Food was off the charts!! Awesome fried chicken, no wonder they had to-go orders stacked up and people waiting. We also shared the Redeemer Burger (patty, egg, bacon and hash brown patty), OMG, was it good with onion rings in the side. Strictly based on food to price ratio I'm giving them 3 stars. Food was good, not great. Staff was friendly but not overly, considering it was a slow Sunday afternoon. Best burger in town. Shoestring French fries seasoned with rosemary delicious. I had their homemade ranch dressing to dip them in but they really are good without anything. I had the breakfast burger. The egg was cooked exactly how I like it. We have eaten here probably 5 times and not been disappointed. Service great and everyone was nice. We have spent 2 summers here in South Haven and we were delighted to have a new GOOD restaurant to go to. We travel in a Motorcoach and will be back next summer for sure. read more

We went last Saturday night, while it was raining, with a party of 6 adults and 2 babies. I was scared to ask the wait...and then we were sat immediately. A quick look at the menu and it looks super interesting...please please if you are picky do not let this stop you. Their food is incredible. I mean...we raved about this food for a week and my boyfriend and I are already planning a day trip back to South Haven for the Waldorf Burger he won't stop talking about. I had the pierogis and they were absolutely out of this world. Everyone was so happy with the meal, the service, everything...and did I mention they didn't have power to the computers almost the whole time?! We wouldn't have known at all!! The stars are for the food only. That was fantastic. However the staff was terrible . Our waitress smelled like a mixture of cigarettes and weed and any question we had about the menu or drinks she "wasn't sure". I would recommend going for the catch of the day and the portobello fries, just don't expect much from the staff. read more

Good beer with good beer food. Took two kids and they had menu items that they could eat and enjoy. Got the monster burger (burger patty between two grilled cheese sandwiches) and it was pretty good... although with that amount of cheese I don't know how it could taste bad. Oops. Wanted to take a pic of my walleye dinner but it was amazingly delicious and all I have left is an empty plate South Haven was in need of culinary excellence and Kitchen 527 is it. Rosemary fries cucumber martini is perfect after a warm day. My teen daughter is a bit picky but said her burger was great. She noticed the difference between this hand formed patty and others. Friends who used our house last week had several good experiences so we decided to try it tonight after calling 2 other places who wouldn't do carry out because they were too busy. Talked to Jamie, who said they don't normally do carry out on Saturday nights but offered to if could place my order soon. I called back and Jamie cheerfully took our order. She even called me back to say my order was ready early. Our food was nicely packed up and still hot when we got it home. My salad was good and the other 3 people in my party had burgers they said were excellent. We were very impressed with the helpfulness, friendliness and food quality. This could become our "go to". Nothing against the food or drinks, the waitress was very nice but the management team should probably go read the "Customer service for Dummies" book. Threatening to call the cops on a group of moms dads and children for overstaying our welcome with half full cocktails still on our table and a tab of $850+ was comical. There was no time limit posted and the apparent imaginary 90 minute rule is still in effect if it takes you 80 mins to get your food. If your wanting dinner and a show or are in the mood for arguing perhaps this place is for you otherwise I'd try elsewhere. read more

The staff did a great job with our group of 12, including three under 10. We checked in around 6:15 on a Saturday night and had to wait about an hour for enough space to clear for our group. Well worth the wait. We were able to enjoy a free community music festival under a pavilion across the street during a downpour while we waited. It appears the menu changes on a regular basis but there are some staples. A couple of us ordered the Mac n Cheese that included grilled chicken and multiple cheeses. It looked great. Another ordered a salmon burger and loved it. The homecut thin fries were outstanding. I had the breakfast burger with an egg to order, bacon and cheese. Terrific. Excellent selection of local craft beers. They even had a Malbec on the wine list, which my wife considers the difference between good and great places. This was the first night in South Haven, so the bar was set high! We will most likely make it back during our stay. Highly recommend! read more

I have never been in this restaurant (ordered delivery from brewery across the street) but my sandwich was to die for as was my husband's burger. I just had the best dish that I have ever had in South Haven. I ran into a restaurant that I had never noticed before for a fast lunch after being my hair cut,and ended up with an amazing meal. It was on the dinner menu-roasted salmon with garlic potatoes and this curried spinach,the curry was so subtle but complex and delicious.Its dinner time and I am still thinking about my lunch! read more

Came here for lunch while vacationing in South Haven over the 4th! Was pleasantly surprised there wasn't a wait to be seated. We each ordered the build your own burger. Food came out quick, hot, and delicious! Mine was on the gluten free bun, and I must say it was the best GF bun I've ever had! Not cardboardy like most. The fries were excellent, lightly seasoned and shoe strings cut! The burger itself was 5 stars!! Excellently seasoned and so juicy! If we make it back to SH we will be back!! read more

We tried this delightful place over July 4th weekend. I would highly recommend it. We had the salad bar. Very fresh. Try the homemade blue cheese dressing. Can't be beat. We also are the smoked chicken wings. Whole wings (not just flats and drums) that were so good they did not require a sauce. We will be back there for sure. I am so stoked about this place! The food is seriously delicious, the menu innovative, friendly waitstaff and bartender, and the service top notch. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in late November. We were looking for a good leisurely lunch, but didn't expect to be surprised at mid-day. With few patrons to overwhelm the staff, not surprisingly, the service was attentive and quick. We enjoyed delightful almond old fashions and then a pretzel feature with a spicy cheddar cheese spread - an unexpected eye-popper, and certainly recommended. Then came the entries: * a salmon on a bed of potato and parsnip pureé with sautéed spinach on top; * a half-dozen perfectly sautéed scallops soaked in a blackened mushroom sauce. We were totally flabberghasted. The palette was exceptional. It was not difficult for us to compare this cuisine (favorably) with one of the finest in Chicago, having dined there two nights before. Highly recommended! In short, the food and drinks were elegant, even if the decor is modest. Hey, this is a neighborhood bar/restaurant with a rustic feel to it (and lots of impressive art photographs on the walls). This is the perfect place to run in for a quick lunch when shopping in downtown South Haven MI. Service was great and very fast. I got the Daily Special macaroni and cheese with mushrooms and bacon. My husband and I came in earlier this week for dinner. We were one of two couples in the restaurant. He ordered the Southern Grilled Cheese sandwich. I had one of the "specials" for the evening; a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque. The soup was fabulous. Both our sandwiches were "grilled" on the big flat grill. Both of our sandwiches had a taste of rancid grease on the bread and the cheese on my sandwich, wasn't even melted. It was 67 degrees outside and despite that the a/c and fans were going full bore inside the restaurant. I asked our server if she could make it a bit warmer since it was freezing inside. She turned off the fan, but said she was not allowed to touch the setting on the a/c. Additionally, the music was so loud, we could barely carry on a conversation. Clean your grill every.single.day!! A hole in the wall type restaurant but it has good food. Most of the tables seat 10-12 people so if they are busy you may not get a private table. I ordered the 1/2 lb blue cheese burger medium temp . It was Cooked to perfection & accompanied with shoe string fries. I liked it but not much different than any other good burger. My wife ordered the Mac & cheese with asparagus & broccoli with cream sauce and a tad of barbecue sauce. She ordered the lunch size and it was a huge portion. The server was right on top of her game and she took very good care of us. I would recommend this restaurant as I viewed other meals being served and the portions were very large and everyone seemed happy with their meal. I have never posted a restaurant review ever before. But after eating at kitchen 527 Thursday evening I felt I had to say something. Without a doubt this was one of my best dining experiences ever. Everybody was extremely friendly and helpful . We ordered the mussels and they had to be the best I've ever had at any restaurant. The mahi mahi was the special of the night and it was extremely good. The presentation was great and The Vinaigrette was perfect not too much just enough to complement the fish. Tried out this cute restaurant for lunch. The service was a little slow, but the food more than made up for it. I had a turkey sandwich and my husband had a burger. Both were terrific. The fries reminded us of Steak and Shake but had a unique seasoning on them. The best part? Grateful Dead playing the whole time we were there! read more
