I stopped here at 11am on a weekday. The parking lot was full but I found complimentary valet parking (well, tip of course) behind the building. The interior of the place was packed, primarily by laptop campers. They have some outdoor seating too but it was also packed even though there was no shading from the hot late-morning sun. I placed my order "for here" and hoped something would open up. I purchased a vanilla latte and a chocolate cake-like-pastry from their slim offerings. They do have various toasts but I was in the mood for a pastry. Luckily someone left right when my order came up. It was a child-sized stool at a tiny, low table so I squished between people and sat down. I get that this place is suppose to be hip but I was very uncomfortable. I didn't see anyone over 25 years old here - I guess this style is what the younger crowd likes. The latte was excellent. You can't really get a better latte than what they serve here. The cake thing was crumbly but pretty good. They offered no plate or utensils so I ate with my fingers which quickly became covered in a brown, chocolatey mess. Although the latte was really wonderful my return would be doubtful due to the various inconveniences. I can get an equally great java elsewhere where I can actually relax and enjoy it. read more

The area is so Modern and Hip that people go here looking like models, women with their hair slicked back, full make-up and all decked out in the morning, while the men who come in here are just handsome! That's the first thing I surprisingly noticed and of course, it's a young adult hot spot where college kids go (as included in the picture) or aspiring business folks and meet-ups happen. Oh yes, the coffee! The coffee is good, varieties of Matcha and Coffee's with Ube included! The baked goods is yummy! I tried their Chocolate Banana Loaf and that was crisp and soft at the same time and it was Gluten Free! The location of KIT Coffee is next to a popular Vegan restaurant called Gracias Madre and near eclectic retail boutiques selling fashionable clothes, skin laser therapies, an art decorating store for kids parties and just a relaxing area to stroll and shop. Drinks & food taste amazing. My ONLY issue is that they take SO long to make the food. Every time I order food it will take minimum 25-35 minutes to come out. Even days it's not busy, I'm waiting here now tying this up....Mind you I get avocado toast, so they literally don't even have to cook anything except toast the bun.... Please help me understand ..... also this location gives you less lox than Irvine location. Go to Irvine location for a better experience & meal. I usually go to the Irvine KIT location located in the business complex because it's closer to where I live but they're closed on the weekends, so I only go to this location in that event. However, after being a regular customer at both locations I can confidently say that the Irvine one wins by a long shot. The three stars are for their convenient hours and significant amount of indoor/outdoor seating in comparison to the other location. However, I truly feel that this location misses in regard to the staff/customer service and the quality of their drinks. My favorite drink from KIT is the 'Thank You Berry Matcha' and I've never ordered anything else, but this location somehow never gets it right the way that the Irvine one does. I wanted to love this place but this is the third time I've been (I've tried early morn, afternoon, and lunchtime during the WEEK) and no seats at all. Lots of people working. Also it's pretty expensive and the quality coffee isn't good. The cappuccino and mocha I've had have no taste. The strawberry milk espresso coffee I got was good! Overall won't return, never seats available and expensive coffee for not great quality. Id rather save my money for Herst, Bluebottle, Vacancy or even Starbucks! read more

I've been here 4x over the past year. 3 out of the 4 times I was disappointed in my experience. Today, I ordered a gingerbread latte through the app but I took my first sip and realized they just gave me a regular latte. I walked over to Kean down the street (highly suggest this place!) to get my morning coffee instead. The other few times I've gone to KIT, the customer service is subpar - they don't greet you and when you order through the app they don't say your name when they set it on the pickup counter. I've been coming to Kit a lot over the years, and have always loved their matcha and menu options. I'd love to give them 5 stars, however, the last 2x I've ordered (using online system) have left me disappointed in their service and team coordination. I arrive a few minutes before my order is set to be ready. I take a seat and make sure I'm out of the way of customers standing in line. After about 15 min passed my pick up time I notice that customers who ordered in line are getting their items before me. I continue to be patient, seeing they are busy. I lean over and look at the drink receipts, notice my name and matcha sitting there - I assumed this meant they were just waiting on my toast order. I cont to be patient. At about 30 min passed my pick up time, I insert myself (kindly) in front of the espresso machine and ask the barista to check on my order. She gives me my 20 min old sitting matcha and hands the ticket to the kitchen. They hadn't even started making my order. This is the second time this has happened. It's minor, I understand, however, when something like this happens, the service recovery efforts should kick in to make things right. And behind the scenes, streamline communication between front and back to make sure your customers are taken care of. read more

I love their beverages, the teams kindness, and my avocado garden toast with soft scramble added. It's the best. Is it always as fast as pre-covid? Yes, unless it is packed. Please consider. Also, I usually get matcha lattes here. At Kean, I unfortunately got digestive issues, using the same milk and everything. Their ingredients are really good at KIT! Thank you. This cafe is in the cutest little strip mall area with a lot of different boutiques and a cute brunch place called @hautecakes. LOL everyone looks pretty, rich and important in there - so I get subconsciously embarrassed pulling in the parking lot with my shitty Mazda ;D Anyways, when I went there my first time @katsotoday, we were originally going to go to Haute Cakes but they were so packed! Of course I get mine without the egg or the cheese really, but normally it comes with scrambled egg, hash brown, bacon, cilantro rice, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, wrapped in a flour tortilla toasted on a grillpress. As you can see, the lattes are IG worthy. The white one was mine, but I don't know how they made it look so white! The ambiance and decor of this place is 10 out of 5, but the coffee wasn't great for us. We got the regular Vanilla Latte and a Chai Latte and both were way too milky. There was little to no chai or espresso flavor in our drinks. It didn't taste bad, but just tasted more like cups of steamed milk. Also, the drinks are more on the pricey side. I didn't get to try the food here, but the matcha toast looks pretty amazing. As I mentioned, the decor in here is beautiful - very clean, crisp, and modern. The only downside is there isn't really a place to work comfortably imo. They have a few tables and a long bar table, but it's really narrow and there's not too much space to lay your stuff out, if that's the intent. The parking situation is a little hit or miss. The lot isn't exactly big and we got lucky with our spot, but I think they also have a valet option if you're down. read more

It was a little bit hard to find it at first as the Apple Maps lead us to a parking lot in front of a dermatology clinic. It turns out the main entrance of the coffee shop is from the Westcliff Dr. Anyways.. plenty of parking on both sides of the building so no issues there. The staff were okay, not really helpful in explaining the menu. We ordered the Smoked Avocado Toast and a strawberry ricotta toast with a latte (breve). The coffee was really good and the food was okay. The outdoor patio is cool and is situated close to Gracias Madres (a taco place) so you get free music if you're into that. They also have a few tables inside the hallway leading to the other shops if you feel like sitting on couches. Overall experience: Good cozy coffee shop for a couple of hours of studying serving good coffee and interesting food options. read more

I'll admit I'm that person that will spend $10 on avocado toast and $6 on a latte when I can probably make it at home for way less but life is short so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Kit stood out to me because of the variations in toast - they have savory and sweet. I'm more of a savory person so I ordered the Smoked Avocado Toast w/ an egg. I tried making this at home and I'll say that it tastes nothing like Kit's variation lol. It was mouth watering and delicious. 10/10 would buy again although it was like $14 just for the toast. Ouch. I also ordered a hot almond milk latte and I thought it was okay. I've had better but it hit the spot. The vibes of this coffee shop is so cute. There's so much room and outlets so you can study or do your work. I loved the long benches and lighting. They also sell plants! The girl said it would be placed on the table shortly for pick up. 10 minutes later my daughter inquired again and told her "it's almost ready". I love these modern coffee shops, but can a dude get a parking spot? Circled the block twice before finding a spot. Kit Coffee, great food, amazing coffee, and terrible parking, but that's nothing new in Newport. Did you know that "Newport" is an ancient word meaning, "No Park?" Ha! I always go with a cold brew no matter the place and Kit Coffee has an awesome cold brew. Very smooth and mild flavor, almost no need for milk or sweetener. I went with a Egg white scramble on toast, it was pretty tasty and came out fast even though the place was packed. Inside of the cafe is tight with not much seating, and it recently rained so all of the outdoor seating was wet. I came here to work on my laptop, so I prefer the indoors so I can see the screen. Back inside of Kit, there are few tables and wall mounted desk area, but that's it. This place seems to be catered for more of the; eat, sip, and go type person. Not like an SBUX, where people basically set up their bedroom. The coffee and the breakfast was about $13, and they don't offer refills. You'll have to buy another full priced coffee, which is a bummer. Great coffee and great Newport People watching. Kit Coffee, you're all right. read more

KIT Coffee inhabits a bright cheery space along a strip of shops and restaurants called Westcliff Court. We pulled in hoping to find a good independent cafe that caters to the neighborhood, and we were not disappointed. At 11am on a Saturday, there was a steady stream of customers at the door, making finding a table inside a bit of a challenge. But we lucked out. Both my cold brew and my wife's latte were generously sized and satisfying. We also tried their breakfast options: smoked avocado toast and cilantro fried rice. Neither of these wowed us, and my wife remarked that she could do better at home. I was particularly perplexed why the bacon on the toast and the fried rice was chopped down to little bits. Basically that takes all the joy out of eating bacon and reduces it to a salad garnish. Who would want that for breakfast? Though we would likely skip breakfast here in the future, we do give KIT four stars for serving solid coffee. Parking can be a challenge, but you can find something if you're patient. Bonus for a clean bathroom (which is not to be taken for granted in a cafe)! read more

Super hipster coffee shop. I love it! Busy on a weekday but I luckily found parking in front of the store. The interior was beautiful and minimalist. All the green plants, wooden interior and geometric furniture are great touches. I ordered a soy london fog and matcha creme brulee toast. Both were superb!!! I highly recommend both! Two cons: 1) The music in the store was pretty loud and not the relaxing studying kind. This can be fixed with earbuds. 2) The wifi is only for 1 hour! Lame. :( Lots of great seating indoors and outdoors. Outlets are available, but not everywhere. Overall, 10/10 would come back here again! read more

A friend recommended this place last week so I decided to give it a shot. I'm always looking for incredible lattes and it definitely has the hipster SoCal coffee shop vibes. The location is great with decent parking (including some valet options). It doesn't have an incredibly large amount of seating available, but there are both indoor and outdoor options available. The menu is quite full with plenty of options for anyone, even those who require accommodations. There's also free wifi for those of us there to work work work. I tried their caramel oat milk latte, their strawberry alarm clock latte, and their garden avocado toast. The caramel latte was decent but I can't say it's the BEST I've ever had. The strawberry alarm clock was interesting. Surprisingly the flavors of espresso and strawberry do mesh, but you can't really taste the fruit itself. My favorite was most definitely the avocado toast. So well made, flavorful, and fresh. The pickled vegetable medley was such a heavenly addition to the typical toast. Highly recommend it. I enjoyed the vibe and definitely got some work done so it's a cute and quaint spot when you need a caffeinated getaway and snack! read more

I was looking forward to visiting this coffee shop because they seemed to have a really great toast selection. My eye definitely was caught by the matcha brulee toast since it sounded so unique and I've never had anything like it before. When I finally got here, the parking lot was a bit confusing because it said it was all reserved but I'm assuming it meant for the plaza that Kit was a part of so I just parked and walked over to Kit Coffee. The cafe itself isn't that large but there's a good amount of seating while you wait for your order as well as bar seating and a few tables at the end of the cafe. I was lucky to snag one of the tables at the end of the cafe after ordering my matcha brulee toast. The cashier had given me a number for my table for them to bring out my order to me and she also came over to confirm that I had wanted the toast "for here." However, I had waited at my table for at least 10-15 minutes and there was still no sign of my order. I finally walked up to the counter to see what had happened to my order and it was sitting in a to-go box on the counter. Normally, this would have been more acceptable but the cashier had even walked over to my table to confirm that the order was "for here" and said specifically that she would bring it out to my table and that was not the case. I was extremely disappointed with the service here. The toast itself was okay but the brulee coating kept breaking and falling off the bread when trying to eat so it was more like a matcha toast in the end. It was pretty good but a little too sweet after a while. To top off the bad service, the same cashier lady tried to take away my toast from my table before I had even finished eating it. In addition, the TWC Wifi they are connected to only gives you 1 hour of free wifi so this isn't a place you can study at for an extended period of time. Once upon a time, KIT coffee had really good Matcha Brulee Toast. Now, their matcha brulee toast has been renamed to Brulee Toast with Matcha flavor as an option and the resulting product is just sugar toast with a few sprinkles of matcha on top. They should just stop offering this menu item altogether as it's quite deceiving to customers. Scroll to pictures from years ago and you'll see pictures of toast totally covered in a blanket of dark green Matcha. The matcha toast I received today had just a few specks of Matcha. The taste of Matcha was totally absent. The sugar brulee was overwhelmingly sweet. The sugared crust broke in large fragments and flaked off as I was eating which made quite a mess. At this point, my toast became a sweet toast that lost the sugar brulee layer. No point in picking up the sugar brulee and eating sugar by itself. This new recipe is clearly an afterthought failure but it's surely more profitable as price has gone up but all the expensive Matcha has been removed. read more
