Koi Ramen

Run don't walk to this ramen spot! The inside is small but it's really nice. The service was great and they played really good music. When the ramen arrived you could smell the goodness coming from the bowl. The miso had a depth of flavor and felt so good going down. They have plenty of add ons available so you can add pork, bacon, shrimp, eggs etc. it was so good I sent my husband back today for a reup! Try it and thank me later

Ramen was so tasty! And had lots of flavor and spiciness options. Broth was good and flavorful. This spot is small with only 10 tables, so fills up quick. I did not like that they charge for flavored egg and the server guy was rude and couldn't really understand him. Overall good spot and good ramen!

You have to find street parking there are metered parking spots around. Its a small nice spot with great service with a good small menu which is good i like a place that focuses on a few items. Theres only ramen and appetizers here. I ordered the ko ryu ramen level 3 spicy you can choose your level of spiciness 1-5 And you can choose how you want your broth whether its miso spicy miso shoyu etc My friend ordered the chicken wonton ramen and we also ordered spicy edamame and fries. I didnt like the spicy edamame because it tasted like wasabi and the first batch came out way overcooked and had a texture of peas but they brought us a new one which was ok. The fries are tiny so i recommend to sticking to just the ramen. Overall great service nice ambiance

We hit up Ko Ryu Ramen while visiting LA and were very pleasantly surprised. "Dad, smell the broth, it smells so good!!" my normally unopinionated middle schooler exclaimed... We ordered two bowls of the Shacho Ramen, and the food came out very quickly. We demolished it in minutes, and perhaps the only thing we regret is that there wasn't more... This is a smaller restaurant not really catered to larger parties, but we are glad to have stumbled across this quality noodle house!

Ko Ryu Ramen is a fun and casual restaurant, and the tastiness of the ramen is always consistent. You know what you are getting each time, which is comforting when you need a treat that you know will be delicious. I ordered the spicy ramen and asked for a level 3. It had quite a kick that made my nose run a little, but I love spicy food. I do believe that going any higher than a 3 may make it a bit unbearable for me. 3 is perfect for me. If you are a bit sensitive to spicy food, I would suggest going lower or trying a different option from their menu. We also ordered the gyoza and the garlic edamame. The gyoza was delicious. My children even wanted me to order a second serving. I also ordered the garlic edamame, but the garlic is a bit overpowering to the point where it was a little spicy. The spice came purely from the potent garlic. It was good, but could benefit from a pinch less garlic. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. I will continue to visit when I have a craving for spicy ramen that I know will hit the spot.

I don't do "middle of the road" reviews...food is either worth your time or it isn't. Tonight, I wandered into a ramen spot in San Pedro, tucked along a charming little boulevard, lured in by its glowing reviews. I went straight for their new Garlic Bomb Ramen. Here's the rub: one lonely slice of meat felt more like an afterthought than a protein, and the garlic--while bold--came on like a drunken house guest who doesn't know when to leave. That said, service was sharp and attentive, the kind of detail that makes you want to give a place another shot. Maybe this bowl just wasn't my story, but I'll be back to see if the rest of the menu tells a better one.

Vegetarian Gyoza and Vegetable Ramen

Interior isn't super special, but appeared clean and was sufficient. My server was very busy, even though it was almost 3PM, but it was a holiday - Jan 1st. I took one of the last 2 tables. She did a great job of juggling, menus, orders, drinks and payments. She was friendly, efficient and happy to answer questions. I am mostly vegan and liked the vegetarian Gyoza and Ramen very much. I will happily go back when I'm in town again.

Very good ramen spot. My first visit to this ramen restaurant on a Friday, 3/14/2025 around 4pm. Plenty of metered street parking until 6pm. After 6pm you don't have to pay. Or there is a metered park lot about a block up the street, west of the restaurant also metered until 6pm. We ordered the Ko Ryu Spicy Ramen level 2. A Chicken Ramen and a Shacho Ramen. We also ordered karaage, pork buns, spicy edamame, and handmade gyoza. Everything was delicious. Level 2 spice is a perfect balance if you like spice but not too intense of a ramen. The noodles are very good and filling. Perfect texture. And add ons included are good too. Karaage is already bite size and tender and juicy. The pork buns were one of my favorites aside from everything else with plenty of pieces of tender flavorful pork, like little pork tacos. Pork gyozas were great and a lot of flavor and full of broth. Service was attentive and pleasant. Inside is nicely decorated and clean. Definitely will return.

I was attending the First Thursday event in downtown San Pedro. It was alive with music and open shops and pop ups. I was craving something light and popped into Ko Ryu Ramen. I was seated promptly and a menu and water quickly appeared. I ordered the Kyo Ramen with miso (signature dish) and an Oder of. gyoza. The ramen tender and the miso broth hit the spot on the cool evening. A great spot just down the street from the big hotels.

I've eaten here a few times now, after starting a new job nearby. Mostly take out orders, but this time we decided to dine in. Service was friendly, helpful, and fast too! It's perfect for a quick bite to eat during our lunch break. Very casual, so don't worry about dressing up. I ordered the fried chicken curry ramen because one of my friends had ordered it in the past, and I remember it smelling so good. I'm glad I gave it a try this time! The chicken is served on the side so it doesn't get soggy in the broth. Even after I added pieces of it to the broth and let it sit, it still held it's crunchiness for quite a while. The broth itself had a wonderful curry flavor. Usually I can't finish a serving of ramen in one sitting, but this was so good I ate it all! I've tried their tsukemen and garlic bomb ramen in the past. The tsukemen wasn't my fav, but it's hard to compare when I already have an amazing fav at another ramen spot. And the garlic bomb ramen was good, but I didn't feel blown away by it or anything. That could just be because I prefer tonkotsu ramen though, and Ko-Ryu specializes in miso and shoyu ramen. I'll definitely be back, and next time I want to try one of their spicy challenge ramen dishes!

I learned this place stays open late on the weekends and this is where many restaurant staff come to eat! This place is tiny, yet cozy. The tables are placed a bit close, but you still have privacy. She shared the gyoza which was crispy on the outside and flavorful inside. One friend ordered the yakisoba and I tasted it which was very good, I will order it next time. My other friend ordered the mabo tofu which I also had a chance to taste and I could easily understand why my friend says this dish is her comfort food. I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen and it was so good! I took half home to share with my husband. There are so many other dishes I want to try next time! Free parking on the lot. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table, which was totally ok. because the food was so good! Prices are reasonable too. OH! They have Happy Hour!!!

Today we decided to revisit the restaurant for old time's sake. Inside, the main wall was repainted with a new mural. The annual LA Marathon posters, pinned by the staff who participated in the events, were also gone. Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. We found out the reason why while exiting the restaurant: The young cook from two decades ago is now running the open kitchen as head chef. Great food and still reasonable prices. It was totally worth revisiting.

My wife and I had this again last night and it was even better than the first time. I love sushi…read moreand I go to a lot of sushi restaurants. But when I look back on my experiences with other restaurants, the best I can usually say was "that tasted fresh". Like a child "coloring by numbers", most Sushi restaurants produce the same standard rolls with the same standard techniques and tastes as everyone else. It's sushi. And it's fine. But it's not this place. Gushiya is a hidden gem. If you love traditional, high quality sushi, you owe it to yourself to visit this restaurant. It's here that I learned to love Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail collar). I've had it before at other restaurants and it just never impressed me. I'd think, "why am I getting cooked fish at a sushi restaurant." The first time I had it at Gushiya was similar to the first time I had a really great piece of fruit from a local farmers market. You think to yourself, "why am I not eating this more often". The way the char on the outside, the tenderness inside and the marinade soak into the fish is an experience you have to try. Order for yourself, not for the table. You won't want to share this one. Last night we also had Hokkaido scallops. It was one of the most delicious dishes I've ever consumed. And once again, Gushiya taught me to love a food I've eaten for years on a totally different level. I love scallops, but I don't love them most in their raw state due to their watery texture and bland taste. These scallops hit on a different level. The texture is buttery and they have a hint of sweetness. Their chef uses a light citrus flavor and together the whole combination just comes together as a perfect bite of food. One thing I don't eat. Octopus. I've never enjoyed it. I probably should have tried it last night because my wife practically cried over the Octopus appetizer, sliced thin in a citrus marinade. Better I don't eat it because she had it gone in minutes. Final verdict: Don't sleep on Gushiya. Bring yourself. Bring a date, bring a group. Take an uber. Have a little hot sake and draft beer and enjoy what is probably one of the best, low key Sushi experiences you'll ever have outside of Japan.

Wife got the tonkotsu. Asked for adding spice to level 3. Very rich broth, and plentiful toppings. The chashu was VERY thick. Standard ramen noodles in this one. I opted for the shisen black. Noodles are little different in this one, but still fantastic. It's similar to a higher quality version of Korean ramyun as far as its thickness, and was quite chewy like an egg noodle. Again, thicccc piece of chashu to accompany the bowl. I'm definitely coming back.

(more like a 3.5-3.7)…read more This was our first time here. I was super excited to find a place that serves chicken broth! The original shisen ramen was pretty good, I did like how it had vegetables in it. I did wish it had meat though (only had tiny pieces of pork). The broth was very light and the noodles were good. If don't prefer a creamy broth you will probably like this. The black shisen ramen was ok, I wish the garlic taste was stronger. The red shisen ramen (level 1) was pretty good but it was spicy (I do not tolerate spice that well) do beware of that! The chasu was also pretty good, it was a little sweet. The miso tonkotsu tsukemen was ok. The noodles were a bit undercooked (in my opinion), and the broth was very rich. The rich miso ramen was (as it is called) very rich. Definitely would need to drink a lot of water if I ate the whole thing. But the broth has a good flavor. It has the same noodles as the tsukemen (so again a little undercooked imo). Our server was super nice, and it is a clean small establishment. Overall not bad, would be down to try again if I am in the area

The ambiance is casual since it's within the food court. You order from a kiosk, then receive a buzzer (fair warning -- it's super loud and doesn't shut off ), so if you end up going shopping, waiting for your food - be forewarned. That said, the food comes out quickly - within 15 minutes, which is great. Then, just find a seat within the food court. There's a water station within the food court (if you want water), or you can purchase drinks at the kiosk, OR just walk in the market beforehand to grab a drink. We tried the Premium Black Garlic Ramen, and it was excellent. The broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, easily my favorite. We also had the Premium Spicy Ramen, which was also good, but I preferred the black garlic because of that extra creaminess. The difference between the premium and non-premium is that you get a whole seasoned egg, nori (seaweed), and extra meat. They also provide free spice (where the utensils are) if you want your ramen to be spicy. We also got the mini chashu rice bowl - and for the price...it's a generous portion and honestly filling enough to be a meal on its own (although you're only able to buy this with a ramen purchase). This is also great, if you have kids and they do not want to eat ramen. Overall, it was great ramen with super-fast service. Definitely a good place to grab a bowl if you don't want to go to a restaurant and still want high-quality ramen.
