Ordered online via Koa pancake house website. The website was easy to navigate and provided nice visuals and descriptions of the menu items. You scroll through the menu, click on what you want, and you can customize each menu item (eg, adding sauces, side order choices, cooking preference). Once you order, it prompts you to check out and processes the order through Square. Upon order completion you receive an email confirmation and text. Ordering was quite easy. Stars were knocked off due to the pick up. The email stated the order to be finished after 1035, so we got there at that time. However, our order was not ready for quite a while. read more

I do not give pancakes enough credit on breakfast menus, but these give me all the incentive I need to order them. They are SO fluffy and delicious, come in many different flavor options (my husband loves the Strawberry Cheesecake, I tried the Macadamia Nut for my first trip!), and can also be ordered in different quantities. The kids were over-the-moon excited about their pancakes that Koa made extra big for them. They were hot, fluffy, and delicious. The entire class and I gave them 5 stars for taste. I have to also say how much I appreciated the staff. I didn't realize there was an early morning breakfast rush and they took my huge order and made all that food quick enough for me to make it to work on time, even though they were slammed they were definitely very efficient. The advantage of having our tire patched next door was the wait- which we spent at Koa Pancake House! I don't make it to this location often but I was happy to be there today, and I'm always glad to see how busy they stay. Today I fought my urge to get my usual- the mochi waffle- and while I truly enjoyed the chunky monkey combination of banana, chocolate chips, and macadamia nuts I know I'll never stray again. I would fully recommend what I ordered, but the mochi waffle simply can't be beat. My breakfast was massive. Three large pancakes five sausage links and two eggs kept me full for the entire day! No regrets. Service was fast and friendly as always, and we paid just under $20 per plate for our pancake platters. One tip, they will give you a water cup if you ask. It's a busy place, but the tables are clean and the other diners are friendly. If you find yourself in Wahiawa before 2pm a visit to Koa Pancake House is a great idea. you can't go wrong, but my suggestion is either the mochi waffle or the vhin D'alos sausage omelet. read more

Came for brunch after a football game at Leilehua, and it was conveniently located right down the road. Right at the entrance is where you could order your food at the register, then they'll give you a number if dining in so they can bring your order to you. The food was not bad I guess. But compared to the other Koa Pancakes, the food was more oily and you could tell too just by looking at our plates after eating because it was drenched. Since we dined in, we had to find a table, but all the tables were dirty and smelled like wet rags. We noticed that the guy would use the same water and cloth to wipe the tables, it was kinda of gross. Always on time, never had anything messed up in the order, great customer service, and food is handled with care. I personally had experienced this type of work environment before in a previous job. In my opinion, they should work on treating their employees with more respect. Parking is limited. Food is delicious. Cleanliness not so much. You seat yourself and the beverages is self service which I didn't mind. They don't wipe down the tables after people uses them. The $2 upgrade for chocolate pancakes looked good. Tastes good with the accompanying 1 butter and 2 syrups that came in the package. One shoyu packet was included with the plastic utensils. I like over hard eggs and hubs likes over easy. I compromised and ordered over medium. Sorry feel like Scrooge, bah humbug cuz the broken egg yolk in the container covered up by the spam which made the egg yolk on the bottom of the spam did not sit well with me. My excited smile quickly turned upside down. Even though some people say it doesn't matter cuz it ends up in the same place, I became the Grinch today cuz eggs should not be served broken. Anyways, the one piece of Portuguese sausage, 1 strip of bacon and 1 piece of pork sausage were good. The vinagared meat I will pass. I will turned the eggy spam, broken egg & rice into pseudo tamago fried rice on my plate with a few drops of shoyu. Always look for the silver lining. I didn't love the Portuguese sausage but my husband was happy to eat mine. I also ordered a small pineapple juice which was fresh and delicious! I have no idea what happened to this place. It used to be amazing. The eggs Benedict had hard yolks. The red velvet pancakes weren't cooked and the batter, which was heavily died red, got on my clothes. They also had no icing, which is a staple of red velvet pancakes. They were like cake that wasn't sweet enough that was both undercooked and dry. Two dishes came out and those people were entirely done before dish 3 came out. Dish 4 eventually arrived. Koa Pancake House is where our old Dairy Queen used to be. So many great memories of the old Dairy Queen. Now that it's Koa Pancake House, we still frequent this restaurant. We love their breakfast. Everything always tastes great. On my last trip home, I had their traditional eggs benedict, my dad had their kalbi breakfast plate and my mom had their breakfast trio with pancakes. Our food was hot, not under cooked or overcooked. Everything was perfect. ATMOSPHERE: I like koa pancake house because it has a hole in the wall feel to it. It's cozy and clean and I really like it. It can get pretty packed but not too bad. Parking can be very limited too with lots of locals, military and tourists as well. I used to love this place, but three hairs are too much. Question: How many hairs is acceptable in/on or outside your food? Answer: NONE. We ate there today after frequenting Wahiawa Botanical Garden. My friend found a white hair in her Vindaloo omelet. A replacement was granted. The guy bringing the replacement was nice and it was a prompt replacement. My friend totally lost her appetite after that. Even with the replacement omelet, she couldn't get her appetite back. It was gone. Poof. We left the restaurant and I found a long white hair stuck to my bag that I placed on the counter table. What the hell. I came home and gave my son the take-out pancake I purchased. He told me there was a black wiry hair stuck to the outside of the syrup container. GROSS. They better start vacuuming the place!!! Luckily today was one of the good days. I wanted to test out their online ordering system and it was a good experience this time from start to finish. Online ordering process: Ease of use: 4/5 The website is simple to navigate and easy to use. Payment processing: 4/5 Apple Pay, Samsung pay, Google pay and other form of credit card payment is available online (did not see PayPal. Menu selection+options: 4/5 The menu asks how you want your food prepared and even has an option for "crispy" on certain food items for those who enjoy "crispy bacon" or "crispy corned beef hash",etc. It also gives you the option of how you'd like your eggs (even egg whites option for healthy eaters). They have added hash browns as a side (it used to just be the house potatoes) if you didn't want a rice or pancake option. It also has the option to leave out certain ingredients and like most sites a special instructions section at the end. Estimated Pick up time: 4/5 After confirming your order, it has a little time stamp stating they are "busier than usual" so wait times will be longer than usual. For example we placed our order around 8:38am and it said the estimated pick up time would be "anytime AFTER 9:50am. This would turn off many people not willing to wait. But at least they have the algorithm set to under promise and over deliver instead of being unrealistic with a 15min pick up time and making you wait another 30min when you arrive. Follow-up notifications: 4/5 We got our notification that our order was ready for pick up at 9:00am (not bad!) so since we live near enough we headed down there to see how accurate this pick up time was. You have email and text options available for notifications. Curbside pick up: 4/5 I suggest having a passenger hop out of the car instead of trying to park (the line here never fails to be long, wrapped around the building and inconvenient for all lol). You still need to go inside to pick up your order as if you had a phone order. The only difference is you paid for it and can grab and go (just go to the phone order counter, say you have an online order, grab your bag, and go). If you are the driver and had a passenger go in to pick up, it's enough time for you to make your way around the building as the driver or not even have to enter the lot depending how long the line is lol. But we were able to pick up our order quickly, bring it back home, and enjoy all by 9:30am! So overall, the online order process was successful: ordered by 8:38am, got notified around 9:00am, picked up without any issues around 9:20am, made it home to eat and enjoy by 9:30am. The Wahiawa location of Koa Pancake House is my absolute favorite! Not only is it a convenient location due to me living close by, but their food tastes tje best at this location. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Whenever I have family or friends visiting, I always take them to this particular Koa Pancake house. You get 3 generous pancakes drowned in raspberry sauce and topped with butter. They were the softest, yet stickiest, pancakes as if they were made with mochi. No syrup needed! Loco Moco -- You have your choice of meat and rice but decided to go with the standard, hamburger patty and white rice. Their brown gravy was outstanding; not overly salty but with just the right amount of savoriness and sweetness to complement the white rice and hamburger patty. The hamburger patty is tender and thick, so rest assured you will be satisfied with the amount of protein it offers. Macadamia Nut Waffle -- Ordered this waffle based on the amount of people who posted it but it was our least favorite of the meal. But they make good no frills breakfast food and have been doing so for a long time! My meal was fantastic, and you really get a lot of food for a pretty good price. I got the Koa Omelette with a side of banana pancakes. For the omelette, I loved it because it wasn't sopping wet when you cut into it (aka all the oil and juices didn't leak out). It was structurally put together and everything was cooked well. It had portuguese sausage, cheese, spinach, and mushrooms, and they didn't skimp on any of the fillings. THEY NEED TO UPDATE THEIR MENU ONLINE I called at 10:55a and placed my order. I was reading the menu on their website as I ordered. When I asked for the butter mochi pancakes they said it's only available as a waffle - so they need to update their website. 2. TIMING OFF - BY MORE THAN 30 MIN The employee told me it would be 10 minutes - which is awesome bc I'm a mom and had my kids in the car and I was 15 minutes away. I arrived to a long line of customers and proceeded to the "phone order" sign. There was a gentleman in front of me who asked what time I called. I told him 15 minutes with enthusiasm bc my food should be done. He told me he ordered 10 minutes ago so his food probably wasn't ready and he offered for me to go ahead of him but I insisted he go first. When it was my turn, it's now 11:20 - about 25 minutes since I called in my order - 15 minutes over their quoted time it would be ready, they told me my food wasn't ready. My kids were waiting in the car so I asked how much longer I would have to wait. "5-10 minutes." Okay, that's not too bad. The lady who rang me up told me I could wait inside since it was raining. 5 minutes go by and another employee sends me outside bc the restaurant was getting crowded. While I'm waiting outside more online orders and phone orders come to grab their food. One said her order was quoted to be ready at 11:25. She gets her food right away. My food was supposed to be ready around 11:10. Still no food. Finally it's 11:40 so I go back in to check on my order.. it's still not ready. I ask the employee what happened bc it's been like 45 minutes and I was quoted 10 minutes on the phone. He told me it was because red velvet pancakes take a long time??? Ummm lame excuse. I ordered one stack and only had 3 other breakfast items. Something obviously went wrong with my order - I don't know maybe they forgot to make the red velvet pancakes? Maybe they accidentally gave mine to someone else? I'm not sure but if they were honest about it, I would have given a higher rating. 3. MY FOOD WASN'T HOT :( The cherry on top is getting home to finally eat and the pancakes are perfect and piping hot, but my eggs Benedict- which was at the bottom of the bag and probably sitting out waiting the longest - was luke warm and kinda soggy :( Their food is delicious and I will be back, I just hope the owners update their website and my food is ready on time next time.
