Came here with a friend for a late breakfast/early lunch and decided to deviate from my favorite pancakes! I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which sounded so intriguing and unique. I have to say, I was not disappointed! I ordered it vegan with some tofu scramble and loved how the vegan cheese really melted into it. I also added a mushroom patty, which added an extra savory flavor and really enhanced the dish. It was great to get some extra protein in! My favorite part of the sandwich was the creamy chipotle sauce, which had a little bit of a kick to it! Everything was so well seasoned and really complimented one another. I ordered a mocha latte with oat milk, which was well balanced and just the right amount of sweetness. It gave me the energy I needed to take on the rest of the day! Met friends here on a Friday morning and easily secured a table. The we ordered at the counter and got our number. Water is self serve, so I grabbed some for us. Utensils and napkins are provided in a plastic beverage cup on the table. Had to raid an empty table for a couple napkins. I had the Avocado toast with tempeh for $16. It was good an a full meal. We enjoyed a leisurely conversation and only got a slightly annoyed side eye from the person feigning work on a lap top. Take that stink eye to the library. I always imagine these folks are wannabe screenwriters desperate for material scrapped together from bits of conversation. I order the the side of potatoes for the table (it's massive and you can pick your sauce) every time I go, and I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the mac and cheese. The chilaquiles are fire too. You truly cannot go wrong no matter what you order. I always bring friends and fam here when they visit L.A., and I wish they had more locations! Prepare to wait in line for a while. It's a super popular spot. It's order-at-the-counter, but it can take a bit. There are lots of pastry items in the case, assorted canned and bottled drinks, fresh juices, mimosas. I made the mistake of ordering the Buffalo Mac N' Cheese without reading any sort of the description and that's something I ended up regretting. I've had a whole lot of vegan Mac N' Cheese in my life, but this one consisted of brown rice macaroni, cashew cheese sauce, yams, collard greens, buffalo sauce, and dill cashew cream. Now, I take full responsibility for not reading the description but I still don't know why it wasn't just Buffalo Mac N' Cheese without a bunch of other crap thrown in. The Macaroni itself was solid enough, but the dish wasn't very enjoyable thanks to the other things that were thrown in there. Overall, I was left disappointed and probably won't be seeking this place out in the future. If you are looking for a vegan spot, the staff here was super friendly and the environment was great, so hopefully you have a better experience than me. read more

Upon entering, you grab a menu, look at the drink menu on their chalkboard and then place your order with the server. Then you get a number and you pick a table and the servers will give you your food. I always grab the breakfast tacos which come in a set of 3 with eggs, I am assuming cholula cream and veggies. They are very filling and I eat everything. Another is the chilaquiles and I am now craving chilaquiles - its delicious: look at the picture. And then the horchata latte - its tastes like authentic horchata which I loved. I would highly reccomending visiting if you are new to the highland park area. What a phenomenal spot! I came here with a friend after the LA Marathon and this place really delivered across the board! The Buffalo bowl was my favorite, but the smashed potatoes with the fresh dill sauce were also amazing as a side. It comes with your choice of one of their homemade sauces, I went with the recommendation for their Dill and had no regrets at all, it was my favorite sauce by far! 4.5/5 - Lemon Blueberry Pancakes: A very delightful pancake dish with a lemon whipped cream and blueberry pancakes. The blueberries were very fresh and the lemon cream was subtle, but a delight. It would have been nice to have some sort of syrup or compote, because it did feel a little dry, but overall still very tasty! 5/5 - Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie: A delicious & giant sea salt chocolate chip cookie. Came here to meet with a local friend since I was in LA for the day. I didn't realize that Kitchen Mouse had a larger restaurant front in addition to a bakery, and I found myself at the bakery first since that's where my Lyft driver dropped me off. I ended up getting a matcha latte with oat milk and a rosemary bagel with herb spread made with cashew. I was able to take everything next door to their larger restaurant, and my friend and I were able to find seating outside that accommodated her dog as well! My bagel tasted nice when warmed up and toasty! And I don't think anyone would be able to guess the cream "cheese" spread being vegan! Stopped by kitchen mouse cafe after an appointment i had close by. I want to start by saying that the actual cafe is really cute. I like the colors, artwork and all the plants they have. The staff were also really nice and attentive. It does get busy and you can see the employees hustling delivering food to the tables. Also, I should Of done my research before coming here. I didn't know it was primarily plant based/vegan ish. I normally steer away from food like that just because it's not my go to. Anyways i was already in line and hungry. I wanted to give them a chance right? So i ordered the chilaquiles and i was just not impressed. The cashew cheese was a flavor i was not use to nor could i enjoy. A friend recommended Kitchen Mouse, and I'll admit I was skeptical. Vegetarian? Would I actually enjoy it? The truth is, I loved it. If I could, I'd come here all the time. Plus, there's plenty of street parking, which is a bonus! When you walk in, the space feels warm and inviting, with lots of tables inside and plenty of natural light pouring in.
