Luckily, I had some duck sauce here at the house and some sweet teriyaki so it worked out well.. Today was our second time visiting Kokia and I must say, Damn good stuff!!! The chicken is made to order so when it comes out it is volcano magma destroy your mouth piping hot! In a good way! The breading is crispy not burnt and bitter. Everything is seasoned well. The sauce is delicious and so good I couldn't even tell it was spicy till I started sweating. I was so excited to try this place, but I'm feeling disappointed. I asked for the Korean sauce on my chicken tenders, and didn't get another dipping sauce (which is offered) because I thought there would be enough sauce on the chicken. I got take out, didn't check it, and found that they gave me chicken with no sauce. Chicken was crispy, but so lacking in salt! No seasoning of the chicken itself that I could taste, and no salt on the finished chicken. No salt in the cole slaw either, which made it very sweet and not balanced. Kokio is located in a strip mall off of Menaul an absolutely a must try for a unique chicken experience here in Albuquerque. I will say that I recommend ordering ahead because if you don't, the wait can be a little while because they make everything fresh. But it's definitely worth it and again if you call head, that's the way to go. I will say that this is one of the few places that I recommend trying without the sauce. Super juicy and crispy, it's got that perfect Korean style batter that gives it an incredible crunch. They have great variety of delicious sauces. The Korean Special Sauce tastes like God himself is whispering to you that you are his favorite creation. Staff is super friendly and the place is always clean. Also they have Tteok Bokki if chicken isn't your thing. As filipinos we couldn't help but order a couple sides of rice and an order of radish too. We looked at each other and thought, did we order too much, it's only three of us? The cashier was very nice and patient with us, she chimed in and said that would be enough for us. We were quoted an hour upon paying. Please don't let that deter you. It's worth the wait, I promise! We jumped in the ride, browsed the mall, and jetted back to Kokio before an hours time. Now, truth be told, we had korean fried chicken before together, in Denver. So we were super excited to try Kokio....and have a place of our own to visit when that craving calls! Kokio is definitely it! The chicken is so freshly cooked and coated in flavorful sauce. Tastiest Korean fried chicken! The wait (quoted at 45 mins for us) was a bit of a deterrent, but we stuck it out and it was well worth it. All the food comes out fresh and hot, and the chicken wings are juicy and meaty. We got full pretty quickly off our big order.
