Really got screwed from these guys. They promised the world and delivered garbage to me. To start off, these guys wasted 2 weeks off the bat by delaying the start date. This is AFTER I paid them a deposit ($1,000). Before I left the deposit, I got text and phone call responses almost immediately and after my deposit was given the guy ghosted me. The owner called me back days after apologizing and saying that he's here and will make it right because its his brand and name. After a couple of weeks of communication battles of Jake, the owner ghosting me as well, he called me and told me about this team meeting they just had about my property and how they're coming out tomorrow to start and make things right...lol. What a joke...i'm still waiting on them to "start" I tried to dispute the charge from my CC company for the $1,000 deposit and they're saying that since the contract is in their favor, I cannot do anything about it. The company does not pick up, answer text or care to refund me my money. As they are license, bonded and insure, they seem like they can be trusted, but believe me...don't fall for this BS. I received multiple quotes from pond and landscape companies on yelp. They all wanted to create a pond the way they knew how rather than listening to what I wanted. All the quotes I received were also insanely high. Jake was the only quote I received that was willing to do the design and layout that I had envisioned at a reasonable and fair price. Stay away from this company. Unreliable and untrustworthy. Constantly lying. Hired to build pool and spa back in March 2021 and presently not done. Excavated my property without obtaining permit 3 months later. I had to check with my city hall and follow up myself to make sure they do their job that included scheduling inspection and reinspecions. Pool equipments electrical plumbing gas line not installed. No attempt to get pool ready for preplaster inspection. These guys don't even know simple math. Paid for 15 x 36 feet pool. So far measurement is 14 x 33 feet. Not only that but he's doing this to multiple people, please do not hire this company, they will rob you and Mickey Mouse an entire project. They have left so much undone and left mounds of trash around the house. They do not respond quick and I have a feeling it's some sort of Ponzi scheme. Jake Brodsky is a pathological liar who cannot be trusted to complete a job, much less complete the job correctly. Mostly because he does not keep his word (as all the negative reviews on this page attest to) and because he does not verify his crew's work -- AT ALL. I have endless text messages telling him he needs to come to the job site every once in a while and confirm that the job is getting done properly, let alone getting done at all but he wouldn't show up, or would show up hours late, completely disrespectful of my work schedule. I'm not sure how much other people have invested in Jake, but we have invested a substantial amount of money into this project that he reassured us would get done...do I even need to state the obvious? IT DIDN'T GET DONE. There are a TON of imperfections, tile cut improperly (because they were freehanding it instead of using a stable surface) And in addition to that, we ended up paying an additional $8,000 for material on top of a $72,000 invoice because he didn't properly measure the jobsite. Scary, right? Shouldn't that be a pretty simple thing for a LICENSED CONTRACTOR to be able to do? He breached his contract in many ways, but one of the most terrifying ways is by stating that he is an expert in this type of project, but then later admits this is outside his scope of work. I will say Jake definitely talks a big game and is quite a salesman, but when it comes to execution and skill of the actual project, he knows absolutely nothing. Jake Brodsky was also using our checks to pay other customer invoices rather than paying OUR invoices for supplies, etc. I know this because I called Resources Building Material, which is where he told us to get the pavers from. and spoke with Brenda, his favorite rep there, and she told me that the checks I wrote, were only partially getting paid on my invoices, which is why my pavers were so behind -- the invoices weren't being paid. Jake told me that the pavers weren't getting delivered because Resources was having an issue with their trucks. Brenda told me that is false. She told me that they had been fronting our material to Jake until he paid the invoice but had to stop until the invoices were fully paid. So then the question is, where is our money going? When I approached Jake about this, he admitted to floating money around different projects. Essentially, I'm funding someone else's project and not getting mine completed. Something else to consider before hiring Jake is that he has a known/active heroin addict on his crew that he continues to bring to job sites and allows to work on people's yards, making him quite a liability to a home owner for several reasons. If he brings someone named Trent to your job site, absolutely send them all away. Jake already has zero respect for your project if he sends Trent. Jake isn't a clean cut person, either. He has shown up to our jobsite high, eyes blood shot red (even in the morning) and moving/walking at a snail's pace. You will see the difference of a sober Jake versus a high Jake Brodsky incredibly fast. The biggest thing to take into consideration is that Jake stole the DBA from his high school friend (OCIP) who fired him as his subcontractor because he was unreliable and unprofessional (again, as all the other negative reviews attest to). I spoke with the owner of the real OCIP, Tyler, who gave me the entire back story. When I called OCIP, I thought I would reach someone above Jake when it turns out, Jake was fired more than a year ago from the company. The real OCIP is called Orange County Interlocking Pavers, but Jake, being the snake that he is, coined the name Orange County Integrity Pavers to mislead any customers - worked for us. I thought I was hiring the real OCIP with all the wonderful reviews across all the platforms, not the knockoff OCIP that doesn't know how to lay down pavers. Scary, right? Orange County Integrity (which is honestly a joke considering how disrespectful he is) Pavers...PAVERS. How are pavers outside of your scope of work but you are using this as your DBA? So because of all of this, we had to fire Jake and bring in anther contractor to properly complete this job. I brought in many other contractors to bid the the remainder of this job and everyone said the same thing: the pavers are not laid down properly. So on top of a simple job that should have taken 3-4 weeks at most that has now been in process for almost 12 weeks, we need to pay another contractor almost $15k + another 3-4 weeks to correct the mistakes that Jake and his crew did to our project. We also have filed a complaint with the Contractor's License Board and will be going to arbitration for this matter. I recommend this for everyone here was that was screwed over by Jake and his crew. FANTASTIC AND AMAZING, Jake and his crew have helped us with two projects over the past few months. First, they did an overhaul of our large Koi pond which looks GREAT now and just this weekend, they did a renovation of our large (40 ft) water feature in front of our house and it looks better than ever. My fiancé and I purchased our home in Orange. There was a cool long stream with a little waterfall going into the pond in the backyard. We noticed it needed some TLC but that didn't stop us from buying our home. We began getting quotes to clean, upgrade or just remove the pond, especially when we noticed it started leaking. I had 2-3 different companies check it out and gave me quotes, but none of them seemed to care what we wanted. Their prices were outrageous for what they wanted to do. I'm no pond specialist but I just used common sense. I was getting a quote for outdoor lighting, and he recommended I call Koi Masters ( Jake ) Boy, am I super happy I did. He showed up day one on time with his straw hat on and gave me all my options, asked me what I wanted, gave me his input on what he thought would be the best option and asked what kind of budget we had to work with. We checked him out online and noticed he didn't have any reviews, however his ideas impressed me far more than the other companies I had come out. So, we went with him anyways. AWESOME is all I can say. Jake, Jarrod & Duane are very professional, hardworking, and are passionate about building & maintaining ponds. He removed all that was nasty away, tore down old pond, and gave me the best bang for my buck. He did more work than what he promised and wrote on the contract. He used all high end equipment and didn't use cheaper stuff to make more money. Asked me every step of the way where I wanted things and how I wanted them to look. He communicated with me all the time and we never had a single problem. He even helped us picking out plants and got me hooked up with one of the best koi pond fish sellers out there. What he did to my backyard makes me super happy I bought this house and hired Jake. He does more than just ponds and I will hire him to do more work in the very near future. One thing I noticed is he gets ton of phone calls so be patient with him and use texting, email and I'm sure he will get back to you ASAP. I hired Jake to repair my fountain when the pump I had stopped working. Instead of just replacing the pump, Jake completely redesigned my fountain. It took him three attempts to find a pump that worked in his design. Then, after four months, the pump burned out. He took the pump to get it rebuilt and it has been two months! He says the pump was repaired right before Christmas but, it's now February and I still don't have a pump. All I do have is a long list of text messages where Jake promises to come on a specific date then, he never does, never let's you know why, never apologizes, and takes forever to reschedule. Then, the cycle just repeats with no change in the result. I'm out $839 and have a non-functioning fountain with no pump. Jake is the most unreliable flake I've ever seen. He has zero customer service mentality and no indication that that will ever change. I've given him many chances to redeem himself and I'm now done with him. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! read more

I am so happy that I found Koi Masters! I have a 2400 gallon pond with koi and turtles. I have been working with another very well known company, and have had nothing but problems. With everything. From cloudy water to algae blooms to high levels of all the things I shouldn't have high levels of in a pond with a great filtration system. I always had a hard time getting the other company out to my house. I had several appointments that they never showed up to, had appointments that they "couldn't make it to because they were running late", and when they did get here I never felt like they were really HERE. Things never really changed and every person I spoke to told me a different way to take care of the same problems. This past Friday was the last straw. I have been having high levels of ammonia and nitrites for three weeks. My skimmer wasn't working at all, and my waterfall was barely running when usually it was rushing wildly. I finally got them to come out to the house on Friday instead of "waiting two more weeks". I wasn't going to be there as I was flying to Chicago, but I needed them to come and fix the problem. The first voicemail I got from them said that all my water tests were normal and everything was fine. I couldn't believe it, but hey, maybe my test kit had gone bad or something. But, they didn't mention the problem with the skimmer, so I called them back. They never even checked the skimmer, or anything else while they were here. I got really angry so they said they would swing by after their next house. The next voicemail I got was that the skimmer was too high and it was sucking air instead of water and that they would have to lower it. (The skimmer has been working perfectly, sucking water down, like it should, since the pond was filled, until about a week before this) They said they did a "temporary fix" and I could make an appointment for them to come out and lower it in a couple of weeks. So, I got home late on Monday night and went out to see their "temporary fix". It was putting a rock in the skimmer to hold it down!!!! It still wasn't working, at all, and the waterfall was now barely dripping. They obviously hadn't taken the time to notice that it still wasn't working after they stuck the rock in it. I was furious!!!! First thing Tuesday I called them. They said they would come out at 4. The guy called at 3 and, once again, blew me off and said he wasn't coming because he was "running late". He said he could probably come on Friday. I was done with them. They very obviously have no real care for their clients, or the health of their fish. I called Koi Masters and spoke to Tom, and he and Jacob were at my house within a couple of hours. THE SAME DAY!!! They were so pleasant, kind, and knowledgable. I learned more from them in the time they were here than I had in all the months with the other company. The first thing Jacob did when he got here was check the skimmer. He took the rock out, went to the pump and opened it up. The basket in the pump was so full and dirty. (It was very obvious that in all the times the other company was here, they NEVER cleaned out this pump basket) He cleaned it out and put it back in and like magic, the skimmer started to work perfectly. Such an easy fix, something the other guys should have checked right off too, but didn't. Ever. Jacob check the water and levels were high, so they did a 60% water change, lowered the skimmer, added all the necessary water conditioners, and filled the pond back up. Did I mention that when they got here that it was after 6:00 pm?? They weren't in a hurry to get things done so they could get home. They took time to do things right, took time to talk to me and explain things to me, and even sat around while the pond was filling back up to make sure that when the filter was turned back on it work work properly. It was nearly 8:30 pm when they left my home. I could never ask for better customer service, and I was a new customer. I am so impressed with Koi Masters, and will continue on with them as a VERY SATISFIED and HAPPY customer. I would recommend that if you have a pond, or are thinking of getting a pond, that you give them a call. You won't be disappointed. read more
