The service at the counter was very kind and the outdoor picnic table seating made for a very comfy atmosphere; it was nice since I went here with family for brunch. I ordered the Mushroom Polenta. I loved the bold flavors, good balance of textures and the portion sized was pretty good (it was pretty big in my opinion, very filling!). I did feel that the soy sauce was only slightly overpowering/salty for my tastes since the polenta soaks all of that up (meaning it'll primarily taste like the most potent ingredient) and it's mixed with bacon, but you do still get that good mushroom flavor coming through. And then that runny egg helps to balance out as well! You can never go wrong with a runny egg. :) Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. Hubby had chilaquiles and liked that the chips were still a little crispy ( as is traditional!) he said it was really good. I can't comment on food because the staff was so incredibly rude! My husband and I were waiting outside waiting for the restaurant to open. It was opening in 5 minutes (at 8am) and a girl came out to tell us they don't open for a few hours. Then another guy comes out and yells at us "we don't open until 8!" I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! We absolutely love the posole Verde here. The green sauce is to die for. We also really love the Crq' with egg! I honestly can't say enough good things about that from how perfectly everything is paired from the cheese and the mustard seeds to the bread and especially the ham. Beautiful well-rounded breakfast that I truly feel will blow your pallet away. If you get the chance to get the banana pancakes don't think twice do it. The caramelized banana is unbelievable. Every little pastry you can get from here is one of the best you can get around! Templeton really got lucky with this gem of a cafe. I was excited to try this place based on the reviews. I called to place a to go order and nobody answered. On the third or fourth attempt, someone picked up and quickly hung up. Ahhhh!! This place is so freaking GOOD! I don't know how I didn't make it in here sooner. Absolutely adorable restaurant in Templeton. My boyfriend and I stopped in here a week ago, and came in 3 times the same week. Although we've quickly realized everything there is good, I'm soooo obsessed with the açaí bowls and the chocolate croissants! Ask for the croissant warmed up, you won't be disappointed. So I've eaten here 4 times and now and have found the menu to be hit and miss, but for the most part pretty good! My second two visits here I had the fried egg BLTA and it was AMAZING! so delicious and the brioche bun is to die for! My friend had the ricotta pancakes which were also really yummy! My fourth and most recent visit here was with friends, I of course had the BLTA (but was a little disappointed that my egg was over cooked so the yoke wasn't runny like it had been the last 2 times I'd tried it), my friend had the polenta which I would definitely pass on, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. My other friend had the special which was a fried chicken sandwich, it was REALLY good! All in all I would recommend this place, (especially the fried egg BLTA, you won't be sorry!) but I don't think I'll become a regular here because with steep prices like theirs it's not worth it to try new things when the menu is so hit and miss. read more

The Mrs. and I had breakfast this morning at Kitchenette on our way to Monterey. We arrived around 8 and the place wasn't busy. We looked over the menu and placed out order at the counter. I'm not going to even mention the food, which was good, but I will mention the absolute douchebag, a-hole, Richard Cranium that was taking orders. My wife asked for pastries and received a rather aggressive response from said jerk "I don't; have any today." Which, from reading other reviews, seems to be a common response from him. So I finished placing our order and we sat down. As we were enjoying our coffee, said jerk walked over and slammed our order tag on the table, which I didn't know we were supposed to take, and walked away. I later went to ask for a refill on our coffee, said jerk grabbed the mugs from my hands and sloppily refilled them. As other diners arrived, said jerk seemed to escalate his aggressiveness. One woman ordered two coffees, said jerk forgot one of them, then when she proceeded to tell him, he snapped at her like it was her fault. However, the worst incident was a woman placed her order and went to sit down with her party. She forgot her change and went back to get it. When she asked said jerk for it, he took the tip jar, turned it upside down, slammed it on the counter and told her, "Well....you walked away!" The lady was stunned as were many of the other people who witnessed the incident. What was really bugging me was the three guys working in the kitchen that could hear and see all this happening......and didn't do anything about it. What was it about this douchebag that kept them from saying anything? Was this "kid" the owner? Did he have some kind of relationship with the owner? It is obvious from other Yelp reviews, this SOB is a problem. There are plenty of nice people who need a job....and this clown still has his, WTF? read more

We got the morning glory with "turkey sausage, cheddar, hollandaise, scrambled eggs, house made english muffin" and a breakfast burrito with "bacon, potato croquette, guacamole, white cheddar, house made salsa, scrambled egg". The morning glory was a lot smaller than I expected, especially for $11. I described it as an upscale McMuffin from McDonalds (don't get me wrong, I love McMuffins). It was fairly simple and I added some black pepper for more pepper. Though it was decent, I would pass on this for $11. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito. I liked that the outside was crispy and I enjoyed the filling of the burrito. The burrito had a lot more flavor since it had guac, salsa and the saltiness from the bacon. You basically walk in, pick up a menu, order and pay at the counter, take the table number and pick a table. They bring drinks and food to you. We went in and ordered at the counter, no one took our card for payment even though we were standing there awkwardly for a while waiting. Finally, someone slid the utensils they put down closer and said "these are yours," indicating we should go sit down and stop hovering. We shrugged and sat down. When one of the guys brought us our drinks, he said, "you need to pay at the front" and left kind of rudely. Ok, fine so we go pay and all is back to a weird normal. The food, however, was totally worth it. BF got the ricotta pancakes which looked like fluffy pieces of heaven. He was thoroughly happy with his choice. What a gem on my way to SLO! The best brunch I have had for a while. The place is simple and you pay for your food, then sit on one of the ourdoors tables till the waiter bring you the order. The polenta with mushrooms was a must-try, if you like mushrooms at all. It was the perfect balance between flavor, nutrition and texture, making you feel like a child who's just had the most satisfying sunday brunch. The poached egg on top was also perfect. The sauce was thick with umami from the mushrooms and I'm guessing, caramelized onions and red wine? The latte was so so but warmed me up for sure. I was very happy hiking for hours afterwards.
