Always a great place to go. Food and drinks are great, atmosphere is casual but nice, staff if friendly and insightful. Only downsides are prices are high for what you get, the "full bar" is not actually a full bar, and there's some inconsistency between visits. Specifically, portions and spiciness of items will be different between visits and asking for a mixed drink is usually responded with "we're out of that" or "we're not able to make that". read more

We've eaten here twice now. The first time we had the hot honey chicken sandwich, the fish and chips, and the chicken and waffles. We started with the roast sprouts and cauliflower. The second time had the poutine special to start and salads as our main. Both experiences were fantastic! Fresh, hot, delicious, and fast. Full bar with plenty of beer options available. Kitchen 1883 was much more than I was expecting. As soon as I saw the restaurant was part of the adjoining Kroger, I started having second thoughts. I was afraid the food would be nothing more than a glorified food court. Decor was modern and tasteful. The bar runs along the kitchen. From the lower tables, one can see the chefs moving around in the kitchen, but could not specifically see the food itself. I'm not sure if the high top tables or bar seating can. Customer service was on point. They refilled my husband's drink so regularly, I felt like we were her only table. (We were not.) Many times the refill were given while the glass was still half full. I guess she saw it as half empty. The chicken on the chicken and waffles had a great crunch. The breading itself was well seasoned. Waffles are some type of multi grain. The crispy chicken sandwich, (I don't remember what it was called) would have been excellent without the iceberg lettuce. The lettuce overpowered the flavors of the chicken. Taking it off allowed the chicken to shine. Portions on the children's grilled cheese and sliders was much more substantial than the children's chicken and waffles. I was surprised that the kid's grilled cheese was made on multi grain bread. It looked much nicer than children's grilled cheeses found at other restaurants. read more

I love New Thought Leaders. Kroger's knows us well. It truly will be helpful to eat before grocery shopping - not sure if that was the idea, but we all will do that. Easy parking, Small menu (always makes more sense), Clean restrooms, and friendly service. I got the 1883 Burger with goetta. Loved it!! Perfect for brunch-Goetta for breakfast and burger for lunch. Waffle fries go with both. They were best waffle fries I've ever had. The presentation was very nice. All my thumbs are up in this one. I'm already looking forward to coming back for the real Belgian waffles. read more

I like to stop in here periodically. It's really developed into a great local place. Today I tried the Colorfall salad and it was great. A good solid, vegan option with the sweet potatoes, quinoa and black beans, it was pretty filling, although I still needed to eat a snack when I got home. Adding more beans would make it heartier. It was beautifully presented. My kids like eating here also. They have nice kids meals. The service was good. I'll definitely be back! read more

Dinner at Kitchen 1883 was a pleasant surprise. The menu had a good variety of dinner options; we ended up getting the roasted cauli-sprouts, chicken and waffles, and beer battered fish and chips. The cauli-sprouts were SO good and ended up being our favorite part of dinner! They were cooked perfectly and tossed with the house-made sweet chili sauce. Everything had a very made-from-scratch vibe and delivered on flavor; homemade tarter sauce, savory waffle, and hand-battered chicken and fish. Oh, and a full bar. Probably the best Bloody Mary of my life. I'm happy the first Kitchen 1883 opened in Union- we'll definitely be back! read more

Decided to swing in here on a whim after Black Friday shopping. The place was not very busy since we got there right as they opened the doors. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. I had a Bloody Mary with the fixings and my husband a Baileys and coffee. The bartender was very nice and efficient. Their menu is very small, which is fine by me, I tend to get overwhelmed with too many options! I decided on the fried green tomato, BLT wrap. My husband had a cheese burger Medium with cheddar and pickles only. The presentation of the food was great. My husbands burger came out with lettuce and tomato though he wanted it plain, no biggie he can just take that stuff right off! The burger was more medium rare than medium and he said it was good but didn't have a lot of flavor in the meat. He was happy that it was a fresh and not a frozen patty. My wrap was ok... the bacon was superb, nice thick pepper bacon. I had to dig to find the fried green tomato and when I found it, it was lacking in flavor... The lettuce in the wrap was iceberg that was starting to brown on the edges, and all of the lettuce was on one side and the bacon and shredded cheese on the other. Unless you shove the whole thing in your mouth at once it's hard to get all the flavors to meld. I know that this is a very new restaurant and sometimes little things just need to be worked out. In my case it's really not the season for green tomato's so I'm guessing what they used was a frozen bagged green tomato. With a small menu offering I expect each item to have a wow factor! I will for sure give this place another try because I think it has great potential! All of the workers were super friendly and accommodating, the restaurant itself was pleasing and very clean. read more

Super cute atmosphere. I love the decor and ambience inside. Very simple menu so you don't get overwhelmed with a lot of options. I went with the chicken and waffles. It was ok. The chicken didn't have a ton of flavor but the portions were good. My daughter got the kids Mac and cheese this was phenomenal!! I absolutely recommend getting that with any meal. This place took me by surprise and totally off guard!! It is a Kroger concept restaurant and we had a great dining experience! We first stopped at the wine store next door which blew us away!! A very nice wine bar in the Kroger liquor store! We asked about Kitchen 1833 not aware of its affiliation to Kroger Corp. and the staff related reviews from other customers. We had already planned to eat there but was surprised to see it attached to the Kroger and wanted to make sure. The reviews provided were helpful and we decided venture forward! The restaurant has no access to the actual grocery store which makes sense and makes it nicer. It is sit down table service and we had a excellent server. She reviewed the menu with us and some of their highlighted options. It was noon on a weekday so we had sodas but they do have a full bar! There are a few TVs around with no sound they were no intrusive and in the land of basketball pretty much necessary! I ordered a Bibb lettuce salad and opted to add chicken. The salad ingredients were fresh and very tasteful. It was not an overly large serving which I did appreciate. My dining partner had a salad as well and his involved Brussel sprouts. He loved it perfectly crisp! We really enjoyed our experience! Ambience was nice and comfortable. Service was on point! I gave 4 stars as it might be a little pricy once you start adding adult beverages. We would definitely return!! read more

Stopped here before heading to the liquor store next door. I'm from Michigan, so it was a bit weird to see a restaurant attached to a Kroger haha. Anyways, the restaurant was small, quaint, and looked new. I got the fried cod, which was really good. The fish didn't smell or taste fishy at all, and they were freshly battered. The batter was nice and light and well seasoned. I really like the remoulade sauce they served with my meal, it was so much better than basic tartar sauce. read more

We enjoyed our visit very much. Our 7 year old ordered off the kids menu and got a grilled chicken breast, broccoli, fruit, and drink. I appreciate a kids menu that offers fresh, healthy options. I had the salmon on butternut squash risotto and it was delicious. My partner had the pork tenderloin and you could taste the wine flavor in the sauce. All of the flavors were fantastic. Our server was attentive. The atmosphere is industrial. The lighting is bright. I'd say is is a nice, casual type place. There is a bar and they offer cocktails. read more

We have recently discovered the Anderson location and really are enjoying it. They do carryout extremely well. They do offer online order but I do notice it can be a bit glitchy. We were looking for a local place to eat, and found this place. I didn't realize that it was associated with Kroger's. Because I am vegan, and whole food plant-based, I was excited to find the butter nut wrap. Had a friend who eats the same way with me so we chose to have the butternut squash wrap, The colorfall salad, the cauliflower sprouts appetizer, the vegan white bean soup, and the avocado slaw. Fries came with our sandwich and we split everything. Was so delicious The salads were nicely presented in our favorite item was the kitchen Cauliflower sprouts. Which is a mixture of cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. The wrap was super delicious although it wasn't hot. I'm not sure if it's normally served cool but that would be one thing I would ask for next time. The colorful salad was delicious; for me I would have some less cranberries next time. I had to try out this restaurant, as it is part of the new Kroger and it was definitely worth it. The portions are large and we ended up with plenty of leftovers. I tried the beer cheese and pretzel bites as an appetizer and the cod as an entree with the waffle fries and they did not disappoint. Not only was it the best thing on the menu, but the bestselling item according to ever waitress we had wait on us. Please bring it back to your menu!
