We came in as 3 people and a toddler w/ a high hair. The hosts ask if you're in for hibachi or sushi side, we sat on the sushi side. They gave us menus and I assumed they didn't have a kids menu because I wasn't given one, I had asked the server about it and she went and retrieved one for us. The menu is confusing, as we learned while ordering there is a difference between hibachi and sushi. If you sit on the sushi side you CANNOT order from a certain part of the menu and vice versa. There should be separate menus for this. Throughout the service the server did a good job checking on us but at the end she had dirty tables and we were neglected. The guests sitting around us were given boxes, checks, and cashed out before we ever were. We sat there for quite a while before the server offered us dessert, which by that time we were way more than ready to just leave. I understand busy, but this server prebussed our table until we only had drinks while the guests around us tables were filthy, but those people were cashed out and they left. Then we saw her snipping at a busboy to clear her tables for her. For food, 2 of us got sushi rolls, 1 of us got a steak and vegetable, and the kids chicken meal. The sushi was yummy, the steak was horrible- just horrible, and the kids was a very good portion; my son only ate the rice so the rest of us ate his food. He wasn't a fan of the sauce on the chicken. Service goes a long way in a restaurant and it can make a bad meal seem ok as long as you're taken care of. We were disappointed. read more

Overall, a good experience that could have been great if not for lackluster staff attitude. Stepping into the restaurant, I'm impressed with the overall size and set up of KOBE. Lots of room and a very cool vibe. The staff is where KOBE takes its hit. Not friendly at all, they seemed to be barely doing the minimum to get by. The couple of staff I interacted with had no personality at all. Seemed like everyone around the store did not want to be there. The food was quickly brought out, which was notably impressive. It was also very good. We had teriyaki beef, chicken, and salmon which were all delicious, along with the soup and salad. The volcano and shrimp tempura rolls were also good and full of flavor. We have been coming to this restaurant for years, celebrating birthdays and bringing family and close friends because it used to be a place we trusted. After last night, we will never return. We were there for my husband's birthday, with our son and our close friends, and the experience was completely ruined. The table next to us was out of control -- screaming, slamming their fists on the table, and acting aggressively loud and belligerent. It was so bad that we had to yell just to talk to the person sitting right beside us. Even our cook struggled to prepare our meal because of how disruptive they were. What made everything worse was the total lack of action from the staff. Not one employee stepped in. No one asked that table to calm down. The cook preparing their food didn't seem to care how disruptive they were being. No one checked on us, acknowledged the situation, or made any attempt to protect the dining environment. This is supposed to be a family restaurant, not a bar. Yet the atmosphere felt chaotic, uncomfortable, and completely inappropriate for families. We were so upset we couldn't even finish our meal. After years of choosing this place for special occasions, last night made it clear that we can no longer support an establishment that shows such disregard for its customers and their experience. We stopped by for lunch on Sunday. The rolls were excellent (as usual). The presentation was stepped up of our food was raised to a new level. It looked delicious and tasted better than it looked. I had the Volcano Roll and my wife had the Baked Grizzly Roll. We began our meal with an appetizer order of Spring rolls (5). The service is exceptional as usual. I've ate at this Kobe since 2018. It has been going downhill for a number of years. The food has gotten worse over time and the customer service is now horrendous. On my latest visit I walked in around 5:00 pm to pick up the order I phoned in. After walking in, I stood at the front desk area for about ten minutes as various staff and servers walked around ignoring me. Finally a lazy, apathetic, fat kid stumbled out of the bathroom and approached the front desk area. I told him my name and that I was there to pick up my order. He checked on it with the sushi men and then walked away. After more waiting he eventually walked back tot the sushi area, stated my name, and placed the bags on the counter, once again walking away. I specifically asked for them to include soy sauce in my order because I was on the road, but no surprise they didn't include any! I think as customers purchasing expensive Japanese food we deserve better than this. I would encourage everyone that's had a negative experience at this location to reach out to their corporate headquarters and complain. I know I will as of tomorrow! Customers deserve better. A USED bandaid in my stir fry veggies! I ordered the most expensive steak on the menu and when my vegetables were plated at the hibachi table there was a USED bandaid in them! I was disgusted! I told the chef and he just laughed it off. I HAD TO ASK for a new plate of veggies. When the server asked how everything was I told her about the bandaid. She asked the manager to discount my bill and the request was denied. The manager never talked to me or apologized. The server shared that they have a new chef and this wasn't the first plate she had to send back. Review of take out sushi after re-open (after Covid-19): Grizzly Baked Roll: $18.55 Shrimp tempura, crab inside and topped with avocado, scallops, crawfish & crab. It was pretty tasty and had so many different kinds of seafood. Crazy Dog: $16.55 Salmon, cream cheese, shrimp tempura inside and topped with crab, tempura flakes, spicy mayo & eel sauce. Pretty good roll but wasn't too keen on the large chunks of cream cheese inside. Overall, the sushi's quality and taste were pretty good -- I am a bit picky too. Both of these rolls were served in one "to go" tray which is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 .... because if I'm paying over $35 for 2 rolls, then they should be a decent size. These were small rolls for the price I paid, which barely fed 2 adults (we were still hungry when we finished). The "specialty rolls" average $16-19, which is on the higher price of sushi, especially considering the locale & the amount of food you actually get. When I went inside to get the food, the staff were very friendly. Before I left, I peeked in the bag to make sure I had soy sauce--I saw only one pair of chopsticks. So, that reinforces the portion size: maybe they really did think that only one person was going to eat these 2 rolls (it was possible!). The menu was a little complicated to read but it was do-able. The choices of having either noodles or fried rice were a little unclear. The Kobe steak apparently wasn't tender enough, and tasted like the other steak that was half the price. I was t the one to try it but that is what I was told. The staff was upper nice though. If you know my work here on Yelp you know I am a pretty positive reviewer. But this one will not be. The food tasted pretty good. It was not seasoned the way it has been at other hibachi restaurants. But every place does it a little different. Our salmon sashimi was good but the "chef" did not cook it. Lol!! There was a full table around the hibachi and our chef looked more like a mountain man than a sushi chef. But again every place is different. He began cooking and set out 2 extra plates on the side. Which was confusing to us. As he began cooking the food he cut was cut all different sizes. My filet had a 2 inch cube and some 1/2 in cube pieces. Very Inconsistent. My husband ordered scallops and shrimp, even though the chef cooked several my husband got 6; the remaining scallops he divided between the other 2 extra plates. Our friends were at the end of the circle and as he served the veggies he kept serving less and less and still put some on the extra plates. So our friends barely had any vegetables. This was the first time I have been to Japanese hibachi restaurant and left hungry. After everything was cooked and served we asked for yum yum sauce and then we were served the sauce in kind of a hurry. When we left we saw the chef and his daughter eating at the bar the food that he had cooked. Which would be fine if we hadn't gotten gypped on our portions. Our experience was horrible! My husband, 1 year old son and I came to eat and our waitress forgot about us the entire time. There was three other people seated next to us, who received the best service and not one thing was forgotten. Meanwhile, our drinks and my sushi order were not even ordered. When the bill was brought, the waitress included the sushi order. I explained it was never brought out and she did not apologize or offer to put in the order. We ordered filet stake, crazy dog roll and sushi sampler The stake cooked very well, but it is very plain, need to add a lot salt and pepper to be able to eat it Crazy dog roll is very good The only cons is their service, their server are friendly, but suppppper slow, everything is very slow I will not recommend this place if you are in a hurry read more
