Dining here wasn't horrible but nothing really overall moving or interesting about the whole dining experience and food. It was just OK. And sadly just OK on a street and area bustling with options...bummer. Smaller, cozy spot, but didn't have a real expression to the environment. Just felt like tables in a room. This came up as Mediterranean but the menu seemed to be a few items REALLY tied to that, and the menu isn't very expansive. The fish special looked good but also came across as just ok, with little flavor. It was not satisfying. Service was also just OK. Just covered the simple bases. Did sound like they had a no-show server, but the few patrons in were not highly demanding. But several had been sitting awhile and had to go ask for their checks to leave. They did have a very sweet gesture for a patron celebrating a birthday with serving desert with a sparkler and music over a speaker. read more

Our server Wyatt was amazing. So friendly and on top of everything. We booked this venue for dinner to be able to get guaranteed seats next door at the piano. We ordered octopus and chorizo, seafood salad, lamp chops and mussels. All the entrees were delicious. The apps we ordered are Greek salad and shrimp with garlic. Visited Kitchen 46 today. The 5 stars definitely go toward the service. Wyatt was kind, patient, energetic, and very attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu, especially the most ordered items, and made our experience more enjoyable. That said, the acoustics in this place aren't great--people talking at nearby tables sounded like they were yelling. That really took away from the atmosphere, as I was hoping for a more intimate setting and this missed the mark. As for the food, I didn't find it reasonably priced for the portion sizes, and it didn't blow me away in terms of flavor. The octopus was nicely tender but bland--perhaps a drizzle of olive oil could elevate the dish. The lamb and beef kebab came as just one skewer, which felt very small. The eggplant had a strong truffle oil flavor that was overpowering, and the prosciutto balls were just okay--not a standout. Overall, great service but the ambiance and food didn't quite meet my expectations. read more

Was in the area after going to an art show in the City. We didn't have a reservation, so nothing available inside the restaurant. Only seating outside in the covered area. Was okay, but would of much prefer to sit inside where it was warmer. Restaurant was quite busy, so our order took a long time. They apologized several times for the delay. So definitely make reservations! Food was good, really enjoyed the pizza that we ordered for appetizer. Main course was okay. Stopped by for dinner before seeing a broadway show. The location is definitely convenient if you're going to a show. The food was good, but I didn't think it was amazing. I also thought it was overpriced for what it was. We got the octopus salad, salmon tartar, garlic shrimp and the village salad. Service was good as well and it was a cozy ambiance inside. Amazing find on restaurant row. Lovely restaurant with calming background music and mood lighting. Food was the highlight. We had Turkish lentil soup, mussels and lamb and beef kabobs. Our waiter, Adam, was very attentive, but not overbearing. We would definitely return on our next visit to Manhattan. read more

Ok, and my conquering of 46th Street/ Restaurant Row continues. This time at Kitchen 46 for their Pre-Fixe dinner for the Stella price of $49. We are off to a grand start with a very kind and good humored host greeting you at the door. I opted for outdoor seating on the front patio because pretty soon the changing seasons won't allow, and now I've got some excellent people watching going on. Ahhh NYC! Anyhoo, this #sobersista had a mocktails made specially for her (not on the menu, but just ask), something citrusy and not too sweet, perfect! Ok, the meal started with 6 oysters and the Greek salad, both fresh, both delicious!! I probably should have taken the hosts suggestion for my entree but I went with the salmon tagliatelle and it was...ok. The flavor was great, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the salmon had a lovely crisp skin (though I felt the flesh was a bit dry and overcooked), but I wasnt wowed. It was just ok. The tiramisu was also just ok, as I prefer a bit more cake in my tiramisu and this one had more mousse to it. The service is great and the restaurant is lovely, so I'd definitely come back and maybe try some items off the pre-fixe menu. read more

Restaurant row would be an understatement! While in the city to see Hells Kitchen (a MUST!) we came a bit early to find an early dinner. As expected it was very busy but we walked around a little and this place felt super cute. We always appreciate menus outside the restaurant and the hostess was readily available for a couple of questions. They offered gluten free options and dishes, so we decided to give them a go. And so happy we did. Their house Sauvignon blanc was tasty and we both enjoyed the mussels + fries. The broth with the mussels was delicious (but unfortunately we both had between 6-8 unopened mussels which seemed a lot as an entree. The fries were delicious (+ I'm not a fry person!) The service was fast, efficient, personable and very welcoming. One could/should add this spot to your pre-show dinner options. read more

Out of towners from California stumbled upon this gem. Cute, fresh, crisp, and modern atmosphere. Kitchen 46 has an intimate yet causal ambiance. Staff are wonderful, friendly, and happy to share about the menu and area. Food is mediterranean based and delicious. We went with the prix three to get an appetizer, main and dessert. We went with the mezze - hummus, taztziki, and cauliflower, which comes with homemade pita, so good we ordered some to go. Mains we had the salmon and chicken, both cooked perfectly and seasoned well. We finished with cheesecake and tiramisu both good. I have to say I was surprised to read the other yelp ratings as it was not our experience. Makes me think the owner took the constructive feedback and made changes - even more of a reason to give this rating. Amazing staff, great food, and wonderful ambiance. read more

This place is quite small but has an intimate, candlelit dinner vibe. I also have no complaints about the service. Really mixed feelings about the food though, which makes me sad to knock off a couple of stars from this review. I liked the beef and lamb kebab, which was flavorful and came with thick-cut fries and some roasted vegetables. My boyfriend ordered the saffron rice with seafood, and while I liked how the seafood flavor was infused with the rice, he didn't, and he also thought that the dish could've used more salt or other seasonings. The total bill for these two dishes was $75, and the saddest thing was that I was still hungry at the end. read more

Service was good, nice place... a little plain... but the food? Quite bad. Paid $32 for a plate of seafood and muscles, shrimp, and octopus were all over cooked. Salad was just a bowl of giant leaves that were uncut with maybe 8 little squares of goat cheese. The croquettes were good. It's hard to mess up breaded cheese. The music was good vibes though! The drinks were sub par and the $19 artichoke appetizer was not good. Of the the last 500 restaurants (New York, London, San Francisco, Boston, Barcelona) I have been to, this is in the bottom 5. Where there with a Plusd voucher , for a Friday night it was not busy . Over all the service is good , we had the house wine Merlo and Cabernet is ok . The antree is very bland and insipid. We had the wild caught sea bass , the fish has not much flavor, and it serves with chick peas, the salmon served with white beans and a little rice , the food was sad and over price . Restaurant row is unfortunately full of tourist traps, but kitchen46 is not one of them. Attentive servers, mid century modern decor and most. Importantly the food was perfect. Had a birthday dinner with a large party here last weekend. They arranged for a Prix Fixe menu and it was fabulous. We started with family style Mezze (fantastic Tzatziki, Hummus, Roasted Veggies & semi-dry Tomatoes), Cheese Platters & Salad -- we could have stopped there, but we did not. The favorite entree was the Lamb and Beef Ragout Pappardelle but the Wild-fish was delicious as well. A sampling of each of the desserts rounded out the meal -- all wonderful! The service was impeccable and they even arranged for a table at the piano bar next door when we finished. Bravo to the chef, the manager and the servers -- all made the evening a smashing success.
