24. Beef Fried Rice
Terri W.

I wanted LoMein this past Monday. My favorite Chinese restaurant is closed on Monday. The next closest to me is cash only (?!) so I used Yelp to find Chinese, near me, open now. It worked like a charm and brought up Lin's. I used to come here a lot before I moved but it's been probably 15 years. I noticed I could order online thru the Yelp app, so I did. It asked if I agreed to the Terms Of Service for Grubhub. I didn't think the terms would apply to me since I was picking it up up myself, so I agreed without reading. I will never order this way again. They don't ask what portion size you want, pint or quart and the prices were more expensive. I realized too late that I could've ordered from Lin's website and saved money. From her reaction at pickup, I don't think the restaurant gets the tip either. This place has gotten huge inside and has a very large buffet area. I had ordered beef fried rice, an egg roll and beef LoMein. The fried rice was very yellow and had beef and onions, no peas or carrots. I tasted it it and it was VERY good. The egg roll was nice and crispy and fully loaded. The beef LoMein was another story. It was so salty, I couldn't eat it. I use a lot of salt, so if I think it's too salty... I'm not interested in buffets and the health rating was a very low A at 90.5. I won't return since there are better options closer to me.

We ordered take out. Did not go to the buffet. I got General Tso chicken (with no spice) and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was lightly battered, not over cooked or stringy and a really good taste to the sauce. But the lo mein... that was the star of my dish. I think it was the best lo mein I have ever had! Great texture and flavor and loaded with julienned vegetables (and not just fillers like broccoli). I also got crab ragoons. I don't like them super crabby and these were not. They had a nice light crab flavor and the filling was super creamy! But the sweet and sour sauce was a little thin. My husband got the orange chicken with beef lo mein. He thinks it was quite good (though he may have had better). The beef lo mein was adequate. Good flavor, good balance of vegetables and noodles but he would have liked a little more beef. He also got hot and sour soup. He loves it extra sour and almost always has to add extra vinegar. Sadly this was not an exception. So he thinks it was a pretty typical hot and sour soup. Not bad but not to die for. Everything was exceptionally hot!!! The Chinese donuts were straight out of the fryer and so perfectly cooked and not too greasy. And in a box instead of a bag which was great. Really awesome donuts!!! There prices have gone up since earlier reviews. I felt the amount of food we got for the lunch special price was a little bit less then average. But I liked that if you wanted to sup lo mein the price is marked right on the menu. I feel like every other Chinese place it just depends on who picks up the phone on how much I will get charged for the sub. Over all very good. Haven't tried any others in Kernersville. But definitely a good place if you want some better then average Chinese.

This was my first time eating from here, I ordered on he phone for delivery, it took 40 min to receive my food, no biggie. Upon opening my plate I could see the rice was extremely bland. I ordered chicken wings with chicken fried rice. This was the weirdest whitest looking chicken I had ever seen, almost transparent. I picked that out. The rice was bland as I knew it would be. The checked wings themselves were fried very hard. They didn't taste bad. I will not be eating here again.

Awesome! First time here! Got take out and food was scolding hot, very tasty and everything was done right! Staff, male and female were both super friendly and kind! Buffet looked super good as well. We would have done that but to nice of a day to not sit and eat in a local park. Well be back Forsure!

What a night. It totally came together in a fluke. We had planned on going to Greensboro and I…read moreremembered, wait, the ridge! We quickly got a reservation for our table of 7 and I was praying it was tasty. You walk in and the smell hits you like a load. It smells incredible! The weekend is a grilling event and they do prime rib, ribeye, salmon, chicken, etc. We had the ribeye, salmon, and prime rib and with that garlic butter.... Wow. Delicious absolutely delicious. The salad and potato bar are perfect. Make your own, exactly how you want it! No waste. I enjoyed a piece of the banana pudding cheesecake for dessert when I got home and needless to say, amazing. It's just a simple place. It reminds me of a childhood steakhouse. We will most definitely be there again this month!

I've been following them since they opened in May, and now that they started serving…read moreFriday-Saturday dinners, we were able to pay a visit. Choices of the day (Friday night, 4/5) were Famous Pot Roast, Bacon Herb Baked Chicken, loaded Mac and cheese, bacon braised Brussels, Broccoli casserole, Sriracha sweet potatoes, and the usual salad accompaniments. They did not disappoint. The pot roast was as tender a flavorful as any I've had, with a few potatoes and carrots in a gravy. The chicken was also very tender (all dark meat, that I saw, and prefer) and juicy, with a nice blend of seasonings. I even tried the broccoli casserole, even though I don't care much for the vegetable, and it was pretty tasty! My girlfriend loved the Sriracha sweet potatoes, and went back for seconds. As I prefer sweet potatoes more on the savory side, I also enjoyed them. I wasn't brave enough for the Brussel sprouts, however. The regular salad side had options of Romaine, or a tender greens mix, with many of the usual toppings and six dressing choices. My lemonade was spot-on, and Barb's half-and-half tea was also tasty. They also have Pepsi products available. We will definitely be watching their Facebook page for future weekend selections, as the menu changes daily/weekly.

My newest food fixation is the Sesame Cauliflower from Peppers in Jamestown. I cannot stop thinking…read moreabout it. The perfectly cooked soft center, the crisp exterior, and the sticky ssssaaaaauce it's covered in... It's savory and heavy enough to be a meal but I was being generous and decided to share the appetizer with my spouse. They do offer a spice scale and they don't hold back. I foolishly tried the spice level 3 (out of 5 being the hottest) and should have chosen a 2 spice level. But the cauli was so good I fought through the pain. Worth it. I could have easily stopped there but we also ordered the garlic naan (also yessssss) as well as the Lamb Korma and Chicken Vindaloo. Both those entrees were delicious but the Korma really stood out to me. The rich and creamy sauce was very unique to my pallet and when I returned, I ordered the Chicken Korma. Clearly I love a good sauce. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, very spacious and would be great for groups or a romantic dinner for 2 (or 3 if you are into that sort of thing). The service was excellent and our server was patient when we ask questions about the menu. Fortunately, a lot of the dishes have descriptions on the menu so you have a good idea of what you are ordering. Looking forward to returning to Peppers again .... for the cauliflower... and the naan....

We were seated immediately, and given time/space to look over the menu, but with our server still hovering nearby in case we had questions or were ready quickly. When we ordered, the server explained the 1-5 spice scale, gave recommendations, and even asked about allergies. After the food came out, he continued to check on us. This is definitely not one of those "abandoned in the corner and ignored" type of establishments. We started with an order of chili paneer, with spice level 2. It was perfectly crunchy and super flavorful. Level 2 has a nice kick to it if you sit for a minute between bites, but it doesn't necessarily light you up either. It is a great level if you're sharing something with someone a little more spice-hesitant. I love paneer, and this appetizer had a generous portion that could easily be a meal for 1 person. For my main, I got the Chana masala, spice level 3. This was absolutely delicious! Spicy, warm, flavorful. Chickpeas had the perfect texture -- not too hard nor too mushy. As a spicy food enjoyer, level 3 was a nice level that is hot and ~just~ starts to make my face flush, but isn't overpowering. A "conversational" level if you will. I could easily order this on a work lunch and could still eat with decorum. We also got garlic naan, which is always a hit, but done absolutely perfectly here. Pillowy, soft, fresh, and generous with the garlic.
