Great option for BROILED fish take out. The store is in a strip mall and there is a large open area where you can place orders on the right as you walk in. If you call ahead, you can go to the left where the register is, give your name, and wait there for your order. The fish fry is a huge serving and includes cole slaw and fries. The broiled option comes with cole slaw and baked potato. Definitely call ahead to order since they have a huge take out demand on Fridays. The fried haddock comes with about 3 pieces of fish. The batter is tasty. The coleslaw is generously portioned and delicious. Would definitely order from here again. read more

This place is a great option if you're looking for some yummy fish! I can definitely get busy depending on the time of the year so I do suggest ordering an ahead of time but if you're not familiar with the menu then by all means planned a little extra time and go and wait in line so you can review the menu. The fish is crisp the french fries are crisp I'm not a big fan of the Mac salad or the coleslaw but that doesn't mean you won't be! A very disappointing meal. Heavy, oily and a very greasy mess that ended up soggy and not at all appealing to eat. Huge portions but I would rather have less food for better quality. Two employees were yelling back and forth with each other the whole time a large group of us were waiting in line. Wouldn't recommend Kithnos for any type of seafood meal. Expired canned goods on shelves for sale as well (Sardines that expired months ago). Isn't that against some type of food sale code? We've been trying different fish fry to make shelter in place more fun. I'd never been to Kithnos before. But it's my new favorite. Very reasonable prices. Great service. And yum! We loved the ample portions of the fish fry. Perfectly done. Flaky and lush. Not at all greasy. Sweet potato fries were a treat. Light and perfectly cooked. My son enjoyed the onion rings. Despite wishing they were a tad crispier he deemed the best he's had. The hush puppies were the icing on the cake. A treat. Flavorful and firm. Clams were so good that my kids ate them. The scallops were moist and full of flavor. I'm sad that I've lived in Rochester for so long and just found this place. And we called at dinner time on a Friday night and didn't have much of a wait. Run don't walk to Kithnos when you get a yen for seafood! read more

There are no frills here and you shouldn't expect there to be. The food is amazingly fresh, fast, and you get more than a normal person should eat at one sitting. My favorite is the fish fry, but the scallops were numerous big and amazing. They. Even retained that sort of slight sweetness that comes with scallops crabs and lobster. They also serve delicious hush puppies which I haven't seen too much of North of the Mason Dixon line. The owners and workers are blue collar heroes so don't expect a faux smile and over enthusiastic fake courtesy. They are genuine and friendly and they make amazing food for very cheap. So, we had to go to Rochester yesterday for a Dr appointment, so we decided to stop at Kithnos for some fish. This is our second visit here and we were not disappointed! First of all they were cognizant of the social distancing regulation and had the proper spacing set up. I placed our usual order, a Seafood Platter for me, and an order of Scallops, Clams and onion Rings for my wife. I also decided to try their FRESH Cod, since we had fresh Cod this past summer in Cape Cod and became instant fans of this amazing fish! Well as I hoped the food was simply amazing! Everything was hot, crispy and DELICIOUS! Since our visit to Kithnos is a 90 minute drive, we found a secluded spot in their parking lot and enjoyed our food while it was hot and fresh. Now about that piece of Cod... it was absolutely amazing! It way just as good as the Cod we had while visiting Cape Cod! Everything we had was just delicious, including the Coleslaw. I highly recommend Kithnos for any fish or seafood you may desire. It's worth the 90 minute ride for us, so if you are in the Rochester area, check it out!!! read more

I've heard from several folks that this place has the best fish fry in the city and holy smokes they weren't kidding! This is a no frills take out kind of place, I don't even remember seeing seating. Not only can you get take out but you can also order your pick of fresh raw seafood to take home and make yourself. I got an order of the fish fry with Cajun fries and the Mac salad for my husband and another order of the broiled scallops with a baked potato and Greek salad for me. The portion sizes are huge! The fish fry batter was buttery and crispy and delicious. The Cajun fries had a bit of a kick to them, they were awesome. They only give you one little package of tartar sauce so if you want more, you can get 3 packets for a dollar. My scallops were spiced with Greek spices and they literally melted in my mouth, that's the way scallops should be. My baked potato was just that, a baked potato wrapped in foil. No fixings, not even sliced. No big deal though, I just cut it up myself and salted and buttered it. Greek salad tasted fresh and wasn't overdressed and soggy. Overall great seafood for a great price, can't wait to try the other entrees. read more

We had dinner from Kithnos last evening and it was OUTSTANDING! The coconut shrimp was the best I have ever had and the fish fry is so big you can bearly finish it! The prices are fair and resonable which is important in todays economy. The salads, sides dishes etc. are excellant as well. Love going here during Lent (and a few other random times as well). Their fish fry is HUGE and so delicious! I also like that I can get mac salad instead of cole slaw on the side. My only complaint (which isn't even a solid complaint because it IS a seafood market) is that every time my fiancee gets home from picking our fish fries up, he smells like a big fish himself! This was my favorite place for fish fries for decades. No more. I was ignored by the lady that's there now and the male cashier. I placed takeout, I walked towards the counter she saw me and started to walk away and stood to the side . When she walk back over she stood there and ignored me and took other customers. I literally stood there 3-5 minutes the male cashier saw me and ignored me as well. Just an FYI - Customer Service is the lifeblood of your business. If it was possible I would give Kithnos a negative rating. Before I purchased the combo plate, I inquired about the number of scallops included in the combo plate. I was told eight. I received FIVE! There was more breading on the scallops than the actual scallop. The scallops were chewy, grey, and flavorless. Instead of battered fish, I requested breaded fish. The breading was so thick part of it was uncooked and the other part was chewy. The fish was so thin, it was difficult to find it in the breading. The french fries were limp and soggy with grease. The onion rings were all breading, the onion was so thin, I could not find the onion ring, and they too tasted greasy. The breaded shrimp was flavorless, and chewy. When I received the order, it looked as though there was a huge portion of food. However, in actuality it was all breading and grease. After eating the food, it was too late to call and voice my displeasure. I have had similar combo plates to go at other places, and this was the worst by far! To end on a positive note, although it was very busy, the employees were pleasant. read more

This place is the best seafood market ever! The owner and the staff are wonderful and kind. I came in on a Friday night at 7:45pm, just 15 minutes before they close and they treated me like gold! I couldn't make up my mind and they were so patient while I pick what I wanted, and then they cooked it for me. It was after 8pm by the time my food was ready and they were just great about it. Giving this place one star is being generous. A co worker recommended going here for some great fish. Like some of the older reviews written in 2014, a friend and I ordered several fish dinners from this place. I was kind of leery after walking through the door, because the smell of this place had me immediately thinking that the seafood is stale. The two men behind the counter were NOT the friendliest. Taking our orders home and out of the bags, we noticed the fish had an odor to it that was not a "normal" fresh fish smell. I didn't eat mine and gave my dog a small piece, which he threw back up. My friend's husband got an upset stomach. We called Kithnos to tell them about our experience, and all they offered was to cook us more fish. No thanks! Haven't been back since. read more

I went today 3/14/12 at 3 pm to eat a fish fry and some soup. He advertise that he makes the soups fresh everyday and when i ordered the soups, he takes them out of the freezer and heats them up. Then he gets the fish with his hand without wearing gloves!!! I asked him if he makes the soups everyday, just like his ad says and he tells me "dont think like puertoricans". Staying calm bite my tongue and proceed to tell him that i dont want the soup or the fish any more and to give me my money back very nicely. I came there today 12-29-2014.,.and the owner was rude., I ask for scallops and he ask "how much" I said I didn't know" what can you whip up for me " I noticed he had cleaned up 2hrs. before closing ., and it looked as if he was tired. Just like me., I own a business too., working monday to fri 6:30-6:30. And I don't treat my customer., they way he treated me., So me being me I didn't want him to dirty up the place., just to cook food for me., so i'm looking at his menu to say can you just wrap me up a pound of scallops. And as I turned to look at him to speak., I thought he turned to hackles and jackals., and said" are you going to order the scallops".!!!!!!!!!
