I've known Daryl for many years now. He was at a different shop, but started his own, and took a lot of customers with him including me and my family. I was also very happy to meet him Ricky at Knudsen's as well. He is a huge help and extremely professional, polite, and does not give you a service that you don't need to get. The shop is methodical and detailed in their work, and stand behind it with a huge warranty. So far, I have purchased a full size spare tire with rim (360), rear break pads and rotors (350), and a transmission rebuild (6,000). All the work comes with lengthy warranty's attached, so I'm not stressed about the quality of work at all. I was referred to this repair shop by a friend after being told by the KIA dealership that I need about $1000 worth of repairs including the fact that my hoses were actually cracked. However at Knudsen's this was not the case. I do not need this done for another 2000 miles and the quote was a lot lower. I will definitely be back at this place for any future work on my car. I needed two new tires to match two new ones on a used vehicle I just bought. Darrell searched and found the only two in the state, one in Phoenix and one in Tucson. He had the one in Tucson shipped to Phoenix and had both ready to install the next day. I showed up at the agreed time and was out in an hour. Later that day the tire pressure light came on. One of the sensors died. Since it was on one of the tires they replaced, they installed a new one the next day for no charge. I just went in for tires but I overheard Ricky speaking to a customer about some mechanical issues. He really knew what he was talking about, obviously very well educated and practiced in mechanics. I was pleased to learn that this is a full service shop with very knowledgeable mechanics! Good to know. These guys earned my trust and respect. read more

If only negative stars were an option. I'm Frank, a traveling RN in Arizona, and this is my review of Knudsen's Auto in Phoenix. I visited Knuden's Automotive earlier this year on 1/27/2023 for warped rotors and paid $400 for new FRONT brakes & rotors which were covered under warranty. Within two months, my car started developing a pulsating sensation in the steering wheel. A month ago, Jack Furrier Automotive in Tucson, AZ noted warped front rotors during an Oil change and general inspection. I scheduled an additional appointment at Knudsen's Automotive for 7/31 at 0700 to get my FRONT rotor warranty. I arrived as planned. Darryl and the technician inspected the vehicle and said the front rotors were fine. I examined them, finding brakes at 8mm in good condition. The rotors appeared worn but not visibly warped from my perspective. The technician suggested other causes for the issue. The technician hinted that the back rotors might cause the shaking but at the cost of another $400. I left 45 minutes later thinking the front rotors were fine. Yet, the issue remained. On Saturday 8/5, I received a general inspection at Meineke in Surprise, AZ confirmed warped front rotors as well. On 8/7, I replaced my vehicle's REAR brakes & rotors at Christian Brothers Automotive in Buckeye, AZ. Christian Brothers Automotive also informed me the front rotors were worn amid their inspection and needed to be replaced soon. I called Knudsen's Automotive yesterday (Monday) 8/7, to explain now my third inspection of the FRONT rotors being warped upon inspection. Darryl answered the phone and claimed I left his shop (Knudsen's) on the morning of July 31st without explanation after my car was inspected. Darryl tried to create the scenario that he had offered to issue the warranty but didn't know why I left on the morning of July 31st. Well, I left due to their assurance of fine rotors as informed by Darryl and his technician. Professional gaslighting at its finest. Our conversation grew tense, and Darryl began to raise his initial tone of voice over the phone. Two adults disagreed, but name-calling was avoided. An appointment was set for tomorrow 8/9 but, at this point, I cannot trust such a company lacking integrity and honesty. There are so many great reviews on this company. I can now only wish to have had the same experience as those customers. Instead, I'll take this L and be $400 in the hole. My advice: Avoid Knudsen's. If you're traveling, short on cash, find a reliable technician elsewhere. The technicians work hard, but Darryl's unprofessionalism overshadows their efforts. read more

The place is a RIP off. Charged $135 for check engine light and gas cap. Should have tightened the gas cap. Instead they put new gas cap on that was the wrong one. I had to buy new gas cap and erase the new check engine light myself. read more

Love these guys! I've been going here for years. They're friendly and very reasonably priced. I wanted to check once, to be sure, to I did an online search for prices when I needed a transmission flush, and Knudsen's price was only $10 more than the low end of the range I found online. It also bolsters my confidence in them that they don't suggest unnecessary repairs. I did just have to replace my front brakes and rear spoilers, but it had been almost 2 years since the last time they said I needed anything other than an oil change. (To be fair, I don't drive a lot, but still that's pretty darn good!) I really can't recommend them highly enough! read more

These guys are pretty friendly and I have no complaint about them or the work they have done for me. I'm just upset because after I got a headlamp module replaced by them, they unplugged my power seat and didn't plug it back in. I can't find where it plugs back in, or I would just do it myself. I came back to talk to them about it and they wanted to charge me for a diagnosis. Not sure why. I just need them to plug my seat back in. Also, after the headlamp repair, my alarm no longer beeps when I lock the doors. I don't feel as if I should have to pay for this since it was working when I had the headlamp repaired. I want to keep coming back to this garage because it's in my neighborhood, but I don't know. I have other options and I need to get my brakes fixed. read more

New people have taken over Knudsens and its not the family any more. It's a shame too because this man, Darrell is his name, is very rude and not very thorough in the work that gets done on your vehicle. I left my car on Monday morning at 7am and told him the things that were wrong with it and that I needed done on it. He never called me on Monday all day. I ended up calling them to see where they were at work my vehicle. He told me they were waiting for a couple of parts. I told him no problem that I could take the next day off if need be. If I wouldn't had called him, he wouldn't have called me and just kept my car anyways??? Most busneses will call you and let you know where they are at with your vehicle and that they need to keep it another day...not here. Anyways the next day on Tuesday, I didn't hear anything again so about 2pm I called them. He said the parts just got there, so I said ok should I come pick up my car at the end of the day, as I have to work Wednesday morning. He said that they would call me when they were done. When Carrie called me to pick up my car, I said ok, I m on my way. I got there and the man Darrell was so rude to me because I asked about the other things that I told him was wrong with my car when I dropped it off on Monday and he never even looked at those things?? He only fixed the one issue and hope they did a good job on it. He told me they spent 4 hours on my car, but what about the other issues he was suppose to fix. He had my car for 2 days and never even looked at the other issues?? He was so rude at one point he left the room and told the lady Carrie to take care of me as he walked out the door. I couldn't believe how he was talking to me. I have been going to Knudsens for 15 years and will now take my business elsewhere. SO SAD ! O by the way, Carrie was a very kind young lady. I feel for her having to work with that man. She apologized, but at that point I was thru. But this has nothing to do with her, it all falls on the man named Darrell. Just found this mechanic on yelp, and decided to give a call to see if I could get second opinion for Hybrid repair. Lorenzo let me know that he has "No hybrid technicians here" that can work on car when I explained to him car said "Check hybrid system Stop car immediately". I let him know he needs to update yelp description since it says Hybrid Car Repair. He said "we do hybrid car repair, but not for that error message." I asked him if he could tell me why, so I could find out why that particular message can't be worked on. He said "Because we have no hybrid technicicians here." Not sure what that meant so I said Thank you and ended the call. read more

While driving from California to Connecticut, my check engine light came on as we arrived in Phoenix for the night. The local dealership was not helpful and could not even get me in for 2-3 days. So I found Knudsen's Auto Specialist and had a great experience! Not only were they able to get me in right away to diagniose the problem, but they helped reduce my stress level! He was very excited to help us and check out our vehicle. He did work only that needed to be done and saved us money. He gave us advice on our truck and referred us to an awesome muffler guy. While the guys were working on the truck, we used the lot vehicle to get around. Everything about this experience was unreal, and unlike any mechanic encounter we have had before. One of my go to shops. Knudsen's literally defines what a small family business should be. My dad has trusted Lyle with his cars for over a decade, and he's been doing mine since I started driving. The service is quick, the work is done correctly the first time, and Lyle and the staff will keep you informed on what they're doing to your car, and why. Most of the time I need parts I buy them from Lyle, as I like to give him the business. The few times it made more sense to provide my own parts Lyle was more than willing to do the install for me, and wasn't offended. He's played both sides of the fence, and understands the customers perspective. They're all car guys to the bone. One thing that really stands out for is the several times I've heard Lyle tell customers that they didn't need something, or directs them to a cheaper option. I think it says a lot about the integrity of the shop that Lyle doesn't feel the need to up sell. He makes enough money through honest hard work and repeat business that he doesn't need to gouge you. As far as I am concerned, that defines good business. Overall, great place. We all want an honest and fair mechanic, and Knudsen's embodies everything a great auto shop should be. read more

I first heard of Knudsen's when I moved into the area and needed an oil change. They were the closest auto shop in the area and had incredible reviews. Then I got a coupon in the mail for a $20 oil change, so I booked an appointment. I'm from a small town in Wisconsin, and am used to family-like service. That's EXACTLY what I got from Knudsen's!!! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and great service. The work was just as great! I was worried about getting scammed over a cheap coupon, but it was just the opposite. The shop is clean, Lorenzo is the best, and the service is unbeatable. Honest service, but no pressure to spend money you don't have. Once, they didn't have the correct filter for my oil change and I had to wait a little longer than usual- so they gave it to me complimentary. Definitely not your typical auto shop!! I have recently moved out of Arizona, and I will miss the amazing service that Knudsen's gave me for the past 2 years. Thanks for everything, Lorenzo!! P.S. I took my vehicle there to have the struts replaced, I was able to drop off my vehicle and take their "shop rental" to work until my vehicle was completed. This had to be scheduled in order to ensure their vehicle would be there, I love that about this shop, they always keep the customer in mind. They know that we (as customers) have jobs to go to as well and typically cant sit and wait for extended periods of time. Lorenzo and Monty were both great. Lorenzo uses the technology he has at hand to keep you informed about where they are with you vehicle, I prefer text and he was able to accommodate me in that aspect. I brought my car in for brakes and an overall look see. When they called to let me know that my car was ready, I asked if they would honor a 10% discount coupon that I had forgotten to mention when I dropped the car off. He said yes. I went to pick up my car and he showed me pictures of my engine - it was full of droppings, dog food and dog treats. Apparently a rat was living under the hood of my car! He said that he did not have his guys clean it off. Really??? It's a shop with shop vacs and equipment for dirty jobs! What was I supposed to do with that mess??? I was so freaked out about the rat that I forgot to redeem my 10% off coupon. I called the next day and they would not honor the coupon. I was shocked. A friend of mine that used be a customer of this business cleaned off my engine for me. He was as disappointed in Knudsen's as I was. I honestly feel that this business takes advantage of women. and have very poor customer service skills. They won't care that I won't go back there, but I will make sure that if anyone asks me about that business I will be telling this story. read more

My car was so broken. It wouldn't pass inspection...which was due in 4 days. I had no more extensions on my registration. My car leaked oil, transmission fluid and power steering fluid. At one point it leaked water too but knudsens fixed that issue right away as I couldn't drive the car hot. Every week, sometimes twice a week I would come in to knudsens and fill my oil, my transmission fluid and my power steering fluid. Knudsens always made time for me...no matter what. They knew I needed to get to interviews and appts. I was also in between jobs and they never charged me for my refills. Eddie, the manager, and Zoe, their mechanic would always find a way to fit me in. This went on for months. They were always professional and accommodating. I can not say how thankful I am for Knudsens and their staff. I have a new job and a new car now, but will be using Knudsens ALWAYS! I have been going their for probably 16 years and they are better now then they have ever been! I would recommend them to anyone who had issues with their vehicles, as Knudsens WILL figure or out for you.
