Subpar visit, not surprised. I normally do not frequent Kitchen67 because the whole experience is typically awful, but I gave in to friends who wanted ribs and tonight's visit was another level of disappointing. Upon entering the restaurant and turning to go to my table I was greeted with a floor that transitioned from ok to feeling like it was coated in vaseline, and others in my party experienced the same. This has also been an issue on prior visits. When asking the hostess about it, she was completely blasé and just said "it's been this way since I started". Upon sitting at the table we were then greeted by a disgusting ancient iPad that had very obviously not been cleaned and was covered in greasy fingerprints along with food particles under its stand. It took staff far too long to get their act together on sending us a server and when she came by she was wearing a mask that looked like its sole job was to catch drool, not prevent the transmission of a communicable disease. Her service was also lackluster. She would fly by the table and fly away so fast before we could even express what we needed (salt & pepper, napkins, silverware, rolls, none of which were brought without prompting). Then when our food arrived, my quesadilla had barely any ingredients other than cheese inside and it was stone cold, as was the other quesadilla at our table. We also had probably 4 different staff people bringing things to the table because the server was inconsistent and generally unavailable. There's word out on the street that the Brann family is prone to cut corners in their establishments and this is another reason I do not frequent any Brann's restaurants. If this is the experience out in the restaurant, what is my food being subjected to before it comes out of the kitchen and to my table? I understand COVID-19 has caused a decrease in quality help and times are tough, but they need to do better! They've been in business far too long for these sophomoric fumbles. If it's a management problem, fire the managers and get better help from people who care about the experience from the ground up. It's nice they are open for people right now, but until they improve the experience, I will not return, and I'll share this experience with anyone who mentions the restaurant. I certainly don't want my friends, family, and coworkers to have this experience! read more

I think the bar should have a little more help, there was only one bar tender serving the bar and the restaurant. Other than that , we all had an enjoyable time. I had the hangover burger and can honestly say it was the best burger I've ever eaten. I also got the 67 cooler and for a strawberry basil lemonade, it should probably have a hint of basil in it-couldn't taste it at all. Someone in my party ordered a vegetarian burger with gluten bun and said it wasn't edible at all. But I'm going 5 stars bc my burger was insane! Friendly staff too! read more

I sat at the bar to eat by myself . The bartender was great helping me choose a good beer. However, the Dip part of French Dip was like salt soup. So - to avoid sodium shock - I didnt dip at all. This one pains me... I've always enjoyed this place until lately. I came in for the prime rib and cocktails. The prime was good not great. Service has been less than acceptable for a place like this. No experienced bartenders and a bunch of un motivated kids trying to handle the place. Looks to be one manager on duty but he seems as lost or overwhelmed as the kids do. I ordered an old fashioned after my meal and received some weird ginger beer, cherry and whatever else kind of drink. I asked the bartender what he made me and he stated it was their cherry old fashioned. I politely referred him to their own menu and showed him that it's bourbon, bitters, muddled fruit and cherry. After consulting management he came back and told me that was the only way they knew how to make the old fashioned. Lol. I just let that one go and settled for a bourbon on the rocks. I also ordered the martini brownie sundae because of it having vanilla bean ice cream. The sundae comes out and it's fine for what it is it's just French vanilla ice cream instead of vanilla bean. Would be no problem if it said that on the menu. I would've saved my 6 dollars lol. Have still not received a water that I ordered first and again with my meal as well as once more with dessert. Uggh. They're struggling and it's just sad. This place used to be a favorite of mine. My rating should be a 1 but I have so many great experiences I'm drawing on previously that I can't rate it that low. read more

A first for me happened after my last review of Kitchen 67. The owner Johnny Brann Jnr. contacted me to discuss my review. This caused slight terror in me. Was I going to get shouted at by a restaurant owner for a review!!?? Eek! Thankfully it was nothing of the kind. Mr. Brann really appreciated the feedback, the review had been forwarded to the staff and we discussed the review and the restaurant for about ten minutes. I received a voucher and an invite back for my trouble. I have to express how fantastic it is that an owner shows so much care for his customers and takes on board their comments and took the time to contact me. Johnny Brann Jnr gets 5 stars for being a great owner. So after a busy week of work mixed in with minding an active and curious 1 year old and an even more active and curious puppy, we decided, after my wife spent the morning cleaning and I spent the morning puppy and baby minding, we 'd use the voucher as a reward for a productive Saturday morning. The hostess finds us a booth and Josh, our waiter, gets us started with drinks. He's carefree but genuine. Which is nice to see from a waiter. We order the dirty blue wings again to start us off and then the All The Way burger for me, Pretzel burger for Reagan my wife, and toddler gets a grilled cheese sandwich from the kiddies menu. The games on the I-Pod are a nice distraction for toddler. The dirty blue wings hit the spot. They were as good as the first time we got them. The sauce is so tasty, a combination of buffalo sauce and bleu cheese and is plentiful. The wings almost cooked to perfection. They are gobbled down. The All The Way Burger is as impressive, with American and cheddar cheese oozing out of it and some deliciously cooked onions with mayo and bacon to seal the deal. Reagan's pretzel burger hits a home run too. Toddler's grilled cheese has that same oozy cheese the All The Way burger has. We have dessert, the Mickey Mouse, two small cinnamon covered elephant ears with vanilla ice-cream, chocolate sauce and some chocolate brownie. The brownie is to die for. I mean, I could lick the plate. The elephant ears are a little hard to break with a spoon but are very tasty. In between appetizer and entrée, word gets around we're the Yelp reviewers. Our previous waitress comes over to say hello, and is all apologies about our previous experience. I kind of feel bad about this, our previous experience wasn't awful, our food was over cooked and that's about it. She seems very nice and genuine and I hope I didn't get her in trouble. We say to her the food wasn't her fault. Then we get greeted by the kitchen manager. It's really nice of the staff to make such an effort, as I say I'm a little embarrassed. All I can give in my reviews is an honest account of the experiences we've had. I would urge anyone who is thinking about going to Outback, Applebees, TGI Fridays or is looking for a place for a reasonably priced quality food to check out Kitchen 67. The food is by far a higher standard. It's genuine food. There's heart and care put into it. Also, I'm sure if I'd given the Outbacks and Applebees of this world 3 stars they couldn't care less. Kitchen 67 made every attempt to make up for their inconsistency. Something I applaud them for. We'll definitely continue to be regular visitors to Kitchen 67 even moreso now. 1 appetizer, 2 mains, 1 kiddies meal, 2 drinks and a dessert was only $40. read more

My family tried Kitchen 67 after months of passing it on the Beltline and thinking, "Let's save it for a special occasion!" As chance would have it, we dined in on a weekday evening after a movie at Celebration. As we walked up to the building, we noticed some signage advertising specials on sliders and wings (that would have applied to the time/day we visited.) We were seated immediately and we inquired about the advertised specials with our waitress, who stated that they were not applicable on the day we dined. Ok, no big deal. We were struck by the tech-heavy and gimmicky interior-- it's like someone from 1998 designed "The Restaurant of the Future!" Our kiddo loved the iPad stuck to the wall of our booth. Her parents, however, did not. We don't own one and don't push a screen in front of her during family meals, restaurant or not. It was a 'special' treat to use it, but we spent more time reiterating our rules of using it and deleting the photo booth pics our child snapped of herself than we cared to. **A note to other parents- consider deleting the photos your minors take of themselves and others with those Kitchen 67 iPads BEFORE you leave. We saw a few tables-worth of old photos while deleting ours.** Our food was decent, but not overly inspired. We had a pretzel app that included the saddest version of beer cheese dip I have ever tasted. I had a pretty good (if not slightly overdone) burger with overzealously seasoned chips. My kid's "mac and cheese," however, was bland and tasteless, even for children's menu standards. One thing that we all did enjoy was the Elephant Ear dessert, but I am pretty sure we should have received it at the discounted Happy Hour app price and were instead charged full price for it. By the end of the meal and the continuous sensorial barrage of the music, electronics, and even the godforsaken ceiling, we just opted to pay the tab and leave, as the dinner rush was just beginning in earnest. Even as we were departing, the allure of larger-than-life tech managed to captivate our child once more (that hideous 5X iPhone/screen/game near the door.) We would never come back with our child. I might consider returning for cocktails/bar, but not for food. There are far better restaurants in town serving up--and delivering--the Michigan-made experience. read more

Huffin' About Nothin'! My son is currently looking to find the best burger in Michigan, according to his tastes. So when we heard that the Huffington Post listed a Michigan burger the number one 'Sandwich You Should Definitely Try Before You Die'; you know what we were planning to try next. Thankfully it was right in our town so we did not need to travel at all. With any review that I personally do, I always try to find something nice to say and yet remain truthful, so let's start at that. The most honest thing I can say about Kitchen 67's 'Bird in the Hand' is that it was not terrible tasting. That's all. That is the nicest thing I can say about it. Now, having said that, where do I start? How about with the complete idiot that wrote the attempt of an article that started this whole hoax. The more of the sandwich that I ate the more I thought that the person that wrote about it might have never even tasted the sandwich and just read reviews and tried to sound as if he had actually eaten in the restaurant or his taste-buds are dead, and no one has bothered to tell him. I'm going to guess that he has never even set foot in Michigan, let alone stepped through the doors of Kitchen 67 in his life! After reading the first three paragraphs of his attempt at journalism or being a food critic, he could not even have smelled the sandwich that he claims is "Fresh tender beer braised chicken, hand breaded using housemade Founder's Red Rye beer batter, heavy mayo, crispy lettuce ribbons, served on a caramelized buttery brioche bun branded with a '67' on the top." It's your number one pick and you only wrote one sentence sentence about it?!!! Please .... Yes, it is 'fresh' and 'tender', but the mayo is not 'heavy' nor does it bring any flavor to the sandwich at all. A chicken sandwich on the Dollar Menu of a McDonald drive-thru has more flavor than this sandwich. The fries that come with the 'Bird in the Hand' have more flavor than the sandwich itself. The 'Bird in the Hand' does not 'challenge your palate', unless the 'challenge' is to try to find a flavor to it. The 'Bird in the Hand' is not 'simple with a twist'; it is just so simple as to be the most bland thing I've ever eaten. The menu itself has more flavor than this sandwich! Water might have more flavor than this culinary canary! Two birds in the bush (that you have not eaten) are worth more than this 'Bird in the Hand'! For $7.99 you can eat a multitude of things that have more flavor than this piece of meat between two pieces of flavorless bread, mayo, and lettuce. I have no idea why this is even on the menu. Both my son and I have eaten at this restaurant before. The staff is delightful, everything else on the menu we have tried has been wonderful and well made and full of flavor, but eating the chicken that crossed the road, got ran over and blind-sided by the semi-truck being driven by Carey L. Poole and was lying out in the hot sun for days flat, has more flavor than this sandwich. If you were planning on making a trip to Kitchen 67, try anything else on the menu, or even the paper that the specials are on, then eating this bland sandwich that doesn't fly at all and falls flat on the platter that it is served on. Avoid it like you would any common piece of roadkill that you do not want to dirty your car with. The author that chose this should be forced to eat it everyday for a year so he can discover the subtleties to be found in a Saltine Cracker! Thank you Mr. Brann, but I do not need to change my rating, even though most of my review was a critique of the one sandwich and not the rest of your establishment, and I'm not looking for free 'stuff' nor do I wish any favors. To reiterate; the sandwich is flat and has little, if no, flavor. The rest of our experiences at Kitchen 67 have been delightful and the stars given reflect that. The article about the sandwich was totally misleading and is not the fault of you, or your wonderful staff, and I think most adults can realize that. I just do not give out four or more stars unless I'm highly impressed with everything about an establishment and would encourage others to look past this one sandwich and try everything else on the menu. Johnny Brann's own take on a bistro menu is flawless. On our visit, we ordered a western burger, a 6 oz. steak, and steak skewers. The burger featured seared onions, and a special blend of barbecue sauce on nicely cooked (Founders Pale Ale broiled) patty with a soft pretzel bun. The fries were good, but made better with New Holland blended ketchup, which was one of the greatest dipping flavors I have ever experienced. The steaks really stood out on this occasion. The Brann family has their steaks down pat, very flavorful and perfectly tender. You cannot go wrong ordering steak here. The atmosphere is clean and ultra-modern, and the service was above-average. Had dinner with friends before attending a theatre performance. Told our waitress when we needed to be on our way to make the show and she kept us right on schedule. I had the sizzles topped with shrimp with rice and a salad. Delicious! My SO had a salad topped with chicken as did one of our guests. Both said it was good. The other member of our party had the grilled, cheese mixed up with tomatoes and a cup of tomato bisque. She said it was very good. We didn't have time for desert but they have some interesting ones on the menu. The manager, who is also the chef, stopped by our table to see how everything was. Always a nice touch. Where to start. Place was nicely decorated and very clean. This is where compliments stop. Table in the bar area. Waitress was inattentive and there were long periods in between visits to our table and did not clear used dishes. They have a buzzer on the table to get wait staff but in my opinion, you should never have to use that. Salads were good. The wife ordered a sizzler medium. That came just in the warm side of rare. No biggie happens all the time. I ordered smothered steak and in the middle of eating it, I BIT INTO A PLASTIC RING THAT LOOKED LIKE A WASHER OF SOME SORT! Manager was very apologetic but damage was done. Comped my meal and have me a free steak for the future. Not enough in my opinion. That was really bad and could have done serious damage if swallowed. Arrived around 6, was told the wait was around 30 min, was closer to 45. Lobby is crowded for waiting. Finally seated in the darkest booth I've ever seen--seriously, I've seen brighter closets. The decor seems nice enough, but staff seemed very crowded. Appetizer was fine (pretzels), children's meal fine, wife said hers was ok. I got steak and shrimp combo, steak was cooked properly, but seasoned very heavily with seasoning salt. (I'm always suspicious of over-prepped meat.) I like anchovies, but my Ceasar salad tasted like smelt. In general, for the price, my meal should be "Wow! I want to eat this again!" and not "Ok." read more

There was a slight problem with my girlfriend's dish, but the manager went over and above to make it right. I almost felt guilty. Not used to such great service at a place in the price range. Great job manager! The prices are unbelievable! Great value and variety. I would have scored 5 stars if draft beer and happy hour was an option. As one reviewer stated, no this is not formal dining by any means, but an excellent alternative to the cookie cutter restaurants. Support local. Setting a new tone for the Grand Rapids sports bar has begun with Kitchen 67. To be honest I didn't think I would vote this restaurant above 3 stars when I decided to go this afternoon. I was very surprised when I walked through the door by two things. (1) the decor and (2) the service. I don't want to mislead you, this is not fine dining or even elevated dining by any means. Only 4 items on the menu were even above $10. This is not the place to go if you wish to be inspired by food or by a Chef's interaction with a menu. As a matter of fact, the burger I ordered was okay at best. My bacon was even refrigerator cold... unpleasant. However they won me over with the soft brioche bun. I really can't stand the gigantic, heavy buns which have been adding a further 2 pounds to every burger which have been the trend lately. Thank you Kitchen 67 for booting that mentality. What I can say is that the waitress was probably the best I've had at this type of restaurant in a good 5 years. She was perfectly amazing at keeping our party (11 people) stocked on drinks, orders, and even remembered what each of us ordered when the food came back out. The decor was energizing. Variable lighting kept the atmosphere electric and the l.e.d. displays along the ceiling created a techno/rave feeling that I enjoy in a restaurant of this sort. If its time to go out with the friends or have a cheap date I would choose this place over Applebee's, TGI Friday's, or any of those other cookie cutter fast dining restaurants in a heartbeat. read more

Kitchen 67 is our new happy hour go to- cheap yummy eats and drinks. The basil flatbread and $3.50 Tanqueray and Tonics made for a start of a fantastic weekend. Our server Alex was fantastic. Very knowledgeably, great timing, he didn't rush us at all. The decor is modern and fun with a cool LED ceiling and iPads to play with. Kitchen 67 also has TV's to watch the Tigers. read more

Chicken Sizzle Bowl: best stir fry that I've had in a long time! I recommend requesting a booth instead of table since they have extra tech features in booths only. (Qi cell phone wireless charging pad on the table + iPad). Food was excellent, but it would be helpful if the Host advised the difference of tech features when asking "booth or table?". Stopped here tonight for the first time. I have to admit, really enjoyed the atmosphere, the iPad at the booth, even the chilled spoon for the salads and finger bowl for the wings (nice touch!). Rolls were great, cinnamon sugar butter slightly over powering in flavor (but I bet it would be great on a baked sweet potato). Fries stayed warm and crispy. Would have enjoyed my salmon taken off the heat just a few minutes earlier. Glad we went at least once. Now on to other bistros in the area! read more
