Visited Kitchen Mouse on a whim (aka without reading any reviews) based on a friend's recommendation to meet them for breakfast there! While it was pretty busy on a Sunday morning, we found a table easily and the food came out pretty quick! I got a Build Your Own Breakfast Burrito (with rice and beans, mushroom sausage, tofu scramble, pico, guacamole mash, and chipotle cream), and the chipotle crema was definitely the star of the show. My partner got the snickerdoodle pancakes and we LOVED them - they were not too sweet but had a great snickerdoodle flavor. Also loved that it was made from oat and buckwheat flour, as it felt like a lighter and more easily digestible meal than pancakes typically are. One of our friends got the Avocado TLT and loved it, while the other got the Blood Orange & Rose French Toast (current special) and it was also delish! Overall, we loved the healthier food and enjoyed having delish food than was minimally processed! We will definitely be back for those pancakes! read more

Yelp Breakfast Club Badge... Mission accomplished in Los Angeles! It takes some planning to get a Breakfast Club Badge. First, the participants (at least 4 people) need to be Yelp friends online before checking in on their Yelp apps. Next, the venue should be in the "Breakfast" or "Breakfast and Brunch" category on their business page. Another criteria is that all of these need to be done before 10am. It was our pleasure to assist Shal from Seattle and her family with their Breakfast Club Badges! Kitchen Mouse was a great experience! I had a Soy Vanilla Latte (yummy) and a Jackfruit Crabby Cake Benedict (different and delicious)! We had luckily found street parking right in front of the restaurant. I fell for it. Never going back. Cute place close by that serves pancakes, what can go wrong? $18 plates serve up bland food with no customer service. The snickerdoodle pancakes were soggy and fell apart from all the sugar. The tempeh "bacon" was gross. The "huevos rancheros" need to be renamed because they set you up for a meal you expect but instead you get canned enchilada and pace picante sauce poured all over an egg, tortillas and cold black beans. My bad, next time I'll cook it at home. Oh and there is no service, you order, pay and are asked to tip at the counter. You get your own water and condiments from a bookshelf and they drop off plates to your table. Def does not warrant a 15, 20 or 25% tip as solicited at the register. read more

What a gem in Highland Park! My friend recommended it and I was so happy she did. The place felt very calm and inviting, with lots of plants everywhere; a very homey vibe. Most, if not all of their dishes were vegan and predominantly gluten free, but they do have the option to add eggs if you'd like. I ordered the Morning Glory Bowl and it was packed with flavor from the chili lemon dressing and cashew mint chutney. I loved the texture the brown rice added to this dish. I also ordered the House Pancakes to share and I would order these 1000 times over again; I crave them to this day! They are made with oat and buckwheat flour so its not you're average pancake, but it has so much flavor. There is a nuttiness to it and the maple syrup has a subtle yet distint flavor. Kitchen Mouse is a order, pay and then sit down establishment. We went during the week so there was no wait and our food came out fairly quick. Parking is street parking and there are a couple lots around the corner. I look forward to coming back to Kitchen Mouse and would recommend it to anyone in the area! read more

Trekked over to Highland Park to see a friend and she let me pick the place to eat. Kitchen Mouse had been on my list for a while because it was Gluten Free and had amazing vegan options, so I decided on here. Not only is this place SO stinking cute, the service and food was amazing!!! Their menu is huge and everything sounds so amazing. After 10 mins trying to decide, I chose the Morning Glory Bowl and it blew my mind. This sauce is life. They should sell it because I would 100% buy it. For starters, the wait on a weekend was absolutely atrocious... it was about 50 minutes standing outside in the LA heat before we even got to the counter to order. I've ordered online from Kitchen Mouse plenty and I've never had an issue with my orders taking too long on a weekend and that's including the delivery time! When we finally entered through the doorway the ambiance was cute, home-y, and welcoming. The staff were kind enough, however the prices have *significantly* increased since my last time eating here. I mean SIGNIFICANTLY. We ordered two egg sandwiches, two coffees, and an orange juice that I had to cough up $75 for. I nearly fainted (both from the price and standing around for almost an hour waiting to eat). Overall, the food was subpar for the cost. At those prices I better receive the best egg sandwich I've ever eaten for $18 + some change to add mushrooms and the sandwich was far from it. Two measly thin slices of bread, a dollop of chipotle, thin egg, and some wilted arugula... I mean c'mon, guys. The orange juice didn't taste all that fresh squeezed either. If you have $75 to shell out for a meal you can find elsewhere for better, go for it. BUT NOT I, ever again. read more

i have been a loyal costumer for several years since they opened. i am so beyond disappointed with them and how their portion sizes have changed. this salad was too small even to be an appetizer, running me 18 dollars. The food is great, but am appalled at the customer service. If you want food fast or even within an hour of ordering do not come here. As a recent new neighbor I was disappointed beyond belief. After waiting over an hour for a To Go Order, we never got three of the items we ordered. I understand a kitchen staff had called in sick but we saw several groups of people who ordered after us eat their food and finish before we got our order. What a cute spot! There is plenty of seating inside and out, and the decor is colorful and cheery. Service was friendly and I ordered the falafel wrap and an adorable mini cupcake to go. While I waited, I browsed the unique gifts in their adjacent shop. The falafel wrap was really flavorful with mint, greens, tomato, cucumber, pepperoncini, hummus, tahini, and dill cashew cream and had a bit of a spicy kick to it, which I liked. I was told the cupcake was vanilla, but it turned out to be carrot. I didn't mind, as I love carrot cake without raisins. From an omnivore perspective: Ordered Mikey's Chilaquiles, kept it vegan with a tofu scramble. It was absolutely bursting with flavor, textures, and overall an incredibly filling meal. I would 100% order it again. I also tried their house pancakes made with buckwheat. The buckwheat flavor is subtle and the toasted coconut flakes added a nice touch. I love this place. One of the best veggie cafes out there. The owners and worker seem really nice and happy to be there. The food is great and offers variety and vegan options. I've done too good to go with them several times and it's always the best! I've also had lunch there full price and it's so worth it. Absolutely delicious. This place has brought me a newfound liking to vegan food. Supposedly this restaurant is always busy. This was pre-COVID. Now it's actually pretty easy to order. You can go inside or order through their website. For lunch I ordered the spicy portobello sandwich. It was so good. The mushroom kind of acts like a meat replacement, but in a healthy sustainable way. The bread was soft, crunchy, and added so much texture to the meal. The spice is very tolerable. nothing spicy at all, just a little added kick. I definitely see myself ordering from here again, trying out more amazing dishes. read more

Lovely charming cute place. Lots of greens in both the look of the restaurant and the food. Avocado TLT -- "TLT" for Tempeh Lomatoes Toast? The tempeh was really good but wish there was more. It's a simple dish but composed quite well! Though, I wish the toast was more special or thicker? Millet and flax toast sounded interesting for sure, but it tasted like a normal thin piece of wheat toast. What took my friend and I for a surprise was the salad with the toasted sunflowers -- quite amazing! Morning Glory Bowl -- I love kale salads but there was something in this dish's taste or scent that was silghtly off-putting for me.
