Stopped by on a quiet Wednesday evening. Service was friendly and great! I was so happy to see they had a menu section of vegetarian rolls! Saw the new menu posted by somebody with ramen listed and wanted to try food from new menu. Thought of ramen, but was not in the mood for it. Instead got the classics Caterpillar Roll and Spider Roll. Also got agedashi tofu. Service was good and food came out right away, not a long wait. Already know they have a different version of the Caterpillar Roll, but still wanted to try it. Typically, it has crab mix and unagi/eel or tempura shrimp inside. Theirs has tempura shrimp and cream cheese. For me, it was an odd combo. The tanginess of the cream cheese and how much they put overpowers the other flavors of the roll. The unagi on top was crispy compared to some I've had before that are soft and chewy at the same time. The Spider Roll was better, but again the soft shell crab inside was super crispy and missed the softness of the crab meat part in middle of crab. The agedashi tofu lacked salt and maybe some pepper. Had to dip in soy sauce. Ate everything. Don't like wasting food. For the price, had better quality food at other places with same price point. Will not come back for the rolls. The restaurant wasn't busy around dinner time and our party of three were immediately led to a table. But then again it shouldn't be difficult to remember one order of chicken teriyaki bento and two beef teriyaki bento. The servings were generous. Since Covid I been used ordering from doordash and never had a issues. This was one of my first time dining in the restaurants. The restaurant was a good size with one big table in the front and a few smaller tables along the side of the restaurants. We was greeted by a hostess/servicer. She was really nice and ask if we wanted to sit by the sushi bar. I wanted a table and there was not hesitation she lead us to the table. We was able to put our order in rather quickly and our drinks. I wasn't paying attention to how long we sat there but it didn't seem long at all. The food we order was really good and had good flavor. My husband got the bento box but and it came with the tempera. That was a bonus since not many other sushi restaurants offers that anymore. My wife ordered sushi with miso soup for our son but we received just water with fish sauce. Where was the tofu? I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this restaurant. I have never encountered a situation where miso soup is served without tofu. When I called to inquire, I was told that sometimes the soup contains a lot of tofu and sometimes none at all. That response was both surprising and unsatisfactory. Consistency is a basic expectation, especially when customers are paying a high premium cost for a standard menu item. Unfortunately, there was no effort made to resolve the issue. This lacks of quality control and customer service is very disappointing. I will not be returning to his restaurant and cannot recommend this restaurant to others. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve both product consistency and customer service. I give this restaurant a zero star. read more

The sushi was okay. I was craving sushi and I knew the best place to curb my craving was California. I found this place near my hotel and decided to try it out since it had decent reviews. I ordered the Mt Fuji and Crunch Roll. When I walked in they took my ordered right away. The restaurant was completely empty except for like 2-3 other people. The gentleman that took my order was super friendly and when I asked if he could bring me a cup of ice water to go, and I mentioned that I was going to use it to fill up my water bottle, he offered to fill up my water bottle for me. The sushi is not as aesthetically pleasing as I believe it would've been had I had ordered in the restaurant because I walked back to my hotel. But my deep fried rolls were still piping hot. The Fuji roll had fried chicken in it and it was crispy and flavorful a solid 9/10 I would order it again. The Crunch Roll was odd because it was "deep fried" and supposed to have a crunch yet there was none. I tried to crack it up to the fact that I had walked back to my hotel and it probably got soggy on the way. But for one the other roll was still crisp and two it should not have softened that quick. Also the mixture inside wasn't all that pleasing, it was too much of the crab and creamy cheese mixture, personally too much creaminess for me. I would rate that one a 2/10. The food was ready and the cashier was really friendly. The sushi rolls themselves are fairly average in terms of pricing, about $10.95 for a decent variety and $10 if you're looking for more basic rolls. They have a lot of delicious looking rolls. I opted for the Sunrise roll, which was pretty good. I had no idea it was a fried roll, so that was a bit of a surprise. My review is based off the experience we had tonight with one server. A young man with dark curly hair. He was by far the worst most unprofessional server I have ever seen. It was not appropriate at all for him to curse and have a hissy fit in the restaurant while there were two tables with children in them, he was slamming down place settings on tables, and was not attentive to any of his tables. We needed place settings for the 4 of us, and he brought 1 set of chopsticks and napkins.. how is that helpful when we have hot soup?! This is by far the worst experience I have ever had her. Took my parents from Japan here since they like all the cool sushi chefs come up with over here in America. Sushi tasted fine and had no complaints over that, but the custOmer service was poor. Server skills to walk us to table was fine, it was everything else. 1/2 way through our meal I grabbed a piece of my father-law's nigiri and it had multiple pieces of black hair embedded in the rice. I quietly brought this to the attention of our server on the side since it was gross and embarrassing. I'm not easily squeamish and more stuff In life could take me out aside from a human hair. Server grabbed the piece and came back with a replacement plus an additional. I'm not clear on the process when something like this happens, but they missed one huge thing about this. It was after 8pm but I didn't want to settle for fast food so I stopped for sushi. Before ordering, I browsed the online menu and to my surprise there were plenty of great options and authentic Japanese cuisine. And prices were super reasonable! Seemed too good to be true. I ordered 3 rolls and miso soup. At pickup, although it was close to closing time I was greeted at the door and paid for my meal. The food was quality and satisfying, and I'm already looking forward to dining in at my next visit. I give 5 stars for the great food + service, however I only received 2 of the 3 rolls that I ordered. Our second suburban sushi adventure was mediocre at best. We were originally trying to eat at C.F. Chengs but with a full room and a wait, we decided on the next open restaurant in the area. The BF ordered the sashimi and hand roll dish. I give the Sashimi 4 stars. They were pretty big cuts of fish. Totally didn't skimp out; which was nice. The hand roll didn't spark any comments from the BF. He just said that it was OK and that he's had better. I ordered the spider roll and requested salmon on top of the roll. The presentation of this dish was just plain boring. No special sauces drizzled over...just blah! AND it tasted blah. Without any special sauces, it tasted dry. The soft shell crab tasted stale like it was fried earlier that day and then added to my roll. I like that the waiter was attentive and checked up on us, however, it was annoying how every time I finished my glass of water he asked if I wanted more. Well...DUH! Of course I want more! Usually, my water glass is refilled without asking. The BF said he'd come back for the sashimi since they gave him such big pieces.
