Stopped in for lunch, wife had a great burger and onion rings. I tried the Chicken Fried Steak with a baked potato. It was definitely homemade, not a Sysco frozen job but a little under seasoned. But I liked that they serve the gravy on side. The service was excellent, with plenty of iced tea refills. Also, enjoyed a slice of lemon meringue pie. It's cash only so be prepared. Other reviews mentioned slow service but we rolled in at around 1:30 pm on Sat and were seated immediately and waited a few minutes for our server which allowed us to use the clean restrooms. Really good stuff!!!! We hit up Koffee Kup on the way back from Fredericksburg...Had heard about it, but were very glad we stopped... We split chicken livers and a jalapeno cream cheese burger...Both were great...bread on the burger was delicious...Gravy for the livers was great...Delicious home cooking... And now the pie...sugar-free coconut meringue...WOW...absolutely delicious...more of a custardy filling than you usually get and it was GREAT...My husband loved his pecan pie, too... Yes this is typical "home made" food you may find around Texas in small little towns, as the Country Kitchen in Lampasas, the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, Maxine's Cafe in Bastrop, or Ham & Eggs in Lewisville. That said, I don't expect a place like this to cook me a gourmet meal, just honest, good tasting fare I will enjoy and will come back to enjoy over and over again. And yes I will be back at the Koffee Kup. The burgers, a Bleu Cheese and a Jalapeno Cream Cheese Burger were tasty and cooked to perfection, mine being cooked exactly medium rare as I ordered it. The steak fries excellent and the onion rings from out of this world. Yes some of it needed a bit more spices, but this is my personal taste and I can easily adjust that. Less salt and pepper is somewhat the norm in every diner. If there is some space left in your tummy after the succulent burgers try one of their 16 different pies - they will make your heart sing and will make you remember your grandma's cooking. My wife and I stopped in to eat. We asked if they took credit cards and they said no. They only took cash or checks and that if we didn't have enough cash or a check, we could mail it to them. I thought was pretty cool. So, I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with Fried Okra. It was very delicious. Just the right amount of breading and very tender. Wife ordered a Club sandwich with Onion Rings and she said they were delicious as well. I did the Onion Rings and they were great. We also took a slice of pie to go we could eat it later as we were stuffed. It was a slice of "The Doctors Office" and was amazingly delicious. We well be stopping by more often. read more

My family and I stopped at the Koffee Kup on our way home from Marble Falls. The food was wonderful! I had the Chicken Fried Steak with Gravey and a Baked Potato. My husband had a Burger. Our boys had the Chicken Strips and Onion Rings. We each ordered a different Pie for dessert. We had the Coconut Cream, Lemon Meringue, Peanutbutter and Key Lime. Everything was delicious!!!! We even ordered more pie to take home! The service was also great, our waitress was always smiling and cheerful. My husband wanted a Coke to go and she brought us all a dink to go! Having driven by this restaurant numerous times, my wife and I decided to stop in for lunch on March 19. We both ordered the chicken fried steak as one of the reviews said it was very good. Our experience was awful. The breading on the chicken fried steak was good but my wife could not cut hers with a steak knife. Mine was ok around the edges but the majority was also tough as shoe leather. The waitress noticed that my wife was having a tough time cutting her steak with the table knife and she brought her a steak knife which did nothing to improve the issue. We pointed the toughness out to the waitress but obviously she was more interested in getting us out the door than comping the awful meal. At least now we know to not stop here again. Stopped in for a late lunch on my way to Hamilton. Ordered a grilled cheese and cup of soup, expecting just a bland but quick meal. It did come quickly but was not bland. The soup was full of vegetables and very flavorful and the sandwich was buttery. I didn't have pie but everybody else in the place was enjoying theirs. The Koffee Kup Cafe, is a great place... I've read lots of good reviews and negative reviews! I love the town Hico Texas! It's got a phenomenal school, and the locals are friendly.... If you are! Here's my qualm, so many of you either received bad service or dried cornbread, maybe your chicken fried steaks had a bit more batter on it than you liked .. Did ya' think for once ... For once at all... Maybe ... They just didn't like you when you walked through the door? Maybe they just don't care if you come back at all! Stopped by this place last summer (July 2016) on the way to my daughters house because the sign said FRESH strawberry pie. Don't fall for it (GOOD or GREAT was left out of the title for a reason) it was the worst strawberry pie we ever tried to eat. My wife and daughter love strawberry pie but this is made with some sort of gelatin inside it and you will heave after putting it in your mouth. Warning they do not have it sitting out that you can actually see a piece before buying it also. read more

Sorry to say, but I will NOT be back. Called in a salad order tonight and the young lady who answered the phone said 'who is this?' Vs. can I get your name. Ok. When I went in the restaurant to get my meal, the guy at the counter didn't even say hello. I told him I was there to pick up an order and he turned and was gone for at least 5 mins-to get a salad I called in 35 mins earlier. I had a straight shot into the kitchen from my view and the larger blonde headed lady in the kitchen repeatedly coughed into her hands and then proceeded to handle food and specifically the rolls that were in a drawer with her coughed on hands. Ok. Then j saw the waitress get into the roll drawer and get them out with her 'cash' hands. I turned around and walked out without collecting my food. Go in the place and they say no credit cards which is ridiculous in 2014. They do have an ATM so they can make money off of getting you to access your money, but they act like they are doing you a favor which is just obnoxious. Sit down at 11:15 am on a Saturday and the menu literally says "Breakfast All Day Except from 11am-2pm" huh? It's Saturday morning and all I wanted was some pancakes, I've taken out my damn money and now my options are burgers, enchiladas or whatever "home cookin'" they have, none of which looked appetizing at 11am in the MORNING on a Saturday. Then I go in the men's room and their is piss everywhere. They have another men's room, but the lock doesn't work on that door so someone walked in on me. Went back to my table and paid for my coffee and left. The food may be good, but everything else their was so awful I couldn't even make it to ordering. If this place at least updates their service to 1995 standards I may give it another shot, but this was a loss on my end...and a huge waste of time. read more

This place is dirty and disgusting. We should have left as soon as we got water delivered to the table, when it was water from the tap and cloudy and sour. My husbands side salad was delivered and it was a small bowl of wilted brown ice rug lettuce and about 5 small diced tomato pieces. Then they brought my family's dinner, but forgot my food. (Chicken nachos) 15 minutes go by, then the manager brings me dollar store chips, with melted velveeta and tiny cuts of chicken gristle. It was absolutely disgusting. No pico, guacamole, sour cream or salsa. The manger didn't apologize and stay to talk, but instead went to some friends of hers at another table to continue her conversation. My husband ended up getting sick about 12 hours later, and he has an iron stomach. read more

Koffee Kup is a traditional Texas diner that serves burgers, chicken fried steak, chicken and a very limited tex-mex menu and pies. Your best bet if you ever end up at this place is to stick with fried foods. The chicken fry was good. The gravy was good. The french frys are thick cut steak frys and are just OK. The onion rings looked amazing but I did not have any. The tex-mex is a horrid nightmare. My daughter had cheese enchiladas. They were made from oily cheddar cheese wrapped in two corn tortillas and then covered with melted velveeta. It was so bad my daughter literarily started gagging when she tried to eat it. The service was beyond horrible. The chicken fried steaks were supposed to come with rolls, a side and a salad. What seemed like two minutes after we ordered, Lupe set down our french frys and chicken fried steaks. I asked about the salads. Lupe said she basically did not have time for that and she would make them to go. If you are reading this going . . .what? I still am too. When we paid out, I asked somewhat jokingly if I got a discount for the portion she did not have time to bring. Lupe got so ugly about it that I just went ahead and let her have those salads and rolls as her tip. This place was a lousy value with three adult meals, a kids meal and one piece of pie costing about $48.00 dollars. So if you find yourself in Hico, just keep going. read more

Stopped in with a few Corvette Club friends for lunch on Saturday, November 9, 2019 after touring the Billy the Kid Museum (which is fantastic by the way) and checking out the local shops. The lunch portions were huge and perfectly scrumptious. My husband and I split the Chicken Fried Steak, lots of batter but not greasy at all. I had the fried okra, it was wonderful. A few at our table had the onion rings, which were huge and yummy and again, not greasy. But the PIE, the PIE is out of this world wonderful. The Coconut Meringue Pie and the Black Forest Pie were perfect. Large portions and how they get the meringue piled that high is beyond me. You DEFINITELY need to stop into this amazing little restaurant. Sorry, no photos, we were too busy eating the delicious food. The prices were beyond reasonable too. Our waitress took very good care of us and made sure our ice tea and waters were kept full. The burger comes on a fresh made bun that they make there. It tastes exactly like a dinner roll, but not a good one. I ate half the burger which needs to be cooked with salt and pepper!! I left the other half simply because the bun ruined it. It's small, crowded, and service is slow due to this. My boyfriend got the chicken fried steak which was very bland due to a lack of being cooked with seasonings. The steak fries were pretty good. If you are on two wheels, you get waited on pronto. Unfortunately we weren't. Waited over an hour for two hamburgers that never showed while everyone (bikers!) around us got their food in ten minutes. We asked about our food, two more orders ahead of us. B.S.-we left angry. Two large groups behind us were seated while we stood at the front of the line. We were. Offered an opportunity to sit with another couple with at a 4-top. . Had the fried chicken liver and their famous onion rings. The fried chicken liver were very flavorful and very large. I was expecting just floured and fried but these were actually chicken fried; not bad. The onion rings were good but I didn't think the were worthy of famous; I have had better at several restaurants. The Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Pie was delicious and I would get it again. One of the best peanut butter pies I have had. The Black Forest pie my wife had was good but not as good as some others she has had. read more

Burger was ok, definitely not the best I've had and not worth going out of the way. Looking around the restaurant the service was definitely hit or miss. We lucked out and received an attentive waitress. The table behind me didn't fare so lucky and saw several people seated after them get served first. The biggest complaints I have are the prices are high and they only take cash or check. Paid an extra 2.20 for two small slices of bacon on my burger. They also don't take debit or credit cards. If my wife didn't happen to have her checkbook with her we would not have been eating there(although that may not have been a bad thing). They did have an ATM machine there, but it will charge you a fee that I'm 99% sure goes to the business owners. All in all an ok burger and not worth going out of your way for. read more

When we first sat down my husband ordered a sweet tea and the waitress responded with "nope". That was the beginning of our horrible experience. I had the chicken fried steak that was mainly all crust with no flavor. When we were done our meal came with a "homemade dessert", thinking we got to pick our pie. I was wrong. It came with a set pie. I asked if I could sub it out and she replied with "no". Therefore we spent more money ordering the pie we wanted. When we were finished we went up to pay and tried to use our card. They only take cash or a check.... nothing stated that anywhere on the door or outside!!!! We went to a Memorial Service and stopped by the Koffee Kup on a Sat afternoon. The salads were fresh and the dressings were delicious. My hubby had fried chicken livers and he said the were delicious. I had chick fried steak, the batter and the gravy was yummy, the steak very tough. The chocolate meringue pie, yummy! My wife and I had our reception in April covered by Koffee cup here in San Antonio. Not only did they do a rush order on nearly twenty pies right before the wedding, they also had an employee drive the pies all the way down to San Antonio the morning of the wedding so that everything was fresh. My only regret is that our guests ate all the pies before my wife and I could get more than a piece. read more

I was totally disappointed in the customer service my husband and I received. The waitresses passed our table several times, never greeting us. About 30 minutes one gave us a menu after she gave one to 4 other couples came in. Our table was next to the front counter so it wasn't as if they couldn't see us. It took another 30 minutes just to get our food (hamburger, fries and one slice of pie to share) while others came and left. The burger was okay but the pie wasn't so. The crust was soggy, the meringue had separated from the filling with dots of liquid within it as if it was several days old. Asked the owners at the counter about our order. They didn't know. It appears the server never turned it in.
