick, just right! I love how the chunks of potato and carrot aren't too big or too small, but cut up into perfect bite sized pieces. the tonkatsu was nice and crunchy yet still juicy on the inside! (ahhhh man im craving this dish while writing this review....) also paired with egg I added on the side....MAN this is such a delicious meal, I crave it all the time now to say the least. I ordered the special ramen of the day and my husband ordered the spicy miso. First. The ramen is SO GOOD. The noodles are a great texture, really perfect. They blended perfectly with the broth. My only complaint is you have to order an egg to get a soft boiled egg with it, and that ups the price by $2. The egg is perfect though, an excellent compliment. I rarely drink the entire bowl down when getting ramen but I did in this case. We got scallops, shrimp, beef, and chicken heart skewers as well as calamari, and I loved literally everything we tried. I've been coming here for about a year for ramen to go orders. It's always delicious! They keep the noodles and broth in the same container unlike a lot of other places. This keeps the noodles hot and cooked which makes it taste the same as a dine in bowl of ramen. The service is incredibly quick and friendly. We made a reservation for dinner here after coming across the great reviews and not being super familiar with the area. Its unassuming location in a strip mall parking lot means that parking is easy. They have a tent outside with cute outdoor tables, but weather was not great so we sat inside. We weren't sure what to order as it was our first time, but our waitress was helpful and friendly and recommended the chicken gyoza to start, which were crispy on the outside, flavorful and juicy on the inside. We also got the mixed tempura and really enjoyed that they were coated in just the right amount of batter and not oily at all. I then ordered the black garlic ramen and my boyfriend ordered a couple of different sushi rolls and a sashimi plate. I am a bit of a ramen connoisseur, so am always a little skeptical when trying a new place, as we have some of the best ramen near home in San Mateo. I was cautiously optimistic when I saw that it was a 20 hour house-made broth, and it did not disappoint. The tonkotsu broth was rich and flavorful, and the perfect meal for the cold rainy weather. It was packed with garlic flavor and topped with roasted garlic cloves - a garlic lover's dream. The noodles had a satisfying chew. The chashu was very thinly sliced, and while I did enjoy the flavor, I do tend to prefer thick cuts of tender juicy chashu in my ramen so this was the only slight let down. I added a soft boiled egg which was perfectly cooked and delicious with the broth. Overall I have to say it was some of the best ramen I have had outside of San Mateo because of the delicious broth. I would not hesitate to order it again. The price was also incredibly reasonable. I'm not a fan of raw fish, so the sushi and sashimi were all eaten by my boyfriend, but he did really enjoy the freshness and quality, especially of the sashimi plate. Service was friendly and attentive, and we will definitely be making a return trip in the future (after we eat our leftovers because we ordered way too much food for the two of us, lol). read more

This particular spot in the Vasco strip mall has been various things through the years, most of them pretty middling, but I very sincerely hope Kiseki is here to stay. They're still going through some growing pains I think, and I did have to wait a little bit, but everything was well worth it. (I blame the rise of DoorDash and also the fact that I was kind of hiding in a corner at the bar) I opted for salmon and chicken yakitori - both delicious, especially the salmon. The sauce was slightly sweet, and they were generous with the toasted sesame seeds. Best of all though, this first visit, was the tonkatsu. Perfectly breaded and crispy and everything tonkatsu is supposed to be without being too greasy. Hit the spot. The salad is a little light on the dressing, but the tonkatsu was so good I didn't care. Green tea cheesecake is yummy - would be better without the drizzle of Hershey's chocolate sauce. The hot tea is better quality than the tea I've had at other local Japanese restaurants. Huge plus there. Will be returning to try their ramen, which I'm so ridiculously excited for. Given my first visit, I'm frankly ready to try everything on the menu.
