Got introduced to this delightful coffee shop by Yelper Devin C! As avid fans of coffee we try our best to try all the buzzed about new coffee joints that pop up around Orange County, and Kit is no exception! We arrived literally 10 minutes from closing (we didn't find out they closed at 6pm!) but the shop was moderately full with people conversing over coffee, or with their laptops working or studying. The decor in this place is gorgeous, very minimalistic and bright with wooden accents and potted succulents on the tables. Hey have a relatively small menu with all the basics any coffee lover would ever need. Up on their chalkboard menu they have their items listed: regular drip coffee, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brew, pour over etc. Funny story--as I was walking in to the shop, I walked right past Dr. Dubrow, the famous plastic surgeon, and his wife who's on The Real Housewives of Orange County! I stumbled and blurted out his name and he said hello to me, holding a cup of Kit coffee, with his wife in tow! Turns out his office is right above Kit! So I guess the place is reality star approved? Haha! Anyways we ordered vanilla lattes, my usual order at any new coffee shop, and whoaaaaa it was amazing. It was up there with some of the best coffees I've ever had. The latte was light and smooth, with the subtle flavor of vanilla! It was perfect, and it was served by very friendly workers! Hands down best coffee in Costa Mesa. It's consistent and I never have a burnt latte. Garden Avocado Toast looks like it's been to a rave but it's so freaking delicious. Staff is great. Would not recommend this place if you need an outlet, but great for just catching up with friends. They have one by the water station and one on a beam that I didn't go back in to find. Needed to get some studying done so we came and checked this place out. It was pretty busy at around 2pm on a Sunday. We had to get a table outside, but it was ok because it was a nice day. I probably wouldn't come back here though unless my friends wanted to check it out. Atmosphere- Lots of people talking here, def a hangout place. Limited seating. There are seats outside. The decor is pretty. Parking- Within a large plaza with plenty of parking in their lot. Wifi- Free but there is a time limit to it. I think it was an hour and half. Not sure though since I couldn't charge my computer. What I got- London Fog as recommended by the cashier. It was pretty good. Not too sweet. My sister got the smoked avocado toast. My first time here was this morning, the coffee was okay, very pretty aesthetic though. I had a latte and it wasn't terrible, I've had worse coffee. Also the cashier was not knowledgeable about much of what was served there, she came off very inattentive to my questions and over all like she didn't want to be there. The barista though, he had great customer service. I also ordered the avocado and tomato toast and I really enjoyed that, more than the coffee actually. I tried this place today in the early evening and I absolutely love it! It is probably one of my favorite coffee places in the area now. The store front is simple, clean, and very spacious. There are lots of tables both inside and outside. The cashier was also really nice and welcoming and was happy to help my friend and me with recommendations. My friend got the London Fog as per the cashier's recommendation and it was delicious! It was very lightly sweetened and very calming. I got the Matcha latte which I loved. They serve their Matcha latte unsweetened, so the Matcha flavor really came through. But if you'd like some sweetness to it they offer to add some honey to it, or you can add it yourself to your own liking. Kit is a really nice and quiet place to sit and catch up with friends or get work done. I am definitely coming back to try more of their drinks! read more

This place is very cute! Kind of hard to find, gps lead me to the parking lot of Cafe Gratitude, which was another good cafe. I got the matcha latte with oat milk and honey. Amazing! Their store was decorated beautifully and had many plants, candles, etc. They were VERY busy with to go orders. I will definitely try their food next time! read more

Service was friendly. Great interior but can get very crowded during the afternoon where there's no space to sit down. So come early if you want to get a seat. It was one of the best coffees we have had in LA! They also had pour over coffee which we plan to try next time. Wish it was closer to us. They are committed to making sure every cup of coffee is made well. They were enforcing social distancing and masks. All the employees were wearing gloves and they were leaving your orders at the counter, would step back and then call out your name. I felt safe getting my coffee from here. read more

When I saw all the beautiful pictures of this spot I knew I had to come and try their coffee! There's parking both in front and in then back of the plaza, and it's right next door to Cafe Gratitude. Walking in, I was so in love with how gorgeous everything was. I love the plants and the interior, you can tell a lot of thought was put into the details. The menu is fairly simple, when I went they did not have the full menu quite yet as it had just opened. It really does feel like a big city coffee shop finally in OC. The lighting is perfect, there's ample seating, and it's overall a good place to come and get some work done/catch up with friends. The only issue is that they have guest wi-fi with only one hour free and after that you have to pay. So maybe only come and work here if you have less than an hour's work to finish. My latte was smooth and I enjoyed it. And they actually put it in a real glass cup if you get it for there. None of that plastic cup stuff here, nope! read more

What a stunning coffee shop in Newport Beach. Orange County has just a handful scattered throughout the region. Oh, coffee shops there are many, but that can match the quality of Kit are few and far between. That's why a trip to Kit is a treat, should you find yourself in the Newport area. The coffee program at this shop is of high pedigree, and very comparable to that of some of the highly regarded shops in LA. Serving Portland based roasters, Coava and Heart. With a food program that can rival any other - if you can call toast creations a food program. I mean, now a days toast is considered a meal, isn't it? I'll say this, you're at least guaranteed good coffee, and great toast - should you want it. Tie in the picturesque space and it has all the makings of today's coffee spaces. The plant life is green and thriving. The shelves are neatly organized and stocked with terrific merch and goods. It'll make your heart skip a few beats. Staff is cool too, so no snobby vibes either. I wanted to like this place. It has potential. My favorite dish there is the Cilantro Fried Rice, especially with crispy bacon...it's delicious. The coffee, to me, is just ok and pricey. The iced chai tea latte, was a bit watered down. Sadly, you will want to reserve, at least, an hour to spend here. The dishes take forever to come out and there is hardly any seating. But, unfortunately, my biggest complaint is the manager at the Newport Beach location. Until he changes his attitude and stops acting like the world is against him, he will continue to lose employees and customers. You can feel the tension in this establishment the moment you walk in. And I have been here a handful of times, so when I post this review, it is not based on a one-time visit, it is every single time I have been here. When you have a bad attitude, as a manager, it trickles down to your employees, who is part of your team, by the way (there is no "I" in team), and from your employees to the customers. When your employee, her name is Liv, is giving great customer service, as they should be, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, correct your employees in front of the customers. It is highly rude and unprofessional and customers don't want to see that. They want to be greeted and not just be another number. I think he needs to go on a long overdo vacation. I've been to this coffee shop a couple times: earlier in the pandemic and more recently this weekend. Online ordering and pickup is a very popular option at this location. Walk-in ordering is also available and drinks are prepared quickly. I do find that the drinks are so wildly priced for the small quantity that you receive. The taste is good, but not justifiable. Parking is horrendous. Weekday, weekend, it sucks. As for food and pastries, their breakfast burrito is delicious and there are some gluten free pastries available. They do have seasonal drinks such as the pumpkin pie latte if you are up for spending $7. read more

Ran into this place while driving next door to check out Keans coffee. We actually stopped and had a cappuccino at Keans first and was so disappointed I begged my husband to also go to Kit! My husband loved his coffee and I opted for the London Fog after hearing they made all their syrups in house. I tried this place out for an early morning on Saturday - for some me time and some time to sort my thoughts. First things first, if you get there early (7-8 AM), you will have ample parking and open seating outdoors. If you get in after that, you may have a bit of a hard time finding parking or seating. Just something to keep in mind if you're coming and staying for a bit. Now, for the rest: Food - I had the Lox Avocado Toast and I'll definitely rate this a solid 5/5, the Lox was fresh and the Avocado toast was well done. Temperature was good, well packed. Definitely would recommend and I would definitely have it again. Drink - I ordered the cappuccino and it was good, nothing that really stood out to me as spectacular - I'd rate this a 4/5, it hits the spot for the morning. Concluding thoughts: The ambiance is enjoyable, definitely a great spot if you're looking to start your day early and have some time for yourself. If you come later in the morning, it is still rather nice - but you will have noise and a larger crowd. Cute spot. Good vibes. Gets a bit loud so wouldn't recommend studying here but nice place to come to chat with a friend. Was told the Matcha latte is not sweetened so I added some honey, but it was very rich. Even with the honey it still didn't taste sweet but i actually liked it. It tasted like what matcha should taste like. Some cafes make the matcha lattes too sweet that it kills the matcha flavor but not here. My friend got the London Fog and it was very flavorful. I don't usually like earl grey teas but this was kinda floral...? The avocado on the Avocado toast wasn't as thick as I was expecting but the pickled veggies was such a unique twist. Really enjoyed the pickled veggies with the avocado. The cinnamon apple one was, of course, sweeter but matched perfectly with my (unsweetened) matcha latte. It was like apple pie on a toast. Very yummy. The only thing I guess I would say is that the toast was a bit hard so I had to work to cut the toast. We used fork and knife instead of just using our hands as I was sharing both toasts with a friend. I've been here 3x now and if you find a drink you like, then it's worth it. During this covid though, the social distancing is not the best. You order at the counter and then they put your drink by the exit. Well, that doesn't work when your entrance is the same as your exit. When you have a line, your on top of each other. That's the only thing I don't like about this place. But I don't go that often. I enjoyed the blackberry mint syrup which they can add to my latte and it's yummy!! This is random but I also love their ice cubes for iced drinks. They have the square ones that are just right and don't melt too quickly. I'm sad to post this because I have been a customer since opening. Below is my email to the store since they don't have a phone number to call. I'll leave this poster until the store calls me... Hi, I've ordered pickup almost every week since the pandemic started, and have been a very long time customer since you've opened. I pretty much have the same order each time and this order from today disgusts me so much that I might just never come back as well as sharing with everyone I know about today's order. My wife does not eat bacon and has a aversion towards mayonnaise, and this was a disaster. I ordered a breakfast burrito without meat and with egg whites, and there was lots of bacon inside. I attempted to call but you have no listed number. On your site I left a message asking for a refund. Then she went to eat the croissant and it was sliced with mayonnaise in it! This was the most upsetting part. I can understand the burrito mistake, but to pack a damaged / altered / contaminated crossaint especially at this time of COVID; is unacceptable. KIT was pretty darn good. I went with their drip of the day. I should have asked what it was. It was so smooth. I made the mistake of just adding creamer without tasting. It might not have needed even the splash that I added. It had earthy comforting flavors that warmed my belly and my heart (not to be mistaken with heart burn :P). Good coffee can really start the day off right. The inside was small and had limited seating but the outside patio area offered additional seating. We found a corner where it was quieter than the indoor seating where I felt the acoustics made the joint louder than it needed to be. Kit Coffee is a chic, moderne coffee shop with hipsters and yuppies all over the place. Sometimes I wish I thought about opening a cute coffee shop like this (I probably would be rolling in bank, right?!) Anyway, coffee is okay. I usually get the cold brew or a dirty chai and it's decent. It's nothing to scream about because it's certainly underwhelming compared to the atmosphere. The breakfast burrito was pretty good though... But it's a such a high mark-up ($10) that I don't think I would come back and order that again. I would pay $10 if they guaranteed it was some organic blah-blah item, but it's not. Kit Coffee, you're okay but I'm done having you steal what little money I have away. read more

So far both of my experiences have been great here. The ambiance is modern and trendy -- the baristas are friendly (and very handsome. Hey denim jacket ;D. Sorry, I had to.) The cold brew is good, but not how it's usually done for most other coffee shops. It tastes like they possibly use a blonde/medium, roast here since it's a little more on the acidic and tangy side. Or they're not steeping it as long? Just be prepared to not taste the traditional mellow, bold, nutty flavors. I came down to Newport for the weekend and was trying to find the best local coffee shop in the area and this did not disappoint! Super hip and trendy vibe with a relaxing atmosphere. I actually found this place from Instagram, and it defiantly has that vibe where you want to just take pictures of the whole place. I LOVED the avo toast that I got as well as a matcha tea latte. My friend recommended that I visit Kit coffee for the best London fog latte. I went there on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was bustling with people. I noticed they also served food, but too bad I just ate breakfast. I ordered my London fog and it was delicious. I don't know what they put in there but it's the best one I've ever had.
