About once a month I will get a huge craving for Chinese buffet food, and Lins kitchen is an affordable way for me to satisfy this craving. While it's a smaller buffet, they actually have a decent selection- they have a lot of chicken dishes and even a small sushi bar. The quality of the dishes isn't spectacular, it's what you expect from a Chinese buffet. But the servers are all very nice and the service is good and while the ambiance can seem a little dingy the restaurant has a bit of soul that makes me keep coming back. Also they have tamales. Middle of the road buffet offering. First time trying it out today, as Mandarin in Clemmons is closed Mondays. It's decent but can definitely do better. $26 lunch for two is a good price though. I don't love that they used styrofoam plates, and the plates were so flimsy that I had to double up to support the massive weight of food mountains I pile on for myself. Place itself is a bit of a dive that could use a facelift and some new seats for the booths. Not much to look at. Even some faint music would help. One person was running the whole front of the house today, but she was on the ball and quite friendly. First time here. We have visited a few buffets and had seen bad reviews for this place but decided to give it a chance. Honestly we like this more than some of the other Asian buffets in the area. I work in the area, and we go there for take-out lunches and are always pleased with the service and food. The ambiance is totally lacking or nonexistent, you do get to see stacked cardboard boxes. The buffet is open TH, FR, Sat, we went on a Thurs. night at 6:30. There was Four people in the place and we walked around before someone greeted us. The place is family owned with a minimum staff. We ordered the Buffet for $13.95. The Chinese portion of the Buffet was fine, but the other parts were no good at all. They had chopped lettuce, nothing else and maybe that was the salad bar portion? The other Buffet items were few and old looking, maybe left over from lunch? Bottomline, very good Chinese takeout, Buffet...stay away. read more

I wanted LoMein this past Monday. My favorite Chinese restaurant is closed on Monday. The next closest to me is cash only (?!) so I used Yelp to find Chinese, near me, open now. It worked like a charm and brought up Lin's. I used to come here a lot before I moved but it's been probably 15 years. I noticed I could order online thru the Yelp app, so I did. It asked if I agreed to the Terms Of Service for Grubhub. I didn't think the terms would apply to me since I was picking it up up myself, so I agreed without reading. I will never order this way again. They don't ask what portion size you want, pint or quart and the prices were more expensive. I realized too late that I could've ordered from Lin's website and saved money. From her reaction at pickup, I don't think the restaurant gets the tip either. This place has gotten huge inside and has a very large buffet area. I had ordered beef fried rice, an egg roll and beef LoMein. The fried rice was very yellow and had beef and onions, no peas or carrots. I tasted it it and it was VERY good. The egg roll was nice and crispy and fully loaded. The beef LoMein was another story. It was so salty, I couldn't eat it. I use a lot of salt, so if I think it's too salty... I'm not interested in buffets and the health rating was a very low A at 90.5. We ordered take out. Did not go to the buffet. I got General Tso chicken (with no spice) and vegetable lo mein. The chicken was lightly battered, not over cooked or stringy and a really good taste to the sauce. But the lo mein... that was the star of my dish. I think it was the best lo mein I have ever had! Great texture and flavor and loaded with julienned vegetables (and not just fillers like broccoli). I also got crab ragoons. I don't like them super crabby and these were not. They had a nice light crab flavor and the filling was super creamy! But the sweet and sour sauce was a little thin. My husband got the orange chicken with beef lo mein. He thinks it was quite good (though he may have had better). The beef lo mein was adequate. Good flavor, good balance of vegetables and noodles but he would have liked a little more beef. He also got hot and sour soup. He loves it extra sour and almost always has to add extra vinegar. Sadly this was not an exception. So he thinks it was a pretty typical hot and sour soup. Not bad but not to die for. Everything was exceptionally hot!!! The Chinese donuts were straight out of the fryer and so perfectly cooked and not too greasy. And in a box instead of a bag which was great. Really awesome donuts!!! There prices have gone up since earlier reviews. I felt the amount of food we got for the lunch special price was a little bit less then average. But I liked that if you wanted to sup lo mein the price is marked right on the menu. I feel like every other Chinese place it just depends on who picks up the phone on how much I will get charged for the sub. Over all very good. Haven't tried any others in Kernersville. Well, we tried! Let's say they had been on the radar for awhile and we never could seem to figure out if they were open it always looked so empty. Now we know why. Arrived after 6. Not a soul was in the place but staff. We walked by one employee twice on a laptop who never acknowledged us, and we had to acknowledge them both coming and going. It said open, but buffet closed at 4. Evening is order from the menu only dine-in or to-go. We gave it a try despite it being empty.... The lights were off above our table, and they had to turn it on for us (thank you). A huge dining room, but weird being alone. We watched two other families enter and leave when they found out no buffet. Perhaps offer it at least one night a week? Adjust buffet hours? 11-2 and 4-6? I assume that keeps food fresh and would draw people in. I wondered if our lo mein was off of the buffet from the day shift it came out so fast. It was average, and we split the combination order for around $10-11. Pork fried rice was leaving a lot to be desired, dry. Crab Rangoon were average. I asked for sweet and sour sauce and was given packets of duck sauce...sure. We also ordered an appetizer of fried dumplings, expecting gyoza. First, we got these long after our meal was over. They looked homemade? But smelled of refrigerator when I lifted it to my nose. I ate one, because I felt guilty for wanting to pay the $8+ to order them. The dough was way too heavy, and I'm not sure what the mixture was inside. Very sweet. Definitely a bao inspired piece but thicker. I'm a bit anxious over the food storage given the smells of the dumplings and duration of buffet hours....hmm. Would we return? Better options that are worth the drive. It's been a few years since i visited and was in the mood for Chinese food. Not sure of what I wanted and remembering that they offer an expansive buffet, it was go time. The place was almost empty with only 2 tables occupied. The greeting was warm and inviting. Once seated, drinks were orded...water, tea and soft drinks are offered. As I made my way to the buffet, I noticed many dishes were low on inventory and looked aged. I collect multiple items to try and headed back to the table. Most of the items were Luke warm, dried out or mostly breading. I was frustrated and hungry. I decided soup may be my savior..I'm a big fan of egg drop. As I approached the buffet, one of the employees walked up with a container of soup that had been incorrectly placed with a to go order, he opened the lid and dumped it back into the buffet soup. This was my first time eating from here, I ordered on he phone for delivery, it took 40 min to receive my food, no biggie. Upon opening my plate I could see the rice was extremely bland. I ordered chicken wings with chicken fried rice. This was the weirdest whitest looking chicken I had ever seen, almost transparent. I picked that out. The rice was bland as I knew it would be. I've only been here twice. The last time was dinner several months ago. I believe I enjoyed the food or I wouldn't have gone back. This time most of the dishes on the buffet were cold or barely warm. To be fair it was after the lunch rush. They really should consider closing between lunch and dinner if the food is going to be left over for a couple hours. If they offered 1/2 lunch after 2pm that would be fair. They still need to keep food warm even if it's left over. I hope I don't get sick. read more

I grew up down the road from here, and remember when Lin's was an arcade. Then it was a take-out that was cheap and awesome -- 35 years ago. Lin's has gone up and down over the years. We actually started getting our take out from China Rose down the street. When Lin's leased out the other two stores and opened a buffet and dining room, we tried it out one afternoon. We left at around 3:15, and they charged us dinner prices (which at the time, were $2-3 more per person). We didn't go back for a long time. Now, the difference between lunch and dinner is about 50 cents, he he. We tried it again, because it's so close. It is now really good. The food is really good. You may not like all of it, but, there is plenty to choose from. I can't get everything that I want in one visit; not in a trip to the buffet -- but in a trip to the restaurant. Okay, so the cost. For two buffet's, and two drinks, after tax, is 29.05. Carry a nickle and leave a $3 tip, that's $32. That's $16 each. Not too bad considering that you get protein and vegetables! Not to mention that you get whatever you want, including fried fish and sushi! The dining room is good, too. Nothing too fancy, but you're not all on top of strangers. Even if all of the booths are taken, the tables are separated by wooden cubicles... except the ones along the windows, which are for larger groups. They also tint the windows and keep the lighting low in the dining area for a more cozy experience. Even for lunch. We love it. read more

Best Chinese food in Kernersville! Definitely worth checking this place out if you're in the area!

What better time than on the great American holiday of Labor Day to try a different Chinese buffet restaurant! And it was very, very good, very, very inexpensive, and offered a great number of choices - quite a few of which are not all that common in this area. This is a rather large, somewhat dimly lit restaurant with the seating broken up in one of those maze setup that gives you the feeling of a little privacy, and a little claustrophobia all at the same time. The buffet area itself is rather large, with a large variety to choose from. The Black Pepper Chicken and the Scallion Chicken are both excellent dishes, though somewhat milder than most I've tried. The Low Mein is among the best I've tried, no overpowering taste of garlic or sweetness, just a nice fresh taste with excellent noodles. The Chinese buffet staples of veggie Fried Rice, Chicken Wings, Gen'l Tso, and Pepper Steak were all very solid, if not exceptional. The Egg Roll here is very nice, especially for a buffet, where they tend to be soggy and tasteless - these were nice, fairly crisp outside, flavorful inside, not just all cabbage. The offered a dish called Crisp Salty Chicken which is very good - bite-size chunks of nice chicken battered, fried perfectly, with a nice salty taste - I'll get this again. Another chicken dish was Hot & Spicy Chicken, which while it had some heat, was also a little sweet. Also had several soup choices, and even some sushi items. Only disappointment was that that offered no spicy beef or pork dishes, at least not on this day. Overall though, I was impressed with both the variety and the quality. Folks who come here should expect a buffet of standard Americanized-Chinese dishes - no real exotic or spicy dishes - just nice Chinese comfort food. 2 lunches with hot tea cost $12.79 - even beats going to K & W, especially when you consider that it is all you can eat. I had the sesame chicken (very good), seafood stuffed clams and seafood casserole (excellent). Great sushi! But the sides and dessert- so much flavor! Excellent spinach casserole and breaded zucchini! The 7up lemon cake (which comes from a nearby bakery) was the best I've ever eaten. If you're like me when you go to a buffet you like to try a little of many items and I thoroughly enjoyed every item I tried. Don't eat here and if you do just know you're doing your community a disservice. Ordered food for delivery tonight, there was a slight miscommunication about a tip and the driver was suppose to receive her tip with the card purchase instead of cash. The owner refused to give her the tip, fought with her while we were on the phone, all while only paying her 2$ a delivery. This place sucks anyway and there are far better Chinese options locally. Don't support scumbag owners taking advantage of their workers. Pay them a livable wage or shut your place of business down. read more

Very happy with the redone Lin's Chinese buffet. I was a little nervous when my coworkers suggested a Chinese buffet for lunch- mainly due to the horror stories I have read on Yelp- I went along and am glad I did! We went before 11:30 and everything was hot and fresh. What a huge selection! There were about 4 different rows to choose from. There were a ton of hibachi and teriyaki items, flesh fruit and vegetables, traditional Chinese food items, dessert and even sushi. Some of the highlights were the boneless Chinese spareribs, black pepper chicken, scallion chicken, teriyaki chicken skewers, creamed spinach and stuffed mushrooms. I did have about 6 pieces sushi and it was fine - Cali type rolls. If I had room I would have eaten more. My coworkers loved the soups and the steamed white rice too. Waitress was young, friendly, cleaning plates as we went. Lunch was extremely reasonable, about $6 a person. I enjoyed my gut busting lunch and will return for sure! read more

Directions were incorrect (we reported to restaurant) and the food could not be recommended. The buffet was closed after lunch, we were there just after 5pm so we ordered off the menu. Chicken and Vegetable and Egg Fu Young both with Fried Rice both were bland and greasy. the "gravy" for the egg Fu Young was like nothing I had ever taste, something like strong soy sauce thickened. Inedible. We were the only diners in the restaurant for the entire time. The hostess/waitress was pleasant and personable so that's why I gave two stars. I hope the food is better on the buffet. I must say, coming here was quite an experience. "outside is finally opening up" and is was nice to get out and go to a buffet after a year and half due to pandemic. I am completely unsatisfied and disappointed. When we initially Got there we viewed the options and well looks can be deceiving. My husband and I agreed on it and decided to give it a try we sat down and there were several flies. We moved our seats twice just to get away from the flies, it was a total distraction. I have been coming here since I was a little girl and they have always done our family right! I remember their humble beginnings and coming back here brought back so many memories; I'm very pleased to see they have seriously upgraded :-) (I forgot to take pictures but next time I'm home, I'll be sure to!) The buffet is moderately sized and though they don't have an ordinary "sit down" menu, you are free to pick anything you want off of the buffet to go and they charge by weight. Super clean (no rank buffet floor smell...yawl know what I'm talking about), super friendly (no rude, high pitched talking-about-the-customers-in-their-language, then acting as if you are bothering them when you ask for anything) and super fresh/tasty selections. If you are looking for anything exotic or overly authentic, then don't come here. This is your basic Chinese restaurant with basic chinese food that you'd find anywhere, but it's the little things that, in my opinion, are hard to come by at a Chinese buffet. I've ordered takeout from Lin's kitchen on four separate occasions. I find their food to be average as far as Chinese/American food goes. The first time I ordered on of the dishes that was supposed to be 'spicy', but it was almost bland and certainly not spicy. I ordered it again the second time and requested that it be made extra spicy, but still bland and not at all spicy. The people are really nice there and I really want to like their food, but I just find it to be average and that is after I take it home and add flavor of my own to it. I'm sorry that I'm not able to recommend this restaurant, because I really want to like it. :( read more

Today was my first visit, and I was a bit worried at first that it was not busier at lunchtime on a Saturday. The restaurant is much smaller than it appears on the outside and it could certainly do with cosmetic sprucing up. However, it is scrupulously clean. The food was delicious, fresh, and they offered a decent variety. I was beyond impressed with the owners. They were friendly and gave amazing service. This is your typical american Chinese restaurant. They have a buffet and do orders to go . This is the best chineese in Kernersville, which is not saying much, but it is definitely a good deal. The prices are great. Sometimes the food gets stale on the buffet, but when fresh and hot they definitely have some good food. There is a good selection. Not the best for comfort or layout but it serves the purpose. For what it is, definitely worth a visit. read more

I must say that if you choose the fresher dishes, it tastes great. It's a shame they are not busier, cos then the food would be fresher and not often just sat there drying out. This is the first time that I went to Lin's kitchen, and I went there because all the other Chinese restaurants in the area have over time jacked their prices up and messed with their portion sizes. I only tried the wonton as a take out this time and I am pleased. Pleased to say that the broth was good, and the wontons plentiful.....and that at a price that beats all the competition! I am not a big fan of buffets but given that they have an extensive menu I will pay visit and try the menu items. As far as wonton soup goes, they are my first choice. read more
