I've been here multiple times and used to really like their matcha, but after they changed it, I stopped getting it and coming here. I decided to give them another try today and ordered one of their fall drinks. Unfortunately, the drink appeared to have curdled milk in it. There were visible chunks and clumps throughout the drink and around the lid, which honestly made me uncomfortable drinking it. I ended up throwing it away after only having about two sips. I'm not sure what happened, but definitely disappointing and not what I expected. Hopefully this was just a one time issue.

This spot seems popular with people working in the nearby medical offices--I noticed a lot of folks in scrubs while we were there. There's a huge seating area, which was really nice and made it feel comfortable even when it was busy. They also sell coffee beans and some merch, though I didn't get a chance to check those out closely. Drink-wise, my husband ordered the Biscoff latte, and I went with a dark chocolate mocha, which I really enjoyed--the dark chocolate made it feel less sweet and more balanced. The coffee itself was good. Not bad at all--just not something I'd go out of my way for. That said, one thing that really stood out was the latte art. The barista made the cutest bear in my drink, and I was genuinely impressed. I even posted it on Instagram and sent it to friends--it was that well done. Overall, this is a solid coffee spot. If you're in the area and want a good cup of coffee in a spacious, comfortable setting, it's definitely worth stopping by. It's not a destination café for me, but I'd happily return if I was nearby.

Koin coffee is great! My coworkers and I go here about 3-4 times a week. The inside is so spacious and very welcoming. The staff are very polite and helpful. I always get the breakfast sandwich, it's my favorite!

First time checking out Koin Cafe! I got a plain cold brew, and it was pretty good--had a nice almost fruity flavor to it that I really liked. My wife got the peppermint patty mocha latte, which was also solid. I liked that it wasn't super sweet, and the mint flavor kind of built up as you kept drinking it. This place seems super chill--quiet music, people studying or working, lots of tables. Definitely seems like a great spot to get some work done or just hang out for a bit. Only downside was that it was pretty freezing inside. I was nearly shivering even with a hoodie on. Overall, solid spot! Drinks were good, atmosphere was nice, and I'd love to come back to try their food next time.

I been coming here for over a year now. I have tried numerous things on their menu. There's a couple of favs. I recommend the iced vanilla they make their syrups in house, which I prefer as you can go half sweet and still get great non-artificial taste. Their seasonal menu is great. Try their overnight oats, they are pricey at $7 & $9, definitely a splurge. Lunch get their turkey pesto. Their customer service is awesome, and I mean awesome. They have about 15 employees and all of them seem to enjoy their work & are happy & attentive. Their ambiance is great, good for work, good to meet someone, good for breakfast.

I would love to rate this place 5 stars for their hospitality and overall vibes, but they didn't have any outlets anywhere:( When I asked the barista about outlets he said there is an extension cord in one place in the entire shop next to a couch, where there's no place to put your your computer. Coffee shops typically have outlets as that's the place people go to for working, so I was just shocked that there is nothing on any of the walls. I see in the owner replies on here that they offer power banks, but they didn't tell me about this in the moment, and I had to leave. I liked their matcha, and the almond croissant was okay just very dry and I realized the croissant is $8 (I think the most expensive croissant I've ever seen). I would go back for hanging out when not needing to work.

Their vanilla bean is made in house and it's so delicious in the vanilla iced latte! Might be my fav placed for vanilla lattes. There is alot of open seating indoor and outdoor, they also have the long study tables that we all love. Such a cute vibe with nice music playing too. Definitely coming back to catch up on work or to chat with a friend. 10/10!!

Made it a mission to explore WC's cafes and so happy to have come across Koin! A largely space cafe serving up pastries and solid cups of coffee. Big spacious interior with lots of natural light and plenty of seating. I stopped in prior to work and did not run into an 8am rush and was able to order quickly. Got an Iced Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte and it was absolutely delicious! Sweet, great tasting coffee and loved the flavors syrup you could even see the bits of cinnamon through out the drink. Also, really like the ice they use for their drinks. Service was quick, friendly and welcoming. Definitely would recommend this place if you're looking for a place to work on your laptop or catching up with friends. Noise level is appropriate and environment is comfortable. Lots of parking in the plaza. Highly recommend this place!

We had an appointment nearby and also needed a spot with reliable wifi and readily available tables for us to park our laptops at. The local Peets and Starbucks, with their very tiny sq. footage and limited table capacity seemed like dubious choices, so my wife searched on Yelp and found Koin Coffee. Located inside a commercial office complex, free parking is readily available in the private lot. And the interior is very open, spacious, and clean; with TONS of tables to choose from. Although we arrived a little earlier in the morning, the place quickly started to fill up as we were working through a few Zoom calls. Koin coffee has a pretty good selection of caffeinated drinks to choose from. Though unless you are working at one of the offices in the complex, this is definitely a more intentional destination as it will require driving.

This coffee spot is so good, delicious smooth coffee. The smavo toast is so good, the bread is thick and soft. For coffee, I had one of the specials called the cinnamon roll latte, I recommend it. The inside is big, there's a corner with some merch, lots of seating inside too. The service is quick and friendly. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Hidden gem close (walkable) to the various kids' fitness facilities (American Swim Academy, etc). Finding Koin Coffee was a blessing - in search of a decent coffee spot that wasn't a 15 minute drive away. Strong drip coffee and a fun selection of lattes and pastries. Plenty of seating inside and some tables outside. Lots of parking nearby (although a surprising amount of cars on a weekend too - not sure where all of those people were). Staff were friendly and upbeat.

Coffee (9/10) - Really good coffee. Got an iced latte. Prob my new favorite in the Walnut Creek area. Service (10/10) - Very friendly and communicative staff. Ambiance (8/10) - Modern, clean decor. Great background music for working and casual convos. Only thing is there's no chargers readily accessible. Otherwise, plenty of parking. Love the concept of breaking bread and fellowship, meaning of Koinonia here. Will return again for a cup of coffee and a book, but maybe not with my laptop. read more

This was my first time trying Koin, a new coffee shop near Park Shadelands. The space has a very clean and open atmosphere with a modern feel. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. I tried the cinnamon toast made with sourdough bread, which was delicious, though a bit pricey. My drink was a cookie butter latte which was beautifully presented and served at a good temperature, with a nice flavor overall. My sister had a pumpkin spice iced latte, which she enjoyed, but it could have used an extra shot of syrup for sweetness. Beautiful peaceful atmosphere to enjoy Koin's high quality beans. I tried the Cold Brew with 2% lactose free milk; delicious. I mean, who offers lactose-free regular milk? Koin also offers great atmosphere: plenty tables, couches, chairs and wall to wall windows that let in the perfect reading light. Prices are reasonable, plenty of parking, no meters anywhere! Win, win, win. This spot is a community gem. read more

Stopped by today for their soft opening. At 11:30 am they were still pretty busy (a good sign). A few people in line ordering, lots of people gathered enjoying their drinks and eats at the many tables. We ordered a coffee and tea, and a sample of each type of cookie (sea salt and chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and oatmeal - all great!). We enjoyed our drinks there. OBSESSED with this coffee shop. The people working here are so so sweet and the coffee was so good. The environment is so great for getting work done, no strong overhead lighting only soft lights and lots of natural light which is so amazing and helps me get work done. Very open space with lots of tables. Parking is also so easy. I am amazed and love this place so much i have to come back!! This is a long over due review. I have been coming here since the day they opened and have been hyper fixated ever since. I am an advit coffee drinker; I mean I have tired every coffee shop from San Jose to Sacramento and in between and NOTHING has me running back for more like Koins coffee. Not only is the coffee absolutely immaculate but so are the workers. I always leave with a smile on my face, every single person who works here radiates such good energy. Doesn't matter the lines or rush, they always take their time to craft a perfect cup all while making you feel at home. 1st time visiting and loved the experience! They answered all of our questions about coffee and food options, and recommended the salted maple latte. I ordered hot, was given cold, they replaced with hot, and I got to keep both! My husband doesn't drink coffee but gulped down the cold latte and said "it's hella good!" So excited to have an artisan coffee shop in the wc/Clayton area! Coffee is great, toast is DELISH! I love that they have other snacky options too. Owners very involved and present, very quick to fix mistakes if there is any! Shop is in a great spot with easy parking! I love that they have puzzles and toys for the kids! History

Established in 2024.

Throughout a service project in Mexico, DJ and Tristyn bonded over their love of coffee. Unbeknownst to them, there would be a beautiful unfolding of events leading to the birth of Koin Coffee less than a year later. The name ‘Koin’ was influenced by the word koinonia, meaning fellowship, or joint participation. We have a philosophy of community—joining people together, enjoying craft coffee, and becoming unified.

Since it was my first visit, I explained that I wasn't sure if I should seat myself. Personally, I think a sign near the entrance would be helpful for first-time guests. Since I was dining alone, I chose a seat at the counter and ordered the Sugar Plum Special with cheese grits and sourdough toast. While waiting for my food, I noticed something that concerned me. The staff did not appear to be wearing gloves, and I observed food being handled after touching various surfaces, including condiments, plates, glasses, and trash areas. While I understand that food service relies heavily on proper handwashing practices, I personally felt uncomfortable watching bread being handled directly by hand. I requested that my toast be handled with a utensil instead, and my request was accommodated without issue. When my food arrived, my eggs were cooked exactly as requested--scrambled hard--and the bacon was perfectly crispy. The bacon was a little saltier than I personally prefer, but that's more about my taste than the preparation. Overall, both items were flavorful. Now, let's talk about the grits. I come from a strong Southern background, and we take our grits seriously. The presentation was fantastic. The butter melting on top and the cheese looked absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the texture wasn't there on the first serving. The grits were noticeably gritty and undercooked. After a couple of bites, I sent them back and requested they be cooked a bit longer. One of the waitresses explained that customers typically need to request the grits "well done." That was surprising to me because I've always believed grits should naturally be cooked until smooth and creamy. In my opinion, that's how they're meant to be served. Thankfully, the second batch was much better. While they still could have been stirred a bit more, the texture improved significantly and was much closer to what I expected. I also want to recognize Marianna for her excellent service. She was accommodating, attentive, and handled my concerns professionally throughout the meal. Overall, I would return. The restaurant has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere and an old-school diner feel that is becoming harder to find these days. It reminded me of the kind of place you'd visit after church on a Sunday morning or somewhere you'd go with your grandparents for a comforting home-cooked meal. While there were a few areas that could be improved, the welcoming environment and friendly service left a positive impression on me.

My last order also had huge white frozen balls that were unblended in it which was odd, I'm not quite sure what they were. If the price was lower, we would come here much more often. Stopped by Koin Coffee and had a great experience! The staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the coffee shop itself is very spacious with plenty of seating. I ordered the Iced Blueberry Pancake Latte from their summer menu along with the Turkey Pesto Sandwich. The latte was delicious and tasted like it was made with real blueberries rather than just syrup, which made it feel fresh and unique. Saw that this new chai place recently opened near Todos Santos Plaza, so checked it out with my…read moredaughter. Great decor and vibe, so that was a nice start to our visit. Extensive list of chai drinks, so I had the person at the counter make some recommendations. My daughter had an iced Kashmiri Chai, which is pink, garnished with nuts, and flavored with what I think is anise, that she hasn't stopped raving about. I had a hot Saffron Chai that was great too (although the Kashmiri is what I will be recommending to others, since it was more unique-tasting). The chai drinks are all under $5, so that was a pleasant surprise. It took a while, but the reason is that we saw them brew the tea. A lot of the time, ice chai is just sitting in a fridge, so the freshness was notable. For an entrée, she had the chapli kabab burger (Charli Chapli on the menu), and I had their Impossible Burger (Mission Impossible). She said it was delicious! Mine was good too. She upgraded the fries that came with it to the peri peri fries and loved the seasoning. Lastly, we ordered vegetarian samosas. Like the drinks, they tasted really fresh and were soft inside, unlike the usually dry kind I tend to end up with, so that was another win (albeit they were fried in a lot of grease, which is a good or bad thing). We were the only people in there, so I was sad to discover an amazing new spot with distinct offerings that hadn't attracted daily customers yet. Hopefully, you all give this place a shot, because I would like to see it succeed.

Visited on Tuesday morning and it was the perfect weather for a nice cold latte. They have an amazing menu selection and I recommend coming back again and again to try more of their creations. My first time stopping by the quenched trailer, I got a tiramisu latte and I was hooked. Both the tiramisu latte and pandan latte were the perfect sweetness level (not too sweet) and tasted amazing. Come support this local business because they truly deserve all the best. I didn't get her name but the lady who served us was able to make my dog a little pup cup and he too is now a huge fan!

I tried their creme brulee latte, which was pretty good, although it lacked that classic creme brulee flavor. Instead, it just tasted like a caramel latte. It was still delicious, though. I was really hoping for the famous caramelized sugar top of creme brulee, but it wasn't there. We also got an individual sized carrot cake, which I liked. However, if you do not like raisins, you may not like it because they put so many raisins in this cake. Overall, my experience was pretty good, although the service was a little bit slow.
