Service was good here but the portion size was a bit lacking. We both ordered the stone pot bibimbap which overall was flavorful but we both got the smallest portion of beef, it was barely any so that was a little disappointing. Been here a few times and always disappointed but would typical go because of friends. The biggest set off as of recent was that after giving a 25% tip, I found on my credit card statement had an ADDITIONAL 15% charge!! I know because I remember signing off (my friend as witness) and have the receipt still with me in hand. COMPLETE SCAM!! During the meal, service was totally fine and I've had take out before where staff is always nice. Food is very very mediocre. The banchan are not special and some items taste old and expired particularly the bean sprouts. The pork belly was wayyy overpriced for the quality given. The quality was what you would see at a low quality AYCE location. The boba may have been the worst boba I've had in the lehigh valley. The tea was okay but the boba was extraordinarily hard - definitely not fresh and I counted a total of about 13 boba balls total (almost none appearing in the drink) which didn't matter because they were horrendous. The fried chicken was the best part of the menu item. Not as crispy or well fried as the other korean fried chicken place in the area (hoolala k-chicken) but the sauce wasn't bad. I've had their japchae and bulgogi before which is okay. The Tteokbokki looked like a spaghetti plate but tasted fine. The inside they use a large TV and just YouTube korean music. The tables and dining have 2 separate appearing flooring and tables and look outdated for sure. If I had to rate the quality of the location for its food for price, ambiance, and service I'd give it a 2.5/5; however, given that they tried to overcharge me after what occurred I would have to give them a 1 star rating. read more

I've been craving for tteokbokki since my last visit to Pal Park, NJ. I decided to visit Koja for the first time and give it a chance... um yeah, I don't think I'll be returning. I only ordered the tteokbokki and asked if I could modify it by adding beef briskets (I even offered to pay extra). The waitress and the manager declined and brought out the tteokbokki. I was disappointed. I understand it's an appetizer, but I did not expect the portion to be that tiny compared to the ones I've had in Pal Park. There was more sauce than the rice cakes and fish cakes. The gochujang sauce came out very watery, and the rice cakes were old. This restaurant had a mom and pop feel to it. Older booths up front, more seating with grills in the back with K-pop music filling the back room. Service was friendly although limited staff. Extensive menu with a medium variety of meats. We opted for the grill and had the bulgogi and kalbi. The kalbi is well worth the price with good marinade and soft when cooked. The bulgogi I have had better elsewhere at my usual spot. This one was on the drier side when cooked. I'd skip it next time. Also had sushi which was right on par! Not amazing or poor quality. I would not highly recommend to anyone who eats a lot of Asian cuisine. My photos were heavily filtered so it looks better than it tasted. The stone bi bim bap didnt taste like anything. It was plain, the vegetables had no distinguishing texture or taste, and there was little beef for the price. I added the red bimbap sauce but it couldn't save the flavor. It's written on its window "Best Korean BBQ in the [Lehigh] Valley". In truth, it appears to be the only Korean BBQ in the valley. Step inside and you'll notice that the staff appears NOT to be Korean, though the cooks do appear to be a Korean mom & pop. The waitstaff is obviously a fan of Korean culture as hostess appeared to be singing to the non-stop K-Pop that was playing on one of the large tv's. The non-Korean staff was knowledgeable enough about the menu and the nuances of Korean cuisine. The most important thing was the quality of the food. We ordered a plate of thin beef brisket and a plate of pork belly. Not bad, but not the best quality we've had. We also ordered a Korean chicken dish that I thought would be in the form of wings, but it came looking more like cuts of breaded chicken breast. Not bad flavor, but it wasn't well received by my kids. We also ordered a plate of japchae, which my sons usually eat well. They were not fans, though I thought it was pretty tasty. If we're in the area again, we'll probably give it another try; but we'll probably pass on the BBQ in favor of some traditional Korean dishes. After all, there really isn't any other option. We celebrated our daughter's 11th birthday here. From start to finish, it was an amazing meal! We were a large group and ordered bbq and had kimchi pancakes for our appetizers. The meat was fresh and delicious. The variety of banchan was great. The kimchi soup that came with the bbq was the BEST that I have ever had! They brought our daughter fried ice cream with pocky for her birthday. She shared with all of us. It was so good! I need to give a special shout-out to our server. If I remember correctly, she is the daughter of the owners. She was attentive, friendly and quick. She really is one of the best servers I have ever encountered in any restaurant. The majority of the menu (meat dishes) might deserve more stars. As a vegetarian, I can't give this place more stars. As a preface, I don't mind not going to places because they don't have vegetarian food or only being able to order 1 or 2 things off the menu. My issue with this place is that there is an entire page of vegetarian options, but upon questioning, more than half the food on that menu has fish sauce. I very much appreciate my server finding out for me when I asked about the kimchi and then proceeding to find out what other dishes on the vegetarian menu have fish sauce. I was disappointed, since my only options were then 3 things: bibimbap, fried rice, and tofu teriyaki. The miso soup served with these rice dishes was also made with fish sauce. I ended up getting the bibimbap, which was a little bland (only came with a bibimbap sauce that I had to add a LOT of to have some flavor in my dish). There were a few (supposedly) vegetarian appetizers. I got the tofu teriyaki, which was decent but not similar to what I have ever gotten at any other restaurant. I would give a place with food like this 1 or 2 more stars normally, but I cannot give 2-3 stars to a place that serves food with fish sauce and labels it vegetarian. That would be pescatarian but definitely not vegetarian. I would not recommend this place for vegetarians until the menu gets fixed and becomes more clear. I do appreciate the waitress who helped me out with this. However, if I had not asked, I would have consumed fish, which is completely unacceptable. Overall an underwhelming experience. The restaurant is a converted diner. The waitress was pretty awkward. The sushi was good. The only thing was it was cut very oddly - some jagged and at different angles. The banchan (side dishes) is self serve with. Everything was fine but the kimchi was very salty. It didn't have that tang that usually comes with its fermentation. Which was a let down since it's usually my favorite banchan. And since it was the main ingredient in my kimchi jjigae (soup) it made it very salty. The bulgogi was cooked well but wasn't as juicy and others I've had. The flavor was also on the sweeter side. The food is okey but so many things wrong with the menu. Tempura udon had a tempura shrimp actually dunked in the soup. There were now sauces to the BBQ meat. The tea was made with lukewarm water and tasted bad and the waitress not attentive at all. She brought the check when we were in the middle of having dinner without asking if we wanted anything else. I stumbled upon Koja when I was heading back from a road trip, and I have to stay that this place has an extensive menu for your typical Korean cuisines. I decided to get the chirashi (assorted sashimi) platter while my friend had the Bulgogi Bibimbap. The sushi did not taste anything special, along with the Bulgogi bibimbap. The bibimbap was served on a hot stone plate though which was a plus. However, nothing particular wow'd me and everything was average overall. This is a decently sized establishment. Service here was nice but not as attentive and little slow considering there were not as many people when my friends and I were there. It does not seem that there are many Korean establishments in the area, so if you are looking for a place around here, this spot may be your best bet. read more

Walk in and they have an interesting and eclectic setup. Not sure what to make of it. It didn't feel like a Korean restaurant but more like an American diner. The food is typical Korean food. Service was good, but at one point we were left alone to our own defenses when we needed one. The waitress was either texting or doing something else on her phone. The busboy or cook came by and asked if we were Korean. We said yes and he looked at us like we were some rare exhibit. I'm like dude you work with Koreans so stop! Anyways, unto the food, I expected more but can't complain as this was the ONLY Korean restaurant in the area around for miles. We were visiting a college in the area, and it's been a while since I had Korean BBQ. I thought we should give it a try. It's not much to look at on the outside - or the inside, if I'm being honest. It's a old diner. When we pulled up, I debated leaving, but my 17 yo was hungry and didn't want to find another place. The food was AMAZING! Very authentic. The hostess / waitress was friendly and made us feel at home. The cook was fabulous. We all recommend dining here and look forward to returning. There was plently of parking outside. So honestly I wasn't a big fan of this place. I wanted to try it because so many people have said try it and I have never had Korean BBQ. I can't say the food was horrible but I could have spent my money else where. Let's start with the good, the waiter was so nice. I honestly can't remember his name now because I thought I posted this review a while ago,but I have so much going on, I went here in February 2020. He was fast, explained everything, his whole demeanor was just great. Next the Shrimp Tempura Roll was good, it was just the right amount of everything in it. Now when you walk in it's not the most welcoming environment and I almost walked out because it had a little odor, but my friend said let's try it, it can definitely use some redecorating inside. There was not many people in there, maybe because of the prices, they are a little expensive depending on what you get. The salad bar looked like they just put anything up there and some of the stuff looked old. When we sat I had the tofu kimchi soup, the spice was great I love hot stuff, but if you can't take heat don't get this soup. The issue with the soup was that it was really oily. It was like eating spicy oil at some points. The meat was ok, I think I should have ordered the short rib but I went cheap. The sauces they give you to dip the meat in really didn't work for the meat. The pork belly was ok, but again the sauce did not work for it. The sauces gave the meat no extra flavor. My friend had some type of egg soup, I sure this is a speciality but I can throw and egg in a bowl at home and cook it. There was no flavor just a bowl of egg. We ordered the kalbi, spicy pork and dolsot bimbimbap. It's self serve for the banchan. Their kimchi was a little over ripe, but their bean sprouts and pickled radishes were pretty good. Our waitress put the kalbi on a pretty cold grill. So it took a long time to cook and it essentially boiled it more than grilled the kalbi. Also, the kalbi was not well marinated and was disappointing. The spicy pork was tastier than our kalbi. The stone pot bimbimbap was okay. I thought it lacked enough rice, but the stonepot did make the rice quite crispy. We also got a bowl of kimchi chigae. It was really "sour" tasting. I realize there really no options for Korean food around the area. But I was sorely disappointed with the overall quality of the food. read more
