Searching for a quick breakfast while in Oakland, and this place popped up in my Apple Maps search... and I'm happy to say that I am glad it did! After driving to the address, I was a little hesitant (because it was so small & seemed like a hole in the wall (an actual description (but with positive connotations) by another reviewer). Instead of driving off, I took the time to read the reviews: "neat as a pin", "breakfast done right every time I need it", etc. etc. so I went in. I ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon & hash browns, with coffee. It was served incredibly fast, and was quite delicious. I'm of the old diner/cafe style breakfast generation & love a good cup of coffee and a simple breakfast well cooked... and THAT is what I received. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just hearty food served in a super clean environment. CAN'T GO WRONG if you're of the same opinion regarding diner style food. Enjoy!!! read more

Was surprised to see Loco Moco and bulgogi listed. My waffles came out crispy just how I like them. Although it said seasonal fruit there was no fruit accompanying my waffle but was dusted with powdered sugar and one pat of butter that never melted and a little tin of syrup...actually needed a bit more. My sister was thrilled to find Loco Moco right here in Oakland. Raving about this original Hawaiian dish. Large portions and so delicious. We luckily got the one table by the window on the inside of the restaurant. There were two other single tables so it's tight quarters with a lot of people coming to pick up. So I have been on a mission to explore more and more bay area eats as I realized I have gotten pretty comfortable with my standard "go tos". I realized that I have my normal brunch spots but not one that is much "Asian fusion" which is where Koffee pot which steps in the latest edition of brunch eats. The plus of this joint is that it happened to be open at an early time on a Saturday which was a huge plus where the market is mostly open at 9 AM earliest. When I made my way over to this spot, I was surprised because I had literally passed it a million times as it is right on the way to koreana plaza. This place is a cozy fit with a few counter sits, a few tables, and then a few outside tables. It is located literally on the main "busy area" of Kono. Parking is on the street and can be plenty especially at this time. The menu has a fusion flare but also some of the good ole classics like eggs (any style), French toast, etc. The service is quick, friendly and perfect for the low key AM. For this meal, we went for the Q's benedict and the spicy loco moco. Both dishes did not take long to come out and was easy to wait with a cup of good coffee. The Benedict is your classic rendition but with a spicy flair tot eh hollandaise sauce. The potato on the side is crisped deliciously and solid version. The spicy loco hit the exact spot I was looking for. It came with sausage, eggs, and spam topped off with basil (which was on top of the benedict too). The gravy was just a tad watery but it was a solid rendition of the dish. I loved the basil as it added some fun for the scent and taste. This is a solid local spot that I definitely recommend and will check out myself. I totally lost count of how many hot sauce bottles they have on their counter. It ran across the entire perimeter of the counter. SO COOL. (I am a sauce fiend, if ya didn't know.) I forget why I bookmarked this place, but I'm sure glad I did. I must have driven by a dozen time but would never have expected this little shop on the corner to have some of the best food and service in the area. It was a two-man/woman show when I was there for breakfast last week. They were doing steady business for a weekday, which I was surprised to see. Our host/server extraordinaire took care of the entire front of house AND looked to be the single dishwasher as well. One friendly guy in the back took care of all the cooking. Such hardworkers and they did not skip a beat, which I give them props for. It's not easy servicing a full cafe with just two people. Their menu consists of all the usual breakfast foods, as well as french toast and waffles. They also offer Korean fare (bulgogi, spicy pork) and Hawaiian classics (loco moco). There were a lot of people stopping in for a breakfast sandwich too and for around $6, it's hard not to see why. The food was delicious and fresh. I would definitely return. read more

This is a tiny Breakfast spot that looks like it's in the hood of Oakland..lol(probably used to be) I think it got turned into Korean town, As for the little hole in the wall, there was two tables and three patio tables and a mini bar, It's a simple little restaurant, with a efficient and quick server, American breakfast with a Korean twist, pretty good flavors, the Waffles are not that good though, And I didn't like the fact they didn't have fresh OJ, which in my opinion, every legit breakfast spot should have... The spicy scrambler with grits was pretty good, although not spicy at all, The waffle was missing more waffle mix. They cook it to medium well which is preferred because its usually ooooozing with sauce and American cheese. Unfortunately, they brought out the wrong order and it was just normal Loco Moco (which was still pretty solid). A friend had ordered the bulgogi bowl, and as a Korean, I'm a bulgogi doesn't move the needle for me. However, the bulgogi here is amazeballs. And I hate the word amazeballs, but it sums up my feelings right now. The place is really small and so the service is really slow. We waited 20 minutes for our orders to be taken and another 15 for our coffee/waters. I would advise against groups of more than 3 unless sitting outside in the cold weather is your thing. If it is, more power to you! I do hope to come back and try some of the other offerings, but the slow service gives me some pause. read more

My family and I were looking for a brunch spot in Berkeley that didn't have a long wait, and given it was graduation weekend we wanted to avoid the long wait time at some of the more popular brunch joints in Berkeley (aka Berkeley Social Club, La Note) so we settled on Koffee Pot. I honestly wasn't expecting much from this place especially since the place didn't look too nice from the outside, but man looks can surely be deceiving haha... The food at Koffee Pot is TOP NOTCH. I order the bulgogi rice plate. The flavor and seasoning on the tender cuts of beef were irresistible. A lot of the time when I order bulgogi at Korean restaurants, it tends to be overwhelmingly sweet, but Koffee Pot's bulgogi was cooked to perfection! They even give you a hearty portion of meat, a couple eggs, and a generous serving of rice. My parents ordered the Loco Moco and an omelette. They were both really satisfied with their orders! I tried a few bites of the Loco Moco and I was really impressed with the flavor I would highly recommend checking out this hole in the wall brunch spot in Oakland. This is a very cute spot with several tables on the sidewalk for service. Staff was very helpful and kind. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on an English muffin and it came out hot and fresh; the fried egg had a nice crisp edge, the sausage was seared perfectly, with very melty cheese on a sandwich that didn't immediately fall apart in my hands. Downside is that I didn't see a drink menu. Other people got drip coffee but there wasn't an official specialty drink option. You know the phrase "big things come in small packages"? That's Koffee Pot! Hands down my favorite breakfast spot in the US. I am having serious Koffee Pot cravings now that I am back in Texas. Like, I wish y'all would open a location here. I'll manage it and help with the logistics. I miss the way they made my eggs perfectly medium scrambled. I miss their homemade sausage links. The hash browns are always perfectly fresh and crispy on the outside. The pancakes are better than my Mom's. The menu is diverse and has something for everyone with Asian flare. They also have an extensive tea selection. The location is easy to find. Directly across from the big Beauty Supply. Probably seat only 12 people max inside but they also have several tables outside. I was always solo so I went to the bar and squeezed in if I had to. Parking is simple - there are spots on the main street right in front, spots across the street in front of the beauty supply, spots down the sides streets. Figure it out or take a Lyft/Uber. The only thing I believe they don't have is a restroom then again I never asked for one and my apartment is really close. Can't wait to visit Oakland again soon. This adorable, and quite literal, "hole in the wall," was certainly a surprise to me. We checked out their super simple near-greasy spoon menu and decided to give it a shot. They have a few tables outside on the street which is great, because inside it's super small, with about three two tops and a small counter/bar area. The unexpected thing was the owner/chef came out to make sure she understood my needs, offer betterments to my lower carb benny. She returned to follow up at the end to make sure I enjoyed it all, if I'd want anything differently. This is rare attention, but I'll take it!
