They have the usual and traditional Mediterranean dishes, but I wanted something different today. Went with some authentic Yemeni food. I ordered the Fahsah Lehm. This is a Saltah (traditional Yemeni stew) with melt in your mouth lamb that came out piping hot and bubbling in a clay bowl (see vid). You can feel, hear, smell and taste the authenticity in this dish. Spices and flavors flowing all over. It comes out with an amazing garlic sauce and a Yemeni style green sauce, almost like a salsa. And if that wasn't enough, you get the biggest clay oven bread (a Yemeni Malawah) you have ever seen. Words don't do it justice, see pics for details. This is honestly the perfect edible shovel. Tear some off, scoop up some bubbling lamb and spices, then drag it through the garlic and green sauce. Get messy...flavor the authenticity this dish explodes with. The non-vegetarian food was okay with the chicken being dry and average. I did get a stone in the daal. The lassis are good especially the salt one because it has cilantro which was unexpected and good. Facilities are clean. Service was okay. Thali means plate or tray, it is usually round, and this dish is meant to contain a number of items providing multi flavors and textures. Each region in South Asia and Southeast Asia has its own version, and even within a region there are many variations, as to number of items and the variety of item. The version here is rather simple and small, reducing the variety of flavors and textures which is at the heart of this meal. Here it is served in a compartmentalized, rectangular metal tray. What I was served contained Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, stewed Black Lentils, Basmati Rice, and plain Naan - there were no dips or sauces - as I said, simple and small! I had no say on what items the Thali contained! While nothing was bad, nothing was OMG either - across the board rather above average items. The Rice Pudding was nice and there was a very good amount. The Navratan Korma was solid, but did not quite rise to the level of that at either Saffron or Curry and Noodle in WS, or Lemon in Greensboro, or Salt and Pepper in High Point. There were plenty of veggies, but the korma sauce lacked substance. I would do this again, and will most likely try the Vegetable Thali.
