Like I said, I can get a bit tight.

This could be my new favorite find in San Pedro! A little hole-in-the-wall, a bit of chill, a lot of good food. Oh, btw it's just called Saigon Cafe as I was told the"Oi" is just something like an accent mark. So don't call in and say is this the "Saigon Oi! Cafe" like out of an AC-DC song as you might be embarrassed. The food is TNT good for flavor though. The wings were good - it seems every nationality has a chicken wing recipe that is good - good egg rolls & be sure to make use of the lettuce + fixins for a nice wrap experience as it does taste better. I had a banh mi sandwich our friends had pho. All was good, maybe a tad pricey but good. The staff is efficient and friendly if the pace slows a bit. To note: 1/ the space is a bit tiny and traffic flows in and out / if you hit it at the wrong time the seating for more than 2 could be tough; 2/ the hours - nobody seemed to know the hours in our party. There are no hours on the door. There are no hours on the menu. One person in our group claim that Thursday was a good day, but another said they arrived on a Thursday and it was closed. I was there on a Thursday and all was good - open til 8:30. So maybe call before you go. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 3/ I didn't get a chance to play but they have a retro Nintendo cartridge game set up - you even have to run through a vcr to make it work. Those who know, know. A projector too so this could be a fun place to just hang out and show the world how good you were on Street fighter 2 or on old school Mario! I have to come back for that. My partner wasn't very supportive this visit.

So happy to have a really good Vietnamese spot in San Pedro!! I've been here 3x now and everything I've had has been fantastic!! From the bahn mi to the vermicelli noodle bowls to the chicken wings and the oxtail pho! That oxtail pho in particular is so good I can't stop thinking of it. And the Vietnamese coffee drinks are equally addictive! I hope they do well because I really want to keep coming here!!

We were eager to try this place...so happy to have another good restaurant in Pedro! The Pho was very good. The oxtail had lots of flavor and could definitely feed two people. my daughter really enjoyed her brisket pho too. Also that Vietnamese coffee... Out of this world! Also Chuck full of caffeine... So good!

Came in the first time to try since I was at the korean friendship bell nearby with my nieces . Let me start off with the ambiance . Cute lanterns outside . Inside is just as cute . Love the vibe. Service was so accommodating. We were splitting the bahn mi between us 3 and they split it for us , amazing . Then they brought the pho and were glad to give us small bowls for us to share . Overall experience 5/5 Next time I'll be taking photos . We were so hungry and in the moment . All was delicious. Thank you to all the staff !!

What a great little gem of a Vietnamese restaurant did my sister introduce me to today. After our normal Tuesday of cooking for the needy in San Pedro, we debated on where to dine. She was told recently about a new Vietnamese restaurant nearby and that's where we found Saigon Oi Cafe. We had a great conversation with the owner at the counter and proceeded to order Nuoc Mam wings, pork and beef Banh Mi sandwiches, fresh spring rolls and my favorite, Oxtail Pho for takeout. Everything was packaged nicely and all that we ordered was delicious. Honestly, this was our first venture into Vietnamese cuisine and it DID NOT disappoint. Four of us at home enjoyed the delicious and aromatic Pho and their Banh Mi sandwiches which were generous and beautifully prepared. The fresh spring rolls were excellent. Oh and as for my oxtail soup, OMG!!! The broth was amazing and the generous portion of oxtails and rice noodles was perfect. We will definitely be back, only next time I want to dine in as the place, though small, is warm and inviting. Kudos to Bernard and Feng for establishing a great place for Vietnamese food in San Pedro.

K... as mentioned prior, on more than one occasion, I'm typically not a one visit review kinda guy. But... exceptions can and are made on my behalf. First off, I was elated to see Saigon Oi pop up on my instagram feed. I was intrigued to say the least. My minimal experiences with Vietnamese food has been limited to Nam's Red Door, (Pedro) and a couple joints on Anaheim street in the LBC, all of which i patronized while still gainfully employed, (retired for 8 yrs now). I joyfully perused their extensive menu, consulted the wifey on choices and we made our selections. Interior of the place is very smallish but there are a few outdoor tables. First and foremost, I have never had Banh Mi. Always wanted to try but never did. Just a weird confession. So i ordered 2, (one grilled pork, one grilled beef), 2 orders of the Nuoc Mam wings, 2 orders of the fresh spring rolls and a large pho. Starting with the sandwiches, seriously one of the tastiest little boogers I've ever had. Uber fresh pickled veggies, jalapeno slices and assorted other greens on ridiculously tasty bread. Meats were tender, juicy, well seasoned and flat out yummy. The rolls are huge!!! like 6" long rolls. Fresh and served with my ever favorite peanut sauce. Absolutely delicious!!! A must. Wings are incredible and not the little "Domino's Pizza" sized effers. Just enough garlic and spice to tickle the taste buds but not overpower. Another must. Last and certainly not least, there is the soup. Just unbelievable, A tad on the spicy side but i love that. Phuong (sp???), is the owner with her hubs,. She suggested some marrow and other assorted goodies as "add ins" and her recommendations were spot on. And... she is just a lovely soul. What a sweet, sweet young lady. Can hardly wait to go back!!!

This review is a long time coming. Saigon Ơi Cafe is such a hidden gem. Great to finally have a Vietnamese pho restaurant in Pedro! The cafe is incredibly cute and cozy, it has a welcoming vibe that makes you want to sit, relax, and actually enjoy your meal instead of rushing out. The food is where they really shine. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully made. The portions are just right and not overly heavy, but still satisfying. The nuoc mam wings are hands down one of my favs. They're crispy, well seasoned, and honestly a must try. The pho is another highlight, especially the broth. It's rich, clean, and full of depth without being greasy, which is hard to find. If it's your first time trying pho, you gotta eat it there. Their grilled meats are especially impressive, you can really taste that perfect char. The egg rolls are crispy and flavorful, and the vermicelli plates are fresh, balanced, and super satisfying. Their bánh mì sandwiches are absolutely delicious too. Let's not forget their Vietnamese coffee and other refreshing drinks. Another win for me is that it's a great spot for families. Very kid-friendly and comfortable, which makes it easy to come back again and again.

I'm not going to lie, the food here was good. Although the wings need more body and texture they were good. The Pho was delicious! It was nice and savory and they even asked if I wanted more condiments. Now, the music is modern and the vibes are immaculate. Some random customer suggested the coffee and I'm going to try it next time when I bring my Girl. The service was phenomenal; the staff is very young. The only downside is that they close at 3 on Fridays. The restaurant was busy and so were the to-go orders. Let's hope they open for dinner on weekends and days that other people get off work

Comfy little spot nestled in San Pedro with a welcoming and friendly staff. The ox tail pho with filet add-on and the nước mắm wings topped with a Vietnamese iced coffee were very refreshing. Bringing the family next time. My little one will definitely enjoy the Dino nuggets on the kiddie menu Order at the counter and then grab a seat! They say lunch hours are pretty busy! Luckily I got there right when the doors opened!

Love the service here!!!! Super friendly, warm and welcoming!!!!! Their egg rolls are delicious!!!!! I have been eating here at least once a week for the past few weeks and it doesn't disappoint. It's yummy each time. Would recommend if you're in the area.

I have ordered take out twice. The vermicelli bowl is really good and portion is generous. My husband loves the pork rice dish, he got it both times. The second time I got the beef rice dish ... but I think the pork is better as it's more tender. The chicken wings are THE BEST!! I got it twice and it never disappoints. The sauce is sweet and savory and it's perfect. It's my favorite. I also got the spring rolls, good but nothing special. Lastly, I tried their coco matcha and wasn't a fan. But I am interested in the coffee drinks!

Stopped by here for some drinks to take on the drive and the drinks were soooo ono... so refreshing and looks so purty as well. Small place with a classic take out vibes and the staff was so nice and helpful. We didn't try the food but the pho smelled sooo good. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

Came here for the first time with a friend and we loved it! Service was so friendly and welcoming. My friend enjoyed her beef pho sharing it was very flavorful and I loved my fresh and umami vermicelli egg roll bowl! My bowl came with vermicelli noodles, fresh and pickled veggies, mint, crispy egg rolls (option of pork or veggie), fried shallots, and fish sauce for the salty and tangy umami. Highly recommend adding some chili oil on top. Portion is quite large which was great as I am always happy to take home leftovers. I also enjoyed the sour plum soda! Overall, such a charming and delightful experience.

My dining mates that had the banh mi were also happy with their choices and the one that had the Spring Rolls felt it was sufficient enough to be a meal. Service was attentive and quick. Given the choice between inside and the patio we chose the patio which has be bit more vibe. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!

She said the house salad was better the last time she came bc the lettuce was different. She recalled it was Romaine lettuce last time. This time it was a green salad. I had the lemongrass fish which was made of soybean. It was a little too dry and rubbery for me. I kept putting it in my soup with rice to make it taste better, but ran out of soup. I won't be ordering this dish again. I took half home, cut up the soybean fish and added it to a stew. I didn't mention to my server that it was my bday, but was disappointed that he didn't even offer like regular servers do, "Would you like to see the dessert menu?" I didn't tell him it was my bday nor did I ask for the dessert menu bc I wasn't the one paying the bill. Not that I needed dessert, but it would've been nice to have been asked. When I mentioned this to another server who came by to clear our table that our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert and that the restaurant doesn't seem to want to push its desserts, he quickly brought us a dessert menu, but my friend was already paying our bill - too late! It would've been nice to be asked earlier. I even had candles in my bag just in case we got dessert. Anyway, this server said he'll tell our server about not offering dessert. The next day I came back with another friend after a Music Center event. My server from the day before recognized me. This time he asked us at the start before we ordered or after we had just ordered whether we'd like to see the dessert menu. Huh? Ask at the END not start of a meal! Instead of embarrassing him, I told him, "No, thanks. My bday was yesterday." On this second day, my friend and I shared a Chinoise salad (delicious and refreshing!) and paella (not like a paella, a little too wet and granular for our taste, but healthy - a living food dish). We had mint and lemon water for both meals. $12 parking in the adjacent structure. Free parking passes at the Music Center if you're a season ticket holder or good luck with finding street parking. I'd still continue to occasionally patronize this restaurant when I have Music Center events bc I want to support veganism, the restaurant; however, I was disappointed with some of the food and waitstaff this weekend. I'd suggest that the waitstaff go thru customer training on when/what/how to talk to customers. Incentive from the website: join the rewards plan - 300 points for 30% off the bill and 100 points for a free dessert! I'm aiming for the free dessert!!

It was a little before noon and there was only one party in the whole restaurant. We got seated right away and it was by the front window for everyone to see. The menu had a lot of options and priced like all other places or I'm just getting used to the prices these days. They did have a lunch special for $20 and you can get a small pho, and then some other choices and then a drink. I couldn't tell you what the other choices were because I didn't order it. The waitress was efficient and got the job done. She did get a little overwhelmed since after 1230pm, everyone decided to grab lunch. Here's what we ordered: lunch special with small bowl of beef pho, a beef banh mi and unsweetened black tea. The hubs said that his pho was decent, the flavor was simple and didn't have that deep rich flavoring like other pho bowls he has had. The banh mi had great bread and the filling was pretty flavorful. The black tea was good. I had the build your own pho because I have to have vegetable broth but I added in chicken meatballs and shrimp. The broth was pretty tasteless so I had to add in some hoisin sauce, and sriracha. There were other condiments but I was too lazy to grab it from the other table. That helped out with the soup. The chicken meatballs were questionable as in I wasn't sure if it was chicken. There were plenty of shrimp and they added pieces of chicken. The noodles had a nice chew to them. Overall the pho was okay but it didn't hit the pho craving/spot. We also ordered pork egg rolls and they were interesting. They weren't crunchy at all. It was a bit oily and at one point, I wasn't sure if a part of it was cooked. There was more other filling than meat. The nuoc mam tasted like watered down fish sauce. I guess I was so hungry that I didn't mind it. Overall, the food was just okay. Nothing exciting to report and unfortunately I wouldn't go back.

Today I ordered the banh beo bi, vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls, nem nuong coun and che ba mau. Banh beo bi are rice cakes topped with shredded pork. It comes with chilies and fish sauce for you to pour on top. The rice cakes are served warm and are super smooth and soft. The thai chilies it comes with are spicy so don't use too much. The vermicelli with nem nuong and egg rolls comes with a slab of meat and a whole egg roll. The bottom are the noodles and mix of veggie and herbs. The nem nuong is sweetened charbroiled pork that is grilled. Think of a sweet meat ball. The egg rolls are super crispy and filled with meat. The noodles go well with the fish sauce and there are a lot of veggies inside. The nem nuong coun is a spring roll that's wrapped in rice paper. It has the meat and lettuce wrapped inside and comes with a dipping sauce. I believe the sauce is made with ground shrimp. For $8 for 3 rolls it is a steal compared to other restaurants. If you are craving Brodards in OC this place can satisfy your craving. Their che ba mau which is a 3 bean dessert has a lot of beans inside topped with coconut milk and shaved ice. It is the person drink to finish your meal and it is not too sweet.

Com Tam is decent, rice texture is on point. Pork chop is marinated well but not enough lemongrass flavor, tender and not dry at all. Baked egg was good but not amazing, seemed like it missing shredded wood ear mushroom. Che Ba Mau by far hands down the worst I've had. Red bean wasn't soft, outer shell/skin was still pretty tough. Not much mung bean either after stirring it literally for about 4 seconds the mung bean basically disintegrated into the liquid. The liquid.. watered down skim milk, not a trace of coconut flavor anywhere. I didn't know you can mess up Che Ba Mau until I had it from here.
