This little hidden gem had been on my bookmarks for months! Finally decided to check it out, we're very picky with our poke bowls as we've had some very bad experiences with certain places that apparently do not serve their fish fresh. We were greeted by the hostess who was also the server and waiter lol but he was pleasant and patient with our party. I must say the presentation was what initially dragged me over, I was wondering if the presentation will match the actual taste of it and oh boy yes it did! We also ordered the baked salmon rolls and wow it was amazing! I love their menu selection as it has a pretty good mix of different dishes and it caters to those who do not wish to simply have poke. If you don't like too much rice in your specialty rolls, this is not the place for you! Rice was way too much and the actual fish parts were meager. The poke and eel bowl was deemed okay/pretty good by others I was with. Extra star b/c the owner/chef came by and tried her best to rectify the situation. Picked up some lunch today. The lady behind the counter was very sweet and was nice enough to say that it was her first day. So, that was a plus. I ordered some spicy tuna roll for my lunch and I am sorry, it wasn't all that good. It looked like something I could have picked up easily from Kroger or Publix's sushi area. It didn't look like it was even made in house. It was packed in those containers like those from the store I just mentioned. It would be nice to offer along with some miso soup, a nice salad with ginger dressing or a seaweed salad. Plus, make your to-go orders a bit nicer on your presentation. Had the miso soup but there was not much flavor and no tofu or seaweed in it. Plus, it could use some chopped green onion. It's pretty bland. Find a good recipe on line and test it out. Omg this place is so delicious. The owner used to work as a chef at The Ritz-Carlton so I know the food quality and ingredients are top notch. The half and half chicken is amazing. (Our kids love it) Try the succulent fried pork dumplings. The nigiri appetizer is fresh and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the sushi rolls. This is our favorite place for sushi in Duluth. Rainbow roll and spicy tuna rolls do not disappoint. The sushi bowls are yummy and fresh. The rice is cooked to perfection. There are so many healthy options. They serve healthy Korean sushi, soup, salad and hot stone bowls here. They also have a brunch buffet on Sunday that I've yet to try, but I will. Most of their ingredients are fresh, even their wonderful homemade lemon dressing! Here are a few favorites which are wrapped in rice paper rolls: Tuna Rice Rolls Salmon Rice Rolls Veggie Rice Rolls I've also had their Korean Grilled Short Ribs Salad which consist of marinated short ribs over a bed of mixed greens, grilled vegetables, avocados and grape tomatoes. Located between Starbucks and 5 Guys at the corner of Satellite Rd, 121 Salad and Sushi Bowl is a wonderful, cozy restaurant offering fusion Japanese and Korean dishes. The inside is cozily decorated as a restaurant meets cafe feel with rustic industrial wooden feel, paired with a book wall, and light amount of greenery. I love the touch of romantic lights on the ceiling. It makes this casual place feel very intimate. This place would be great for singles, couples, or small groups as the seating provided is about 30-40. I personally prefer smaller establishments and the intimate feel they can provide. The menu provides a vast selection while being condensed enough to quickly review within a few minutes. Everything is very affordable. The menu in summary contains (I also notated some of my personal suggestions) : -Breakfast -Starters- Yelp right now is offering a check in promotion of either Gyoza or 3 pc Takoyaki. -Sushi/Poke Bowls - You can ask for lettuce instead of rice :). -Special and Normal Sushi Rolls- I recommend the Salmon Spring roll- very popular. Also, all rolls can be requested to be deep fried or add cream cheese I believe. -Salad -Beverages- They have monsters and Guinness! Thy are also offering a yelp promotion of bogo beer. *They also offer large catering options **They have promotions that they mention on listings posted around the restaurant such as their Udon Stir Fry or Hot Bowls. The quality of the fish is notably a bit higher quality of causal poke places in the Atlanta area. A big bonus. I believe with your order you receive a complimentary miso soup (with free refills) There is a handful or sauces offered. I don't use sauces much honestly but I think the selection was: -Spicy Mayo (ranch based I think) -Sriracha -Soy sauce -House sauce The lady who attended to us during our visit was extremely sweet and kind. I believe this had a unique flavor to it, but was a little too salty to my taste. The Fried Pork Dumplings were free! Maybe I am spoiled by my families dumplings, but they had a powdery taste to them. The Crunchy Brussel Sprouts were delicious with a nice balsamic glaze to it. I would recommend this dish. I ordered the hot bulgogi bowl to go and when I got home I was disappointed to find out there's 2 inches of rice with bulgogi sprinkled on the top layer. The crunch one was also good, but I would get a full order of the garlic soy next time because it was especially tasty. Both were perfectly crunchy but not over-breaded and so juicy inside! My husband liked his Crunch California roll. I like that they use shredded crab mix instead of the crab sticks; makes the roll more interesting. I forgot to get a picture of our free dumplings for the Yelp check-in but they were delicious as well. The employees were very kind and they gave us a free mini dessert, too. This place is actually really great! It may be a little hard to get to but the food tastes great! I grabbed the Bulgogi Bowl and the Salmon Skin roll. The bowl was okay. All the vegetables were good like the radish and seaweed but the rice was dry and stale. They gave me 2 miso soups, but I'm not sure if they were complimentary. The roll was fantastic. The flavors of raw salmon, crab, and shrimp blended together so perfectly. Then topped off with cucumber, avocado, and masago made it so delicious! This place is an Asian foodie gem! Found this restaurant with some help from Yelp. It's close to our house and convenient because they're open after 9pm. The server ironically lives in our neighborhood too. It's a small restaurant that just opened in August 2017 and just got their liquor license last week so it's still growing. I ordered the Hawaiian classic salmon poke bowl with the signature 121 sauce. It's tough to compete with so many other poke bars opening but their signature sauce gives it a new twist. I liked it but still wanted more variety of sauces to choose from. My wife got the yummy yummy roll and they were ridiculously huge sushi rolls! You know the look when someone else orders something that has you regretting what you got. The rolls were very good and you get your money's worth. The server (who was very friendly and helpful) offered us a sample of the pork belly skewers that they are thinking of incorporating into their menu. I don't eat pork but the Mrs couldn't stop raving about it. With so much competition in the area, I hope that 121 can be successful. Once they've established their full menu and crowd, I think they'll do well. Definitely returning soon. read more
