Love Koji- recently came here and food was good, came out at different times by different people with lots of confusion and they weren't busy at all! No big deal- but we got the bill. We had separate checks 6 people total with 4 separate checks (explained at the beginning). Unfortunately for us we all are 20% ++ tippers and the gratuity was already included. This wasn't informed until the last person had paid- so needless to say we all essentially doubled the tip and the wool was pulled over our eyes. (Our server was good but a lot of other people were added to the situation which made it confusing for them and subsequently us also.) As a former server I would make this situation known to my table. Mostly because parties of 8 or more is the norm not 6!!!!! I am not a shy tipper or a cheap person but when everyone tips over 20% twice there is a problem and something should be said- that's 40% of our total bill- and if you think that's normal you AREN'T normal. Had lunch with my wife on a Sunday and as one may expect they were very busy around 1:00pm. Service was incredibly slow, 10-15 min for water and 45+ for the sushi. However the sushi was good as any I have had in the local area. Fried rice, soup, & salad were also good. I would probably go here again but Kuma is still my local favorite. read more

Pretty run of the mill stuff here. Not terrible, but hardly special. Disagree with the other reviews lauding the sushi. While they do have an above-average variety of choices, the fish and the rice were more standard than standout. Server was a funny guy and was cruising toward a good tip ... until he completely ignored my request for no rice on my half of the my filet/shrimp/chicken dinner for two that I shared with my wife ... and actually bungled it so bad that he upcharged me for fried rice to boot. I've tried multiple times to like this place. Last time I came in the service was awful and when I only left a $5 the waiter literally ran behind me at the restaurant telling me to tip more. I still decided to come back for Mother's Day for my mom. The waitress was awful and never took dirty dishes or gave us refills. This is putting my review extremely light and short. read more

We love the bento box dinner but sitting at the hibachi table is disgusting. While you are eating, the busboy comes over and dumps lemon juice on the hot grill, creating a sour foul smelling steam. Then he scrapes the grill to make a black soup that is mopped up with filthy towels. All while you are trying to eat. Will never go back for hibachi table dining. read more

I literally just left this place and I will NEVER be back. There were about 10 of us. 3 of us ordered sushi. Everybody got theirs but me. Mine didn't come till 20 min later after my boyfriend went hunting for it. Then my daughter never got hey chicken nuggets and fries.....even after hibachi dude came, cooked, and left. I got up and asked him about it bc, mind you, he hasn't been to the table since taking our order. Finally that comes out 10 minutes after telling him so it's obvious the order was never placed. After all that, he had the audacity to put gratuity on my check. Listen, I'm not one to complain and I was a server my whole life up to 5 years ago but I was so upset with the shitty service. I said something about the bill and wouldn't you know they took off a whole $3! That just made me feel so much better. Not one did I get an apology not did the manager come out to apologize. Terrible. This was my 3rd time here and I will not be back. The "Hibachi Chef" knocked my daughters drink all over her food. It was an accident but he laughed it off and blamed her. We literally had to go find staff to clean up the mess right under us while he finished cooking. No apology, no discount, we also ordered the "Birthday Package" and had to find two separate people to get our gift card and then someone else to take the picture that was supposed to go along with it. The waiter sighed and rolled his eyes saying "ugh let me go find the camera". Its not the age of the staff bc we also spoke to 2 separate managers. If something is wrong, one will disappear and another will pop out of nowhere, acting like nothing is wrong. Tips are already included and its obvious nobody there cares about your experience. We used to go here a lot but then their food safety score tanked and we quit going until they fixed the problem. We always have liked the food. We usually get the Hibachi meals but we prefer the regular dining room as opposed to the grill dining areas. We get the same food but with no obligation to clap and watch the same show we've seen for years. Just went there last night, got seated immediately and the food and service were good. My only complaint was that they seem to have quit including mushrooms with their vegetables and that was my favorite part. There are new Japanese Steakhouses opening up around us so I'll probably see if they are including the mushrooms - if so, I might change. read more

As much as my family generally likes the food served, the service tonight was unacceptable and disappointing. My little sister has a short, pixie style haircut. The hibachi chef at our table repeatedly made jokes about her looking like a boy and made several comments about how "real women" have long and thick hair. Even after my family hinted that the jokes went too far, the chef continued. If it had just been one or two jokes, she could have shrugged it off and moved on. But to have someone continuously make fun of you over your hairstyle for the entire dinner is beyond rude and makes the whole experience miserable. I ordered scallops with shrimp fried rice. The scallops did not taste fresh. They were sent back and replaced with shrimp that was pretty tough. But the service was super great. Don't ever call in a to go order before noon. I called in at 11:15 and they said it would not be ready till 12:00. I told them just to cancel the order because I would not be in the area at that time. Few weeks later I called back for a to go order and they said that I could not order anymore because I failed to pick up my first order.
