Grilled eggplant, babaganoush, mozzarella, hummus, sweet peppers
    Barbi B.

I've been here 3 or 4 times and I'm always surprised that it's not more crowded. Always space to sit even though it's not a huge place. They have so many menu options, breakfast, lunch and specials. The Whole Bird is an absolute MUST as well as the breakfast sandwich on the biscuit. Their freshly made bread is perfection. I had the grilled eggplant sandwich which was INCREDIBLE. The hummus was especially pleasing. I do always find the popcorn side a little odd, but there's nothing really wrong with it.

    Meatloaf Sandwich

Kitchen Table is a bohemian style cafe in the heart of downtown Omaha. While it isn't the typical Midwest cafe, it is a relaxed, welcoming mom and pop eatery with hand crafted vegan friendly or more traditional diet fare. Big street facing windows, rustic wood and metal finishes, and lots of plants and lights make the atmosphere very homey and inviting. KT uses a fast casual order at the counter approach. Staff are friendly and tend to you after your order and receive your food. I enjoyed the meatloaf sandwich ($14.50) which comes with their unique side of seasoned popcorn. The sandwich includes meatloaf, cheese, sauce, and pickled vegetables. I think I would prefer traditional pickle chips but the was okay with pickled carrot slices. Regardless, it was a very tasty although messy to eat sandwich! It was served nice and hot, which revived me from the cold Omaha wind! The side of popcorn generally paired well with the sandwich, especially for texture to sprinkle on top of each bite. As constructive criticism, it would be better if the popcorn was more freshly popped and maybe consider changing up flavor of the seasoning on the popcorn. The house seasoning for the popcorn was very similar to the flavor of the sandwich. I think a more contrasting or complimentary seasoning flavor would have been better.

5 years later, not too much has changed from this quaint downtown eatery. It's a very cheese forward menu, and not my favorite cuisine types, but I was able to find a meal I liked. I got the pulled pork sandwich and hummus plate. It was good! It was a little wetter than I preferred, but I Did enjoy the kraut sauce. I love their popcorn sides and the hummus was good. the menu changes seasonally so always something new to try.

On my drive from Ohio back to Los Angeles, I stopped at several restaurants on the way and this was, by far, the best I don't normally eat grits. Never liked them as a kid. These were amazing. I was skeptical at first. The place looked a bit "granola," which in my experience, means bland. But I saw a couple brothas picking up to-go orders which put my mind at ease. The service was great and the people were amazing. 9/10

Did not even notice the popcorn till I had the sandwich.

Well, the reviews are correct, this place is awesome for biscuit breakfast sandwiches! So fresh, so tasty, and has huge portions. A must if you are in the area. I was visiting from DC and can't wait until I'm back in Omaha again. Service was super friendly and kind.

    Grilled Cheese Tomato Soup combo

I was excited to try Kitchen Table, but sadly I don't think I would go back. I think it was kind of expensive for what we got. I got the grilled cheese with tomato soup and my boyfriend got the wagyu beef hotdog sandwich. I felt like the grilled cheese was missing something and wish the soup was creamier. My boyfriend said the hotdog sandwich wasn't anything special. These both came with a side of seasoned popcorn. We weren't a fan of the popcorn and with that being the only side, I would've expected the meal to be a little less expensive. I got their house kombucha which was my favorite part of the meal. It was cute in the restaurant, I liked the vibe and the service was very nice! Overall, I wouldn't go back. The food was alright, but nothing I would crave or seek out again- especially for the price.

The sandwiches were so delicious! Came in on a Saturday morning, strolling around the neighborhood and we were in the mood for sandwiches - saw this place and we decided to try it! Ordered an all day egg breakfast sandwich, and it was super scrumptious! I have to go back and try it again, because it was just that good! The popcorn the sandwich came with was incomparable to any popcorn I've ever had in my life! The service was great, you seat yourself and they deliver the food to you! The restaurant had some fairy lights up inside and made for a calm, mellow feel. 11/10 would go back!

    Salad with beets and tofu

I always take my sister out for lunch for her birthday, and this is where she wanted to go this year since she is eating healthy and they have a lot of good options. We got there after the lunch rush, placed our order at the counter, paid, and got a table. We got the deviled eggs as a "snack" or appetizer, and I ordered the all-day egg & cheese sandwich while my sis got some kind of a salad w/ beets and tofu. Maybe we were just really hungry but it seemed like we were waiting for a really long time. We thought perhaps they were hard boiling the eggs for the deviled eggs first? The eggs came out at the same time as our meals not in advance. My sister seemed to like her salad and I did enjoy my egg sandwich although it was a bit messy. It filled me up for the rest of the day. I did not care for the popcorn that came with it on the side. It tasted a bit stale and chewy and I didn't care for whatever the spices were. It was a really cute place in the heart of downtown. Our server was new (less than a week) but very friendly. I would eat here again but I probably wouldn't go super out of my way to do so.

I have always walk by this place and wanted to tried, and finally after a lot of times walking by I decided to give it a try. The space is bigger than I was expecting and it was nice to be able to see them cooking the food while we waited. The food was just alright, it felt greasy and it felt overpriced. Maybe this is because the whole farm to table concept, but I am not sure what I got what's good for the price. Additionally, I was ready to get popcorn instead of fries but I was not expecting to received stale popcorn.

    Pineapple turmeric kombucha

I went with my son around 1:30 on a Saturday. I got the patty melt which, admittedly, I've probably had a hundred times. But, somehow, their implementation of simple ingredients is always excellent. For example, I don't normally like mustard. However, I had it on the patty melt because their flavor profiles are always on point. I had their meatloaf sandwich years ago and I don't like ketchup normally but it was amazing. Ever since then, I will always trust them. I digress. My son got the biscuit and jam and honey and a side of bacon. All of this seems pretty standard. However, each thing was truly excellent. Flaky biscuit with the perfect amount of softness and firmness. Wonderfully cooked and thick bacon. No notes. I also had the pineapple turmeric kombucha (it's on tap!!!!) which I almost didn't get but I'm glad I did because it was amazing: nicely (but not overly) sweet with a little earthiness. Last thing to notice, all of the workers are always working on your food diligently. It truly makes me feel like they live up to the reputation of "slow food fast". Side note: I finally got some Aksarben's to go yesterday and ate them for lunch today. Do not sleep on them! They come with house made kraut, ketchup, and mustard. They are truly excellent. I always go there if I'm in the area.

It's a nice small restaurant with quite a few breakfast and lunch options. Based on the menu, it looks like they have more sandwich and salad combinations, along with their free popcorn that they serve with most meals. When you enter, you go up to the front to get menus yourself. Once you are ready to order, you go up and order and pay. They then deliver your meal to your table. I have seen people get free refills for coffees and teas. Parking is also available in front of the restaurant, however it is metered parking.

    Sofrito quinoa bowl
    J G.

Wow! Had the sofrito quinoa bowl here and it was out of this world. So happy to find a delicious healthy plant based option in the area that's not too rich like Thai or Indian food. The bean soup also was tasty. All the staff very friendly. I came back immediately and would opt to come here everytime I'm back in Omaha. Vegans or non vegans I highly suggest the sofrito quinoa bowl and adding hummus on the side as well!

    Breakfast biscuit with popcorn.
    Jesse T.

Got a big biscuit with like 2 scrambled eggs and cheese on it. Came with a side of seasoned popcorn. Atmosphere is chill and the service is easygoing. Coffee is good, but ask for sugar and cream is that's your jam.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

We each ordered a glass of wine and they didn't have that one, so he upgraded us at no additional charge. The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.

The hostess felt the only recourse was to point me to a sign which I wasn't sure where it was because it didn't matter at this point, she stated her policy. I kindly referred her to the online info, and pulled the info up for her. We drove to dine and again, to create a future customer the choice was to instead decline and send us away. She did ask if he was a service animal but was not gonna take that away from a true service animal. Hopefully this place makes the needed corrections and unfortunately our experience will be how this was handled. Yes, I see the follow up from the restaurant and our decision to not return seems fit based on the "Owner" response. Good customer service would have been reflected in the response acknowledging more than just how "Frustrating" it was for us. No, being truly sincere would have been we appreciate your business and apologize for the inconvenience. Please here is 10% off your next meal or dessert is on us, please come back. We certainly don't care about the 10% but it's about the true understanding and apparently this is not the goal of the "owner". The effort as such would have prompted us to give another try. With the lack of effort to even bring a customer back speaks volumes. 2026 Omaha made changes for restaurants regarding pets and the disregard to an error and the drive we made apparently holds little to this establishment.

I think they open at 5, so I told myself I'd come back at 5 and I actually did. The food was really good, you can tell from the picture lol. The service was great and everyone was super nice. The place looked nice too. It would've been better if the curtains were open though. I like when the sun hits my skin when I sit by the window.

Actually, we enjoyed our meal and service so much we had dinner there twice. First off, the restaurant is really well designed inside. It's a really contemporary space with a great vibe. The service is exceptional (for dinner) and they go out of their way to take care of their guests. Then comes the cocktails, which were also quite excellent. And they have an extensive (VERY extensive) wine list! Impressive. The food is also (mostly) excellent. We dine in fine restaurants all over the world from Chicago to Paris to Tokyo and London and the food here was top quality, prepared exceptionally, and really delicious--largely due to their wood fire oven. I hadn't seen an oven like this since Grant Achatz's Roister/Fire in Chicago. I was very impressed. We started with Wood Fired Oysters, which were delicious. Their house corn bread and honey butter were also quite good. I normally don't care for corn bread but this was a really nice accompaniment. My wife and I shared the ribeye and truffle cava mac and cheese. Both were very good. On our second dinner we had Omaha Farmer's Board, a very good charcuterie and meats appetizer. But the Ricotta Agnolotti was our only complaint to this truly exceptional restaurant. The pasta dish felt like it was trying too hard to be fancy. A parmesan foam on top was cold, brining a nice hot dish down. The overall look of the plated dish was "overfull diaper." Not appetizing. The creme brûlée was very good. Overall, highly recommend this place as a steakhouse with an incredible wood fired grill. This place should be busier than when we went, to be sure. It deserves attention and it deserves to be recognized as one of the top restaurants in Omaha.

We were excited to give it a try but ultimately left disappointed. We started off with the charcuterie board appetizer. It was visually appealing but for the $24 price tag we all agreed it was alright but not something we would get again. Unfortunately our steaks also came out not at the temperatures we had requested. Sadly our service was another low point. This was surprising since the restaurant was fairly empty. Despite the majority of the gorgeous interior having empty tables, we were seated next to a dirty rag/silverware station rather than the beautiful empty booths while walking to the bathroom. Our server was hard to find and we had to repeatedly ask for simple things such as water refills. To top things off, there was zero music which felt quite awkward. For a bill that totaled over $350, we expected a much better dining experience. With the abundance of restaurants in the area, I would not recommend Monarch.
