Walking through the streets of Skagway, we bumped into this place looking for a sweet snack. This reminded me of fluffy banuelos. You get a significant size portion that is intended to be shared (or if you don't want to share that's fine too lol). It's a fluffy fried dough covered in cinnamon and sugar. It's not greasy and it didn't last long. There's some tables and benches outside so that you can enjoy your Doughboy. But beware it is messy. read more

It must have been an off day, because we were not at all impressed with the fried dough, which was overcooked, cracked, and way too dry. Last year, when we came, it was fresh and beautiful, and absolutely heaven to bite into. This year was the very opposite of that. Very unfortunate. With the limited amount of options in Skagway, it was a pretty cool place to check out. The doughboy is honestly nothing really special. Fry bread covered in cinnamon sugar. How can that be bad? We also got a couple of local jams that we are excited to try. Good service too. We went there in the beginning of the cruise season so the staff was fresh and ready to deal with tourists. Obviously the main thing they got going is the Indian fry bread. I hate to say it's not on Alaska thing per se You can get these in the Southwest of the 48 or anywhere else but they've certainly were good and fresh! We were just starting our Alaska land tour and our bus driver and tour director said, "You must try Doughboys" , so we did! First off it has a steady stream of customers in line. But don't let that discourage you, You've got to go... The line moves quickly the cashier is as warm and nice as can be, taking cash or credit. She engages you in conversation, such as, where are you from, glad you came in. Small town friendliness that is missing most places. As the cashier makes the sale the Doughboy is being made, it's handed to you with a sugar coating that makes this flat bread delicious! It's large enough for two people to share. It was so good! We noticed they also served shaved ice, so later that day we went back for an afternoon treat. We had the same great service with different Staff. This small unassuming gift shop on a side street of Skagway has these absolutely amazing fried dough treats for only $6!
