I've been eating at Kitchen Mouse since they opened and they have remained consistently delicious. I like all of the locations. My favorites are the vegan carrot lox bagel and the vegan huevos rancheros with the tofu scramble. The baked goods, coffee, and most other offerings are just as good in terms of quality and flavor. It's one of my favorite places to eat in NELA. It's almost always crowded when we go so we mostly do pick up. Non-vegans always like it too. It's cute inside and kid friendly. While it was pretty busy on a Sunday morning, we found a table easily and the food came out pretty quick! I got a Build Your Own Breakfast Burrito (with rice and beans, mushroom sausage, tofu scramble, pico, guacamole mash, and chipotle cream), and the chipotle crema was definitely the star of the show. My partner got the snickerdoodle pancakes and we LOVED them - they were not too sweet but had a great snickerdoodle flavor. Also loved that it was made from oat and buckwheat flour, as it felt like a lighter and more easily digestible meal than pancakes typically are. One of our friends got the Avocado TLT and loved it, while the other got the Blood Orange & Rose French Toast (current special) and it was also delish! They have vegan and vegetarian dishes that are so unique, colorful, and downright delicious!! After several visits, these are my favorite, must-try items: PSYCHEDELIC DAALIPOP- The red lentils daal is so savory and filling. The cucumber mint salad with the cilantro mint chutney was flavorful and refreshing. This is a great hearty dish! SOCCA- This dish has the savory chickpea pancakes, oyster mushrooms, and kale. If you're the adventurous type this dish is for you! I love oyster mushrooms so this was a win-win for me. The pickled red onion and fried zaatar chickpeas had a nice crunchy contrast to the savory pancakes. Unique and flavorful! TEMPEH REUBEN TOAST- This is one of the lighter dishes if you don't want anything too heavy. It has seared tempeh, cashew cream and caraway sauerkraut. It's served with a side salad. Yummy and delicious! Other perks: TOTALLY FAMILY FRIENDLY- they have a play area for the kids and one of the bathrooms have a diaper changing area with Bambo diapers. So earth-friendly! WATER STATIONS GREAT SERVICE TOPO a separate kitchen next door for grab n go sandwiches and desserts if you're in a hurry. They also carry novelty items. Downside is the parking. We came of a weekend for brunch, looking for something healthy. We were successful there, but weren't quite impressed by the flavor of the food. Of the two dishes we got, the Moros Cakes was the more tasty. Each cake is very similar to a falafel, but slightly more dense. These come with a chipotle cream and cilantro chutney, both added some robustness to the flavor and showing how a falafel-type item can be paired with something other than tahini or garlic sauce. The cilantro serrano slaw was fresh and light, but with a bite from the chili. The second item we selected was the Morning Glory Kale Bowl. The base is kale and rice, so the flavor comes in the chili lemon ginger dressing and kaffir lime added on top. The lime is strongly dominant, and I personally don't think it can act as the commanding taste. Neither of us thought that the seared shishito peppers brought anything to the bowl. read more
